Hi guys
No very soon we will get the DHD
But do you think. DHD has all the features or it missing any features
Thanks

From what everyone has been able to read and see so far the only thing that would be desirable (no pun intended) would be a HDMI port. For me at least anyway.
I think the lack of a built-in coffee machine is unforgivable. Other than that, it seems OK

It seems to have most of the features of current phones, but there are some things it could do better like the camera, screen, battery life etc. There's no such thing as the perfect device unfortunately.
Front camera, camera button, HDMI, pouch and headphones in the box, bigger battery.
It's not perfect of course, but I think it has everything I want satisfied better than any other phone on the market. And that's what matters, I'm sick of waiting for new phones to come out before upgrading from my featurephone
- HDMI
- 8 (or 16) gb Internal memory
- A (much) better camera... The photos taken by dhd that I've seen on internet are very very poor! They seem that they have been upscaled by software to 8 mpx... blown highlights and so on.... very disappointing
IMO I dont think its laking in anything ...
1.5GB is fine for apps when has anyone had more than 700Mb of apps ? (waits to be flamed )
The shots from the camera look poor but i dont think thats the scensor ... maybe test S/W or drivers as the pictures from the N1/wildfire/Desire's 5MP camera are better.
Only thing it could have is HDMI but with the media streaming im not too fussed :-D
All in all this phone is a beast H/W wise
where r the beloved trackball/pad ???

Well I am a Spotify Premium user so 8gb to 16gb of built in memory would have been great ..... but can live with it being on an sd card
Just one feature lacks: a better resolution display to match iPhone 4.

better speaker
Missing HDMI
Missing hard camera button
Missing front camera(Really?)
Missing trackball

it is too far away from a perfect phone.

A HDMI port would be nice, but I spose DLNA (is that it?) makes up for that.
Hopefully the screen will live up to the 'HD' name (my touch HD doesn't )

+1 from me. I've got an HTC Desire just now and so far not seeing enough to persuade me to change to a Desire HD. Also not sure I can face the risk of going through the hassle of the Bluetooth not working with my car gain, which was the case with the Desire until we had the FroYo update.
Auto focus in camcorder ... iPhone doing this since 3gs..
Android fault or HTC I don't know.
Hi,
I am considering the Arc to be my next phone but I would like to know about its video capabilities. In nearly all HTC phones, when recording in low light conditions/at night, the camera tries to compensate the lack of light and this tends to make the video lose frames and to be really choppy. Does the Arc perform better and does it skips frames in bad lighting conditions?
Thanks!!
Videos are great on the Arc, I'd say better than on HTC.
Didn't test it on my Arc yet but in youtube are smooth videos from the Arc.

Most of HTC phones have really ****ty cameras, actually the worse on the market.
Don't even wonder. Arc is another planet.
best cam of HTC is at Sensation, and is one of the best on the market now... i think
HTC Sensation is a class lower compared to Xperia Arc - not only with regard to the camera.
Dualcore is not everything.

Even mobile-review proves different.
GSMArena has a comparison of the LG Optimus 2X, HTC Sensation and Samsung Galaxy S2 which also features various other handsets at different junctures.
When comparing still image and video capture, they also throw in the Arc for good measure.
Draw your own conclusions.
If u own 1 HTC, then you own all off em because they all look the same. That's why I bought the ARC.
I agree, HTC phones are one class lower than SonyEricsson in terms of build quality, design and phone technology.
By just comparing the phone battery technology, all their phones are still using Lithium Ion Battery while SonyEricsson's phone are using Lithium Polymer and everyone should know that there are more benefits for Lithium Polymer over Lithium Ion Batteries.
Hey thanks for all your replies. I think I'll have to try one at the shop to get a better idea on the device itself before deciding. Still, the camera seems to be the only thing that appeals to me - the screen is a bit small (I've own 4.3 hd2/desire hd and now a 5 inch dell streak). Will definitely have to play with it - still the Arc seems to be a very sexy phone!
Thanks all!
Some of these replies look quite fanboyish.. there's a reason HTC sells so many phones..more than SE atleast
Anyway, add me to the SE fanboy list Until I get bored of Timescape I will stick to SE
There are 2 simple reasons why htc have and still do sell more phones than SE....
1. They've been in the android business since the start..
2. Until now SE's android phones have been relatively poor, and therefore SE had a bad rep.

