The Xperia Project (Video Reviews)

Hey Everyone I just wanted to get some feedback from everyone on a youtube project I am starting. I want to make some video reviews that can show off some off the things the X10 and X10 mini can do.
I know a lot of people are not happy that we have NO MT or 2.2 but the X10 is still a great phone and I want to show everyone all the reasons why.
I have posted one already showing the X10 running psx4droid
http://www.youtube.com/user/xperiaproject
I know there is no audio and only background audio right now, but I did not have it on as it is choppy. The videos will get better and ill try to keep my reflection out of the screen . Thanks for any and all feedback.
If anyone wants to help with the project or has any ideas please let me know.
I hope this does not break any rules and if it does I'm so sorry and mods please feel free to close this post if needed.
I am sure you get more audience if you add the vibrator apps or light saber apps so the iphone user will be jealous of what your x10 can satisfy you every night while their iphone can't.
Thanks for the views everyone, if you have any comments or ideas im open to hear them. Thanks everyone

Buy a new camera.
I plan to, thanks for the feedback.
I think a demo video of the x10 running ADW would look great with the right settings/ background etc.. it swipes really smoothly a looks great switching from portrait to landscape, and into and out of preview mode... (Running on my X10i with R2BA026 !!)
Thanks for the Idea I will work on that.

Video guide "beta"

Hey fellas!
I've spent the last couple weeks making a bunch of tutorials and things for people just getting into the scene and those that want to learn a new thing or two. I got tired of seeing all the crappity crap crap videos that were OK but nothing stellar, and usually poor quality resolution wise. Here's a taste of what I've been up to. I hope to have the core of my series done by the end of the week. I say hope because I've redone every video 2-3 times, and I keep finding something new to play with each time.
So, with that. This is a link invite only. I'd just like to know what you guys think, or if maybe you have some ideas you'd like me to take a shot at. I do have more interactive videos that zoom, highlight, and point out things when it requires steps to do so (i.e Odin which is a GREAT video so far). Most of my videos have 3 vantage points. The computer screen, the screen on the phone, and me handling the phone sometimes simultaneously.
Here is just a taste of what I'm up to.
***Edit***
I added the first video so you guys can get a better idea. I've only activated the rooting option at the end, which should take you to the second video (original one I posted) Enjoy!

Dude, that is very professional looking..... very, very nice. Thank you for using my sticky as a background, looks cool scrolling.
Are the links at the end going to take you to future videos?

yes, and a link takes you to this video should you choose the rooting direction. Those videos are mostly done, but aren't linked yet. I think you'll be surprised on what I've done with them.
Really looking forward to it, when all done... this will be at the top of each sticky (General and Q&A).
I did some videos for the noob guide that are not even close to this in quality (my daughter was sleeping next to me, shot with a nexus one, and no editing). One thing that I do get asked a lot is when going from eclair > froyo > eclair. How to ODIN back to stock... and flashing kernels (about the simplest thing ever). I imagine you touched on some of this already, just giving some feedback to you that I received.
Here is a good guide on going back to stock, just in case:

Yup, so far I've got my core essentials in. It's just fine tuning them and making sure I like them. Basically a person who has never seen a vibrant will be able to decide what they want to do with their phone, rooted or not. There is the intro which give you a choice to root, or not to root, or what is root if they're clueless. From there, it branches out to theming and rooting topics. Hopefully by the start of next week I'll be able to do some of the kernal flashing details and the different roms going around so people can see visually what's going on and decide before hand what that particular angle is all about.
Looks great!
Nice work!

[BOOTANIMATION] Playstation 1 boot + sound

My first post here so i'll try to be as good of an OP as possible!
So, i looked around and i couldn't find one i liked so i made my own with some help of course! And i finaly decided i want to share it with you all ^^
Since i first noticed that if you make a 1 loop bootanimation you can't make it big so even though the screen is 480x800 i scaled down the images to 360x600(75%) which made it VERY fluent when scaled up to 480x800. No chopping like it otherwise did and i could have higher fps+more frames.
This is my first bootanimation and the only thing i did was taking frames from this remastered/recreated(but slightly non-cannon *Look at where the TM is placed in the first half*) version of the PS1 boot:
"Link 1"
And i used this sound:
"Link 2"
Which i normalized so it wouldn't destroy my speaker!
links.rar has the two credit links as well as the example link(youtube) in a txt file til i get more posts
PS: Filenames in the bootanimation have their original vlc snapshot names. I will fix this in a later version now i just want oppinions and to share the beauty i've created ^^
Any ideas for a splashscreen or what to have as an ending for the animation is appriciated. Im new to all of this so!
LINKS IN THE SECOND POST!

