The OTA notification said it was to improve device security. I didn't think it was possible to get updates on a carrier unlocked phone that was being used on different carrier (AT&T); does this mean that it came directly from HTC and that they haven't forgotten us?
Here is what my device's software information now shows. (Note: I haven't rooted / S-Off or anything yet & I am using the stock ROM... I'm still learning and a big 'ole chicken! )
- Android 2.3.3
- HTC Sense 2.1
- Baseband 12.57.60.25U_26.10.04.12_M
- Kernel 2.6.35.10-g53a84f9

- Build 2.42.666.11 CL192788 release-keys
- Browser WebKit/533.1
I didn't happen to take note of what versions my device had previously, but I'm pretty sure that the Android version hasn't changed at all. Does anything else look different to someone more familiar with what this device originally had? Anyone else get this?
EDIT: Now, I see a sync icon (the circle with the 2 clock-wise arrows) just to the left of the band indicator, which I never had before. Apparently, my device is now syncing with my gmail account, which I hadn't set up to sync, as I never ever use it (initially set it up to sync with a Quantum Windows Phone, but I hated the sync limitations). Hmmm... Whose security was this update for anyway?
I haven't noticed anything else, but then again I haven't thoroughly checked everything yet. Seems that this update may not be the same as the one that Euro users have reported in early May (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646616).
Many thanks, ladies & gents!
Debbie
Interesting, too bad the update didn't include a new radio.

Hi
Have a Touch2 T3333 which has ROM version 1.28.401.4 (66092)
I bought it as I wanted a Windows phone originally for complete Exchange sync.
However I'm on the verge of just giving up with it and buying another handset, as it's just so riddled with bugs and problematic.
I thought I'd give it one last go and see if there were any updates for the OS to make it usable.
The HTC website does have an update for it which looks significantly newer, however when I try to download that and put in the S/N of the handset I get told that it isn't suitable. There is no way on there for me to part-patch up to an intermediate version then to that version.
I'm not looking for "tweaks" as such, I just want what's there to work (the weather bits, the active sync, Opera not to crash all the time, not to have to launch IE twice every time, the phone to switch properly between WiFi and 3G, YouTube to detect the network connection properly, Audible Player to sync properly, not to have to take the battery off the back and put it back on about once a week every time it locks up.. the list just goes on..)
I'm not sure if these are general issues with Windows mobile itself which has a kind of beta not-quite-finished feel to it and no version really works properly, or if the update would solve these problems.
As I'm so frustrated with the thing I don't mind all that much if I end up killing it completely and then have to throw it in the bin and go out and get an Android based replacement.
I've read about ROM updates on here and I can see in the Mega - ROM - Hotfix thread there's a ROM "WWE Europe - 1.28.401.4" which I'm guessing is the one to try. But then it appears to simply be the version I already have.
Based on how old the ROM it has appears to be (16/09/2009) how can I get the HTC updated ROM 1.33.110.2 to install (the HTC site badges it "T-Mobile" and I have O2), and would anyone else who has be able to comment on whether it's just that my experience with Windows mobile is so poor and I should persist, or whether I should call it a day and move on? (I can see plenty of people have tried getting hold of Android on this handset....could the new Windows 7 work on it in time...?)
Moved to general as not rom development
Hello all, this was brought to my attention today, courtesy of my news feed from mobile syrup.
Today Telus is pushing out an OTA update to Gingerbread, and according to the picture in the link, it looks like it has a new radio with it too. I have no clue about how to get a hold of this, but I thought I would pass on the information to the folks here.

I notice my weather now updates to my current location, other than that,I'm still playing.
I posted some information in the HTC Desire HD radio thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15005471&postcount=1619
So far here is what i found after update
Quadrant benchmark is max at 1580
Program opens a bit faster
HTC Message widget no longer have any choice on which sms program to open from
much faster on phone reboot
So is this Telus GB rootable?
Is anybody else having horrible 3G data issues with this update? Whenever I'm not connected to Wifi and attempt to use data my phone reboots. It has made my phone completely unusable. So far I haven't heard of anybody else with my issue though....
It also does not seem rootable. In an effort to prevent having to take my phone in to Telus I tried rooting and failed.

