Samsung just announced that the galaxy note has now sold 7 million and counting.......
I think note 2 is destiny - the only question now is where.

Wow, with the note being such a success I wonder if in the further all phones will be 5.3 inches and future 'tablet/phone' hybrid devices will be 7 inches?
Even now some people say I'm ridiculous carrying such a big phone but I see this 'big' phone being looked at as 'too small' in a few years??? Though I don't think they will make phones with screens bigger than 7 inches considering 7 inches is already a 'mini' tablet's size.
Either ways I also hope they don't release a Note 2 so soon, just bought my note in February, would hate for it to be 'old' or 'outdated' in less than a year, I feel like past mid 2013 would be the perfect time or maybe end of 2013 in December.

That's actually very interesting because they pumped a lot od money to manufacture and promote Galaxy Note which was - let's be honest - an experimental device. With 7 millions sold - and people getting excited about it everyday and buying more and more - i guess Note 2 is a matter of time.
But i have to agree - not yet. It's still too early to release Note 2.
The note is an amazing device, everyone that sees mine loves it even if it is a bit big for some. I normally get itchy feet around the six month mark of having a phone, thinking I want a new one, but haven't thought about getting a new phone at all. Its amazing how badly the dell streak did compared to the note. Probably because of dells lack of advertising, but also I guess all the right things just came together with the note and has captured peoples imagination, the hd amoled screen, the s-pen the dual core great camera, great gps it just does everything well. Never had a phone I enjoy using so much!!

I'm sort of doubting that 7" will become a phone standard. The Note is already approaching the upper limit of what many people can reasonably hold and fit in normal pockets. I wouldn't be surprised to see some tablets come with a mic and speaker to be used as a phone though.

I tried to carry Galaxy Tab 7.7 (it support normal phone, I can call and sms), it was too big for me. Ideal is 5.0 - 6.3.
6 inches would be an ideal replacement for a tablet and phone to me. Galaxy Note 5.3 sometimes feels small for internet or drawing.
Yeah I hope note 2 has a bigger screen. 6 would be good

Yea now thinking about it again I doubt 7 inch phones but 6.5 inch is still possible. Only one thing that gets in the way, when we use the note to talk...... now with the note even though some people are like its so wired, I think its just fine as its just right from my ears down to my mouth, the length of the phone is exactly right and its not too wide that to covers the entire of my face on the side, so bigger screen mean its going to be longer/wider, I can't say it will look wierd until I see it being used but this is definetly a concern.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda priemium
No matter what, the Note 2 has to be pocketable.
That totally rules out 7".
I could maybe see 5.8, if they somehow find a way to make bezelless phones. Which completely hasn't happened yet. I already can't really tie my shoes when it's in the front pocket of a couple of my pants. It's pretty close to borderline for me.

I think we should be reasonable here.
I think if anyone who wants Note 2 to be bigger than 5.8" should really consider getting a tablet and phone separately.
I wouldnt mind a 5.8" personally but anything bigger will be really hard to use as a phone.
Also I really want a 16:10 ratio screen res like the current Note.
Perhaps 1920x1200
Im all about bigger screens but anything bigger than the Note would be simply too big for me. Still im pretty sure they could manage to give us 5,5" screen without increasing the device's dimensions. That would be nice.

5.3 isn't small, but when you use a tablet like the iPad to browse than switch to the Note it does seem small, same thing with browsing on a note than switching to other phones, it does seem small but over all 5.3 isn't small.

OK maybe if the cut off the buttons and just have one small (but big enough for the average thumb size) home button and removed the Samsung logo ontop of the phone and made the screen wider removing the little space on the sides, it could happen, also hope that in future Notes, speakers are on the bottom or sides of the phone and not the back rely dumb to have it there

If the screen size of the G3 is around 4.7 inch or larger I will seriously consider it the purchase/upgrade. Anything below this size is to small for me.
I agree its a problem. any normal size screen is titchy! it wouls however be a real silema if apple released a 4.7" iphone 5!
Good thing hoqwver the note still has decent resale values. . The htc one x looks nice but note with ics will be better!

