i bought a new router but i am not able to connect through it
i have a PPPoE connection ISP has provided me with the user name & password i have entered the same in the router settings page but cant connect, get the same error on the mobile as well.
i have attached images of the error as well as how i connect to my internet incase u need to see.
i can connect without the router to internet with the same username and password but when i connect through router i get error Your PPPoE or PPTP authentification failed
Anyone know whats wrong ?

come on no one ??

ignore the top posts
i get my isp provides me with connection from a router which connects through a switch and the to me now i have bought router so that i can access internet on my mobile through wifi how do i configure my router to do that ?

basically you dont know how to setup a home network,
did the router came with the provider or did u use a third-party router?
if so you need to setup your 3rd party router,
call the provider so they can provide the protocol encapsulation in which you will need to setup your router

wifi problem

ok heres the deal... i have a MDA flashed with the software from att for the 8125 everything works great except when i turn wifi on, i can connect to the network but cant ever get a page to work. does anyone have any suggestions????? please help
Is this happening on any network or your home network?
Check this... go to Settings - Connections - Network Cards. Make sure the WLAN Adapter is set to connect to the internet. Then tap the WLAN Adapter and make sure IP Address is set to Server Assigned then in Name Servers you don't have anything. If any of these is different, change it to the above.
Yeah. I have the same problem. I have wifi pci asus, the signal is good. I have Lan tru router and now bridged connection. I set the ip, mask and gateway which are in the status of the brudge. And the internet explorer and opera wont load pages.?!??! dns isnt set.
The network adapter is sdio wlan.., and the connection is my work network in connection > connections > advanced >select networks.
i use wm6, nbd 8.0
What could be the problem???
it is home network and all other wifi locations
i know there is a problem with secured networks, especially with wpa encryption. try to remove the encryption and see how it goes....
I have removed all encription. I tried preety much everithing and it doesnt work. All other free wifi networks work just fine, i can surf on internet.
what router do you have? i know that i could not connect to a 3com router with the wizard with any rom i tried.
try using a defined ip address and dns, meaning no dhcp. use a real dns addresses and not the default gateway...

PPPoE impossibile!?!?!!!

Hi guys!
I've seen that there is no way to have PPPoE connection on windows mobile! It is absurd: there are tons of software and nobody wrote a program for PPPoE connection...
I have to use PPPoE with my wifi connection and the only one solution seems to change my wifi modem/router!
Any suggestion?
eh! Why do you need PPPoE on your phone? PPPoE (and A) is used by your router to ISP not you phone.
I'm not sure what you need so can you clarify this for me
Thanks Dave
Hi Dave!
My ISP gave me a wifi/ethernet modem without the possibility to set inside the PPPoE parameters needed for the internet connection. For this reason I have to create a PPPoE connection under windows.
I have an ethernet connection between my PC and the adsl modem: if I don't make PPPoE on my PC I can just access to the configuration panel of the modem with my browser... It's the same via wifi.
Without PPPoE on windows mobile I can't access to internet via wifi, but just via activesync (USB/Bluetooth).
Like Telecom Italia Alice service... simple solution (but not so elegant) is buy a router with WiFi and connect it to WiFi Modem then you can connect every device you want.
D'rath
I still don't get it. you ISP gave you the router. When you plug this in can you not access the internet then?
I think you need to be talking to your ISP about issues with the router. You dont need to setup a PPPoE connection on your PC either this is still set on the router. The network card should pick a IP address from the router via DHCP and this is how they talk to each other. Same goes for your phone.
Who is your ISP and what router did they send you and we may be able to point you in the right direction
what you people dont realize that the dude needs to use ppoe dialer from his windows to establish the internet connection itsself...n while he has a wifi router he cant connect to the internet becuase of this crap old service type
Yea I'm with Telecom Italia Alice but my provider doesn't give me a modem/router with the possibility to set inside the PPPoE parameters! It is impossible to have dhcp with it too, but it is not a problem.
The PPPoE connection is not set inside the modem/router (Alice W-Gate)!
This situation is common for millions of user here in Italy, for all who use the modem/router provided by our ISP. I don't think that Telecom has anything fully customizable for my case...

PPPoE or gateway or anything that would get me to internet

Hi ppl!
I have problem with connecting to the internet with my i900. I'm pretty new to WM so I'm pretty confused about lacking of standard options that I'm used on XP...
But let me explain whats the problem:
I have adsl router and need to dial pppoe connection to get out to the net. My ISP has locked routers default capabilities, which had setting up pppoe connection in the router so every thing that connets to the router could have easy exit to the internet (yeah, stupid ISP...).
So I've searched for the pppoe on the WM and found on this forum (i cant post the link?) app that can make pppoe connection on wm. Problem is that it doesn't work on my phone and feedback on it is pretty low.
So I've came up with another solution which needs a gateway function on my WM: I can dial a pppoe connection on my PC, share it, and then use my PC as a gateway to the internet by setting my PC's IP as a gateway on my WM phone. My PC is connected to the router by wire and hasn't got wireless adapter on it. Only thing wireless is a router... and a phone
I have found gateway option: (settings->wifi->network adapters->SyChip Jaguar->Use specific IP adress
BUT it doesn't work. I cant connect to the internet!
because I'm new to all this, is there something I'm missing?
I can ping my phones IP from my PC and my PC's IP with vxUtil and I've disabled firewall on my PC. In opera I've tryed all of connection tipes but I get "network problem". Also, I've configured my wireless conenctios as "my work network" and checked box under "This network connects to the internet"
Help?
PS
cracking a IPS's router isn't the option

how to use internet with login/pw?

