The HTC HD2 power - HD2 General

Hey guys.
So, everybody know that the HTC HD2 is the most developed device ever. I was wondering, is there another device that would handle so many OS? I mean, there's the nexus, note, sII, ect...
But would this devices handle ubuntu, android, meego, wp7, and, well, windows mobile at once?
Or are the devs missing? Will the HD2 be the only device supporting 5 OS at once?

Any OS to android is a hell lot easier then android to other OSes Eg. wp7

Hi, yes I have the same question myself. I have the Mighty HD2 too but recently I replaced the screen and after that the buttons stopped working right! I only have windows key and green key ..... Anyway I've a sucpicion that my main board might be starting to fail??
So what device is likely to replace the HD2? I've gotten very used to having a WP and Android phone in one???
Maybe the next wp8 HTC? Are there devs out there?

It might just be the button's flex cable.

Yeah I thought that but I bought new screen and digitizer (with new keypad buttons) and had same problem (actually the win key and green key still work, so the fault must be on the main board? It still works though I just remapped keypad buttons so I have back & power - happy days

Yeah I thought, or hoped, that at first but I have the same problem with a different screen and digitizer assembly connected. So it must be on the board? Thankfully I still have the use of two buttons (win key & green key) so in WP I remapped them to work as back key and power key.
I had to reinstall mgldr and set it to 'always menu' so I can choose between android and wp. :victory:
Anyone with any ideas as to possible solution?

Android?

Hi,
I keep hearing about ANDROID... What is it? whats the advantage of having this?
i tried searching but couldnt work out why it would be an advantage to the HTC Touch hd?
thanks
Android is a phone operating system produced by Google.
It isn't available on the Touch HD (it may never be).

Well, Dude, it depends on how you judge the deficiencies of the HD. Most of the problems that are posted in this forum - if you agree that they are problems - are connected to Windows Mobile, not on the HD hardware itselves. The Touch HD is a state-of-the-art hardware. Yet, it hangs, freezes, responds unwillingly and so on - sometimes. The upcoming WM6.5 will be more hardware power consuming (MS pointed out that next versions of WM and IE will not run on "older" devices - we know what this means ...).
Therefore, people are looking for an alternative option. The HD with a fast and stable OS: That would be it!

WP7 downgrate to wm6.5 ??

Is it possibile to downgrate Phone with mp7 (like HTC trophy) to WM 6.X ??
I also like that, windows 7 sucks
You guys kinda bought the wrong phone then huh?
You guys are kidding right?
what ever you think, i'm just asking.. i'm just wonder is it possible to do somthing like that.
Most likly not, this would be due to drivers not written for the hardware in windows 6.5. How people have got around this in the past is to find hardware from other phones that have run the OS you are after and porting the drivers into a package you can use on your phone, there isn't really any other phone of this type that has run windows 6.5 hence my answer.
Why do you find 6.5 better than 7, is it more software, more hacks, better interface?
Personally I find I can't do much on Windows 7 at the moment but also understand the market needs to be built, the amount of settings is very limited but that is more of a mindset.
for me wp7 is ok, not so much softwere - no problem. The most important thing for me is my broker soft, it's writen for .Net compact and i can't run it on wp7 :/
I agree,
It is really that all the apps that I had on the WM6.5 and used to no longer work with WP7. I understand that this is a new OS, but still I will agree with the people at the top. I was a little hasty in purchasing it, and in hindsight, I should not have.
Another way, if drivers are an issue, is has anyone ever tried to flash a Trophy with an Android rom, or is this completely insane?
Wp7 device HTC 7 Mozart
Q1. Is there PIMBACKUP for WP7 so i can restore my wm6.1 contacts to WP7 device? so desprate dnt have all contacts either on fb nor on any other web account email etc. don't know what to do.