I don't see Apple in the picture for me at all. LOL...Too much Cuperton control. I would miss a lot more than the screen would make up for.
Smaller screen, no improvment in resolution/qualityt, no S-pen, a useless quadcore that only 1% of the games (gameloft ones) will use. 12Mpx camera that i dont need cause i already have a real camera (and a phone camera will never match a real one), nothing here can use NFC (in france).
Conclusion, i'm fine with my note.
It's not going to cast a shadow on the pure functionality of the g note.
Won't even be considering trading

Thats exactly the point! I noticed it as i went to a mobile store and played a bit with the nexus. For me, the working screen space on 4.7 " was significant smaller than on my Note. Before the SGN, i had an Dell Streak. Due to Dell used Monkeys to write the touchscreen driver and no devs wanted to hassle with the driver, the development stoped at Gingerbread at Beta. Streak has an 5 " Screen. I cant go on smaller size.
Actually my Note is running on 1,2 Ghz (ICS). My Device is speedy and functional. i cant imagine, that Quadcore would boost the daily phone or text experience that much. Games woud run quick as hell, hands down. but for my purposes, Note ist the best Device i ever owned and won´t get back on smaller screen.
No...
No I won't. I need to spend my money on other things and I love my Note too much already. :3

Nice! Wish I had that kind of money. I've owned almost every flag ship android device the past two years, but I always traded an had one at the time. Wish I could have them all still but the note is the best one so far. And I doubt that I am going to trade it for the GSIII. I love the screen size. We'll see when the SIII comes out. The One X also kinda turn me on.
I am not a frequent phone changer, had a n73 before note and won't be changing phone a couple of years. Hopefully there'll be more devices in the 5-6 inc range by then.
I'm not getting anymore Samsung devices after this because of one reason.

I also disliked the software buttons on my galaxy nexus. I am a big fan of the home button on the note though. Very nice.
I am not considering the Galaxy S III at all and the reason for that is the Note's abilities. The screen is perfectly sized and it supports the S-Pen, something that enhances the usability.
On the other hand, the S III is interesting since it will be an "early preview" of what Note II will offer since it is highly probable that the next Note will be based heavily on it.
Therefore, it will be possible to get an early impression of what the next Note will be.
Now with the 5.3" screen - going smaller is extremely hard. My old HD2 feels tiny in comparison.
I personally will stay with my current, because i still feel its quite fast and good enough for a year of its lifespan
for all the presumed specs till now, i don't see any reason to change either
I will invest my money on Note 10.1 instead of upgrading to Note 2.
if the note does not get full jellybean project butter by the end of the year, I will unfortunately part with it.
I'm thinking of a galaxy nexus for now but I'm reluctant because of the lack of SD support. We shall see. But I need project butter. Badly...lol.
Once I have it I be happy to keep my note. I wish I had never seen or heard of project butter sometimes.

Well since the news started about the note 2 amazon warehouse uk has had them second hand for £265! So i picked up my first!
If I can get the Note 2 at a relatively good price / Monthly premium I will consider it, I can then pass my Note 1 on to my misses (its less than 6 months old)
Either way Im not fussed, Im perfectly happy with my Note 1 - I must admit its the best phone ive ever had, Maybe not as powerful, but ive never loved a phone as much as i do with my Note
I will buy Note 2 only if the camera is 12mpx.My Note speed now is great, wont be any difference between 2 or 4 core. The screen will be almost the same imo, so if the camera is still 8mpx its not worth it to buy Note 2
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
If I wanted to get the Note 2, that means I would have to sell my Note for around £400 or even less, I paid over £600 for my Note. Now, the Note 2 will likely cost around £650 when it is first introduced, if I wait for the price to drop then the Note price will drop too unless I sell it earlier.
Personally, I don't wish to pay for something with a slightly bigger screen size and a very slightly better specification that the Galaxy S3. I never use my Note at full processor capacity, so I don't see the point. Unless the Note 2 has soemthing revolutionary then I might give it thought.
Probably will.
Bigger screen, smaller body. Why not.
I will get it if the screen is bit bigger and also with more added features like the s3

