plz comment on this - Galaxy S III General

I dont know how to check battry stats so im attaching this i m using phon from 7 hours with two hour rest started from 98% battry so howz my battry life??

That is about the same as mine. I'm lucky if I last a day without charging, but I'm just putting it down to me constantly messing about with it.
It should settle down in a week or so, and, luckily I am never too far from a charging point!

Yep same here... don't panic though same on the One X when that was released... I'm sure a fix in the pipeline...
It does beg the question of why though?

So its not gud?? What to do now?

That's horrendous. How long have you had the phone. Here is mine.

I have it from 2 days and i m talking about continous usage man where as urs ststs shows 35% it on cell standby! And 7% internrt only!! Chek mine

Usual starting point is Better Battery Stats thread and app and check on wakelocks .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Check it works on SGS3 .

6 hours continuously? That looks good to me (I don't know why the others are saying it needs fix). For example, the s3 is clocked at 10 hours of video playback; depending on what you were doing I think yours' is well within acceptable parameters.

Battery life after initial charges- your opinions

As we all know, the Galaxy S uses a Li-Po battery.
Having previous expirience with those batteries (R/C Helicopters), i know that they require 5-10 cycles of full drain-full charge to reach full capacity and start their normal life cycle.
Not too long ago, there was a thread complaining about battery life here, but i think it was due to people checking usage time on the first or second charge only.
In this thread, i'd like to hear your opinions about battery life, but please-
Only those who passed 5 FULL drain-charge cycles, reply. We need some objective information about it.
Personally-
I'm after my 4th charge, and already seeing HUGE improvement. When i recieved it i barely managed to go through a single day, and now i'm almost 2 days since i last charged it, played some games, browsed a little, made a few calls, and i'm still over 65%.
Waiting to do 2-3 more charges and reach optimal state to see what it's worth.
Mine is a Li-Ion and lasts about a day with almost constant use.

Li-ion? what the hell?
What battery did you get?
If it's a G7, it's Li-Po
My G7 is li-ion

any of you guys experiencing the temperature going high when inside your pocket? is this the battery or the phone heating up?

You are correct in that initially we were told the battery type would have been a Li-Pol.
However, since the phone's release it has now come to light that the battery is in fact a Li-Ion.
I made a post that mentions this here if you wish to have a read.
I’ve had my phone approx 2 weeks, so I’m on my 5 or 6th battery recharge. My phone has been on for 1 day 20hrs now. I’ve talked on the phone for about two hours and surfed for about ¾ of an hour. Wifi has been on all the time – Bluetooth about 3hrs. Current battery level is 70% - I must say after all the gloom and doom re the latest smartphones I’m more than happy with the battery life so far and does seem to be getting better all the time.
Wow this is too nice to read, I was starting to worry about my battery being wonky

In contrast I have had my phone since Thursday... I've charged it 4 times in 48 hours so far. I am using it a lot and am hoping I get thee performance rise soon.
Crabby
I'm pretty sure it will.
When i got my phone i charged it to full, and before the day ended i needed to chrage it again.
And now:
Last charge was thursday morning (GMT+2), and now, after 2 and a half days, i still have 40%.
I could probably go on for another full day.
My first few charges barely made it through the working day, but now the phone still has plenty of charge after 24hours. Although right now is an exception, as the lady is playing Abduction on it and will probably keep at it until the battery dies
She really should get her own Galaxy S. Although we're waiting on some GPS improvements before replacing her phone, she cant afford to get lost.

Correct.... She's far too busy keeping me in check, looking after our Granddaughter and the Farm.
I got my replacement SGS today (had to send the original one back as Carphone Warehouse messed up the order so had to send everything back just to get a new SIM) and been hammering it for 14 hours, literally 80% of that running games, using WiFi, bluetooth and GPS and I only got it down to 25% and hadn't even charged it to 100% before I couldn't wait any longer. If the battery does get better after the initial charge, I will have no problem with this phone.
Further to my earlier post...
Charged the phone to full before bed last night... All of the power widget functions of two exchange email accounts and hotmail updating every hour.
So with no other use for 8 hours the battery was at 91% when I woke up. Battery status confirmed that 57% had gone on standby and 29 % on idle
So... Presuming this bsttery use is constant when idle... My phone will be down to 70 % by 24 hours with no use?
Crabby
It varies greatly according to reception.
Good network coverage= less work for the transceiver inside the device=less power drain.
It's not really constant.

