After verifying my cpuid from 2 method, I went to vache's sbk generator and got a result.
But then the sbk verification returned with an error. I tried just the 15 cpuid digits, then with a 0 in front, and with 0x0 in front and it all generated the same SBK number. And I'm pretty sure the cpuid I got is correct because there's no way I could have downgraded from 3.2 to 3.0.1 with a wrong cpuid.
Any help here?
By the way, after doing the nvflash --bootloader.img --sbk x x x x --sync thing, it returned with an error and then my tablet gets disconnected and I need to hold power to turn off then turn it on and then have it enter apx mode again. Is this normal?

Any leading "0x" is discarded (it's just telling us it is a hex string).
What verification?

I see what you did there.
Anyway, the verification I'm saying is thatprocess of checking if SBK number is correct. You know, the nvflash --bootloader.img --sbk x x x x --sync command.
And the error?
rcm version 0X4
Command send failed (usb write failed)

could try a500 manager to see if it can extract it to check?
But the error says usb write failed not usb connection failed,
which leads me to think the sbk is ok just something else not working like it should...
not sure what else to tell you, what are you trying to flash?
try this....instead of --sync at the end put --go

Hey Dibb!! I know you already seen this , but for anyone else in here , your cpuid and sbk is a breeze now with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1675939

[SOLVED] how to rescue? "boot verified failed" "recovery verified failed"
Edit: Solved - searched through bazillions of threads -- just about all of them referenced Timmy Dean threads

2) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307539
Attempts to run PBJ20upgrade.exe after getting into APX mode were failing me with invalid CPUID.
Of course when you can't boot, or get to recovery, there's basically NO WAY to get your CPUID. The number provided by using usbdview is NOT the CPUID; it's the serial number aka the same serial number on the sdcard cover.
Thankfully, some months ago I saved the CPUID / UID in a notepad doc on another machine. Grabbed that number, popped it in when PBJ20upgrade.exe prompted and the device is now recovered.
Will look into ICS upgrades again after the teeth heal up... need rest now.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Context: had my wisdom teeth pulled so I'm a bit medicated; not sure what I did in trying to do an ICS upgrade, but I seem to have hosed my tablet for sure. Didn't realize a tablet counts as heavy machinery. ;-)
Power on shows "boot verified failed" in red; attempting to boot recovery with the vol- shows "recovery verified failed" in red.
-I cannot boot straight nor can I get into recovery.
+The tablet supposedly IS able to get into APX mode, though.
+I have my UID and SBK saved on my desktop in a text file for use as needed.
I have tried using BlackThund3r's APX Flash tool with the EUUs_SBK_Acer_A500_1.016.05_COM_GEN1.a500apx package to no avail (the flash tool recognizes the tablet as an APX device once in APX mode, but each of the writes seems to fail).
What else can I try?
The few search results for anyone that has experienced both errors were for people that were within warranty that sent it back to Acer... well, I'm out of warranty.
so did any of our info in your other thread help?

My old charger for the Iconia 500 broke and I got a replacement charger (not acer). When it came the iconia was already completely drained. I plugged it in, charged it, and since then the only thing that happens is this:
- I push power and after about 3s it turns white. Nothing happens on the screen, no vibration, nothing.
- I can turn the power back off by holding the button for 5s.
> I have tried holding the button longer but no difference.
> From what I have read I suspect it might somehow have gotten into APX mode?
> I have tried to read through the numerous posts on this forum but cannot quite find this same problem/am overwhelmed by the lingo.
> I have tried to connect the tablet to my PC with a microSD cable, and it lists it as APX, category unknown, APX doesn't have a driver
- Can anyone confirm/suggest what might be wrong with my tablet?
- Is this something that can be fixed at a repair shop?
- Is this something I could fix? (I have no ID's or codes for the tablet, have never played with APX mode before)
Thank you for any advice!

Hi chris, yes you are stuck in apx mode.
To fix this you must have your tabs CPUID.
The easiest way is from an old nandroid backup, thats if you have one. If you do, look in the cwm backup folder under cpuid.txt
If you dont have a backup, your only chance is thru ubuntu. There is a guide by "srbeen" stickied in the General forum.
If you can retrieve yr cpuid, post back here and we can help u get fixed. YoU will need anutha file to do this tho'. Its called babsector.rar and you can download it in post 2 in the root guide in my sig.
You will also need a rom to flash - only ICS or JB.
To summarise,
1. Retrieve the cpuid/sbk
2. Once you have that then
3. Download babsector and a rom.
4. Come back here for unbricking help.
Good luck with the cpuid/sbk, without it you can do nothing.

