Hi guys, I have a problem with installing apps form the Market app (3.1.3 and 3.1.5 tested) - and no this is not the constantly downloading issue.
( issue also posted in cyanogenmod Desire HD forum [although it seems dead there]
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/34460-market-315-problems/ )
I'm just trying to move from ARHD to CM7.
My problem is that I cannot install ANYTHING from the android market app - I simply get an error' "'[name of app]" could not be downloaded due to an error'.
However, my backed up apps do get restored from Google at first launch AND I can install apps OTA using market website.
I have tried the latest stable CM7 and nightly 230 with same problems on both ROMs
Also, before anybody runs through the usual nonsense, I have cleared the market app cache and data / cleared dalvik cache / cleared cache but the problem still exists
info:
recovery > install zip > full_wipe_1.5_EXT4.zip
install zip > [cyanogenmod ROM]
reboot > set up wifi > reboot recovery
install zip > gappsgb20110828signed.zip
reboot > sign in Google (wifi) > OK to install apps > Accept market ToC [even from here NO APPS will install, not even Gmail]
details:
Desire HD
4EXTRecovery v2.1.3 RC2 [ now on latest v5 CWM ]
tried Market 3.1.5 / 3.1.3
tried update-cm-7.1.0-DesireHD-signed.zip and cm_ace_full-230.zip
UPDATE:
OK so my Market seems to have now miraculously fixed itself, I have just managed to download 6 apps (some quite large) and performed manual updates to some system installed apps.
No idea what happened....
Disclaimer: I do not recommend trying this. This is just me documenting a bad idea, mostly to get my post count up so I can start contributing to Pawit's ICS thread.
Purpose:
Document installing Pawitp's ICS release 10 over Cyanogen nightly 181 WITHOUT a wipe. Mostly just to avoid reinstalling all my apps, SMS's etc.. and to see how badly this could go.
Background:
I have been using Pawitp's ICS since the first release and upgrading with each new release. Sometimes with a full wipe, sometimes not. I was on a stable version 9 when 10 was released so i installed V10 and had a very good experience with it. I was not having any FC's, superuser was working and generally everything worked well except the browser was extremely laggy. So on a slow Sunday afternoon I thought I'd do a full wipe and reinstall V10 to see how the browser worked like that. After the factory restore and reinstall I started getting FC's and my superuser was not functioning. I played with it for a bit but eventually wound up restoring a backup of Cyanogen nightly 181 as I needed my phone working again at that time.
What I've done so far:
From Cyanogen nightly 181 I rebooted into CWM recovery, chose "install .zip from SD card", and installed Pawitp's V10. Then I installed gapps v5.3. Then rebooted the phone. (As mentioned, I did not wipe anything, not even the cache.)
The phone rebooted with 2 issues:
1) The process android.process.media FC's a lot, then eventually stops
2) The clock process FC's occasionally.
I rebooted to recovery, cleared the cache and restarted and still have the above problems. (I will work on these shortly, for now I want to see what all works.)
What is working:
1) All apps are still installed
2) Tried google earth and it still functions
3) Wifi still works and all connections are still remembered
4) Gmail upgraded and works.
5) Bluetooth turns on. I don't have any devices to test connecting to but my previous pairings are still listed.
6) Mobile Data turned off. (This is a documented bug in V10)
7) All settings work except going into sounds causes more media server FC's. It looks like this is maybe caused by my sounds being set to Cyanogen sounds that no longer exist?
8) In Accounts -> Sync, setting the browser to sync caused the error "sync is currently experiencing problems"
9) SU apps are still allowed SU rights.
10) UI still seems smooth like butter.
11) Receiving SMS worked and a sound played (and vibrated) but caused the media server crash. SMS's were kept from Cyanogen install.
12) Notification lights work (menu and back buttons light when receiving text etc.)
13) GTalk -When logging in I get the media server crash, then gtalk closes.
Now to work on the clock and media server FC's. If I figure out how to work those out I'll come back and post. If you want to know if anything works that I haven't listed let me know. If you have any thoughts on the android.process.media please let me know. (I've already cleared the cache in CWM, force stopped the media process and cleared its cache.)
Edit 1:
Clock FC fixed by finding the clock in Manage Apps, force stopping it, then clearing its data. This also deleted my alarms.
Edit 2:
Added bookmark widget and selected to sync with my gmail account. This activated browser sync in my Accounts and Sync settings suffessfully.
Edit 3:
All done with no happy ending. Talk was working but no longer opens. Calendar sync is not functioning. Market is unable to download files due to an error. Gallery works but FC's when exiting. And I never could get the media scanner errors to stop. Oh well it was fun while it lasted.
I get several FC using CyanogenMod Settings in MS2Ginger 5.0:
CyanogenMod Settings -> Interface -> FC
CyanogenMod Settings -> Lockscreen settings -> Style options -> FC
Already cleaned the application data. Any suggestions? Is it due to ongoing porting?

So I sideloaded the Google Dialer from the Nexus devices on my rooted Verizon Galaxy S5. I downloaded the APK, copied it to /system/priv-app, changed the permissions to 644 (rw-r--r--), then ran the APK to install the dialer. I tried launching both from the app drawer and through Nova's shorcut, Actions, Google Dialer and then the first phone option; both ways loads the launcher and then immediately crashes with the error "Unfortunately, Google Dialer has stopped." Has anybody had any success getting the Google Dialer to work on their Galaxy S5? If so, any workarounds that you had to do to get it to work or did it just work? I'm wondering if it's because I froze a bloatware or installed an app that's causing a conflict. My stock Samsung dialer works fine, but I'm not a fan of that dialer and I like the local business search feature of the Google Dialer.
I installed it, but it crashes as soon as I try to search for a person (type any key and crash). I'm not really interested in rooting my phone til CM is ready, but I hear you need to to get it working properly.
Crashing here too, something with S5 firmware or software?
Same here
I'm on a Verizon Galaxy S5 rooted with GEL and I tried making a shortcut to the Google Dialer with QuickShortcutMaker. The dialer crashes every time. Would love to be able to use the Google Dialer again. Coming from CM11 on a Galaxy Nexus.
To stop it crashing, you need to clear your system caches.
Go to the Applications manager in the Settings menu and find the Google dialer in the "all" column
Choose force stop > clear cache > clear data
Now reboot to recovery mode (power phone down, then volume up + home + power)
And select clear cache
Then a normal reboot and you should be good
.
I am having a problem with the stock Samsung dailer, it crashes at least once whenever making a call. I tried clearing the cache that helped for a little bit but now the issue is back,. Any idea of how to get rid of this problem permanently?

thanks a lot for posting, this solved my issue on my phone : "gm5 plus d" , android 7.1 / cm14.1
d802, stock v20f, rooted, dorimanx kernel v6.8
as the title says, i'm unable to add any widget to lockscreen... it always gives me "settings stop" error and it doesn't even open the widgets list... (few times it almost gave me the list, but it fc-ed still)
don't know what happened, it was working yesteday...
adding a widget to homescreen (nova launcher) works fine
edit:
tried to fix permissions in recovery...
tried to clear cache for settings in titanium
still no change
thanks for any help in advance
