Yeaaahhh! Nice!

Now, when is this Q2? April, right?
I guess April or early May 2011.
So, now I can relax, save money, and wait patiently.
Bye bye Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, you are nice, but I want SD-card slot!
I assume that you did not purposely omitted to also mention the 3/4G version in your post?

Updated.
But, we still need to know the 32 GB internal memory breakdown.

Everything I've read talks about europe, with no mention of a wifi model release here in the states.

I think, that is obvious, no wifi only in the United States yet (not yet).
Because Verizon want to milk the Xoom first there, exclusivity?
Most probably, that is the deal with Best Buy, Motorola, and Verizon.

Most companies use the calendar year as the fiscal year, so I doubt its that.

Xoom sales numbers are tagged at 100k units. This numbers was generated by a Deutsche Bank analyst in early April. The number was reached by looking at the platform distribution number posted at the Android Developer website. According to Android Developer platform breakdown, March 15 - March 31 saw 0.2% of all devices accessing the Android Market app using honeycomb. Deutsche Bank guessed at 50 million android devices in the wild, and 0.2% of that number = 100k.
So let's check the veracity of this analysis.
Point 1: does anyone know how many android devices are actually being used on a daily basis? I've searched for but cannot find any concrete figure. Is 50 million correct? Who knows...it could be 75 million or it could be 25 mllion.
Point 2: wi-fi xoom went on sale March 27, and it sold better than the 3g. The UK, European, and Canadian 3g and wi-fi units were released in late march-early april timeframe. The data Deutsche Bank used to reach 100k did not include the lions share of the US wi-fi xoom sales, nor did it include the majority of non-US sales.
Point 3: sales numbers are a hot, important topic now because many investment analysts are motivated by MMI Q1 reporting, due on April 28. Don't think for a second that a bank analyst can be trusted. If Deutsche Bank wants to take a large position in MMI, it is silly to report solid sales and positively affect MMI's stock price. The "prudent" but unethical thing to do is create a reason for the stock price to drop, and then take a large position at the bottom value directly before earnings are reported.
Happens all the time. And don't think for a second that companies don't use sites like xda to spread FUD. Any user here should be considered "suspect" unless the user is a proven, bona-fide account and not a shill for an entity looking to profit from guerilla tactics.

I'm not buying into the guesstimates provided by financial/investment firms. Especially if you don't know the firms motives, perhaps they trade Apple stock all day long..
It's all speculation until (if) Motorola releases hard numbers and the fact is, as competition comes out the price will likely be confirmed or drop slightly. Either way, buyers holding out for something will jump in and the tablet market will move.
250,000 units sold. Told ya!
I dunno about sales figures, but the first weekend it was out in Canada, I went to 4 best buys and 2 future shops in town to pick up a portfolio case.
in all 6 stores, the xoom section was BARREN. Nothing left. No xoom, no chargers, no cases, no screen protectors. In 3 cases I asked and the guy said they even sold the demos.....

Yes sold. Motorola is not a consigment manufacturer. Which means when they ship, its because they sold the units.

Unless you are a shareholder it doesn't really matter. The xoom is a great piece of hardware regardless of its lifetime sales totals

Somebody paid for the 250k that are sitting on store shelves/warehouses.
The supply chain pays for the goods, after they are shipped Moto could careless where they actually reside.
so to get the actual figures of how many are in consumer hands they'd have to poll every retail chain?

Doubt it.
The device surely has a "phone home" or "check in" of some kind and Moto can tell how many have been turned on and connected. Likely the same way that the device checks for updates. Also, Google probably has a pretty good idea of how many there are out there, the device is linked to your account, so I assume that they also track a device ID/type.
Given it is possible there are a small handful of the devices out there that don't have a market account on them, or have never been put on line (VERY small handful), but the number is probably so small it wouldn't skew the numbers.
The reason why sales numbers are important to me - I am a shareholder and I have clients that are shareholders because of my recommendation to buy mmi.

Wow, you recommend people buy MMI? How about RIMM too?
Yeah. They are clearly pissed at the 8% gain the stock made today. The only rimm recommendation I make is to buy puts. Or wait till it is in the low teens and buy it before it is acquired for its patent portfolio.
I also recommended armh and nvda last summer.
Yeah I have a lot of angry clients.

Apple is pursuing patent road blocks in the US International Trade Commission as well as federal courts. Engadget is reporting that the judge in the case before the International Trade Commission is recommending an import ban on Samsung phones and tablets, which will require work around to remedy patent infringements. The next big market with brewing patent issues for Samsung is the EU. 2013 is definitely looking like a year of escalated patent wars, which is not good news foe consumer.http://www.engadget.com/2012/12/29/itc-document-recommends-samsung-post-88-percent-value-bond/
Bad news if the phone/tablet you want gets stopped from entering the country...
It's just makes me laugh when you think about the fact that Samsung could stop Ipad sales worldwide with a snap of their fingers if they wanted to. And yet Apple keeps poking at the bear.