its plausible. but will need great amount of Dev Support.
You need to write drivers which should be compatible with Dell Hardware.
That will be the biggest challenge...after its done the hardware can handle the OS flawlessly...
I know Cotulla would be a good person to ask this.
It's been a while since last post on this thread, but I will ask again. Is there a possibility of this happening. I am a long time windows mobile user, last phone was HTC Touch Pro/Titl 2 (I have both). 6.5 was great, I wanted more speed. Got DVP, great hardware, software absolutely sucks. Need to go back to WM 6.5. Wi-Fi Sharing, Email refreshing every 15 minutes, not using acceleration and light sensors to its fullest extent, not being able to save stuff on file system, not running WM 6.5 apps, list goes on and on.
Any ideas anyone ?

hi
i have done some inquiries to this matter some time back. and it seems it is possible but difficult. nobody is interested in wm anymore, except for few guys like you and me. most of the capable devs who could make this possible are not interested in wm anymore and too busy with android and wp7. as the previous reply suggests why dont you pm cotulla? he might be able to give better advice. or the next best thing you could do is trade your DVP to a hd2, which is the best phone around running wm. but minus the keyboard. and have you tried wp7 with the mango update? doesnt it support most of previously missing functions?
I can sell DVP and probably even make money on it as I currently reside outside of the US. WP7 has taken away a lot of features. Mango was a little improvement from 7.0, but still has a long way to go. The IMAP email refresh 15 minutes is horrible, I use phone as internet connection backup, WM6.5 apps don't work, I have some of my own apps I wrote, those don't work of course. WP7 looks great and works great for a regular Joe Shmoe, but for me as a business user it doesnt cut it. It's really not worth it for me to sink in so much time into this. PM'ing the guy who knows about this won't do any good, not like he is going to sink in weeks of his time into it, you know. I will go back to my Tilt2/TP2, Titlt2 for use in Latin America, TP2 on T-Mobile while in US, Titlt2 also gets use on At&T networks in US. Probably looks like for me to get some more speed need to invest in a pair of HD2's AT&T and T-Mobile radio frequencies. They will do 2 things I'm missing now: faster browsing + ability to zoom-in using Multi-Touch. If you find out of any new phones that would make me happy (HTC HD2 + keyboard LOL) pls let me know. DVP running WM6.5 would be a damn good phone though . Thanks for input !!
ok...gud luck with your work..will let u know if i come across any news..

[Q] How to install WM6.5 on a WM 7 Device ?!!!

Hi Everybody !
you all know how strange it might be some requests form your boss but this is the most strange one !
My Boss has a system that work on WM 6.5 only and doesn't work on WM 7 and he requested that I should Provide him with 40 New WM 6.5 devices !
you know that they are not available currently So I figured out that I should buy new WM 7 Devices and Flash it Back to WM 6.5 !
I think theoretically this is possible but have anyone tried it ?!!!
I want to Try it on HTC 7 pro Device , Could anyone tell me wha the steps I need to do that ?
any other suggested Devices ? I only want it to be New ,with QWERTY keypad and I can install WM 6.5 on it !
Thank you all in Advance.
Your only choice may be a new 6.5 device, and not much else. The HTC HD2 is still available, here in the UK, it is now the only 6.5 device stocked by Expansys on their web site.
How much longer will they be around? What's HTC's roadmap for the WinMo HD2?
Flashing 6.5 over a Phone 7 device, is asking for an expensive error.

[Q] Windows mobile 5 and Android device

Hello Guys,
I have a very tricky question for you, so if it is not possible to do what I want, tell me.
I work with bats and I need a windows mobile 5 device to make a connection with a bat detector.
I also have a HTC One X "global edition" and a malfunctioning HTC HD2 "Leo" that I think it that can be repaired (it fell in the water and the backlight is not working). The first one is running the newest Sense and Android 4.2.2 and the last one has a ICS ROM.
What I am asking you guys is:
It as any way to running the WM5 in the HTC One X using a "emulator" or something?
Or you think that is "easier and cheaper" to repair the HTC Leo and downgrade to WM5?
The program that I need to use is capable to running in WM6 but not in all devices.
Thank you!
Best regards,
Fred

Hello, if you need a gadget running windows mobile 5 natively, I have a HTC Universal (MDA PRO) lying idle somewhere in the house. The problems are that I live in Germany and the OS is in German. You can make me an offer if you dont mind to have the gadget notwithstanding.
