Hi
Have a Touch2 T3333 which has ROM version 1.28.401.4 (66092)
I bought it as I wanted a Windows phone originally for complete Exchange sync.
However I'm on the verge of just giving up with it and buying another handset, as it's just so riddled with bugs and problematic.
I thought I'd give it one last go and see if there were any updates for the OS to make it usable.
The HTC website does have an update for it which looks significantly newer, however when I try to download that and put in the S/N of the handset I get told that it isn't suitable. There is no way on there for me to part-patch up to an intermediate version then to that version.
I'm not looking for "tweaks" as such, I just want what's there to work (the weather bits, the active sync, Opera not to crash all the time, not to have to launch IE twice every time, the phone to switch properly between WiFi and 3G, YouTube to detect the network connection properly, Audible Player to sync properly, not to have to take the battery off the back and put it back on about once a week every time it locks up.. the list just goes on..)
I'm not sure if these are general issues with Windows mobile itself which has a kind of beta not-quite-finished feel to it and no version really works properly, or if the update would solve these problems.
As I'm so frustrated with the thing I don't mind all that much if I end up killing it completely and then have to throw it in the bin and go out and get an Android based replacement.
I've read about ROM updates on here and I can see in the Mega - ROM - Hotfix thread there's a ROM "WWE Europe - 1.28.401.4" which I'm guessing is the one to try. But then it appears to simply be the version I already have.
Based on how old the ROM it has appears to be (16/09/2009) how can I get the HTC updated ROM 1.33.110.2 to install (the HTC site badges it "T-Mobile" and I have O2), and would anyone else who has be able to comment on whether it's just that my experience with Windows mobile is so poor and I should persist, or whether I should call it a day and move on? (I can see plenty of people have tried getting hold of Android on this handset....could the new Windows 7 work on it in time...?)
Moved to general as not rom development

Yep, I'm sure you already think I'm an idiot trying to sort this one out.
Basically, I bought the XDA IIs about 3 weeks ago, but it simply would not stop crashing. It was so bad that it would crash almost every hour even if I did nothing to it. During that time I bought some software called Missing Sync that allowed me to sync the device with my PowerBook. However, O2 kindly upgraded me to the XDA Exec and now I can't seem to do anything. I can't even export them as vCards and bluetooth them to the device (like I could with the IIs) as it produces absolutely bizarre results.
As 5.0 isn't supported yet on Missing Sync, I'm just wondering what options I have to get my contacts from my laptop onto my phone.
Missing Sync is due to support WM05 in the future, but no beta available yet - or timescales
For installing software, you can usually download .cab files and beam them via bluetooth to the Exec or use a file manager that supports FTP to install them.
For diary/contacts you can beam vcal/vcard data from iCal/Address book, but only one at a time seems to work.
Macintosh support is very limited on PocketPC which is a great omission. However, I still wouldn't have a Windows box in the house. The Exec shows how far windows still has to come - it is simply the best of a bad lot - excellent hardware let down by a slow, inconsistent and buggy OS. Still love it though
pocketmac, which is a direct competitor to missing sync, claims to support the universal

I have to agree. The first problems I've already had with it (and luckily the only compared to the IIs) is that sometimes the 'Phone' program simply doesn't work. People can still call me, but if I click on it nothing happens. Soft reset, 5 minutes of waiting for it to boot and ta-da. All working again.
Just thought I'd add to this thread and say that although PocketMac says it supports the Universal, it also says it doesn't yet support 5.0 and therefore I couldn't get it to work
Indeed, I asked the question and recieved this email from them:
Hi,
It’s our understanding this device uses WM 5.0. If that is correct you will probably want to wait till we have that support ready...and we are working overtime to accomplish that...