Thanks for your reply and your advice! It is nice to have the confirmation about what the problem is, and a step by step guide to start tackling it. I feel a bit less lost now I'm going to try to follow your steps and will let you know if I get stuck anywhere.
- Chris
next steps?
Ok, so somehow (a miracle I guess) I managed to do your steps:
- installed ubuntu
- followed srbeen's steps upto the point where I got my CPUID
- got my SBK
- downloaded babsector.rar (luckily chrome offered to translate the russian site I found it at)
- unrarred it
- downloaded a ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1935582 (is this an appropriate ROM?)
- unzipped the ROM and copied it to the external micro SD card
Can you point me in the right directions for the next steps?
Thanks,
Chris

Next steps?
Hi dibb_nz (and others)
I am still stuck. I have been trying several things, but none worked so far.
- I think the drivers are installed properly. When I go to device manager it lists APX under unspecified device - with Acer USB Boot recovery Driver installed under the hardware tab. It also says Model: APX, Category: Unknown
- I tried to run babsector, and it gives me an error. Before giving me the error it does get my tablet to show the text "Entering Acer Download Mode" in the topleft corner. Then I get the error "failed executing command 16 NvError 0x120002, command failure: create failed (bad data)" in the attached image.
- I also tried to follow the steps in Timmy Dean's V4 post, since I hoped maybe that would help, but that also gave me an error. (Red letters saying it failed, and to follow the steps again and try again).
I feel once more defeated, and hope you know what to do next.

OK< there is a slim chance u may be able to recover your tab.
There is a bct error - usually only one tool can repair this.
Download the apxflash tool.
Power your tab off.
Enter apx mode via the buttons - DO NOT use the tool to do this -
Connect your usb cable.
Run the tool - choose to go to the bundle market and download bundle 17.
If the apx driver has loaded and is showing in device manager then continue with the apx flash tool -
You will eventually see a window asking whether to dump and save yr bct, choose yes.
Hopefully the tool will carry on with the flash, once thats done, boot straight to recovery, complete the wipes and formats and then flash your rom.
I have done the steps below.
Just to make sure, when you are talking about the APX drivers being loaded, do you mean the one I see when I go to devices, right click on APX, choose hardware, where it says "ACER USB Boot-recovery driver" under device functions?
So when I tried to dump my own it gave me the following error (attached as image):
Unhandled exception, could not find file bct.dec.
It gave me the option to try to continue anyway, which I tried, but now it has been hanging in the screen "staging and backing up BCT, Using default BCT" for a long time...
so, does this mean it really is dead? And if so, what part of the tablet is dead? And if not (*hope*), then what else can I try?
Thanks,
Chris
ps. my tablet was never rooted, so I don't know if that complicates the matter... it does say that it needs to have been rooted to choose the dump option. Moreover, I never was able to turn USB debugging on, because I don't have access to the tablet. It does nothing besides black screen and occasionally the "Enter download mode" (but not with these steps)

Do you have the latest version of the apxflash tool....as far as I know, this is the ONLY way to fix a bct error....
So if you try and save yr tabs bct but you get the error and if u try to continue it just hangs???
The only thing I can suggest now is to power off both devices and then power on. When u get to the bct option try the default option first if it still hangs, power everything down again and this time try saving the bct again. Not much help I'm afraid, sometimes the tools do get stuck, and its best to power down and try again.

Well, I am trying to again with the default option, but it has been saying "Flashing bootloader (EBT) stage two - uploading image" for 45 minutes now, while another nvflash.exe window that popped up says "nvflash started, [resume mode]"
The tablet says "Acer Iconia APX mode" in the topleft.
I am not sure if it is doing something still (after 45 min) or that it is hanging.
I will let it sit a while longer, and if it doesn't work I will try all options again.
Will keep you posted.