I have a last question : If the zoom function is used while recording a video, does the camera automatically auto-focuses the video to make it clearer/sharper, or is the video blurry when zoom is used like in every phone model? Thanks!!

Oh now i realised why all videos on youtube don't have any zoom on them. Thank you very much for the infos.
I've currently got an Xperia Arc and a HTC Desire S. The camera on the Arc is superior to that on the HTC as is video recording. I've actually been a bit shocked by how poor the HTC Desire S camera is for pictures although a friend with the new Sensation says that it has a great camera, he does however qualify that by going on to say it is great "for a HTC camera" which to me, says it all.

Hi,
I have the HTC Desire Z and I would like to get a 2nd phone.
There are only 2 options for me: The Arc or the Desire S. I think both HTC and SE are top manufactures in terms of design and build quality, the rest are just iS**t clones
I like the Desire S because of the uni-body aluminum design, but I think The Arc is nicer. I am a little bit concerned about the quality of the plastic on the Arc's back, an also i don't like the size ( 3,7 seams ideal for me).
I don't care about the camera, but I'm sure SE's is much better.
Hey folks!
I´m one of the most enthusiastic Streak user within us (coming from an HD2 ) and I´m loving my new phone...
BUT: As all of you surely know, the camera is a not-so-funny-joke compared to phones like the HD2. So after many months where nobody has talked about this, my question is: What are your solutions/workaraounds for better pictures?
I´ve just tried the obvious: camera360 & MagicHour. But no, it doesn´t make it much better.
Last but not least: Is there some hope e.g. for getting some better drivers? Hope dies last, I´m praying for some very kind devs with similar intentions
Hmmm everyone knows the Streak's camera is no great and I think this has to do with the camera module itself. Look at HTC's camera, they mostly suck especially in low light conditions and in video recording at night - till now even if there is a great amount of developpers working on htc phones, no one has successfully modded them. And to tell you the truth, considering that the Streak is not that popular for modders, chances are really really weak that someone will work on it.
I think Sony Ericsson X10/Arc/N8/Infuse/Mytouch4G Slide are among the best camera phone if I'm not mistaken.

i also agree. sony ericsson and nokia always best in camera. i also own a streak 5. but my old nokia 6600 slide is 10times better quality photo thn streak though its only 3.2 MP.
I find the Streak's camera is perfect for quick shots, but prefer using my three-year old digital camera since its CCD sensor is larger than the one in the Streak.
With Camera360, the photos come out with a quality more pleasing to the eyes than the stock camera. It's ok to take photos if you are not picky about quality but don't expect jaw-dropping photos!
My fav camera phone goes definitely to the Nokia N8 and Sony Satio/X10 - they maybe a bit old, but when you take photos or videos, you can show them to everyone since the quality is high above than most smartphones!
I use a proper camera if I want to take proper photographs, the Streak is handy for the odd snapshot but it's a phone/tablet device, not a camera.
Yeah, my solution to poor phone cameras is to not use them. If the Streak didn't have a camera I wouldn't miss it.

I've come from the iPhone 4s and I can tell you I'll never go back to Apple. The Xperia Z1 is a fantastic phone. The camera has never overheated for me, and I use it lots to record videos, take photos. The phone rooted is even more powerful, the battery easily lasts all day for me. It also lasts 2 days with light use.
It's a little big for some people, but I do so much with it, I won't be letting go of this phone for a while. It's fast, it's smart, it's a great design.
You won't regret buying it.
My gf has a G2 and I have a Z1, I really do prefer the Z1. Except smaller bezels and a slightly better screen IMHO the Z1 wins out on all areas. G2 UI is very touchwiz like, cluttered and looks like it drawn with crayons while Z1 is clean and super smooth. Z1
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
I wouldn't be so hasty to get this phone if I were you. I own both a S4 and a Z1 and I'd have to say that the S4 is way more value for money. It takes equivalent pics (despite having only 13 MP cam compared to Z1's 20MP), comparable performance in day-to-day use, much better screen, smaller size, removable battery, IR blaster. It's overall a more versatile device and I use it as my daily driver for that reason.
The only aspects Z1 has the S4 beat hands-down are the beautiful design, smooth and elegant UI and premium feel in hand. If these are important to you, then by all means consider the Z1. You should however be wary of the numerous issues plaguing this phone - worst of which is the touchscreen issue which I'm experiencing. Just look through the threads and you'll know what I mean.
I previously had the s4 and would never go back it would feel like a downgrade