I'm even considering buying a tab 7.0 plus for screen size.. Only thing that stops me it's it has no phone calls speaker so everyone will ear my conversations but yeah I'd get anything with a bigger screen.. No such problem anymore! I don't remember if it is the Galaxy Tab 2 7" or the Galaxy Tab 7.7 or even both but they have both a loudspeaker and a regular speaker with the latter and the microphone placed where they normally are in a phone! :victory:
P.S. the G.Tab 7.7 is so gorgeous that from time to time I am tempted to get a bigger bumpack and to give up on carrying my smartphone in my jeans back pocket and jacket pocket like I do sometimes...
Will certainly go for Note 2 if:
1. 2G RAM
2. NFC
3. Better build which can differentiate itself from Note 1
4. LED backlit (preferred but not mandatory)
i dont have a thing for Project Butter because my current GL NoteCore + Kingdroid > whatever butter out there
I do have a biased opinion about having a nice large screen. I guess I prefer (Phablets but still undecided on how I feel about the Galaxy Note 2 and the DNA as the size is a little bit large. That doesn't mean it is a NO from me just yet)
So if you are like me. You have had your SGS2 since launch. Soon after this, they released the Galaxy Note 1 and then SGS 3. Both have advantages over the S2 for different reasons but still not *UNIQUELY DIFFERENT* enough from the SGS2 to make the change for myself. I am still keeping in mind that both of these said phones "might be better" especially the SGS 3, however just not quite enough to push me over the edge. In fact it somewhat stalled and got me thinking if Samsung were pushing these phones out fast then it is only going to be a matter of a couple of months before we see something that does *WOW* me.
Well I was right, as you will see below is a list of the new upcoming phones that are all awesome and worthy of a genuine upgrade over the SGS2, Don't get me wrong I was very tempted to upgrade earlier but managed to hold back because of the awesome and continued community support for our phone.
Below is the list of phones I have my eye on, just in case anybody out there wasn't aware of these options. I am here today to show you (After googling and reading forums which could have been done by you, but let's face it some people are just lazy + I want to hear what you guys think!)
HTC Droid DNA(Butterfly)
Samsung Galaxy Note 2
LG Nexus 4
Sony Xperia Odin / Yuga(Dogo) Some more info about the rumoured Sony devices
Here is a rough comparison chart of the Nexus 4 / Note 2/ HTC DNA. Unfortunately the Sony devices are still up in the air so it is not covered. Here is another comparison but this time only between the Note 2 and the DNA

I just wish the Nexus 4 had a 32GB option, 4G and a larger battery, if it was removable then you could at least slap a bigger one in there!

Oh god, please tell me why? I don't see any reasons now: my note is still snappy (thanks to jb leaks), there are no games, that aren't playable (my main concern for every phone is shadowgun dead zone and it runs smoothly).
BUT with note I still have a monster battery, monster display and monster storage.
Really, nexus 4 is a nice phone. But I can't find any reasons to change galaxy note, HTC one x, s3 or even galaxy nexus to nexus 4. I mean, if you are looking for a new phone, go and grab it, if you already have one, just pass it

Ok here are my reasons:
1) nexus 4 uses gorilla glass 2. Search a bit about it. It is actually thinner and when you swipe your finger on screen, because of the elimination of the extra layer, you feel so nice and it is like touching the icon by your finger. You should try to find out what I mean.
2) 2 GB ram and quad core cpu is great. You think your note is monster now but after working with nexus 4 you will change your opinion. Just i.e. I feel flying when I use chrome compared to note.
3) battery is great here. Near 6 hr screen on time under super heavy use. Wifi on all the time, music, surfing, game etc.
4) Most recent upgrades of android. This one worth much more than anything. Imagine that in May we are gonna get key lime pie 5.0 and you are still on 4.1
How much more do you need?
By the way ips is much better than amoled. With amoled and the over saturation your eyes get tired after a while but with ips no !

