Galaxy Nexus Open Box at NewEgg - Member-Found Deals

Periodically, this will be in stock as they get it. I ordered one two weeks ago for 343.99. I've since returned it, due to it's inability to mount to my computer. It could be due my streak of bad luck. At least the return process went smoothly and credit card has been refunded. Please order at your own risk and read the reviews for the "New" one they have in stock.
You won't find it by browsing because it's not in stock but here's the link:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875176322R
I saw it in stock briefly last night for 300.99, but I've already got a Galaxy Nexus from the Play Store. I guess you have to check it every once in a while and hope to get lucky.

You could have grabbed it at that price and resold it.

[Q] "Certified Pre Owned"???

Hey guys, I bought the DX on the day it was released. about 4 months later I started noticing considerable dust under the screen, so I called it in and Verizon was quick to send me another one. Well the first replacement had a broken radio and wouldn't aquire a 3g signal, Verizon sent me another. That one had a broken shutter, a lot of the pictures taken with it would over expose. I stayed with that one for a couple of monthe til it got so bad that all pictures taken in the daylight would overexpose. so last week i got another sent too me. That replacement phone had a broken gps, it wouldn't aquire a signal strong enough to lock on, so verizon sent me another. This one will not recognize any videos on my sd card, it will not take any videos either, it also will not save any pictures, it will take them, then say that its saving the picture, but somehow it doesnt.
I am on phone number 5 and there is another coming tomorrow (cain't wait to see wht's wrong with this one)... Has onyone else had the same experiences with the certified phones? The company that's tasked to fix these is obviously not doing there job...
You got really unlucky back when I had my droid eris it froze up doing the ota to 2.1 and they gave me a preowned phone that worked just fine
Sent from my DROIDX
My first pre-owned had mad reboot issues and none of the troubleshooting methods worked. Got a replacement pre-owned and all is well. Good luck with your next one!

Verizon is notorious for this - supposedly these certified pre owned phones pass a "100 point inspection", yet somehow most of the phones have obvious problems such as the ones you outlined above. You might have some luck going into the store, explaining your situation, and demanding a brand new one instead of a used one.
a LOT of the "recertified" phones don't actually have anything wrong with them at all. Customers return them before their 30 days is up, or they get sent in for things like a broken battery or broken SD card. So sometimes these "recertified" phones are actually brand new in box, that just never came with an SDcard (or something along those lines).
I think you just got REALLY REALLY unlucky.
Maybe go to a verizon store and give it the "wardo5757 100 point inspection" before you take it home.
What a great thread to read right after I have a replacement shipped (will be here tomorrow). Stupid mini usb port is super loose and won't take a charge.
Who am I kidding though, Verizon replaced 3 of my TP2 device to the point I got a letter saying Assurion would no longer cover me. I have bad luck with phones but have never had a problem with a replacement outside of once or twice. Better luck next time!

New Iconia showing up today

Purchased a refubished A500 from Tigerdirect. UPS man is supposed to have it on my step by days end.
Should I be leery of anything with a refurbished Iconia? I figured at least some "tech" went through the whole device so I should be good to go.
Should arrive with 3.0 on it and what I've read I'll leave it at 3.0 for rooting and flashing. I plan to flash a ROM & Kernel, just not sure which ones yet. Have to read up some more.
Prior experience flashing ROM's is with a DroidX and that is a breeze.
Hope to be able to contribute some in the future. Looking forward to just playing with this thing and I read it will get ICS too!
Other than making sure all the serial numbers match (sticker on SD card cover/flap, on the box, and in the About menu in Settings... there is a big thread on this from someone somewhere...), I'd say you should be fine. Most of the time the refurbs have the same warranties.

This is no longer true. With the exception of a Woot deal weeks back on a Motorola Xoom, reseller are only offering 3 month warranties for Android tablets for refurbs. When you add the cost of extending the warranty to a year, you get the real comparison cost of a refurb.
I really dig my A500. Chances are your refurb was a returned unit working perfectly fine. It may have 3.2. I guess we'll find out soon...
If you want to root do not update when prompted... much much easier if you don't get to 3.2.x
3.0 you can download two .APK and be rooted and clockwork mod.
I just got a refurb from Best Buy and it came with the 3.0.
Now I am running Thor's ROM and overclocked no lag and everything has been perfect so far.
A friend on 3.2 his is really laggy when he unlocks it.