Both phones are pretty awesome really, but the LG software...damn its uglier than a natural disaster
Never had an issue with the camera(or anything else) myself and it has great battery life
Now the G2 has better viewing angles and more saturated colors so if that's your kind of thing, other than that well its up to you
Sent from my C6906 using Tapatalk
I have the Z1, and my dad has the G2. I prefer the G2 for videos, as the screen is bigger and more comfortable to hold. Images taken with the G2 also tend to be less grainy from what I could see, and the colors seemed to be better, however, this is without adjusting any of the camera settings, since I unfortunately do not know how to fully utilize the camera. UI wise though, the Z1 wins by a longshot, the LG UI is a bastardized and even more cluttered version of Touchwiz.
Am Buying this device, decided to wait for 2014 flagship but as in official announcement Z1 will be the 2014 flagship this is a great device.
+ Point is expandable storage,which other phones like G2,Nexus 5 don't have.
Development is little slower, but not abandoned. Will try to port MIUI As well.

acervenky,

Here's my point of view. I've used LG g2 for a brief period and let me tell you, it has the best smartphone display I've ever seen in my life. The reviews don't mention it or nor do they do justice to it. It's almost like you're touching the words when you're browsing the Web . I hate their UI but that's something that can be easily fixed with a launcher like nova or apex. Having said that let me move on to the next one.
Galaxy s4, this device I've had for almost three months. I used to own the Google edition. I know you didnt asked for this to be compared but since some of the guys mentioned above I thought I'd add my pov. It's a nice device. The screen is beautiful, the camera is decent, supports sd card, removeable battery and ir blaster. Decent phone but if you look past this some of these features are novelties plus you're getting a processor ie a generation behind. I also I don't know if it's just me but the phone tends to get boring really fast.
Now to the final one. The z1. After looking at the first two devices you'll immediately notice one thing. The xperia z1 has the worst viewing angles than any phone I've ever used. It's horrific. It kinda reminds me of Sega game gear from the 80's. Some people might tell you it doesn't bother them but according to me their are not paying attention. In order to get the complete image quality you need to hold the phone straight to your face. Even a tiny 5 degree tilt will make the images look washed out. The closed thing I can compare it with is the 3m privacy screen protectors for computer monitors. Try one out and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Now, if you look past the horrible viewing angles things start looking up for the Z1. Here are some of the advantages over g2: outstanding building quality, sd card support, amazing battery life, outstanding camera, water proof and better ui (in my opinion).
The camera: anyone whose stating above that g2's or s4s camera is great is incorrect. The reason being the displays. These phones have saturated displays with higher contrast ratios which automatically makes the pictures look better. However if you were to take pictures on all three phones and to watch the pictures on a monitor, you'll see that the xperia z1 clearly has the best camera. As per reviews and benchmarks the z1's camera is only second to lumia 1020 and that's saying something.
So, now you decide. Based on your requirement z1 looks like an obvious choice. Personally for me I'm using z1. But what I would have liked to use is the LG g2. The only reason I went with z1 is because of the SD card support, camera is not a priority for me.
I've had both and the G2 pimp slaps the Z1.. The display which way better and because of the smaller bezels, you get a bigger screen with the G2 and its the same size as the Z1.. My screen time on the stock G2 with same brightness is about 1.5 hours better than the Z1.. Viewing angles are better... The Z1 weighs like a brick and although better built then the G2 and feeling better to hold, I prefer the G2 due to its lightness... The Z1 is clumsy IMO.. Software wise, Sony is better.. LG UI is like Bloatwiz but less way less laggy.. Sony UI is faster and I do miss that... Camera on G2 doesn't have all the yellow hue problems but low light focusing is atrocious... Lack of SD is a problem but you can get around it with an external micro USB SD card reader... On the whole, no regrets here getting the G2..