I am due an upgrade tomorrow (hurrah) from Vodafone and having spent the last 18mths on a N95 8gb, my 5th Nokia in a row I have finally decided no the plunge with the Magic.
Basically I figure the platform is going to be more improved etc over the 18-24mths that I am likely to get locked into the phone for.
HOwever, my experience with Vodafone is that the OS they install is generally sub standard and want to know the following.
I have flashed WM5 to WM6.1 devices and also Symbian phones so have some knowledge ofthe process.
How difficult is it on the Magic, and which ROM is the latest "Best". I don't want to lose any 3G, HSDPA or WIFI capabilities.
Also, is there an app that allows syncing to a mac yet? Not a big deal as I can sync it all through Google Apps account. But without BT transfer, is there a USB drive programme for file transfer.
DOes changing the ROM make it impossible to install OS updates from ANDROID like the new 1.5 or is that the same thing?
Thank you.
Looking forward to this phone, want to make sure I can get the right OS on it before I start loading it with apps!
All help is well come.
I brought a Jasjam and there are some issues that I need to solve.
- Screen goes white sometimes, but I figured to turn it off and turn back on and it fixes it. Is there a better way of doing it? Upgrading?
- I run windows 7 and it says that driver failed when connecting Jasjam to windows 7 to sync, unless i connect and restart the phone, then it works.
- I wanna upgrade to WM6, but all the articles I read has too much info, which is just not user friendly. What are the best roms out there, or you think is the good?
Cheers
XdesdX,
Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 RC Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assitance and feedback.

I run Windows 7 as well and my Jasjam synced just fine. It was on WM5, and it worked fine even after upgrading to WM6.1. I think you should try hard-resetting the device and/or upgrading to a newer ROM and see if that fixes it (and your other problems)
---------
I haven't had too much experience with the Jasjam as well, but as far as I can see, the CRCinAU ROMs are one of the best in terms of speed and stability. There are also other good ROMs out there, like DarkVision's and Schap's, and some older ones like Pays, but I prefer CRC's as it simply is the fastest there is (If someone can prove me wrong, please be my guest!)
-----
To start off with, first look in the wiki. Now in the Wiki, the first thing you should read is "Hermes for beginners". Keep the Hermes Wikitionary open incase you come across an unknown term.
Next step is to upgrade the SPL on your device to Hard-SPL. Go through all the steps, and if it fails, recheck if you'd done everything right, and if its still failing, you might need to CID Unlock it. (Once again, let me remind you of the Wikitionary page that you've kept open in the background which you can use to refer when you come across unknown terms!)
I highly recommend upgrading the Radio as well, especially if you want to use 3G. Radio updates affect battery life, call quality and network connectivity in general. I personally had good experiences with 1.47.30.10 but some prefer 1.54.30.10. Check the stickies in the Hermes forums to help you decide which radio might suit you, and try out which one works the best for you. Newer isn't necessarily better, it also depends on your network provider so use a version that works best for *you*.
Finally, check the Hermes Upgrade Guide for details on how to upgrade the ROM. (There are also guides for the Radio and SPL)
Whenever you flash a new ROM don't forget to hard-reset afterwards. If you're upgrading from a cooked ROM to a different one, flash the OEM ROM first (links usually present in the thread of the cooked ROM) before you flash the new cooked ROM.
Also, for any type of flashing (OS/RADIO/SPL etc) I highly recommend the SD Card method as chances of failure are lesser.
Good luck!
cheers guys, im going to use some of the things that you have mentioned, and I will let you know of the outcome.
hii there..i am recently running 6.1 pn9b1 rom on my imate jasjam.i want to know if any 6.5 version is available for imate jasjam??
Yes, just look in the Hermes forums under "Hermes Mobile 6". Infact, nearly all the ROMs in the first page you see will be for WM6.5.
Personally though I'm going to stick to WM6.1 as its performance is much better on the Hermes.
Hi All
I need some help with my HD2.
Today I upgraded from stock rom to latest as version as on HTC website
I can't recall old version, anyway I am having an issue with this radio version which is 2.07.51.22_2
My exchange activesync keeps disconnecting, so my emails are arriving 3-4 minutes later.
I guess my question is?
Can i go back to older radio version without flashing, or worse case scenario could i downgrade to older rom?
I need some help guys.
Thanks
I am downloading now... Will try when down.
I cannot help you there, but have you tried sending a SMS? did you get a stupid notification of message being sent? I am trying to figure out a way to deactive.... No luck yet, waiting for HTC response
As for the Data sync I have had no issue as yet. I have found it a tad more reliable than 1.49. But I have only done a whole 2 hrs of testing

What a pain, so yours work ok, do you use activesync with an exchange server?
That's where my problem is.
It disconnects every few minutes, which obviouslyconsumes more battery power.
As for the sms sent notification I dont mid it.
I may downgrade to original rom, is it safe?
Thanks

Sorry I should have clarified. I link mine with my Exchange 2010 Server. I am getting emails as wanted.
That said I still can't sync SMS. Which is soemthing HTC is looking at and I haven't heard back in a while. I should email them to chase them up.
Hmm, I may try a hard reset tomorrow then.
Thanks

Hi there, having exactly the same issue, did you find a solution to this other than changing out the ROM? Greatly appreciate your posts.
Telstra ROMS on HD2 are stuffed!
I've heard from a mate who works in Telstra ROM development that the HD2 images are not fully tested.. and therefore go to market with communications flaws.. eg every time you try and sync your mail or use as a shared internet device it struggles as the radio version is substandard to the rest of the Image.
Do yourselves a favour.. HSPL it... Find one of the wonderful roms that the guys/gals on here do.. and you will love using the hardware you have purchased. The HD2 is so powerful and should not be ruined by Telstra's lame attempt at a ROM.
Seems they have put way more effort into the Android ( desire ) but its still no HD2.

Yep fixed it, apologies forgot to post solution for my issue.
After trying reflashing with new ROM, downgrading to old ROM and still having same issue, that's right after downgrading...
It clicked, see I bought device and started using activesync after about 2 months.
Before that, I had an issue with my 3G internet connection not working at all.
Weather updates, internet access, hotmail emails etc.
To fix that other issue I had to create a new internet connection.
By the time I got to use activesync I had a new internet connection, I was not using stock telstra connection.
Therefore to fix on new ROM version I created a new connection, and magically started working up to now with no issues.
And it is true telstra are bloody hopeless at testing pre-releasing ROMs.
If you need more information let me know.
Thanks
Would greatly appreciate any help in two areas:
- firstly my HD2 internet stuff is nor working at present. Clicking many of the BigPond links just brings up IE with wap.telstra.com/wap?..... and ends up just sitting there until timeout. Can you post details for setting up new internet connection that fixed this.
- which ROM did you go to. Hw did you load this. I cannot get my HD2 to connetc to Win7 x64 WMDC. Can't even see any mention of the device in the device mgr, though it did say it saw it at ones stage. Reading numerous posts - seems to be a lot of people having issues in this space..

Ok.. have to say, the wap.telstra addresses are all old and many are discontinued. All those apps are simply web shortcuts that should point to a m.bigpond address.
Firstly.. you need to do a few things..
1) You will need to HSPL your phone- ( like flashing a bios ) I just used the hspl.zip.. Instructions are easy and straight forward, make sure you follow them perfectly.
2) Flash your radio to something better i did the 2.10 ( Again.. instructions need to be followed.)
3) I then had a look and found a rom on the forum ( energy GTX ) which seems to have all i want and is fast.. after you flash it.. reboot it.. and it will autoconfigure to the Telstra network.. and BINGO.. FAST Phone!!

Hey there, thanks for this. With the new 1.72 ROM the Telstra inbuild connection set ups seem to work, can browse internet and activesync will connect when I prompt it OK (with 1.49 I had to setup a new connection with Phone line (GPRS) and telstra.wap manually (via the Telstra tech's)). I have two HD2's one running 1.49 (with this manual config) and the other 1.72 with inbuilt Telstra config's - the delay problem u described with email arriving 3 or 4mins later is still happening on 1.72 despite it appearing to connect fine, almost like the message from the exchange server is being ignored. Watching Activesync on the 1.72 when I know there is new email and there is this odd sequence, seems to check and recheck emails 2 or 3 times when just one new email has arrived but doesn't seem to pick up the trigger from the Exchange Server that new email has arrived? Does this delay still happen for you, what connection configuration did you select? Thanks v.much.
I want to know what are the real benefits or improvements on upgrading the ROM on Telstra branded HD2? Because I bought an new, unlocked HD2 from a clearance shop in Melbourne and had been into it for just 2 days. Bening a long time WM user, I got used to it and it really seems to work without any problems at the moment, so does the new ROM brings some dramatic improvements, new and fanastic functions or what? I am not after cosmetic things at all, need to know real benefits comared to old ROM.

Thanks, almost sold on this path at this point given the headaches, was reluctant to head down this HSPL path, is there a good reference for setting up a custom ROM specifically for Telstra's network?
Activesync usually never works with the standard Telstra connection in the HD2 Telstra ROM.
As far as im aware, it is set up to go through a Telstra proxy server, which doesn't allow the Activesync traffic.
You must set up your own stock standard connection to telstra.internet APN. Which bypasses the proxy that they have on their preloaded connection. You will however not be able to use the Telstra internet shortcuts to My Account, BigPond etc, as they require authentication with their proxy server.
So as far as I have found, with the stock Telstra HD2 ROM its a case of either one or the other: your activesync working, or your Telstra links working.

I'd like a response to this too as I'm looking at HD2 Android and need a radio upgrade from for it to run, but don't want to lose Telstra Rural coverage. The HD2 is a great device, but few Winmo6.5 app developments compared to Android or iphone.
According to wpcentral (http://www.wpcentral.com/verizon-set-push-out-latest-windows-phone-os-update-htc-trophy), Spark_W's may soon be getting the official 8107 update rom Verizon!
Luckily for us, and with very many thanks to DFT and Mwang, we might be getting a Tango rom around the same time!
Yes, so thankful to DFT and mwang for their work. Although I did a lot of homebrew with WebOS, I recently got a Trophy and installed the custom rom after reviewing the documentation. Really love the options it gives me. Check out Metro Themes. Super cool.
The radio update was huge (the radio file itself is 2MB's larger, but it refuses to flash on my phone atm), but I think it is a lead up to 8107... without a doubt this proves that its on the way.
I don't actually blame Verizon for this delay... I blame HTC. The last two phones getting this update are the Trophy VZW (SparkW), and HTC Arrive (GoldC), the only two CDMA Windows Phone 7's they have in their line up at this time. This is just crappy support on HTC's end, and I hope their "One" policy will eventually help fix this by creating less models and models are are similar to one another.
I hope this fixes some of the other weird texting issues that have popped up when sending SMS via CDMA.
Besides the Radio update of 7720 Mango v3 update, we also got a slightly newer SPL (2.04), not that makes makes a difference to most... this update version number would suggest that the SPL of 2.04 will remain in place.. I'm more interested to see if they will enable Internet Sharing with Verizon's Trophy driver (instead of getting a ported release from GSM Spark... although it works in the cooking universe. )
I do, however, think that a build newer then 8107 might happen. If the CDMA texting issue that people are experiencing is indeed a system issue and not a driver issue, its possible that we will see an ever so slighly newer build of Mango (8110+ perhaps)? It will be interesting to see this update hit and see what it fixes. If the SMS issue is fixed among the other crap that's long overdue, it could be that the long wait is due to Microsoft testing an ever so slightly newer SYS to address these issues... same goes for GoldC users.
I just received a Trophy to replace my Droid Incredible and haven't been able to sync to my Google account. I got it updated using Zune after finding an update was available (even though I JUST got this phone from VZW!) indicating it fixes a Google account sync problem... but alas it also didn't help. I'm on 8107 as I look now, but keep getting a "m.google.com currently unavailable" error (error code: 85010017). Anyone seeing this error or have an idea at what the issue could be? I really need my contacts transferred, thanks guys for any advice!!!??

You'd probably read it by now, but from my research it is 8107 and it still doesn't support tethering. I'd guess the issue is they have no way to correctly bill for it, so it's easier for them to just not turn it on at this point.
http://www.theverge.com/2012/4/12/2944147/verizon-htc-trophy-update-rolling-out
There are actually 3 updates that need to be done. 7740, 8107, and the HTC firmware (guessing that's the radio update?)
http://www.ubergizmo.com/2012/04/htc-trophy-8107-update-hits-verizon-wireless/
I would update my phone to this but since it doesn't have tethering I'd rather just flash DFT's ROM.
No, update didn't support tethering. I need to get the official file list captured sometime soon...