It's rarely that simple. There are big business deals and contractual obligations in play.
Not to mention the money Samsung makes from selling to Apple.
And if it weren't for potential income from future litigation, Apple's market share value might well drop even further. Possibly into realistic ranges! Other than making smaller versions of established products and the "retina display".....not much else truly innovative has come from Cupertino. IMHO.

The good news for Samsung is that Apple's suffered several recent setbacks on key patents--the US Patent OFfice has invalidated their pinch-to-zoom and rubberband patents and a jury in Delaware held that 3 other Apple patents violate prior patents held by a consortium that includes Nokia. Apple clearly will appeal these decisions, but the fact that some patents at issue in both litigation and administrative action is beneficial for Samsung. Samsung is also trying to improve its political influence by expanding its manufacturing facility in Texas. I do believe that the Wall Street Journal is right about patent wars heating up even more in 2013. Samsung' s next big patent skirmish will be with EU regulators who began regulatory proceedings against them for refusing to license patented technology at favorable terms to EU companies.

This has nothing to do with current devices such as the Galaxy Note 10.1, the Note 2 or the Galaxy SIII. Only devices around 2 years old. See the posts from BarryH and myself two days ago in a different thread :
BarryH_GEG said:
The bans are for devices that are a generation old and the SGS3, N2, and Note 10.1 weren't even considered. And the ITC has said s/w work-arounds are an acceptable alternative to prevent them from being banned. All of the featutres in the Note 10.1 are also included in the N2 (and then some). AT&T and T-Mobile just pushed out JB updates to their respective N2's this past week. Like Freud said, "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."

You guys crease me up. Just read the ruling :
The infringing devices, in Pender''s... ruling, include models of Samsung's Transform, Acclaim, Indulge and Intercept smartphones. [ONLY!!]
None of these phones afaik have been sold in the USA for maybe two years! Apple has been trying to tag on a catch-all listing nearly every device that Samsung makes - probably including Air Conditioners and Refigerators! None of these additional devices are covered.
Even these extremely limited recommendations, from a single Judge, also must be first approved by the six-member ITC Commission and then go to presidential approval.
In the meantime one of the four Apple patents covered by the ruling has already been invalidated by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and they are re-examining several other Apple patents.
And you think that this will affect anything for years and years - if ever!

HTC Corp. is likely to see a sharp rise in revenues during the current quarter thanks to the improving supply of its newest flagship smartphone, according to a U.S. brokerage firm. J.P. Morgan Securities
"We have previously said that the new 'One' is HTC's last chance for a turnaround -- we now think HTC has done enough to at least see a mini-turnaround," J.P. Morgan analyst Alvin Kwock wrote in a note to clients dated April 11.
The brokerage firm's latest checks suggested that HTC's supply issues "have significantly improved in the last two weeks" and the company's second-quarter revenue is likely to rise over 50 percent from last quarter, he said.
HTC has helped its supply chain in terms of new vendor qualification, technology transfer and volume increase over the past few weeks, so the HTC One shipments are estimated to rise from 300,000 units in March to 1.2 million units in April and over 2 million units in May, Kwock said.

Think HTC need to learn that they should be selling more of the same phone and not put more models on the shelf. Customers want better support for the product they buy, not see a new one come out every 2-3 month. I hope HTC is moving towards less model but better support philosophy, cos I really want to trust them again and buy the One

Well I am told I am getting mine on the 26th (and it is the date that is listed on Three's website) and I know that Clove Technology said yesterday that their orders will be ready for the 26th too.
In-fact I think that Carphone Warehouse are the only UK company to not confirm the 26th as release date.
So strange... everywhere i read it's 27th for China... and beginning of july for the rest...

Blame the CLOSED NATURE of the U.S. telcoms. At&t, Verizon pretty much have the market "locked up".
T-mobile tries, Sprint...well, it's Sprint...
BEFORE anything comes to the U.S. telcom market, it has to have features stripped, bloat added and have
tattoos of the carrier plastered all over it. If I were a smartphone maker, the U.S. would be the LAST place
I'd worry about marketing to.

I don't think the phone manufacturers have anything to worry about, snubbing the USA market. Look at the sales in Korea, Japan & China...they can sell MILLIONS in just an hour or so. Until they cut off the USA market, nothing will change with the USA telcoms. With a locked up market,
they don't give a rats about their customers. T-mobile is starting to crack the freeze out between at&t and Verizon, but it's a long battle.
I remember when the courts broke up "Southwestern Bell" into AT&T and the baby bells. It's taken almost 30 years to put them back together.
With just two main competitors, along with Sprint, T-mobile and a few regional MVNO's, there isn't much choice in what you can use in the
USA.
