My Motorola phone has the greatest feature where it sounds an alert every min or so if I have missed a call or message, until I dismiss it.
Anyone know of a small app or other way to get the Hermes to do this.
Thanks for any help.
Give PocketMax PhoneAlarm a try. Apart from its repeating alarm functionality it also gives you the option of Profiles again soothing missing in the operating system.
The link is:

There's eve a free version called Phonealarm Lite and it still has all the alarm features as the pay package.
I just set under sounds and nottifications under the missed call tab to the sound of my choice and repeat.
So basiacly I now get a small shirp that beeps every second until I check it.
You can't pick the interval with using the defualt, but it is better than nothing.
I have never installed PhoneAlarm Lite so I cannot comment.
However on the full version you can set the duration after which the missed call, e-mail, SMS, etc sounds would repeat.

Yes I had done this but I don't have the option to repeat - it is greyed out, so it only plays once. Wonder why you have it?

The Lite version does the exact same thing, however, it's not actually free as I posted above. Apparently I was having a "senior moment" .
Thanks for the suggestions.
Tried Phone Alarm Lite which does what I want but it has just too much stuff. Really don't want my Today screen messed with.
I would have thought something very simple would be easy to create and very popular. As mentioned the options are ALMOST already in the OS
When I see some of the ridiculous progs that people write I can't believe that no one has turned their attention to this. (e.g. Menstural Cycle Calculator so you know when not to invite your gf for a swim!)
Damn. So close yet so far...
Found what seemed to be the perfect app but I can't get it to work on my Hermes.

You could try Pocket Zen Phone:

I think this can be used with just an icon in the tray, and supports repeating alarms.
I haven't used it for ages myself, but you could try it.

I was wondering if anybody has been able to come up with a fix for the K-Jam regarding the problem where the unit doesn't vibrate when a new email arrives when in standby? This issues occurs with the new AKU2 ROM that introduced push mail.
Thanks!
i keep having to beat my head against a wall because people don't know how to read, let alone search. so here is the answer:
Microsoft has specifically said this is NOT an option in the current AKU2 roms. Why? because MS took out that option because it would drain battery life, especially if you are getting a lot of e-mails a day. if MS decides to enable this, that's up to them. is it as simple as a reg entry? no idea. but lets drop this subject and the continuous posts untill something actually does come up.
While there is no FIX per-se there is a very goos and easy work around.
Phone Alarm from http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.htm
lets you do a ton of stuff. Setting vibrate for all e-mail accounts is just one of them.
It also supports repeating alarms for e-mail too. Actually this is why I found this program. I use my 9100 as a pager for my companies tech support so I wanted a repeating alarm rather than just a go off once where it could be missed. Check it out.

ahem. What I have seen MS state is that turning on the screen when new mail arrives could seriously impact battery life for high volume mail users. The last public statement from MS that I've seen (besides the statement above) is that the vibe-on-email issue couldn't be replicated but would be escalated in the WM team. The response was from Jason L. who posts to one of the WM team blogs and his response was posted here by a forum user who contacted him directly.
For reference, the pre-AKU2 ROMs also do not vibe-on-mail and whatnot and stuff.

TECHNICALLY you are correct. This program does not FIX the problem, if you have the settings done a specific way you can get the behavior folks are looking for.
If in the Alarm settings page you set "Always vibrate if muted", "Always vibrate with sound" both on, and set "Don't activate backlight on alarm" off or unchecked. Then when an email of any kind comes in, push or otherwise, the phone will wake up, make your selected sound and vibrate as often you choose in the repeat settings. I tested with with my mail2web account extensively.
So as I said at the beginning TECHNICALLY the phone does not vibrate while asleep, Phonealarm will turn on the phone and then vibrate according to your settings so I am right too. It can be done.
Since I was at the movies this past weekend and felt a vibrate while the phone was in it's holster I can say for sure this does what I need it to.
Oh, and by the way I left the theatre before I pulled out the phone to check the message. We must think of others.

You sir are my favorite person of the day. I was going to work through the the dozens of setting permutations this evening to see if I had missed something. Thanks for the concise solution.
What do you personally do about the backlight coming on? Set the timeout to something low? It would be nice if it came on, vibed, and then went off. Well, really it would be nice it would freakin vibe with the backlight remaining off.. =)

Well thanks
I have not changed the backlight timeout since I rarely get more than a few of messages a day (I use it for urgent tech support messages) and I actually find I like that the phone is on when it comes out of it's holster. Since the thing never leaves my belt There is no real battery issue since I would pull it out and turn it on anyway. But I guess if you were worried about that, then setting the backlight timeout low would be a good solution.
This latest OS from MS really seems to be where they forgot about current users. They made all these changes without the ability to even hack back the old way. It's just so stupid. The battery icon thing, and now this vibrate thing. And for each one they ahve a plausabile answer except for the fact that there are tons of users that like things the way they are. I don't care if they change the default setting but they sould offer a registry setting to at least change it back when they make a big change. That is fricking MS for you!