Can you tell us the reason why you're coming in the Galaxy Note section to tell to Note users (ie peoples who choosed to buy a Note) to buy another mobile ?
Seriously, go touch yourself in the N4 section, if Note users want to trade their mobile for a N4 or anything elses, i guess they'll be smart enough to go in the right section.
And my 2 cents, N4 sucks for me, no need of the hardware and i prefer a bigger screen + Spen.

Nexus 4 is a great phone. No one will deny that, but there is something many of the users here would agree with me on. And to let you see why, then i'm gonna answer all of your points here.
1. Samsung Galaxy Note II also use Gorilla Glass 2.
2. Samsung Galaxy Note II also have 2 GB RAM and a good Quad-core CPU.
3. The battery is much better on the Galaxy Note II.
4. Samsung Galaxy Note II also gets the latest releases thanks to XDA-Developers.
So, my question is then, why should anyone go from a Galaxy Note to a Nexus 4 instead of a Galaxy Note II?
And don't get me started on the multiview windows functionality that is actually a reason alone on why we Note users choose a phone like a Note over anything else.
Because if you sell your note and add 30 $ or euro more you can get a perfect phone but for note 2 you should pay around 150 euro more.
Besides, lets face it, google support is better or xda? Xda without source code can not do anything ! And samsung sucks at releasing source codes !

I am not forcing here I had note 3 days ago. I simply express some facts !

i'm playing a lot ingress lately and i tell you my note performance way better then nexus 4 .
but the nexus 4 is a beautiful device - but i would not trade
Something all these Galaxy Note wanabe's seem blind to is the s-pen ; it's not just about a larger than usual phone screen, but you can write on it...properly..with a pen...detailed stuff, useful stuff. If all you want is bigger Angry Birds then I'm sure one of the other 5" + screens are great but the Note is successful because it serves all the creatives out here who are not happy drawing with a fat finger. Maybe it's just me :cyclops:

He is sharing his experience and views. He may be right or wrong. I like my note. But I am not loyal to note. I will buy a better one as per requirements and budget. Views help as hints.

Non removable battery is a deal breaker. Can you replace the battery without breaking something ?

Guys I had note for one year and liked it a lot but I just got my nexus 4 and sold my note. They have somehow almost the same price but guys I gotta tell you nexus 4 is a wonderful device and I just love it.
I really advice you to sell your note and buy this thing.
By the way smaller screen is even better and surprisingly somehow a relief, seriously !
Battery life is great great great ! I just felt to share my experience with you
Kudos

I had my Note for 15 months and LOVED it, best smartphone in the world BY FAR. Actually, I would say the ONLY REAL smartphone in the world as it was the only one actually USABLE.
I just upgraded to a Note II which is improved in literally *everything* but in the most important spec (display dimensions) and the least important one (looks. I liked much better the Note I).
The Note II has a smaller display in its shorter side and that's my ONLY gripe with it, I hate the fact that they went with the 16:9 aspect ratio and the fact that 5.5" 16:9 means a NARROWER display and that's why I initially hold off upgrading but after seeing IRL what 2GB of RAM really mean I instantly bought the Note II and sold the Note. BEST UPGRADE EVER (save for the stupid display aspect ratio...).
The Nexus 4? It's an Apple-like P.O.S. which with its MORONIC non-removable battery, ridicolously insufficient non-expandable internal memory and small display is totally *useless* and *worthless* to me.
a device with at least large screen (>5inch), s-pen, tablet rom (with all features Notes is offering), nice design (quare, not s3-like) would get my consideration, a bit, otherwise none will be comparable with the incredble Note
the sucking hardware does not matter, at least IMO, even a Nexus 40 will be said like this OP when the Nexus 41 comes, you should know how to use your device, or you will sell your Nexus 40 soon for a Nexus 41
it is crazily rediculous for these words in Note area
there is no way on this earth you could convince me to buy LG hardware.
Also No micro SD = deal breaker.
Thanks for your expression but No thanks.
Nexus 4 is not 5.3 inch. It does not have SPen. No multi-windows. The display does not show true black. Blurry scroll--Amoled screen refreshes so much faster than lcd. Those are the reasons I stick to my beloved Note until Note 3.

