So the galaxy 3 may still get banned...link provided - Galaxy S III General

So it looks like apple can file for a temporary restraining order which will put and immediate stop to any galaxy's being imported and sold in the us.....guess we will know after today if apple gets the temporary order.
It would delay their trial bur temporarily halt the s3 from entering the states.

Sprint to buy 20$ BILLION worth of iPhone in next 4 years!!!

Just read an article online & it said sprint takes big risks to buy 20 billion worth of iPhone in next 4 years but that they are going to get the iPhone 5 while At&t & Verizon get iPhone 4s then I think they get the 5 early 2012!! I think Sprint crazy to put up that much they should of did maybe 10&?$billion & use the other 10billion to build out there 4g lte to get it out to people faster!!! What you guys think

Oh dude, people will be so pissed if this is true... most people in my area hate sprint because of how crappy the service is while I cling tightly to my unlimited data despite its constant slowness.
It makes sense as to why sprint would do this and I do see this bringing in a good rush of customers, but to bank so much money on exclusivity for a few months seems like a gamble to me.
Time will tell though, its not like we have to wait that long to find out...

its not going to be exclusive, that is just to get apple to join sprint, like said it will buy 20billion worth of iphones in the next 4 years so its just to get apple to get in bed with sprint, not exclusive

That a ton of mula sprint why that much? I looked online read & posted about it I think sprint should of not spent that much if apple didn't want to give them the iPhone 5 then sprint should of told them f u & spend there $ on building out there 4g LTE & Try & get the Nexus Prime as early as they could & then tell Samsung that when they make the new Galaxy S3 instead of having the. U.S.A get the phone last like we did the S2 Epic Touch . Sprint pays a little more to get it first!

not like theyre giving the money away, they going to sell the phone and make a profit/add customers with this... as we've seen iphones sell... sprint wants more things that sell to make more money...
I think this would be good, in coming customers who wish to have an iphone with a network you don't have to worry about usage, whih is what a lot of new apple users are looking for. Ease of use and no issues, well I don't necessarily agree with that. but being how well apple helped verizon I think it could actually help sprint add to their network and net worth.

I hope they sell a lot but I want the Nexus Prime to sell like 2 it 3 million more!!! I hope Sprint sells a lot I don't want them to lose $$ cuz it can hurt there biz & hurt us in long run unless Google buys them

Hopefully, Sprint gets an exclusive on a Wimax-enabled iPhone 5 starting this month while the other carriers have to wait for an LTE-enabled iPhone 5 in early 2012.
This is great for Apple, but not so much for Sprint. Apparently they haven't seen how Android sales numbers are trending against Apple. $20BB is a lot to gamble on another company -- especially when you are hoping that every future phone the make will continue to be a hit, even with their decreasing market share.... Kinda late to be a fanboy, but oh well.
If this is true. Then many will jump to Sprint. Will the network handle it?!?

Missing Market
Android phones are better in my option; however, there is a large number of people that need a Fisher-Price type phone. These people cannot be allowed to have unlimited options. They are people that cannot understand words like; root, rom or even kernel when applied to a cell phone. For this demographic Apple creates the best "Fisher-Price" phone. Sheepeople are told this is the way your phone works, these are your only apps and you will be happy.
Sprint should be able to greatly increase its customers with the addition of this "phone." The only downside is when you are trying to contact customer service about a real issue; you will have to wait on hold while someone is told "open the box. The box your phone came in. The black and yellow box with Sprint and iPhone on it. You have to take the phone out of the box to make a call......"

LMFAO!!!
The way people use data on their iPhones, we're bound to be heading for tiered data plans. Seriously though Sprint with so many other places to stuff your money you choose apple? Why not invest in your ever so slow network. Especially since they aren't going to see a profit from doing this until 2013.(no exaggeration)

As an irrelevant side note, pandora only uses about 30-45mb an hour to run. You could run pandora 24x7 for a week before you hit a 5gb cap.
perhaps I'm missing something, but this seems like an awful big gamble to stake on what, for all intents and purposes, has been revealed to be a 16-month old phone brought to a new carrier. I don't see enough differentiation between the 4 and the 4s to warrant the size of this investment. So, either Sprint's banking solely on the name recognition of iPhone or they anticipate a superior device being delivered sooner rather than later.
Great idea. Invest billions in the next greatest thing to hit the market. Oh wait....the iPhone has been around for years and is losing marketshare at a rapid pace and is in litigation wars with just about every other phone manufacturer. Hitching your cart to the wrong horse in my opinion.
Anyone who wants an iPhone already has one. I doubt there are that many people dying to jump on Sprint with the lack of iPhone being the only thing holding them back.
Wow... Sprint is just fail..
WTF did they do with all that money? It is not even exclusive.
What's going on????????
I was lil bit hyped possibility of owning new iPhone exclusively (note: for resell)..
Hmm... fail Sprint... fail...
p.s. also sprint was mentioned for like 2 seconds during apple presentation.