Hey guys... Well i was one of the flashaholics who went ahead and tried to flash the 4.4.2 UK sbf and ended up bricking my phone which was completely bricked (NOT even FASTBOOT!) and after loads of research and help from people i was able to get my phone working again till fastboot again... P.S- I Have a Droid Maxx DE and used the Moto X files so this should work the same on a Moto X..
You know you are bricked when your phone doesn't get to the fastboot and when you connect it to the PC end up with a device with the name "QHSUSB_DLOAD" without a driver...
CAUTION
If you are here your phone is already screwed up big time! If it gets worse following this then DON'T blame ME!!
Prerequisites-
Moto X Drivers Installed
Adb and fastboot files set up
Riffbox JTAG Drivers (link below)
Sign-Driver Tool (link below)
Moto X blankflash tools(link below)
Downloads
Riffbox USB>Serial Drivers
Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider 1.3b
MOTO X blankflash files
Lets start now!
Because i tried to make the process understandable by all i tried explaing it in excruciating detail and hence will split it into two parts!!
PART-A
Installing the driver
First of all you cannot install the driver cuz it is not signed.. Now we gotta use a bypass tool "dseo13b"..
Extract the "Riffbox_Drivers" somewhere.. say the desktop..
Now run the dseo13b.exe and follow the on screen instructions till you reach a point where you don't know what to choose!
Now choose "Sign a System File" and when prompted for a .sys file navigate to the place where you extracted the drivers and then select "qcusbser.sys" then go back n Enable Test Mode as well and restart your PC.
Plug your phone first.
Right click on "my computer"
Choose "properties" and "device manager" (may vary on different windows OS)
Right click on the device and click "properties".
Choose the device with the name "QHSUSB_DLOAD" and click "update driver"
Select manually install the driver, and search the direction when you extracted the Riffbox driver.
Just follow this video for reference
Now under Ports in Device Manager you will find a port called Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM(The com port number which will vary but its important to know))
You are just half way there!
PART-B
Flashing the BLANK BOOTLOADER
Now extract the file "blankflash.zip" in C:\
Open up a Command Prompt and Navigate to the extracted location "cd C:\blankflash\" or anywhere where u extracted it.
Now run "qflash.exe -com(PORT NUMBER) -ramload MPRG8960.hex -mbn 33 MSM8960_bootloader_singleimage.bin -v -o" now where it says PORT NUMBER you have to replace it with the PORT number of Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 PORT as you can see from the code below mine was COM10 and then the Magic Happens and you will see something like this-
Code:
C:\Android>qflash.exe -com10 -ramload MPRG8960.hex -mbn 33 MSM8960_bootloader_si
ngleimage.bin -v -o

EDIT:- Once it was charged... used RSD lite n flashed the 4.4 Dev edition sbf this time and VOLA its Alive!!!!! :fingers-crossed:
Okay after you get to the fastboot and get the hab check error then try the following

Ok, do you have the fastboot binary installed?
If so, please do this:
From the bootloader screen: type the following commands:
fastboot flash bootloader motoboot.img
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot reboot-bootloader
NOW try RSD Lite again.
Here's the explaination: What we are doing is JUST flashing the bootloader and the partition table (gpt.bin). Then we are immediately rebooting the system back to the bootloader so the device can LOAD the bootloader and the new partition table, BEFORE we proceed with flashing the rest of the partitions.
I've helped several (but not all!!!) people recovery by doing this. It may not work for you, but it is worth a try. Good Luck.

Wait this happened to me too... Try another PC once or connect it with a different Data cable or try holding the power button for 10sec n leaving it and then again press for a few second... I did this entirely on a Windows 7 64 bit PC.. And even I couldn't get the device to show up at first... Or just connect it to your charger for sometime... But AFAIK it shouldn't even charge at this stage... But hey... Worth a try!

Sounds like it may just come back to life yet. You're using a usb 2.0 (not 3.0) port right?

I was meaning the port on the computer itself. Newer 3.0 compatible ports often don't work as well for stuff like this.

Hi,
I am having problem with my acer a500 tab, that it stuck on Flashing Bootloader (EBT) stage two - uploading image... i have attached the screen shot showning that my device is my APX mode and also the screen of tab which also shows its in downloading mode... kindly help needed, also let you know that first i had a CPUID and SBK different then now because i have read in @dibb_nz thread of CPUID that "You CANNOT use lowercase letters in your cpuid. If you do lowercase it will give you a different result "
so previous was with lower case and now its with upper case to create a SBK
so is there a possibility that it due to the issue of wrong SBK because i assume that SBK s right now and i have reached this far. Does it reach this stage of Flashing Bootloader (EBT) stage two - uploading image if SBK is wrong or is my partition damaged or anything else? Suggestion required plsssss....and let me resolve this issue....
Thanks

BCT error - the apxFlash tool is the only solution and often by the time you get to where you are at, it can be too late...run the tool, when you get to the BCT window choose to dump and save yr bct. Then use the saved bct. If you still have no joy after that, then its pretty much toast, this line was by @dibb_nz (which havent answer yet )... well i tried the dump option and it takes forever.. so that means it is toasted :crying:
well there much be some way as i see ACER logo and a download mode on screen and windows detect my tab in APX MODE pls help.