I can agree with you on a lot of your points, but as far as battery life, the G2 is unbelievable! I use my phone as much as anyone. I can get 6+ hours of on screen time along with close to 3 hours of talk time in a single charge and still be at 15% before needing to charge the phone. It has a 3000 battery like the Z1. Time will tell on the Z1 and it is doing well so far. If it can truly do better on battery than the G2, I will be highly impressed.
For me, I primarily use the camera for snapping pictures of my daughter, work projects and just day to day things. I don't own another camera so I need to rely heavily on my phone. I am still learning the ins and outs of the camera on the Z1, but the settings right out of the box seem to pretty low standard. However, if you put the camera in manual mode, choose the 20.7 resolution and then use the multi focus mode, they are MUCH better than what you get from the superior auto option.
These are just my opinions and experience.

I easily get 6 hours + screentime on my Z1
1 -2 hours asphalt 8
2-4 hours 3g browsing, movies, camera etc...
First, I'd like to say that I'm not trying to hate on Sony or bash them, just pointing out that what they call "the best of Sony" isn't exactly great or better than the competition, though I really just want to point out about the display and camera. I moved on from the Note 3 to the Z1 (lost my Note 3, wanted a good phone with a good camera for a low price so I got an Xperia Z1), and here's what I've noticed.
Display:
Well, there's no other way to say it: for a flagship phone, the Z1's display isn't that great. Viewing angles are poor, and viewing it at even small angles puts a whitish hue over it that just doesn't look good. It might be good for privacy, but otherwise it's plain to see that they're using an inferior IPS tech than other manufacturers. The Note 3 or the Nexus 5's displays are clearly much better, and so is the one on the HTC One from early 2013. I've heard that the Z1 Compact finally has a great screen among Sony devices, so that's great, but I feel that many Sony fans are clearly ignorant of how much greener the grass in on the other side when it comes to displays.
Camera
To be honest, this is the biggest disappointment I've had with the Z1. I don't know if Sony was focusing purely on lossless zoom when adding the 20MP camera, but when it comes to resolved detail and visible noise, the Note 3's camera was better despite no fancy tech and standard sensor. Sure, it has a 13MP camera while the Z1 takes photos at 8MP after downsampling, but in general its photos are clearer and more detailed. I've tried taking 20MP pics, and they just do not come out as great as one would expect (if they focused on lossless zoom, even that hasn't worked out well in general outdoor photos), and Sony has basically squandered a nice opportunity.
But on the flip side, I love some things about the camera. It's fast to open (mainly thanks to the camera button), it's smooth, and is quick to change modes, which helped a lot on my weekend trip with my family.) I don't like that HDR isn't a dedicated mode and is simply a switch when you select 8MP photos in Manual, but other than that, it's pretty good overall. In fact, the quickness and the shutter button are what make me ignore the fact that in quality I've come down to a noticeably not-so-great-at-capturing-detail camera (the Note 3 took ages to select modes, open the camera app, and open pictures.)
That's something that's true in Sony's software overall: it's beautiful, sleek, and quick and responsive. I do miss some features from the Note 3 (Multi-Window, Smart Stay (extremely useful when you can't be bothered touching the screen to keep it awake), some camera modes, and the better multitasking (my Z1 is abysmal at holding apps in memory, and not because it's just 2GB of RAM.) It feels good to use, and that's a pretty good thing.
But again, the screen and camera have let me down considerably. Again, on the flip side, I love the phone's build (though it's a bit too bulky, but then it is waterproof), and things like the lanyard slot and camera button (conveniences manufacturers have forgotten in their quest to copy and follow Apple since the first iPhone arrived on the market).
So in the end it's clear that "the best of Sony" just isn't the right thing to say when your tech is behind the competition in some things and just isn't as great as owners of flagship devices of the competition have become used to. The pricing is great, though, but I kinda don't think I'd want to save a few bucks next time I want a phone, not unless Sony focuses on making the hardware more complete regarding awesomeness.
Sorry for the rant, and again, I wasn't bashing, overall I like my Z1, just don't love it (yet)!
P.S.: My Galaxy Gear is also now sitting idle, but I guess we can blame Samsung for making its watch incompatible with other devices. It's a useful watch, but not in use anymore. There is a hack to make it work with others, I tried it with the Z1, but most stuff just doesn't work. So I guess I'll buy Sony's smartwatch next. :silly:
P.P.S.: I hope KitKat comes soon. I like that Sony takes time to test its software, but with Samsung and HTC moving pretty quick with KitKat despite having heavy skins, and Samsung has even managed to not introduce any quirky bugs (they disabled third-party accessories, but an update over the weekend reversed that), I really want KitKat to come quick. I want wireless printing support (Samsung had this even before KitKat, one of the few reasons I appreciate Samsung's bloat sometimes, it has some useful features), and it might also solve the issue of lack of RAM on the Z1, even if only a little bit.
This is what you do on Sunday afternoon? We know Z1 is not best like expected.