new Sprint employee

After 13 years of jiffy lube store manager, they closed my store and laid me off. got my foot in the door at sprint. my first day is today, never worked wireless before, any tips? suggestions? advice from any Sprint employees?
What's your position @Sprint?
But in general: though I've never worked for Sprint, I was VP of radio infrastructure for France Telecom (Orange) for several years before the Army needed me.
If you want to survive you need to be updating yourself and reading a lot, and I mean, A LOT ! The wireless industry grows by the second and there are many chnges to follow: company policy, infrastructure, contracts, phones and OS sponsorship...
I would suggest that if your going to work forward facing to the customer the first thing you should do is read the entire current customer contract agreement, fine print and all, that should give you good grounds to speak properly to all customers you face with issues. Second read very well all the current plans and learn about recent or up coming plan changes, this will make you versed on the bred and butter of the company, it will also help when it comes to correctly recommend a wireless plan to the customer. Third, read read and read.
Forth, do all 3 steps over and over non stop all the time.
Good luck and stay sharp!

I'll be starting at the bottom again. sales.
but I am using Sprint, have 5 lines, but while I was in for the interview I picked up every pamphlet they had. I start at 2 so I figured I'd read them all a dozen times or so. Being a phone junkie and computer need plus 14 years of customer service under my belt I should be OK
Congrats on the job. I know its got to be hard to go from manager to sales but keep your chin up and show them what you got.

This isn't phone related, but I'll bite and be the bad guy here. I don't hope you stay there too long. 13 years as a manager and now an entry level sales person. Come on now, you can do better than this. Why did you even apply there in the first place? Don't give me that crap about the economy being bad blah blah blah. During your last 13 years, did you reach out to other possibilities? Did you network and ask around? Was your plan to be at Iffy Lube forever? Aim freakin higher! My post is not to criticize, its purpose is to smack you in the head and remove the complacent cloud that you've been stuck in. Here's the plan, within 6 months, I expect you to be the store manager there. And 6 months after that, I want you to start looking for another job. Unless you want to be the manager there for the next decade. People will come out and defend your choice, "there's nothing wrong with working at a Sprint store". You know what, there's nothing wrong with flipping burgers either. But in both cases, it should be a temporary job and not a career. I don't want to see this post down the road, "After working 13 years as a Sprint store manager, I was laid off...".
Congrats on your new job, my man! Be knowledgeable and don't screw the customer to get a sale.

Petition for Galaxy Note/Journal on Verizon

So, I started a petition for Verizon to carry the Note/Journal. Got around 1000 sigs so far as I write this.
I'm new post-wise so I can't link, you will have to go to change.org and do a search for Verizon Galaxy Note or somesuch. If you Google it you'll get a couple of 2nd and 3rd-tier phone sites talking about it.
I didn't trust the "source" at CES who was so sure VZW would get it, and I haven't heard anything since. I know AT&T has an exclusivity period, I know it's a fairly large initial investment, and I know VZW needs a valid business case to go forward with any new device. I'm sure that if they are still considering it, they're watching to see how sales are at AT&T. Just to let everyone know I'm being rational and not expecting miracles. I do feel, however, that with a sensible argument along with a somewhat noticeable number of petitioners, this could go somewhere.
I have a couple of corporate email addresses (handsets, product distribution, and corporate strategy) and I plan to let them know where I/we are coming from. If you're interested, go sign, and thanks in advance!
zeno
Verizon retail people (who never know anything factual) claim it's an "internet rumor" only. Don't hold our breath.
I've been a Verizon customer for eleven years but I'll switch carriers to get the Note if it comes to that. I'll give it until maybe June and if I don't learn anything more definitive: I'm going to AT&T.
Dan
I agree, VZW sales don't know anything until corporate tells them, usually about 5 minutes beforehand. I don't feel bad saying this because most VZW employess admit as much. I did get hold of the person at corporate who is in charge of handsets etc., and she got back to me (I sent the email @ 4 AM and had a response 3 hours later) saying what I'd expect, namely that I was right about how much effort goes into putting a device on shelves and that she'd forward it all to the buyers. Bottom line, someone who actually makes a decision knows that there are potential customers, and that's all I can really do. Not trying to save the rainforests or anything
Like I said, I'm not expecting miracles. I don't know if it'll work, but I know it definitely won't work if I/we don't try. Besides, if there's one thing I've learned it's that people are all about a petition if it doesn't cost them anything; none of the petitioners are obligated to buy the device, after all (though I suppose that defeats the purpose).
Any updates on this? My contract is up in May and I need an Android phone that is at least 5.3" with an stylus (S-pen).
Unfortunately not really. The inital wave of interest that the 3rd-party press generated seems to have finished, and the petition is sitting at ~3200.
Funny, I mentioned it here at XDA because I thought there would be more than the usual amount of demand for it here. XDA is a relatively small group but uncannily good at organizing. (It also showed me that I spent a LOT more time lurking here than I realized as I could've sworn I had 10 posts in already. )
I guess most already bought an international or at&t seeing as the Note is a huge success.

