Hi;
I got my Motorola Bravo and liked very much.
I flash it with CM9, under volt it and overclock it; the ROM runs as fast as ICS runs in my Kindle Fire. BUT I haven't been able to enable the WiFi tethering mode (nor native or with apps) in any version of CM9 so I as force to use CM7.2 (witch runs kite nice but is not the latest).
does any one have been able to use WiFi tethering in their bravos using CM9???
How did you accomplish that.
Thank you

I want to use Android Wired Tether on my Droid X with the recent Verizon OTA stock Froyo 2.2 update. I want to USB tether to many different Windows PCs.
I loaded the 2.2 Update over the Verizon network yesterday as usual.
I downloaded Android Wired Tether from the google code depot (wired_tether_1_4.apk) and installed the application.
I rooted the Droid X OS.
Running "Wired Tether" on the Droid X results in the the error message "Unsupported Kernel!"
The error is what I expected ( but not what I had hoped for ). From what I can gather, some of the networking software was removed from the stock Froyo ROM, contrary to other devices like the HTC incredible.
So my question; is there a ROM which includes the missing software? The "FlyX - birdman" ROM available on the Wiki page looks promising. I'm hoping the experts here can confirm my suspicions before I begin experimenting.
Thanks!

I am looking for this also. There are a few good reasons to use wired tether. No speed loss, your phone is charging, and no problems with rogue intrusion/detection.
I have tried wired_tether_1.4.apk on the first leaked 2.2 with no luck.
There may be a need to edit your tethered NAI before using Wired_Tether_1.4.apk also. Any insights on this?

Im not sure, but wireless tether works fine, im sure the speed isnt that much of a difference, and plug it into ur comp still if ur battery is low

Is this on 2.2 OTA or Leak, etc?
Your sig still says 2.1 rooted.
I'm not able to get my WiFi tethering working with 2.2 Leak.
Looks like we need a custom kernel to use wired_tether(the stock kernel has the necessary files removed). BUT, as far as I know there is nothing but the stock kernel for Droid X, atm. Correct me if Im wrong please.
The AOSP project for the DroidX does look interesting though.
There are lots of other options for tether but if you want to use USB, Wired_tether is preferred over PDAnet and easytether since there is no need for a client install. ANY Windows 7 machine (has RNDIS natively) and most Linux boxes with a USB port can instantly tether to the wired_tether program with zero modification.
I'd love to see wired_tether working on the Droid X.

I don't know about "wired-tether", but "Easy Tether" uses USB. It works on 2.2. I am using it now. The connection is very reliable but not very fast. It does NOT require root. There is a free and a paid version.
It is a bummer that wifi tether does not stay connected. But I can recommend Easy Tether.
I used to use the wifi tether app flawlessly. If I update to 2.0.6 it no longer works and needs a netfilter enabled kernel. I really need 2.0.6 since it supports infrastructure so I can tether to my nook color. I am pretty handy using adb if I have to. I have rom manager as well.
I'm just confused a bit. Right now I am stuck to 2.0.5 because I use it so much for work, my pc will support ad-hoc at least.
Well I think you sol right now. We can change kernels because of the locked bootloader (thanks motorola) and until we can crack it we can't do much with the kernel.
You only need to change kernel for extra security features. If it doesnt work then there is something you are doing wrong. It should work fine.
I use it to play DCUO, it works suprisingly well. With the data uncap its flawless lol!

Hey!
I Recently got my hands on a hero, after my Optimus GT540 broke.
With my GT540 I ran swiftdroid 1.8 (a cyanogenmod 7 port) and i was a regular user of Barnacle wifi tether from the marketplace.
First thing I did with the hero was to install salsasense, I didn't want a rom below 2.3 and i wanted to play with sense as I have never had it before!
Today I noticed the Advent Vega can now run honeycomb (unofficially) and I am very interested in purchasing one, I would like to know if there is a way I could somehow tether my Hero to this tablet.
I am currently running salsasense 4, with the LV kernal, will tethering be eventually patched on salsasense? Or is it possible with any other rom?
I would be happy with tethering via Bluetooth WiFi or USB.
Can anyone suggest any kind of solution?
Thankyou.
I used Wireless Tether from Market with SalsaSense 4.0 before and it worked (Don't think it worked with the previous release). I only tried to turn the tether on though without acually connecting anything.
I'm currently using Tegro 2.6 and Wireless Tether is working perfectly.
Wireless Tether works perfectly! It seems barnacle wifi tether was problematic!
Interestingly enough, upon launching the app my hero restarted immediately, then my memory card mounted successfully via usb! This hasnt worked for a long time!
Thanks a lot!

Try Barnacle Wifi from the google market. Works on almost every ROM where native tethering doesn't.

+1 for robb4u's link. That is my current rom and wifi hotspot works perfectly. I used it this evening.
I have MIUI and wifi hotspot works just fine
hyperdroid 5.3.0 CM7, works natively both WIFI hotspot and USB tethering
Barnacle is the best way to go (only way right now) if you want a Sense 3.0 or higher rom... the rom i use most of the time as my daily user is the MyTouch 4G rom by Motoman.. its an older rom only running 2.2 Froyo but hey it has been the smoothest one i have used and the WiFi Hotspot works great..if ya want to try it here is the link...

its been a while since i have been here. i dont even know if i still have root. i know this thing updates itself. and i know the gps still sux big time.
anyway, i use to br able to use wireless tether and tether to my laptop. it would work ok. sometimes it would disconnect though. now it wont connect at all.
what are my options?
google wifi tether....oh and i recomend flashing a ICS rom such as aokp and enjoy rock solid gps. if you need instructions and files look up section 4 of my guide here in the gen section.
code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list[/url]
The native tether works in AOKP and Gummy haven't checked cm9. Setting/more. Just set it to open security.