It had the same problem, I once set the alarm at a certain time, disabled the alarm but it kept going off each day. I was unable to find the cause of this.

you probably have some undeleted notification duplicate in Wizard's system and all you need is CheckNotifications:
http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/checknotifications.zip
run it on Wizard and look for entry which might look like your 9:45am alarm and delete it. should work.
I don't have much software installed. Just SPB Pocket Plus, XDA RegWizard, OpenNETCF, and Flash Player. It's pretty much stock other than a few skins.
EVA_D, again I run into problems. I'm a mac user, and we only use macs at the recording studio, so I can't install the .exe file. Can you possible install it on your computer, and then post a .cab file for me??
Ahh this is a nightmare....Luckily the past few days I've had to get up early, but usually I work til 2am, 4am, sometimes even 6am (At a recording studio), so a lot of times I don't fall asleep until 8am, and if I get woken up at 9:45 because of this, I will probably crush the phone in the palm of my exhausted hand...
anyone??
Here is the check notifications exe taken from my device - just run it on your device should work.
If that does not work i will post memaid to you from my device.
If nothing works then its hard reset time - then use a different alarm, see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=43692
That doesn't work. I emailed the exe to my phone, but it wont install. I need the cab file. Can you post the cab that is extracted from the exe?
Strange works on my device without a cab install. The exe is a standalone exe not an install exe. Sorry dont have cab for it
Ahh, I didn't realize it was an actual app, and not an install file. It's loaded up, and I have 472 events, which the app says is very high. So how does this work?? Am I supposed to clear ALL events??
Does the MDA store ALL the event information from the day it was turned on? It seems so because 472 seems to be a lot. Is this a bug on the MDA that may cause it to run slow? What (if any) are the effects of clearing ALL events? Will this basically be a reset pf the phone and require me to set up my mail, proxy, and other information again, or does it just deal with notifications and whatnot?

NO! not ALL! get into Options -> settings, check both boxes -> OK. then tap 'Clear' button on top of main screen. number of notification should reduce significantly (in my case it's about 15-20 after clearing). some notifications are essential for running system and should never be deleted.
Wow, 472? I think I have 13. You definitely need to do some spring cleaning there.

mee 2, was waiting for the alarm at 1:00PM, but id did not fire today. Happy alarms!
It was the first time I have set my alarm to wake me up on my 8525. Needless to say I could not get the alarm to turn off. I have tried soft reseting and everything. Now when the phone restarts the red indicator light flashes and even without any alarms checked, the unit continuously plays the alarm over and over again with about a 15 second delay.
Has anyone seen this before? It is driving me insane!
I have the at&t rom and it has worked fine for over a month now..
What could it be?
Its a bug. I had the same issue on a previous AKU 3.x rom.
The only way I got rid of it was reinstalling my Rom...
I had it with a TyTN with factory supplied ROM (AKU 2.x). There was no dismiss soft-button, nor the menu to do anything; reset didn't help either. At the time, I just turned off the sound for notifications and hardresetted the phone in the evening.

Well, yes there are some known issues with the alarm. It may however not be necessary to go to the lengths of changing the ROM and doing a hard reset.
One of the most common issues is that the alarm notification store becomes cluttered up with duplicates and junk. (And this can happen regardless of whether you use the alarm much or not!!).
The standard way to clear the notifications queue is to use a third party tool and there are several but the best known are:
SKtools (Not Freeware)
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=14288
Memmaid (Not Freeware)
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=14279
Scarybear (Freeware)
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/notificationclearfix.shtml
Use any of these to clear your notifications cue. I personally like sktools as it has a host of other facilities well worth having - but the others are good too.
Mike
Is the behaviour of absent dismiss and menu buttons (the soft buttons) also the result of a messed up notifications queue?
I did have issues once where alarms went of twice at the same time, etc.; but at least I could turn them off when this occured.

Good question - and I do not know the answer for sure. The first two posters above do not say whether they get the dismiss option at all or whether they get the dismiss option but it just does not cancel the alarm.
That was the reason for my "caution" in replying and saying they "may" not need to change ROM or Hard reset.

Wow! indeed.
Question is will it now work correctly?
I wouldn't blame HTC for this one though, it's a M$ problem.
Hope it works, if not it's a hard reset next step. Mine had this problem but ok now after clear out. You may find you've claered out some notifications you do want. That's ok though you can reset them. Also if you ever restore from a backup you may need to re-clear the duplicate notifications.

Currently, I use Klaxon, and I adore it. However, it periodically just stops working (the alarm will randomly not go off, and continue to not work until I uninstall and reinstall). This, of course, is a problem - Why use an alarm that fails to work?
I am looking for a new Alarm program, and was wondering if you knew of a good one?

Try G-Alarm. It is a really good one. I use it and it works fine for me. Has a good amount of alarm options on it. Hope this helps.
good alarm
I have been using g alarm for a good while and it has been really great. I like that I can set the vol to increase gradually. One complaint is that after a while the gradual increase became irregular.
I have been using SPB Time for years. It works very well. It's not free, but I think they have a demo available in the Marketplace. Worth the money, in my opinion.