Not a big deal at all, 5 minutes.
As a current Note I owner I've tested N4 for 2 full days. I can only say 2 good things about it: the uber sexy body and smoothness. Apart from it - no SD card and a worse camera are a no-go. Before testing it, I used CM10.1 on my Note but after a month or so I decided I was missing Samsung's touch too much (I like the additions and a bit nicer GUI). So I installed RR ICS V12 and completely happy now.
I also realized that Note is too big for me - the one-handed operations feel like on the edge of dropping it all the time! So I skipped Note2 and waiting for S4 now.
I totally get what you all are saying. I was very doubtful too, especially about screen size but now I am sure that for a phone it should definitely be below 5 inch. Now I am sure that the concept of phablet is crazy.
I will get a tablet soon and I think this is right. Big size of note 1 was really annoying for me.
About note 2, I agree that it is way better than note 1 and the reduce in its width was a clever action. But guys! Direct update from google is something that no one can overlook it.
S pen had no use for me at all and I am sure if someone really use s pen he or she should get note 10.1 or note 8 not this because it is way too small for using a pen on

The article states this is 'confirmed' but of course take it as you will....it does sound reasonable of course.

It's the same source (a Korean Times affiliate) that originally confirmed it at 6.3". And Samfirmware, the number one purveyor of Samsung gossip, said the SGS4 was going to be exclusively S-600 and LCD which we know it's not. When a device is months away rumors are even less credible. Although with the SGS4 being 5” and shorter (based on cases seen at CBIT) 5.9” in a similar footprint to the Note II kind of makes sense.
Snapdragon for us and octa for world.

5.9 does sound reasonable, and if the N3 follows the S4 , yes, OCTA International and Snapdragon for the USA.
oh well, there can never be enough cores is there
Note 2 cant fit my pocket.. Even bigger is coming? Oh my gosh..
8 cores would be amazing! But I'll stay on note 2 for the next 2 years

I think they're going a bit too far by making it bigger.
I can use the Note 2 fine in my hands, but it seems like 5.5inch is the max I would want. Reaching the top left corner takes a bit more effort than any other part of the screen. My hands are large compared to almost all of my friends. Note 2 fits in my pockets just fine, but I do have some pants where it sticks out because their pockets are slightly too small. Women tend to have a big problem with this phone because women's pants have super small pockets (it should be a crime to make them so small).
I read somewhere that it is 5.9 inches with no hardware buttons. So if they shrink the bezel a bit, it won't be much larger than the note 2. Seems reasonable.

Finally they understand that 6.3 wont benifit them. Samsung has become wise somehow.

out of my desire, if really 5.9", i rather use s4
I'm expecting Note IV with 5.99" screen.

It will most propably have 5.7" screen, since that's enough for screen upgrade but can still be smaller by dimensions.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
They shouldn't increase the size. In my opinion 5.5 is the best..
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2
It will almost for certain be larger that 5.5, just the nature of the 'game'...BUT they will be a time in the not to distant future that they will have to stop playing on 'bigger is better'...
Note II is bigger than Note I but it feels and looks smaller because of better design. If they can magically do that again then I'm all for it.
can not agree more:highfive::highfive:
Guys, I had a Note I before my Note II - and I really miss the bigger screen, even though everything else is better. It's a shame this one will ONLY be 5.9".
Nice, even bigger screen but I'm pretty sure there's going to be complaints from people that can't fit their Note III in their pockets ...