Man I'm so lost I've been trying to do this for hours I've got a Samsung Galaxy S 2 I recently rooted it and put a custom rom on it I've managed to get the boot animation on it but I cannot find the sound I have to rename or anything Where am I meant to put the sound ?
interesting!
interesting boot animation tnx for that
This is cool, thx
Holy smokes this is cool. Can you upscale that for the Galaxy Nexus?
Is anyone able to resize for sensation? I love this. Reminds me of the good old days Would love to be able to have it on my sensation with boot sound. Running Ordroid 8.0.0 atm. If it is easy enough to do, someone kindly point me to a guide and I will have a crack at it

I know it has been a while since you asked this question but to find out where and what name the bootanimation is meant to be named and kept, simply use root explorer (available on play store to buy or similar alternative)
Navigate to /system/customize/CID and open the file 'default.xml'
Now scroll all the way to the bottom and look for <BootConfiguration> should be about 30-40 lines up from bottom. There you will find the locations for bootanimation and audio. simply rename your bootanimation and/or audio to the name it says there. In my case they are
system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip
system/customize/resource/android_audio.mp3
system/customize/resource/downanimation.zip
Hope it helps somone atleast if not you
thank you
animation is so good however the boot sound is more wonderful
very nice but how do I flash it?
Good share dude..

[Q] Which thread best for audio Volume issue on 4.2.1?

guys I've spent a lot of time chasing various threads on xda and elsewhere, re: the very low pitiful audio volume levels for movie replay on nexus 7 with 4.2.1 .... to no avail. volume+ from the apps store comes up as "compatible with all devices" for me but it ain't. doesn't work yet on JB.
I've read, re-read, and re-re-read the thread over in Android devel of a custom patch for DSP supposedly to give 'beats' like audio, improvements, etc requires custom kernel at least if not rom - but no straight answers on what mix it takes to make it work nexus 7 on 4.2.1 so I assume it no worky either.
SOOOOO.... is there ONE thread somewhere that can serve as the checkpoint for all of us suffering through this issue? its been reported to Google ad infinitum and I'm sure sooner or later will get a remedy if such is possible with this hardware, but it will happen more quickly the custom route I suspect.
any clues??
I note [for those that don't know] that Youtube sounds great, and what little I've tried Netflix, its passable, but playback of 720p movie files using MX Player or others [some are not yet compatible with 4.2.1] its unbearable. another win for the tablet that must not be mentioned around here.....
Have you tried this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889522
Working ok for me...
I will if you can give me an answer I need: I read on one of those threads [he/they post in several forums so I not sure which I saw this] that one needs to install a Custom Kernel [Trinity was one I jotted down], possibly a custom ROM [i.e. not the google OTA JOP40D], and in another post, that one might need to Uninstall the stock DSP Manager [and replace with ?????]
assuming you're working OK [ie MX Player playing a good MP4 file, great volume??] on 4.2.1, what was your recipe?
thanks so much :good:

This post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31619899&postcount=2, post #2 contains the mod for Android 4.2...you just need to be rooted and have custom recovery... supports AOSP/stock ROM it says... just try it.. make a nandroid first of course... oh and you can also ask in that thread, misledz is the expert.. I think the mod is system wide.
Although you can't access equalizer settings within mxplayer... I know mxplayer has a volumeboost option... >200% volume boost not enough?
Hehe.. hope it helped...
yes even with the 200% boost the 720p rips I am trialing [in this case its LOTR TT platinum edition title 1] is too light. in fact through what google excuses as a speaker [guffaw....] its useless. headphones with vol at 100% is just barely useful.
BUT - the good news is that instead of fooling with the whole JB Beats custom stuff, I just went to the store and installed noozxoid and WOW! :good: that is one serious application. HUGE difference not just in volume which really is not the point of it, but in quality, customizations, adjustments, .... That app should be getting a lot more attention than it is. its bigtime https://play.google.com/store/apps/...NvbS5ub296eG9pZGVsYWJzLmVpem8ucmV3aXJlcHJvIl0.
I have not tried netflix since installing it so I will and will put some remarks here. around the web I see a lot of complaining about volume of streamed content on netflix
thank you for your notes
ps if you try out noozxoide note that you must set it up - go through all the settings and pick your stuff. it does not assume/default anything.

NOTE: This quick video just shows my modifications and applications on my Nexus 5. If you want me to go into detail about each of them let me know as this is not a 'tutorial' video, but more like a 'teaser'. I hope you enjoy the video XD.
Any feedback?
ill be honest, not to hurt your feelings or anything, because that's not what im trying to do.. but why does it matter to me what apps and mods that you decided to use?

i think your vids can help more, if they got out more into the public, not really much help on xda though. more of the public is uninformed, as it would help there.

thats the problem :/ how will they reach if no one is giving feedback sharing or anything lol
I like the video. Music is good for the type of video, +1 to the wallpaper because turbos, intro is cool, +1 to the themes, I like the Settings tiling up animation (not sure if that makes sense).
Only thing I would say is smoother camera handling (e.g. min. 55, min. 2:13-2:15) and the angle you have your phone is good but at some points it's hard to tell what app, or what setting you're doing/using because the very top left is blurry.
Also I can tell I'm bored right now waiting for the wifey because I just spent a lot of time reviewing a 3 minute video lol
What's the purpose of the video?
Why not link apps and mods properly with descriptions and instructions.
Why not a step-by-step or how-to?
A 3 minute video I'm forced to watch is useless.
Why spend 3 minutes looking at something?
Now you have to pause, rewind, fast forward parts if you missed something.
Everything written out would save time and not waste everyone else's.
All I see is a video to generate views.

As stated above...I purposely made it without all that because it would be a waste of time. As I have asked what kind of videos people would like to see with no feedback, so I created this for fun. And you are forced? I don't see anyone holding a gun to your head...I mean go dislike, knock yourself out XD