It's Sunday night where I am, and I had to get my thoughts out there after using the Z1's camera extensively the last two days (I bought the phone on Thursday.)

Saturday Night? You should be in some club! ..ahah...just kidding...I know...I am really disappointed by the camera too....what I can surely said is that the problem of the camera quality is related to the Software, but I don't know if we will get better pictures. Many telling me that the Z1 make amazing pictures but mine is not fake and I still not get clear pictures like it should be. Full of Noise, and with Unlocked Bootloader get even worse.
I understand what you're saying, and you have valid points, but these type of complaints come up with every phone out there.
The HTC One has exactly the same Camera complaint that you do. The UltraPixel was a big disappointment for some. The thing about the Z1's camera is that it CAN be improved. The camera is actually extremely good if you use it in manual, and the pictures that come out are the best I've seen on an Android phone. Superior Auto is a bit of a mess though. That's a software problem, not hardware, so we hope kitKat can fix that.
The display is a valid complaint, but I feel head on it's better than the Note 3. The Z1 has one of the most color accurate screens out there, which I prefer over AMOLED oversaturation. The viewing angles personally for me isn't a problem but yes, it is a negative about this phone.
So in the end it's clear that "the best of Sony" just isn't the right thing to say when your tech is behind the competition in some things and just isn't as great as owners of flagship devices of the competition have become used to

Well, the Z1 IS the best of Sony...not sure what you're trying to say. I still feel like the Z1 is one of the best phones out there. Although lacking in some parts, the overall package is hard to beat: Snapdragon 800 processor, great battery life, great camera (Yes the camera is still very very good, just not as good as advertised), and best of all premium feeling. There is really no other phone that has all that together in one package right now. The Note 3 is better in some respects but for me feels cheap, and that is a HUGE con for me that overshadows anything else. The Nexus 5 has meh battery life and camera. The HTC One has a meh camera and lower end specs. The Galaxy S4 is no longer talked about when discussing high-end phones.
The point is there's no 'perfect' phone, and I concede that the Z1 does have weaknesses, but so does every other electronic device out there

Uh huh.
My advice to you, since it appears you wrote this to practice the writing career you're hoping to have, is to consider other career options. You're not good at this.
learn to make the picture and you will find Z1 camera is great. all the comparatives with Note 3 and the other smartphones take Z1 on the top of Android world
display is very good. poor viewing angle are not a gap, but I can assume it is subjective.
when I watch photos and videos on Z1 display they are much nicer than on other displays.

Not so sure about that ...
HTC has the best software updates ATM and fastest after Google.
It has the best low light camera + best smart flash with the 5 modes
Average daylight shots
best front cam with wide angle
The best mics hdr mics
The best speakers
The best headphones sound
It's the most quality phone
It has the best screen in overall
It has unmatched feel in the hand
Ir blaster
Ois
60 fps video + zoe + really working hdr video
BlinkFeed which is still unmatched with copies
Decent battery life
Great xda development
Most of these things aren't yet matched by the competition which is shame imo since htc one is 1 year old and it's still considered the best overall package phone even in 2014 and I doubt anything but HTC one 2 will surpass it which is only a month or two away.
A lot on that list are gimmicks and a few items there are disputable. If HTC were as ahead of everyone as you make them appear to be, then that's extremely incongruent to the terrible shape the company is in.
Another "OMG Sony why did you do this to me" thread.
Sony rules!!