[Q] Lost out on $50 Google Play Credit after getting this phone! ARGGHHH!!!!

This is MORE of a gripe then anything....I trust many of you have successfully been able to take advantage of this amazing offer:
http://samsungnote3.prizelogic.com/
Well...I just scored myself this awesome device myself a couple of days ago, tried to obtain my free $50 Google Play credit and lo and behold, I got this message when thinking I can start entering my IMEI number, then phone number:
Thank you for your interest in Samsung’s Google Play™ promotion, due to the high level of interest in this promotion we have exhausted our supply of Google Play credits. This offer started 11/5/13 and has now ended under the terms due to exhaustion of supply.
To receive future updates about Samsung promotions and offerings go to www.sharethegalaxy.com
WTF! I am obviously pissed because I thought I had (More than sufficient time) until January 6th!
Anyone think of anything I can do such as a "consolation" prize if I called up Samsung to complain about this?......it goes without saying that this was totally unfair. Total BS!!!
Thanks!
I'm in the same boat as you and just as mad. Promotion rules state that at 30000 gifts it's over. That is absurd since they have sold multiple millions of these

We got screwed in the UK also, I bought my phone on the 30th October - Yet the offer of a free cover only kicked in if you bought your phone after the 15th November... Moral of the story wait til you see what they offer for free, then purchase the phone.
My gosh there has been a lot of butt hurt over this. For crying out loud, either you got it or you didn't.
They didn't promise this upon purchase of the phone- it was just an added freebie, and a limited number at that.
Get over it.

I think alot of people feel screwed over since many of these promotions were redeemed fraudulently with IMEI number generator.

He's right. You are all acting like little kids not getting the promised candy the day after Halloween, the only difference here is there was no promises made. The rules clearly stated that the contest will be ended when the quantity of vouchers will be exhausted, 30K i think, that over 1.5M$ worht of google play money. Just be grateful Samsung does this, they were the first to offer 50GB of dropbox, the first to offer us a free Jay-Z album, doesnt matter if you like/use those or not, they still are the only ones.
The good thing is those promotions come back and they tend not to let their customers of previous devices down. So appreciate something you get for free and stop acting like spoiled children by claiming you were all SCREWED. Let me screw you, you'll see how that feel and then you'll be able to associate that emotion with the fact that you missed out on a contest where the rules were clearly stated.
P.S. IMEI generators don't exist for the note 3, and only a very small proportion of users did redeem something that wasn't theirs. Most if not all redeems were made legit.
Cool story bro. I feel screwed for reading this. Thought I was gonna click myself into something worthwhile and all I got was another first world whiner.

Samsung Considering Offering Galaxy Note 7 Customers Discounts On New Galaxy S8, S8..

Might be worth holding on to it after all.
https://www.google.com/amp/www.tech...-release.htm?client=ms-android-hms-tmobile-us
"In an effort to make up for its Galaxy Note 7 blunder, the company is reportedly considering Note 7 customers a discount offer on next year's Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Galaxy Note 8 (if the company doesn't kill the Note series entirely.) The source of the report adds that the discounts would also target customers who have since refused to return their Note 7s thus far, with only 10 percent of about 500,000 sending the fire prone devices back."
I hope mine survives till then lol. But that's exactly what I've been waiting for them to announce.

When the note 8 comes out I promise you people will start saying it's catching on fire. We will be lucky if it isn't immediately canceled and the line renamed. There are still lots of note 7s out there and yet we are no longer hearing about fires. A great deal of those claims were bogus. There definitely was a screw up by Samsung and all and it needed both recalls and the subsequent cancellation but why are we not hearing about any more fires? I've searched and searched and seen nothing. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but companies have been caught sabotaging others before. I don't believe that happened here but I am concerned about the note 8 with fraudulent lying *****es and at the very least the .00000000000000000001 percent chance of someone trying to cause a recall. Again. I don't believe there was or will be any company conspiracy but I'm just saying, there were bogus claims proven to be false and we are no longer hearing of any more fires...the damage of people claiming their note 8 burns up would be even worse then this time.

I still have mine and not planning on returning unless I'm forced to, but I think one reason why you haven't heard of any phones catching on for us because supposedly 85% of phones have been returned.