Is this something you do as routine? I don't know if I have the patience to do that.
And my signal was 5 bar edge signal for my 'test'.
Since this morning, I watched 90 mins of video, surfed for 10 mins and made a 5 minutes voice call on the train... By the time I got to work, the battery was at 53%.
I don't feel my phone will last my journey home at 6 tonight, so I have had to put it on charge again.
But still... on 3 days old...

[Q] Battery Drains Faster?

Hi,
I brought my Samsung s4 yesterday and charged it before use it, my question is i used only 1 or 2 h and stand by about 4 h, battery is now 48%.
Is others have same issue?
Is it normal ? draining battery like this ? if not should i send it back?
Please give me some advice .
Regards
Let it completely die 3 times before sending it back imo. It might just be getting poor battery readings
Had mine run GLBenchmark when I was laying down in bed. Found it still on around 7 hours later, the screen still on (after I realized I fell asleep), and was around 10%.
Again, that's with the screen on all 7 hours.
Will try completely draining but battery life is horrible for me also...
I mean I'm at 89% using Power Saver with 11 minutes screen time and only 2.5 hrs off the charger...

Reason I brought this Samsung s4 over htc because of the large batterie capacity, Samsung disappointed me ..
And thank you friends for advice , hope that drain battery totally will solve this problem. . If not I will return this unit. .

My battery going down quick as well, today i take at 00:37am from charger was 100% and around 7am left me 68% battery . I was shock, now is 6pm and my phone is connect back to charger because battery was only 18%. All today what I use this is was 3 or 4 call for 4 minutes long and internet connection . Bad Compare to HTC ONe rubbish result.

Give it a few days and then judge. :good:
Battery life its crap. Where is that big battery life improvement over gs3? All those reviewers must be shot dead! Also sound quality its *******. It looks like we got crappy snapdragon version and 3rd world countries get better octa version. Will send this ***** back.
I'm getting pretty horrible battery life as well. I'm giving it a few days do see if it corrects itself before I worry too much though. So far I have been very disappointed in the S4. Atleast the U.S. version.

Try installing this
its made by qualcomm to improve battery life =]
get about 5 hours more on battery
Qualcomm Battery Guru

I'll see what my battery life is after it settles in and then might look into it. I need to have a little more to compare it to than I have after 2 days of using it.

Yea generelly it takes about a week for batteries to settle down =] still early days
Yea you really have to let it go for a good week til it gets some battery data & breaks the battery in.
Also the screen drains the battery more than anything you could listen to music for days if you kept the screen off
I remember when I had my old droid x and that thing would run down to 20% streaming pandora for a few hours haha

NO NO NO FOR CHRIST SAKE NO. don't listen to this swine. Letting your battery completely discharge is the worst thing you can do for a lithium ion battery, significantly reducing its life
If I helped you out be sure to hit thanks

firstly, im not a swine.
secondly, its actually really beneficial to let your battery die. since android shuts off the phone before it hits absolute 0% you will not ruin the battery. now, on the other hand, if you let the phone die, set the battery on a shelf for a few months, and then try to use it again, that will probably ruin the battery.
ive let my droid 3's battery die hundreds of times and it still gets me through a full day regularly
leaving the phone on the charger at 100% actually potentially hurts battery life. but, this rarely effects battery life by much.
if you store a battery for long term storage, the suggested amount of charge to leave in the battery is 30-40%

From what I've researched putting any unnecessary strain on the battery isn't good for maintaining it long term. Meaning charging it when it hits 15 percent or so, and yes, not leaving it at a high capacity for extended amounts of time
If I helped you out be sure to hit thanks

If your battery gets below 3.0 V it's bad. But the phone will shut down when the battery gets below 3.5 V.

yea im not saying to leave the screen on when you're not using it. im just saying let it die during normal usage. maybe even by the next day.
if you somehow manage to wreck the battery in this thing though, the greatest thing is its easily removable lol

