This has happened once before but this time it really is pissing me off.
I took some pictures and when I tried to view them later all the gallery app would show is a generic multimedia icon for the pics I took. Everything worked fine I thought. The picture it took shrank and went down to the bottom left corner and was viewable there. So I didn't check the pics immediately.
When it wouldn't view them I hooked up to my computer and the file size of the pictures I took was 0 and of course they weren't viewable on the PC either.
I rebooted the phone and then the camera would actually store pics it took.
It really pisses me off because I took pictures of a wreck I was involved in where a woman hit me. I didn't realise that I couldn't view the photos until after the cops left and I had gone home!!
Running stock ROM but rooted.
Any ideas?

Everything else on the phone works well apart from the photo album, it just refuses to load up at all, and i cannot even open up pictures through explorer.
It's really frustrating as all hell..
remove all your pics off your sd to your computer. mkae sure there are no pictures on the card. Take apicture with your camera and see If it can view it now. I had the same problem untill I found out one of the pictures were causing photo album to crash. I went through 2 phones before I realised the problem was just one picture.

Thanks man, It worked. Found out it was this huge 500meg video i recorded the other day.
Anyone have issues with the stock Gallery app. showing blank, blank pictures. The pictures are only there in the app., as when I go to the Files app., only the real pictures exist.
The pictures are just loading slowly...
Naw, all of the real pictures are. These are like a duplicate of every real picture, but blank.
Move finger to delete
Press delete
????
PROFIT!
That's not really a resolution, especially when there are hundreds of pictures.
Playing around with this more, I connected the phone to my laptop, re-arranged the pictures, deleted some old folders. Then, I went back to the gallery on the phone, and it still showed the old folders. It must be caching something, but the app. has no settings really.
Same problem in Samsung Galaxy S i9000
I am facing the same problem in Samsung Galaxy s GT i9000.
Its really annoying.
I can't even delete the duplicate or blank pics.
When I try to delete even 1 pic it shows deleting with busy status and doesn't come out of it.
I didn't have this problem before the froyo update(official release). Just adding this so that it may give a clue.
Eagerly waiting for a solution for this problem.

Got my 6P yesterday and getting it set up. I Have an issue I just can't seem to get around easily. I have all my pics from my last phone stored on my computer. If I copy those pics to the internal storage of my new phone google photos will create duplicates correct? If so how can I avoid this? I'm sure I am overlooking something. Thanks
I think it intelligently skips dupes based on file name and timestamp info. I had Google Photos on my Nexus 6 and loaded it onto my 6p to get access to all the old ones. I then remembered that I had a ton of photos in Dropbox and Copy with their respective photo backup options from multiple years on old phones (before Google Photos existed). I went on my PC and downloaded ALL of them (like 3,000 photos) then uploaded via Google Photos web. Some of those were already in there for sure, and it does not appear there are duplicates. I would try it with a small test that you know for sure is in there and see if it dupes, and if it doesn't, just upload from PC. No need to move to your phone first.
I used Chrome and I just dragged and dropped the photos onto the Google Photos tab and it uploaded. I let it run overnight and it did almost 2,000 photos in one shot, just took a while.

Thanks, that kinda worked. I disabled backup before copying the pics to my phone just in case it started backing things up. It did appear there were many duplicates but it was easy to see what was a duplicate bu the not backed up icon in the pics. Once I removed them I turned back up back on. Minor inconvenience.
Hi everyone -
It's been a while since I've been around these parts, but I recently switched from my Note 3 to the Note 4 just a week or so ago, and having only a single issue that is perplexing me that I would be very grateful if anyone knows how to troubleshoot. I've attached a screenshot of my current hardware/firmware setup in case this is needed.
Basically, my stock Gallery app doesn't show thumbnails of anything. When I open the Gallery, I can see all the sub-sections just fine (i.e. camera, movies, gifs, pictures, etc), but can't actually see a sample thumbnail from any of those sub-sections.
If I click on one of the sub-sections (for example, Camera), I can see all the files that exist in there, but still no thumbnails. It's reading all my media files just fine, the phone is "seeing" them all.
Even weirder still is that if I click on the very first picture file in that Camera sub-category, it opens the picture just fine. HOWEVER, if I try to zoom on the picture, the screen instantly goes black. Once I zoom back out, I can see the full picture again. Try to zoom in, goes black; zoom back out, see it just fine.
I currently am running a 128gb U1 Samsung MicroSD card in the phone, and have everything saved there. But I've also tried changing the settings so the phone saves a camera shot to the internal storage and the same thing still happens (no thumbnails in the Gallery or the sub-section, and no ability to zoom on the file).
I'm lost here. I've never had this issue with my LG Chocolate, S2 or Note 3. Short of a hard reset, any ideas? The phone was brand new. Truly, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Nobody? Any ideas? Please....
First try a factory reset, if that does not fix your issue then download stock firmware from sammobile and flash it with odin. you can youtube "how to flash stock firmware with odin" to get more details.
I was on holiday for 3 weeks and using s10+ to take a lot of photo but just before the holiday finish I find that all the photo taken before June are all gone. All I have left with are the photos taking since June 1st. I look at the recycle bin but there is nothing. Also tried unmount and remount the sd card but it doesn't help either.
There are some other reports on the internet for the same issue. I am just wondering does anyone here has a clue on how to get the missing photo back?
Just a thought but check your Google photos if they are there perhaps? Google photos sometimes deletes pics from your phone after uploading them to the cloud.