My 2nd A500 was a refurb from JR. I have not noticed any physical markings or anything. It looks like a brand new unit. Refurbs do not carry the same warranty as a brand new unit. My refurb came with 3.1. It took all of 10 minutes to root, install recovery, and flash with a custom ROM.
Welcome aboard.
always buy refurb/ open box tech stuff
my iconia was brand new because i pre ordered it before release in us..
But most all techie stuff i look for this so called refurbished / open box used items. In my experience they are returned products in 99% of cases.. and as good as new.. The key is to get them from a Manufacture Authorized Re seller. this will let you register it online and get the full warranty..
I just two days ago get my new Intuos 4 digital drawing tablet in.. I got the small version(if you know these devices) Got it for 143.00 us from amazon. it sells new for 229.00 and up from reputable re sellers.
Tiger Direct was a nice place to get this type of stuff and new tech.. until they started the crap rebate program.. I hate rebates ...
anyway
good luck with your new tablet...
geeky girls have more fun... xx
I am flashing Thors 14.2 right now.
Came out of the box with 3.1 installed. I even let it do it's first system upgrade and it was still 3.1 after that, system version 4.01 or something, didn't look at the system version prior to that.
Not a scratch on it, looks brand new. However I think it may be a generic charger and USB cable, but whatever they work.
I had been looking at Craigslist for a few months trying to find tablet in the under $350 range. Apparently everyone thinks they hold their value and I guess they apparently do. I didn't want to buy a royal junker tablet and I cannot hold out until the Tegra 3's are released. The wife will break my fingers if I touch her Galaxy Tab 7 which she's had since last Dec!
In scouring XDA the Iconia has quite a few Roms/Kernels available and I bought this thing to tinker so it was on my short list, plus that USB port could prove valuable for said tinkering.
Tigerdirect comes with a 3 month warranty, so that's 3 months more than I would've gotten with a used tablet, so all good. Flash is done, off to play and watch more of this blowout Thursday night game.
Talk to ya'll later.
Glad to see you received it and all was well. Im still waiting on mine. Suppose to be here Tuesday. Got mine for $250 on a 1 day sale on Secondipity.

Your experience with RMA

Apologies if this has been posted somewhere before. But I am little paranoid about my Nexus 4 and wonder if I have done everything I can to ensure I get my deposit back from Google.
Does anyone know what procedure Google goes through to check whether the warranty has voided? I used the Nexus 4 tool kit to root, unlock boot loader etc. I then got a flashable stock 4.2 and unrooted, re-locked bootloader and un busyboxed it through the Nexus 4 tool kit. Is there anything else I should be doing?
When comparing the new phone to my old phone, I have the same build number, base band version, kernel version, android version, etc. I am just wondering if anyone else has not gotten their deposit back after re-locking and unrooting and for what reasons.
Thanks!
Well when I rma'd my Nexus 4, my phone was stock but the reason I'm posting this is because my experience with them was horrible. When I first called to setup the RMA I was told that once the order was placed I would have the phone within 3 business days. Well 3 business days later I called and they said sorry, the first guy was wrong, it takes up to 5 business days for the RMA to process then it will ship. Then I called 6 business days after the RMA was placed, guess what, the phone had not shipped yet. I kept getting the excuse that the phone probably shipped but the tracking number didn't show up. Well BS like this went on for about 24 days (Yes I counted) and I kept getting DIFFERENT excuses everytime I called. They said that they had a ticket in with a specialist and that they would get back to me within 2 business days but that never happened. Well 3 days after christmas (28th) my phone arrived when I originally placed the order for the replacement on the 4th. I don't know if this is an isolated case but all I can say is good luck.
EDIT: And I almost forgot, this replacement phone I received might be defective to because every now and then I get a picture with artifacts all over it, this happened with barebone stock and different roms and kernels. I would get random pictures with artifacts, so now I don't know whether its worth it or not to get another RMA....

That really sucks... I got my new N4 within a week! I did find however that the new one has some problems, like a rattling camera, and sometimes when using flipboard the tiles decide to change colors for a quick second.

Asus Nexus 7 RMA - positive experience

I've been fairly hesitant to send in my Nexus 7 in for an RMA die to the abundance of negative reviews, but i decided to give it a shot.
I had some phantom touch issues, sticky home button, as well as some issues while transferring data from tablet to PC.
I sent the tablet to Asus on September 6th via Canada Post express and aids received it on the 10th. The status appeared as "product repair is in progress", however it stayed that way till the 16th. On the 16th I woke up to an email saying that the tablet had been repaired and is on the way via Purolator Express.
Upon further trading into the email I realized they messed up the address and forgot to mention the apartment number and buzzer code, hence I'd have to pick it up.
Having spent 1.5 hours waiting for the Purolator driver to come in, I finally received package. Inside I found a new replacement for my N7.
TL DR: RMA sent on evening of 6th September, replacement N7 picked up on 17th September. Other than minor shipping issues (ASUS provided my incomplete address) I'm satisfied with the experience. So far so good.