Amazing Battery Life on Stock xxlt9 firmware

Hi all!
I had been using cyanogenmod nightly for a while now when I flashed the official firmware
Xxlt9 two days back. Battery life was not bad in cyanogenmod in general. It was quite decent.
Then yesterday i got an urge to check the battery backup on this stock firmware as well.
So I charged it full and left untouched overnight.
And here is the BBS screenshot taken tbis morning. I don't know about you but I was definitely surprised to see
the batterly level not drop even a single percent after 12 hours.
Note: Data and WiFi was off all the time.
Will post some more battery findings later on.
Please share your findings too.

Haha.. I expected such reply..
Anyways i have a whole bunch of screenshots. Will update the op as soon as i get to my laptop.
This has happened to me a billion times on AOSP ROMs on the first battery cycle.
actually the jb stock roms have been very very battery friendly
I love cm10.2, but not sure if any custom rom/kernel can beat the pure stock at the moment. It is almost on par as last dbt gb rom with speedmod kernel. Could have been freshness of battery thought, not sure anymore lol.

Its not actually the first recharge cycle. Have done almost 4 5 times now.
Here is another screenshot of last night.
Nothing to brag for.
My overnight battery drop is 2% (7 hours) with data and sync on.
With data and sync off, it would be below 1% ( it can't be ZERO)
By the way my battery is 7 month old.

Even I dont know how could it be 100 percent after 12 hours lol. But this cant be a bug for sure. I've tested this 4 times.
And now I would be testing it in different scenarios like data on and sync on and may be browsing time, video playback time and a bit more i guess.
What are trying to say?

[Q] Battery remains on 1% for almost one full day

I am creating this thread after exploring the options documented in other similar threads, where I have posted the same issue.
My original battery was weak and I got a new one for my Defy green lens.
I saw that the phone stays at 1% for a long time and then tried several of the tools which remove the battery stats and claim to re-calibrate the battery.
After several such cycles of full 100% charge and discharge till power-off, the phone's standby time has exceeded 2.5 days - out of which it remains at 1% for almost one full day.
Note: I am running Quarx's 4.4.4 nightly.
What are the other things I can try? The phone is used only as standby so I don't mind wiping it off completely and putting stock ROM and observe again.

Dont worry . this happens to me also.. im too bought a battery of 600rs from ebay and battery stays 1 % for a day...
For an investigation i checked the battery voltage (at 100% charge voltage will be 4.2) when it drops to 1%, its nearly 3.9 and phone will keep working till voltage reduces to 3.5... im getting 2 days minimum backup of moderate use...
now to explain why 1% , this is an answer i gt from FB group .. "dnt expect Original battery at 600rs wen its actually cost 1200rs, they are actually replica of real and the so battery circuit send false info to phone, and phone calculates percentage remaining on this "
i tried to switch some cm7 version but in all battery drop at 1% happens.... so i ignored it and my defy still rocks in daily usage after 3 years ...

I find it odd that this is not an original battery.
The battery charge is pretty good - more than 50 hours - no usage of the phone - but poor 2G connection/ weak signal.
I can contact the ebay vendor if that is the case, but I need to be sure first.
I have now put my original battery and I will see if it drains off in the same way or not.

Yeeaahhh battery life on this phone really is nothing to brag about. I'm insanely annoyed by it and have reached a point where I kind of avoid using my phone as I don't want to charge it more than once a day. 3 hours sound familiar...i get roughly the same. I do have the "second screen" disabled so maybe that helps a little
From my personal experience when i switch to LTE i can get barely 2hrs of SOT.Setting phone to 2g/3g i can manage 3-4 hrs.Im using single sim EU model.I doubt that HTC will fix this.
Never tried setting it to 2g/3g ..i will for couple of day and see if there is an improvment...
Well drain was still high so i googled problem little bit more. Some people says its problem related to android Orene guy said that he managed to fix it a little by ENABLING Data Saver.Aparently it does not effect aps too much and u can still manually exclude them from saving.
i tried that and down there are my stats.
For me it fixed a problem.
Try it
