Android? - Touch HD General

Hi,
I keep hearing about ANDROID... What is it? whats the advantage of having this?
i tried searching but couldnt work out why it would be an advantage to the HTC Touch hd?
thanks

Android is a phone operating system produced by Google.
It isn't available on the Touch HD (it may never be).

Well, Dude, it depends on how you judge the deficiencies of the HD. Most of the problems that are posted in this forum - if you agree that they are problems - are connected to Windows Mobile, not on the HD hardware itselves. The Touch HD is a state-of-the-art hardware. Yet, it hangs, freezes, responds unwillingly and so on - sometimes. The upcoming WM6.5 will be more hardware power consuming (MS pointed out that next versions of WM and IE will not run on "older" devices - we know what this means ...).
Therefore, people are looking for an alternative option. The HD with a fast and stable OS: That would be it!

HTC Touch Cube, Flo, OS . . . ?

Hello,
I have seen videos on You Tube with Touch Flo interface running on HTC 8125 WM5. When I ask where do you find this interface they all refer to xda developers for the interface. I'm newbie and looked in the search area for a true Touch Flo interface. I have an HTC 8525 WM6 PRO 3.0 BLACK and running a Touch cube interface. This is nice but not like the actual Touch Flo that I see on HTC 8125. First do I have to downgradr back to WM5 in order to run interface. Secondly is there a thread/link to where this interface/OS is located. Sorry if I may have overlooked the answer in my search. Thank you in advance.
this has been talked about MANY times the hermes will never support the real touch flow sorry to say!

This is not such a bad thing... its definitely not worth buying a Touch over. I'm testing one of the beta units now for CDMA and not having the keyboard kills me.

VSNotepad 2.5: Does it work??

To you this software works?
http://www.virtualspaghetti.com/index.php?index=31&language=en
Would like to know also, the thought of such a large screen and scribbling notes... I think this would swing me to the HD over from the Pro!
I don't know this software yet, but you answered your own question by posting the link.
Look at http://www.virtualspaghetti.com/index.php?index=30&language=en
and search for:
New Version 2.5:
* Now Compatible with 240x400 screens (WQVGA)
Samsung i900 Omnia,...
* Now Compatible with 480x800 screens (WVGA)
Xperia X1 Sony Ericsson, HTC Touch HD,...

it installs fine, it is compatable with the HD (version 2.5 supports 480x800)...
...but, after installing the program on the HD, i realised it messed up the screen, when you try and make a note, its not calibrated, you tap one part of the screen but it thinks your touching a different part.

i guess its not compatable with the HD, the resolution is supported, but its probably another problem, the website mentions the x1 is supported and doesnt mention the HD. im guessing this is the reason why. You will just have to wait untill they release something that works for us.
All I know is that the webpage says it is kompatible to the hd. (see attachment)
But if you got problems then there may be a bug.
Or they didn't test the new version on the hd.
Anyway.
I don't have this program.
And I don'T got my hd yet.
The developers claim this works on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 which is also WVGA, but I have the exact same problems as reported here.
News from the developers...

Hi,
First of all, sorry for the delay.
We have discovered some screen problem with the Touch HD.
This problem is know and will be fixed in our next release(available soon).
Best Regards,
Virtual Spaghetti Support.

I do have exactly this effect on my XPERIA X1. Hopefully the developers from spagetti can fix that because I'd really like to use the soft.

TV out only software missing?

i understand that their chip set of touch pro and touch hd are the same. yet the hd has no tv out. do you think only a software program that will activate the tv out of the hd? is that possible?
Ive been thinking the same, I beleive hardware is very much the same, it would cheaper that way than designing it all again. Still hard to believe why they didint include it for this one, everyone thought its a no brainer, lots of websites are still reporting it incorrectly.
Edit: Hehe I still have faith that they just hit the deadline and needed to get the product to the market, unfinished software or not. So maybe its included in the next rom update
can the rom cooker extract the progrm from touch pro to hd or make a cab out of the touch pro? he he he just a wild experiment.