I've been having issues where it won't connect to mobile network .When I try to do it manually it tells me my SIM won't work with Telus, but restarting the phone fixes the issue, still very annoying.
That's a weird one. Mine's even worse though. If I leave my phone in my pocket it restarts about once every minute or two.
I just got my Samsung Focus updated with a mysterious "samsung update for windows phone". Does anyone knows what does it brought?
This is what changed in my settings > about:
Radio software revision 2124.11.8.1 > 2124.11.9.3
Firmware revision 2124.11.8.1 > 2124.11.9.4
It was patching for about 15minutes, Zune even did a whole system backup, seem to be important.
Most likely the update to allow internet sharing (WiFi hotspot).
MS did say the WiFi stack needed to be updated to allow it to function properly.
I have the old firmware/radio and internet sharing works fine. Maybe this will improve it.
Which Carrier On You ON? Which HW Revision?

I believe he's on 1.4 as Samsung Support told me that the ending number in the first part of the firmware also tells revision.
For instance, the firmware on my 1.3 Focus is: 2103.11.8.1

I have the same info, just updated. I got my ChevronWP7 token and unlocked yesterday and enabled internet sharing myself. Maybe it has something to do with that.
Samsung Focus update?
I got the same update under the same circumstances.
Anybody know what it is
I also got this update on my Rogers Focus...I am wondering if it enabled internet sharing or not.
I can't be sure since I already had enabled it.
However, I have Wifi issues since enabling/using the internet sharing...it seems to have messed up the phones ability to switch between wifi and 3G so when they are both activated my data will 'stall' until i turn off either wifi or 3g.
Hopefully a non-hacked user can tell us if this update brought tethering...then maybe I'll flash my phone and not unlock it...I only unlocked to get tethering.
I'm on a 1.3 AT&T Focus with Rogers firmware, chevron unlocked and SIM unlocked.
No issues with WiFi at all.
Sent from my SGH-i917R using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Just got the update, SIM and Chevron unlocked Rogers Focus. Nothing seems to have changed aside from the phone being a little more snappy. I did notice with the registry that in HKLM\Drivers\SDCARD\ClientDrivers\Class the removable option is 1 instead of 0 for both the main folder and the high capacity folder. If I remember right those were 0 before. I may be mixing that up with the MMC class folder though.
Finaly got 3G, the problem was my current location, when I went to the center of my city all was fine, 3G icon showed, 3G+ for a split second even
Have to test, if it works with wifi enabled, but cannot do it atm.
No interop unlock although I was about to do it.
Got the notification today, installed, no new apps or internet sharing.
Just seems snapier.

Rogers Samsung Foucs Mango
According to wpcentral (http://www.wpcentral.com/verizon-set-push-out-latest-windows-phone-os-update-htc-trophy), Spark_W's may soon be getting the official 8107 update rom Verizon!
Luckily for us, and with very many thanks to DFT and Mwang, we might be getting a Tango rom around the same time!
Yes, so thankful to DFT and mwang for their work. Although I did a lot of homebrew with WebOS, I recently got a Trophy and installed the custom rom after reviewing the documentation. Really love the options it gives me. Check out Metro Themes. Super cool.
The radio update was huge (the radio file itself is 2MB's larger, but it refuses to flash on my phone atm), but I think it is a lead up to 8107... without a doubt this proves that its on the way.
I don't actually blame Verizon for this delay... I blame HTC. The last two phones getting this update are the Trophy VZW (SparkW), and HTC Arrive (GoldC), the only two CDMA Windows Phone 7's they have in their line up at this time. This is just crappy support on HTC's end, and I hope their "One" policy will eventually help fix this by creating less models and models are are similar to one another.
I hope this fixes some of the other weird texting issues that have popped up when sending SMS via CDMA.
Besides the Radio update of 7720 Mango v3 update, we also got a slightly newer SPL (2.04), not that makes makes a difference to most... this update version number would suggest that the SPL of 2.04 will remain in place.. I'm more interested to see if they will enable Internet Sharing with Verizon's Trophy driver (instead of getting a ported release from GSM Spark... although it works in the cooking universe. )
I do, however, think that a build newer then 8107 might happen. If the CDMA texting issue that people are experiencing is indeed a system issue and not a driver issue, its possible that we will see an ever so slighly newer build of Mango (8110+ perhaps)? It will be interesting to see this update hit and see what it fixes. If the SMS issue is fixed among the other crap that's long overdue, it could be that the long wait is due to Microsoft testing an ever so slightly newer SYS to address these issues... same goes for GoldC users.
I just received a Trophy to replace my Droid Incredible and haven't been able to sync to my Google account. I got it updated using Zune after finding an update was available (even though I JUST got this phone from VZW!) indicating it fixes a Google account sync problem... but alas it also didn't help. I'm on 8107 as I look now, but keep getting a "m.google.com currently unavailable" error (error code: 85010017). Anyone seeing this error or have an idea at what the issue could be? I really need my contacts transferred, thanks guys for any advice!!!??