So long story short I am using an extremely annoying ISP in China where I need to have a username and password to login.
I set it up on my 2 laptops, they both connect to the router but also have a "broadband connection" I created in "windows 7 network and sharing" before it can connect to the internet.
but my gtab I can only connect it to the router but there is no internet access because I need to be able to plug in the username/pw?
You configured your router wrong. What you have is called PPPoE over ADSL. Most routers have the direct support to such protocol where you can put your login username and password in router's configuration and all the devices behind the router no longer need to do so, nor do they need to configure a special 'Broad Band' connection on the PC.
There are a few exceptions, some ISPs in China require you to use their special dialer software in order for the PC to connect, instead of using the standard 'Broadband Connection' supported by OS. The purpose of this is to force you use one PC at a time and there is no way to use a hardware router to share your single connection. If your connection falls into this category, there is nothing you can do to connect your tab without major network hack.

[Q] VPN over wifi Internet doesn't work for some reason

I am able to connect to my home router's PPTP VPN server from my Android phone's PPTP client. I can even see my remote LAN devices; and, my remote LAN devices can see my mobile phone on the LAN.
The problem is when I connect my phone to wifi Internet.... BEFORE connecting to my PPTP VPN server... I can't see the remote LAN; and, the remote LAN can't see my phone. The only thing I can do successfully is get a new public IP (my home Internet public IP).
What can I do so that I am able to use my local wifi Internet connection to connect to my VPN at home?
It might be a route problem.
When you connect to WiFi, some static routes are pushed to your phone.
Those routes might not be refreshed or conserved after a VPN connection.
If it is not a route problem it's a default gateway problem.
Yes, that's what I suspected. I already tried adding routes; specifying the gateway via command-line; however, I didn't have any luck; probably because I didn't know exactly what I was doing.
One thing I noticed; when I use my wifi internet hotspot, I noticed that it gets a private WAN IP.. 10.x.x.x; which then NATs to a temporary real public IP; which no connections instigated from the outside world can make it So, even if I do port-fowarding on my wifi hotspot router, it doesnt help any since the incoming connections are stopped dead in their tracks.
I'm using PPTP VPN; which depends on a TCP port 1723. If that TCP connection is instigated from my remote VPN server into my mobile Internet wifi hotspot based LAN devices, it wouldn't work for the same reason explained above. I didn't see a PPTP VPN passthrough option for my wifi hotspot; only for IPSEC; which I dont have a server for. I'm guessing that if I had a real-world public WAN IP for my mobile Internet hotspot, maybe I wouldn't have this problem for PPTP.??

First, are you talking about a free internet hotspot or from private internet hotspot (@work for example) ?
you'll never gonna get a public IP from your internet hotspot. 1-public-IP-for-1-client on a hotspot is just inconceivable, due to IPv4 exhaustion.
I think you only have to try to do port forwarding on your hotspot.
Your assumption "it doesnt help any since the incoming connections are stopped dead in their tracks" is wrong I guess. If your hotspot has a built-in firewall, it might be stateful. As you are initiating a connection to your server, the returned traffic flow shall be allowed.
If it doesn't work after port forwarding, try to look at firewall rules on your hotspot router.
Problem resolved.
My Verizon wireless hotspot (890L) doesn't support PPTP passthough. More specifically, PPTP's routing protocol: GRE (value 47). Verizon does offer another wireless hotspot that does offer support for PPTP; at least via a firmware update.
This issue actually pushed me to install and configure OpenVPN server on my router; instead of using the existing PPTP server which I already had. OpenVPN is fantastic is working through firewalls.
Great !
Yes, OpenVPN is a delight.
me too
I have the same problem,
but I usually change another ROM until there's no bugs

have you tried to configure the wi-fi gateway to match your vpn router?
settings / wireless & networks / wi-fi / long press your vpn connection / modify network / scroll to show advanced options / select static ip /scroll down to gateway and put the gate address in / save
I run a vpn through a 2 router setup, and even though my phone connects to the vpn router, its gateway by default is always the non-vpn router. changing the gateway to the vpn router allows the vpn to connect to the phone. you can verify the vpn connection by going to ip-score.
That why i can't see my phone using wifi in VPN network..
cant connect if theres no mobile data or load
Hi please help ..when i have load i see its connected..but if i have no load its not connecting please ..anyone can explain this?
