Hi all,
My Defy green lens is on Quarx CM10 2013-03-18 ROM, I have an issue when I want to restore a nandroid backup.
CWM displays "error while restoring /sdcard/.android_secure" at the end of the process.
I have tried a lot of things to get rid of this but no luck :
- I tried to search on XDA forums, no luck. No appropriate answers...
- I googled it, no luck.
- when I try to do a "utimate full wipe", then flash again CM10, restore my data and make an nandroid backup, then, finally, when I want to restore my nandroid, it says "error while restoring /sdcard/.android_secure"
- I tried to format my sdcard, no luck after a new try of backup / restore.
- I tried to move all my app on the internal memory instead of the sdcard, then tried to do a new nandroid backup. Then again, I have the same message "error while restoring /sdcard/.android_secure".
I know there is more recent builds but I still use 2013-03-18 because, IMO, it's the last stable one.
If I do the same with CM7 ROM, I haven't this issue about android_secure !
Any ideas ?

I have never been able to restore .android_secure with any CWM version. I extract the backup into the folder.

So, I just have to restore my Nandroid backup, ignore the error message, reboot and then, once booted on Android, extract android_secure from backup to sdcard android_secure folder ? That's all ? It works like this for you ?

Yes, this works for me (And reboot after extraction). Make sure system and data are restored properly though.
error restoring .android_secure
Hi I understand this thread maybe dead but I recently restored a nandroid from a 4.1.2 ROM and .android_secure had an error, I have read the above posts about rebooting (ignoring the error message) but when I look in sdcard I already have a folder called .android_secure and on the extsdcard I also have a folder called .android_secure but this one is empty, the one on the sdcard has data on it.
Therefore, I have some apps on the phone as I should have, and others are simply not there or are highlighted as not being installed.
From the above posts you talk about taking the backup nandroid and finding '.android_secure folder' and placing it onto the sdcard under .android_secure folder name, but given I already have a folder and data there do I delete the one already there or is this simply the same info being overwritten?
I have also tried to install missing apps/data via TB but this freezes or at least it doesn't process the install.
I figured if I sorted out the .android_secure this moght allow the missing apps/data to be installed from a reboot, is this anyway right?
Also, I do believe the apps that had been moved to the extsdcard are the apps that I'm having issues with, but given I have a TB backup then what issues would be that prevents them from being installed from the TB backup aswell (or are they separate issues), as I said they stall/freeze on install from TB.
All I want it my apps/data back, I have the info on the phone for sure, just how to execute it that it isn't painfully slow or repetitive for me to do, gaining the apps/daa back.
Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

Hi everyone,
I have a situation here with my Nexus 4. I am running CWM Recovery 6.0.4.3 and AOKP nightly builds. I was using Stock ROM before AOKP. That time, before I upgraded I was trying to make a nandroid backup. I had around 7GB free space before performing the backup. Eventually the backup went wrong, it said "Error while backing up /data". I don't know what to do so I just reboot and re-run the backup process, but it still gave me the same error. I then boot into my phone and realized something... my free memory space has lessened to around 2GB only! I then decided not to make the backup and just flash my ROM to AOKP. I thought this will clear the problem, but it's not.
So, my question is, how to clear this used space? I checked in the nandroid backup folder and found absolutely nothing there, so it must be somewhere else... Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance

Just as you said, it must be somewhere. Check other folders or even the rood of the virtual SD card. If you still don't find anything you may have to factory reset the device and wipe the SD card partition. Before you jump the gun though, make sure (assuming you're using windows as your PC OS, show hidden folders.
Did you check of have a Clockworkmod folder? Each time you create a backup, it creates a new folder with a new time stamp.
Use a file manager to delete the unnecessary or aborted backups. The backup folder should be visible with having to use an app such as Root Explorer.
I was performing a nandroid backup with CWM recovery but I keep getting
no /sdcard/.android_secure found Skipping backup of applications on external storage.
Dose it mean if i try to restore this backup I'll loose my all applications?
I don't know how to fix it.
Someone who have nexus4 please provide me .android_secure file

Have you used ClockworkMod ROM Manager to make nandroid backups?
If so it's saving the backups in a hidden folder on the internal storage. It eats up a lot of storage space quickly.
Try moving those nandroid backups to an external SD card and you should have the space you need.

I don't care what you want to do with it in the future. I'm telling you that this is what could have caused the problem you have now.

If no...stop reading. That isnt the problem.
If yes...the backups are taking up your storage space. Period. It doesn't matter if you are on touchwiz. In fact that makes it worse because touchwiz backups are 4 times the size of aosp backups. And you wont see the files listed in a file manager. They are hidden.
I am trying to help you here but you aren't giving enough information so I have to guess.
Hello and sorry for posting here but I can't find a solution to make Helium to restore or backup my apps to Sd card... I'm using Kushan ROM lite version... with Sd card protection removed... but I can't backup my apps... Please someone help me... Thank you !!
Use ES File Explorer instead to back up and restore apps. As a bonus, if you're rooted (and you should be if running a custom ROM), it can also back up the data associated with the apps for later restoration.
Or titanium backup