My turn around time was good as well (about 10 days) ,however ,having to pay to have it shipped is lame (that and the new warranty/serial number sticker with wet ink!). That said, they didn't resolve the ghost screen issue at all. Mine worked ok for a few weeks then started up again (my guess is they installed some patch or different drivers). Works fine now though, thanks to SyphOnX's fix posted in the "Nexus 7 Screen not responding to touch sometimes?" thread in the N7 Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting forum. I guess sometimes if you want it done right, you have to do it yourself.
How are Asus with unlocked bootloader devices? My N7 has completely died but it had PA installed on it when it died I have a feeling they won't want to repair it.
Sent from my LG-P768 using xda app-developers app
I'm newish to all this but I'm sure with PA on it the warranty will be null and void. See if you can revive it and revert it back to stock before rmaing it (although you may not need to at that point).
Opening the case is a cinch, I used regular tweezers, lol, and everything under the hood is very well laid out. If it's a replacing something issue you shouldn't have a problem.

Recieved new Nexus 7 after RMA
I'd just like to give my experience with Asus RMA. I've had an unlocked bootloader and been rooted since day 1 back in January, but I've also had screen phantom touch issues and unresponsiveness. I delayed sending it back as it was not too bad but last month it got really bad, so I went for it. After I requested the RMA I used Nexus Root Toolkit to unroot and re-lock my device, then set it back to completely stock. (Look up Nexus Root Toolkit and get it its some great software). I wrote up a very thorough description of the issue as I was instructed and sent it off from Nebraska to Texas. 10 days or so later a new Nexus 7 showed up at my door, with no touchscreen issues or anything. I recommend anyone who has issues with their nexus 7 to send them in, especially if you're nearing that end of warranty period. It's awesome top have an unscratched and perfect Nexus 7 just a few months before my warranty ends, do lock up that bootloader and send 'em in!
And to avoid confusion, I received a new Nexus 7 (2012), NOT "The New" Nexus 7 (2013) haha but that would have been awesome!
I'm currently waiting on my n7 to come back from its 3rd repair for failing to boot. I've never rooted or unlocked my tablet. I bought it march of 2013. 3 repairs for essentially the same problem. I honestly feel that my wifes samsung galaxy tab 2 is a better built device. Im posting this with her tablet. She treats her tablet like crap whereas I've treated my n7 with the utmost care. I paid for the shipping the first time but was given prepaid fedex shipping these last 2 times. This could well be my last nexus tablet.

Yeah I've had good experiences too. I have always done an advance swap - receive the new tablet first, transfer all my files and a nandroid backup, restore to new device, wipe the old one, reinstall stock ROM and relock bootloader, send it in.
I have never had to pay for shipping. The same day they order the advance swap, I get a prepaid shipping label by e-mail. This is in Vancouver BC.
I've done two swaps, both because the speaker was blowing out.
My order for the original tab was right on launch day which means my original warranty expires in three weeks. My credit card entitles me to a second year but I probably won't be able to do an advance swap anymore.

New Nexus

So heres the scoop a few weeks ago, I dropped my N7 and broke the screen, touch still worked but would not rotate and really couldnt see anything. So I take it to a local authorized repair shop, since it was out of warranty he said he could replace the screen but it would cost me $75, no problem with that since it is still cheaper than buying a new tablet, and said it would take a couple days to order it and then do the repair. he ended up havong it 2 weeks and could not get the touch screen working properly, so today he called me and said to come pick it up, I get there and he handed me a brand new Tablet in the box, turns out his supplier sent him a bad screen and then couldnt get another one for him so he went on Amazon and got me a brand new tablet, ended up only cost me the initial $35 deposit. now sitting here installing all the updates as it came with 4.3 loaded on it
Congratulations! So it's simply another Nexus 7 2013? What Rom are you planning to go with?

Right now Im just keeping it stock until im sure it is working properly, after that I am not sure. so far all i did is unlock the boot loader, not sure if I am going to root it and put something custom on it or not as my primary use for it is for reading my e-text books for school.