+1 on G-Alarm. More reliable for me than Klaxon. I like the ability to use 2 sound files, which creates a random alarm you can't ignore!
One little quirk: be careful when setting same-day alarms, because G-Alarm defaults to the next day. You have to manually hit the back arrow on the date when setting an alarm.
+1 on G-Alarm. I have been using it since last year. It is great, you can have many alarms and set it for different times on different days, it's great because I can have different alarms for weekdays and weekends. You can also have each alarm ring for longer or shorter and you can have it so you have to answer math questions or do puzzles to turn off. Try answering 16-7 when you are half awake, it will wake you up!

+1 maybe not free but RELAYABLE!!!!
Thank you! I will definitely try it!
I have the cracked version. Go on the piratebay and search wm apps and a torrent should come up having a whole bunch of stuff for windows mobile including SPB Time.
I'm searching for a way to assign a custom MP3 ringtone for each contact on my 6P, just like I did for my Galaxy S3 & my Note 3. A free or paid Play Store app (doesn't matter which because I have that $50 Play store credit) would be ideal!
It's really bumming me out that the latest & greatest Nexus 6P just doesn't have that capability, or am I missing something blatantly obvious here?? For example, on my Note 3 when my Sister calls, I would hear Weird Al's "White & Nerdy". When my mother calls, I would hear "Like a G6". And when my boss calls, I would hear Cheech Marin's voice knocking on the door saying "It's me, Dave...D A V E!" His name actually is Dave, so that just fits! You get the idea.
Any suggestions for an app that would watch for incoming calls, then play the ringtone I would assign to that person? I've already transferred all of the MP3's, notifications & ringtones from my Note 3 to the appropriate folders in the 6P AND they are selectable for a default sound, but no custom contact ringtones or custom notifications sounds for each event.
Not rooted (yet, but most likely will in time) so still all stock with build MDA89D
You help will be greatly appreciated. And if I'm missing the obvious here, please feel free to laugh at my pain!
I use Light Flow for that. Other folks here have posted that it works for them without root for LED customizations, but I haven't received my 6P yet to test it myself... If it works, it should do both custom LED and sound notifications.
If you go to contacts and edit the contact you want once you hit edit touch the 3 dots it should show set ringtone in the options thats just for incoming calls only not for messages

That solves the custom ringtone problem. How did I miss that one?? I tried to edit the contacts as you said, but I completely missed the three dots menu. [face palm!]
But Light Flow sounds as the way to go. I'm used to having a blue LED for missed calls, green for text messages & red for voicemail. If the 6P has those options already built-in, then a lil customization of those couldn't hurt!
On that note, it is *ridiculous* that Android doesn't have the possibility of individual text tones.

Use Rings Extended in Play Store...can assign any ringtone or notification, ANYWHERE
If you use Hangouts for SMS, you can set a custom tone for each conversation. I still prefer Light Flow, though, because it lets me change LED colors, blink rates, and durations per notification type/person. It also allows similar options for custom vibrations.
I may get the anti VZW hate on this one....but I use Verizon messages. Can use individual text tones on that. I like the app as when I switch roms, it syncs all texts and pic messages for me. No need to back them up and they are also on my tablet. However, I agree that it's BS that google does not make this a feature in the stock messaging app. I used to use Hangouts before switching to VZW messages.

The solutions for messenger & hangouts are temporary. If you delete the conversation, they'll reset next time you get a message from that contact. If you want permanent solutions, you need something like textra or handcent.

I don't think it should be necessary with a third-party app to do that. On the iPhone the feature is build into the OS.

Well, I'm just comparing ideas and that happens to be one that I like. I don't get why you react so aggressive to me saying that I would like it to be a core feature of Android. After all, you could do this on a Nokia 3310. I don't get why it is a bad thing to request these much more sophisticated devices to do the same. I won't ever get an iPhone an have been using Android for years - but the ring tone thing - I *personally* think that iPhone handles that better.

No one's being aggressive. I just think it's stupid to compare features that way. Well the iPhone has it, why can't I? Do you want a big round button on your phone too? Do you want an apple logo? The iPhone has them. And I'm going to assume you're semi intelligent, being that you are on these forums... Making a request, as you put it, will get you nowhere here. Messenger & hangouts are Google Apps. No one here is going to add those features for you. So your request here is gonna get you a 3rd party app. But since you already said you didn't want that, guess you're out of luck. Enough on the that. Good day & good luck in your search for a 1st party app that has those features

I know all those things. That's why I've been a Handcent user for years.
Here is the solution.
Download a file explorer app such as ES file explorer.
That's it.
Now where you chose to select ringtone, you will be ask to chose from..
1. ES file Explorer
2. Media Storage
Choose ES file explorer and find the song you wanna put as ring tone or alarm tone.
That's it.. Work done for free.
This even works for individual contact tone.
Open the contact in the edit mode..
Click on those three dots for further options.
Set ringtone and then chose the ES file Explorer option.. ?
Why do my custom ring tones and notifications reset themselves sometimes? I'm using stock, locked, unrooted N6P.