You'd probably read it by now, but from my research it is 8107 and it still doesn't support tethering. I'd guess the issue is they have no way to correctly bill for it, so it's easier for them to just not turn it on at this point.
http://www.theverge.com/2012/4/12/2944147/verizon-htc-trophy-update-rolling-out
There are actually 3 updates that need to be done. 7740, 8107, and the HTC firmware (guessing that's the radio update?)
http://www.ubergizmo.com/2012/04/htc-trophy-8107-update-hits-verizon-wireless/
I would update my phone to this but since it doesn't have tethering I'd rather just flash DFT's ROM.
No, update didn't support tethering. I need to get the official file list captured sometime soon...
Some users on Reddit are receiving an almost one gigabyte system update, build n° N8I11F. I don't see it listed, so, anyone knows what's going on?

According to the link to the factory image it is supported for Verizon based Shamu. https://developers.google.com/android/ota#shamu It is available to download and manually flash.
That last update on the google site is not it. The build number is way different. I think it is ota only till they update the site.

does radio img and bootloader been updated
I got the 911 mb update show up today on T-Mobile usa. Haven't installed it, I'm personally waiting for the factory images to be posted first. According to the others it sounds like baseband was updated, not sure what else. Hope we'll get a changelog or something.
I received the update notification yesterday on T-Mobile. Personally I'll wait to get some feedback before updating. The last time 7.1.1 was introduced, it caused some issues.
Project Fi user here. Downloaded and installed the update.
Still version 7.1.1 w/ patch level of 10/5/2017
Baseband is MDM9625_104670.31.05.51R
Kernel is 3.10.40-gc7ebca13933
Build number is N8I11F
Any significant changes is the system/apps?
So weird that a dead device gets an update out of the blue, and a large one at that! I'll be watching this thread and the ota and factory image pages for info as well! So odd...
Still no post on Google Factory Image page? ... Can someone post the .zip for us to download and install.

This update is now officially posted on Google Factory Image site.
It's a bit awkward.. Did anyone find something different?
It was pushed via T-Mobile today at the just under 1G size. Haven't noticed anything different other than new build & baseband.

Just baseband, and ambient notifications. As far as I know. I thought the radio but no. Maybe modem too.
I got the update OTA, and I don't even have a sim card in my 6 anymore. I just use it as a wifi tablet for viewing movies, etc.
I applied the update and am sorry I did. Having 4 Nexus 6's I was so excited to get it. I have T-Mobile unlimited data and use it for my home internet with the hotspot turned on. Nexus 6 covered the whole house. After the update the hotspot is really poor. It seems worse with my older Thinkpads - t60, x61 tablet. Sometimes I have to turn the hotspot off, wait 30 secs and back on several times an hour. It doesn't seem so bad with my Thinkpad x230 tablet. ( All my computer run some version of Linux mint.)
I set up a cheap TP-Link range extender that is the only box that talks to the hotspot and that seems to minimize the problem. Though it was nice before not having to use it.
I also have a Nexus 5x that is running whatever the latest is, Android 8.1 or 8.2. The hotspot on that seemed poor but mostly in terms of range, and worse on the x60 and t61. No needed to turn the hotspot off and on.
Haven't noticed a difference in making calls.
There may be improved bandwidth though that is just a feeling based on doing as speedtest I was able to download at 35 mbs from the range extender through the the wired connection and that is 10 more than I recall ever seeing.
It may be that the older thinkpads get something out of wack where before they did not. And it gets things out of wack with a difference on the nexus 5x running oreo.
I would like to let Google know this. Any ideas on where to post it or send it?