1. That would be illegal.
2. You could end turning your Blackstone into a Brick.
From the information I have read, the Blackstone is missing the hardware to allow TV Out.
Beards
I thought all the cooking and sharing cooked roms are illegal, since most of it is MS copyrighted software.
There is no Settings or it, which tells me that out of the box there is no TV-Out support. It's possible that there is a hack for it, though.

[Q] Hero with Windows Mobile 6.5

I have a G3 Hero from china which have windows mobile 6.5.
Seems to work
I miss the Touch Flo UI. Its a HVGA screen.
Is it possible to run some cab to have a touch flo?
erm could you share a backup or something?`Oo
Are you sure it`s not just a chinese clone?
Hero
yes its something from china- but seems to be the same device (also htc sync contains fitting driver)
Afaik, this is a fake, as there have been a few similar posts here about these devices and how to do a hard reset when they crash.
But to the best of my knowledge, these are pretty much eschewed by devs, and I don't think touchflo is as simple as a cab to install.
but why in the hell would someone have WM6.5 instead of any other OS ???
a fake? my post? my device?
I have it - i use it.- it works- Touch flo is nothing else the a shell ala spbmobile shell (which works perfect). I already installed two T3DF's which runs in general but doesnt shows up the right ui. Do you thing HTC can change an 3rd party os?
Anyway- I believe key points for shell and working is OS (6.5) processor (Qualcomm /arm) and screen resolution HVGA . If that fits- I see no reason why not.
But back to my question. Who have an idea which of the "hundrets" which are out there could be the working one.
You could download an All In One cab for TF2D, and skin that. I am not so sure for TF3d though. You'd need to change the xml file(s) and resize all the images, unless of course, you manage to find one already done.
After all this is done, there is still no guarantee that it will work. Afterall, TouchFlo is for HTC devices and is HTC Inellectual property. I think they must be pretty annoyed that it has been ripped and thrown on to some China Phones, and also is able to be run on numberous samsung phones etc.

its plausible. but will need great amount of Dev Support.
You need to write drivers which should be compatible with Dell Hardware.
That will be the biggest challenge...after its done the hardware can handle the OS flawlessly...
I know Cotulla would be a good person to ask this.
It's been a while since last post on this thread, but I will ask again. Is there a possibility of this happening. I am a long time windows mobile user, last phone was HTC Touch Pro/Titl 2 (I have both). 6.5 was great, I wanted more speed. Got DVP, great hardware, software absolutely sucks. Need to go back to WM 6.5. Wi-Fi Sharing, Email refreshing every 15 minutes, not using acceleration and light sensors to its fullest extent, not being able to save stuff on file system, not running WM 6.5 apps, list goes on and on.
Any ideas anyone ?

hi
i have done some inquiries to this matter some time back. and it seems it is possible but difficult. nobody is interested in wm anymore, except for few guys like you and me. most of the capable devs who could make this possible are not interested in wm anymore and too busy with android and wp7. as the previous reply suggests why dont you pm cotulla? he might be able to give better advice. or the next best thing you could do is trade your DVP to a hd2, which is the best phone around running wm. but minus the keyboard. and have you tried wp7 with the mango update? doesnt it support most of previously missing functions?
I can sell DVP and probably even make money on it as I currently reside outside of the US. WP7 has taken away a lot of features. Mango was a little improvement from 7.0, but still has a long way to go. The IMAP email refresh 15 minutes is horrible, I use phone as internet connection backup, WM6.5 apps don't work, I have some of my own apps I wrote, those don't work of course. WP7 looks great and works great for a regular Joe Shmoe, but for me as a business user it doesnt cut it. It's really not worth it for me to sink in so much time into this. PM'ing the guy who knows about this won't do any good, not like he is going to sink in weeks of his time into it, you know. I will go back to my Tilt2/TP2, Titlt2 for use in Latin America, TP2 on T-Mobile while in US, Titlt2 also gets use on At&T networks in US. Probably looks like for me to get some more speed need to invest in a pair of HD2's AT&T and T-Mobile radio frequencies. They will do 2 things I'm missing now: faster browsing + ability to zoom-in using Multi-Touch. If you find out of any new phones that would make me happy (HTC HD2 + keyboard LOL) pls let me know. DVP running WM6.5 would be a damn good phone though . Thanks for input !!
ok...gud luck with your work..will let u know if i come across any news..