I don't want to get in a fight about whose phone is better, but everyone's got different preferences in a phone. A lot of the points you mentioned are opinions, and really can't be said in a comparison.
The most 'quality' phone and 'ummatched feel' is extremely subjective.
The Z1 is no less in quality than the HTC One and has as premium materials.
The Moto X and Z1 compact both have better feel, just because they're smaller.
Z1's battery life has been much better for me than HTC One in my experience.
Headphone sound is exactly the same for me. Beats is a gimmick and just a equalizer preset which I can also set on my Z1.
I will admit the HTC One's speakers is miles ahead of the Z1's and the display is better.
Camera as well is a lot better in the Z1 in daylight, but I remember you're the guy who wrote that HTC One vs Z1 camera test and I don't want to get in a fight again about that, so I won't go there. HTC One's better in low light, but the Z1 isn't that bad either.
The Z1's camera has a ton more features as well that are pretty cool to play around with. Gimmicks? Sure, but they're still fun. Also the Z1's viewfinder is much smoother.
All front facing cameras suck equally and don't believe there's a 'best' front facing camera.
edit: Oh, also concerning updates: This is the first time HTC have actually done well with updates. We'll see a year from now how they treat HTC One users. One X and One X+ users are stuck with official 4.2 while the Xperia T, which came out around the same time+, just got updated to 4.3. Sony might be slower at giving updates but they support their phones longer.
See, I just refuted half of your points. Of course you will disagree with me, but that's what's great about Android: everyone has different preferences and different opinions on what's the best. The HTC One is a fantastic phone and is my number 2 after the Z1, but it's still not the best for me. Nothing wrong with that.

What exactly is gimmic ?
Ir blaster is very useful
Ois is very helpful in low light / movement or any other type of using the camera / 60 fps video is smooth as camera app on z1 and looks like you're looking thru the glass when watching an video / hdr video is awesome as well at low light , so is the zoe especially if you wanna take out some snaps after which are full sized , I forgot slow motion video as well which is fun tho.
Smart flash is very useful indeed and can take photos from 5cm in pitch black up to 10 meters , with the walls it can go even further
Stereo frontal speakers ...how is this a gimmic lol , anything you do on a phone sounds crazy good + loud + it hits you in the face.
Full metal body is always a good thing , it screams premium ...
Feel in the hand indeed is unmatched due metal + device shape
hdr mics pick up the sound you wouldn't believe that the phone is doing it.
I've forgot also talking via phone is unmatched as well , you get stereo sound + you can talk in super loud environment perfectly fine.
Headphones sound wouldn't be a gimmic as well lol ... Ppl just use that ...on daily bases ..
Software updates is definitely not an gimmic we all want fast and working updates ASAP ,which is not the case with the Sony , it's far from it.
Xda development for me personally is very important since I love to flash + the fact HTC one has about 9/10 times more development it's a must have for me.
The only gimmicky thing would be if you don't like the the BlinkFeed that'd be all which can be turned off.

Ladies and Gentlemen may I present, Shan89 from HTC Section VS kantk20111 from Sony section, Round 2.
FIGHT!
lol
I had Xperia z1 , camera sucked , phone was too hot and screen is utter **** , so I changed to HTC one for the same stuff you wrote here!
Honestly I am huge fan of HTC but actually I do not brought HTC One, which was cheaper, just because there is no micro SD Slot, and when Apps to SD will be available on Z1, or even Apk on internal and Data on SD on Custom Roms, I will not have regrets to have Z1.

Nah mate it ain't fight Lol. I was just pointing that there are devices which are quite more complete. Of course I can't think of anything else besides z1 that comes equal to m7 pretty much all devices lack design and quality which both z1 and htc have.

No more fighting lol, just 2 guys who really love their phones alot . For me the HTC One and Z1 will always be the top of Android, with Samsung, LG and the rest way below. Sony and HTC have style along with awesome hardware.
edit: @Shan89 beat me to it
Came from the GSIII and this phone blows it out of the water, so I'm happy.

I came from htc one to z1 for reasons like low battery camera quality purple tint issue and worst of all its easily breakable body which produced dents on a simple fall

Coming from a T-Mobile HTC One S and being left hangin' with no further updates from 4.1 Jellbean...I jumped off their bandwagon and upgraded to the Sony Xperia Z1S.
I'm glad that HTC is finally wiling to support their top tier products, but a bit too late for me...HTC lost in my book.
The clear winner (for me) is Sony! :good:
