In case some of you are having trouble getting your ringtones to repeat, here is the solution that worked for me - thanks to the person that figured it out. I know all of us can use Google, but life is short and this can save you some time to do something good for yourself or somebody else - it's all about sharing.
Open the ringtone with a tag editor like Mp3tag, foobar2000 etc. Then add a tag/field called “ANDROID_LOOP” and set it to “true”.
That's it - simple and effective. Now your ring tone WILL LOOP!
Does it loop indefinitely? I assume it stops when calls are hung up but what about for notifications?
Cool tip! I will try this out.

That will be interesting to find out. I assume it will work for notifications as well.
Thanks for the info. Was trying to make them loop in a really dumb way by making the sound last longer....
I was going to do the same thing, but this is more elegant solution

My Motorola phone has the greatest feature where it sounds an alert every min or so if I have missed a call or message, until I dismiss it.
Anyone know of a small app or other way to get the Hermes to do this.
Thanks for any help.
Give PocketMax PhoneAlarm a try. Apart from its repeating alarm functionality it also gives you the option of Profiles again soothing missing in the operating system.
The link is:

There's eve a free version called Phonealarm Lite and it still has all the alarm features as the pay package.
I just set under sounds and nottifications under the missed call tab to the sound of my choice and repeat.
So basiacly I now get a small shirp that beeps every second until I check it.
You can't pick the interval with using the defualt, but it is better than nothing.
I have never installed PhoneAlarm Lite so I cannot comment.
However on the full version you can set the duration after which the missed call, e-mail, SMS, etc sounds would repeat.

Yes I had done this but I don't have the option to repeat - it is greyed out, so it only plays once. Wonder why you have it?

The Lite version does the exact same thing, however, it's not actually free as I posted above. Apparently I was having a "senior moment" .
Thanks for the suggestions.
Tried Phone Alarm Lite which does what I want but it has just too much stuff. Really don't want my Today screen messed with.
I would have thought something very simple would be easy to create and very popular. As mentioned the options are ALMOST already in the OS
When I see some of the ridiculous progs that people write I can't believe that no one has turned their attention to this. (e.g. Menstural Cycle Calculator so you know when not to invite your gf for a swim!)
Damn. So close yet so far...
Found what seemed to be the perfect app but I can't get it to work on my Hermes.

Guess I'll just nave to keep looking
You could try Pocket Zen Phone:
http://www.pocketzenphone.net/PZPForum/index.php
I think this can be used with just an icon in the tray, and supports repeating alarms.
I haven't used it for ages myself, but you could try it.
after I soft-reset my XDA, all dates and reminders don't sound anymore.
I checked the sound settings and files. Everything is set up. Even another reboot didn't work. Probably a ROM failure? Or just a REG. setting ?

ROMS don't fail - they either install and work or they don't - so it won't be that. You got sound for other things? (new sms etc.).
well yes. that's the strange thing about it. All other sounds work just fine.
Maybe a startup routine is defect?
I wonder if there is a REG entry for reminders.
There is a reg entry under HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{1511F90......
It isn't actually {1511F90...... that's just what it starts with.
This entry seems to indicate what file to play (maybe the file is corrupt? Have you tried a different sound for reminders?)
There are a few other registry entries for 'reminder' but I'm not sure they are relevant.
crazy - I swear to god I didn't do ANYTHING.
But suddenly it works again. Everything sounds as it supposed to be.
Now give me an explanation to THAT
not sure if this is your issue but...
i had this issue, I wasnt getting reminder sounds, or the pop up bubble, and i dont remember where i found this solution, but im pretty sure its a common one. I dont know why this works, but it does
start/settings/system/clocks and alarms
switch your time to "visiting, hit ok and exit the clocks and alarms settings.
then open it again, switch back to "home" time, and viola!
I dont know why this works, but it does, and it usually sticks for quite a while, though i do occasionally have to do it again which is still unacceptable in my book, but I have yet to find a better solution than this.
cool. thanx for the tip. I'll check it out when it happens again.
cheers mate
Hey folks,
i got a problem: when i get a phone call it took about 10-20 sec. till the ringtone sounds. i'm running cyanogen 4.04, but i got the same problem on my official t-mobile rom.
the mp3-file i use as ringtone is only 600kb big, i thought that would help but it don't work...
i also haven't got a lot of processes running (just k9 mail checking), i use advanced task manager to kill all other tasks.
have anyone the same problem and maybe a solution?
Try converting the mp3 to a ogg. Also make sure the filepath on your sd is /media/audio/ringtones/whatever.ogg
One other thing is look into the BFS stuff in android development, it is suppose to speed up your ringtone.
There's a script somewhere on this forum to correct the problem, can't be bothered to link to it, but if you look for the xROM thread over in development, look for a guy called MikeTaylor00, in his signature you'll find a script that should sort your problem. All credit goes to either him or whoever found the fix, I'm not too sure, I've never had the need to use it, but everything mike has provided me has done the trick perfectly

Could you follow up on this and tell us if it worked. I have the same problem. I'm not too bothered with it but I would give it a shot just for the giggles if it works.
Thanks!
well, i don't see a big improvement... but i don't think it is a big thing at all.
when my phone rings 5 times a day it takes about 10-20sec till it rings, but when i get more calls it don't take so long at all. weird...
I also have this issue, but i have t mobile to go, it it does this on all my phones. If some dials my number it takes them about 10-20 seconds to hear a ring.
I am looking for some new ringtones and notification alert tones. There was a game called Fable, and it had some sounds in it that I think would make pretty nice notification sounds. Problem is, I can't seem to find anything that I could do this with. I figured there would be a sound board for it, but I have been unable to find one. I also looked around for a while on Google hoping to find just some sounds from the game, but again, no luck. So, I was wondering if anyone has these sounds or even an Android sound board for it. Also, any other nice ring tones or alerts anyone knows of I would be up for trying. Thanks!
Hi! Go to market and dl this app called Zedge. Under Zedge, do a search on Fable, theres a few of the tracks of the game you are talking abt
Thanks a lot! Checking it out now. Hoping I can find the specific one I was looking for.
Blah, didn't find the one I was after. Thanks for the app info though, looks pretty handy either way.
Why my thread got closed I wana know how to make x10 vibrate and ring at sametime when receiving a call.
because unless there is something lost in the translation, it is VERY obvious that the phone can vibrate and ring at same time. its a basic function of the phone. is that not what you meant?

easy go to settings>>sound & display>>phone vibrate !!!
I did that and put the phone on loud volume when I received call only ringtone no vibrate
..... this is even worse than all those FroYo and MT queations..
Check the phone manuals dood, or lurk on the phone's setting..
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
...or, when it rings, shake it violently to simulate the vibration.

Honestly I don't know why people are assuming you don't know what you're doing, I think it's safe to say you know how the settings on your phone work, after all you are posting on XDA so one would think you're tech savvy enough to know how to enable vibrate and ring...despite the large number of morons on here nowadays.
What I'm getting at is I'm experiencing a similar problem myself. Only my phone no longer vibrates when I receive messages. It will vibrate and ring for incoming calls but only ring and no longer vibrate for sms. I never changed anything, it just stopped working properly about 2 weeks ago and I was hoping the problem would solve itself, sadly it hasn't yet. I've double checked every setting, uninstalled and reinstalled different apps and have emailed Handcent about the issue, no solution so far.
Also, when I go to the notification settings in Handcent and "test notification" it never vibrates now, regardless of the vibration pattern I select.
Any real help other than unfunny childish smartass comments would be appreciated, for both of us I think.

I dont think they are childish comments, but the comments are assuming a lack of technical ability
What troubleshooting have you done? What (apart from uninstalling apps and changing settings) have you done at all? Have you thought that your phone may be broken?
Chances are that if it is failing at vibrate, then no amount of software tweaks or 3rd party apps can fix a hardware fault. TEST IT using the service menu.
(Lock screen - Menu, Back, Back, Menu, Back, Menu, Menu, Back) Service tests => Vibrator. If your phone does not vibrate, then you have a problem. If it does vibrate then go back and check all your settings again - factory restore if required!

How can we assume that the user has any technical skill when this is what was written. If you have an issue, please give a decent outline of what it is (like RVICTORG has done) and the other users can probably see where you are going wrong. "Its not working" does not help anyone.

Dude, have a look at some of the threads he/she has started, it seems they start threads just for the sake of it, and I've come across the same behaviour on other forums from them.
I got it figured out people are nice at Android forums to answer my question and not laugh at . And I do search before I post

No I haven't looked at any of his other threads, and believe me I know there's a lot of idiots on this forum nowadays, but I guess benefit of the doubt before harsh words :S Doesn't matter now, he solved his problem but I haven't resolved mine.
Like I said in my earlier post, my phone will vibrate for incoming calls, just not messages any more. The service test was one of the first things I did and I can confirm my phone will still vibrate. I have absolutely no idea why it's not for messages and I feel like I've exhausted all possible solutions barring re-flashing firmware. I haven't received a response from Handsent yet, based on that and no others commenting here I assume this is just an annoying isolated incident.
Will update if I find a solution. Thanks for your suggestions guys despite me having already trying them it's still appreciated and if you think of anything else let me know, peace.

Ummm..... So, you figured out the solution to your problem, and all you say is "it's good now'', and don't share HOW you fixed it? Come on, dude!
You started this thread because you had a problem. Now that you found the solution, it is only logical that you post the solution as well. This way, other readers that have the same problem can get help too! I'm sure RVICTORG would like to know what you had to do!

Yeah I tried turning on notifications for the standard app and no vibrating, just audio and visual alerts. :S Thanks though. I'm thinking I may just have to uninstall/re-install Handcent to see if that helps.
