Hey XDA!,
I have tried a couple of NAND ICS roms on my HD2. The nexus HD2 by tytung and icecreamtosti. Plus i think i tried one with dorimanx kernel. Anyways, all the roms seem to lag on my fone. They work fine but as compared to the gingerbread roms, they are not smooth or as fast. They seem to be a bit slow. I flashed the correct partition sizes and later even partitions that were 10 or 15mb greater than required to allow for bad NAND blocks.
Anything else i can do to make these roms equally as smooth as the gingerbread roms or do i have to wait for furthur develpment?

I used the v2.1 of the nexus rom and v1.1 of tosti. And i didnt move anything anywhere. I just installed the Rom, allowed it to set for atleast 15 minutes. Then reset it just to be sure. But stil.......

The launchers are for some reason laggy. Try GO Launcher, Launcher Pro or ADW (any launcher not based on ICS basically) and they're buttery smooth (much faster than GB). I've found messaging, contacts, dialer and browser to me much faster than CM7 and pretty much the only app I would consider to be slow is the Music app. The phone also lags hugely whilst playing music.

I see, but if i switch to other launchers, i lose that ICS interface. Thans anyways

Yeah, I know what you mean. I have Nova and Apex also installed (as well as Trebuchet) and I keep hoping that in the next update I see the launcher won't lag, but sadly it always does. Still, GO Launcher is actually the most functional launcher I've found, even if it eats a fair amount of RAM.

As I said, I've tried most of the 3rd party ICS launchers. None of them are actually as smooth as GO Launcher (or even smooth at all)
I think i solved it nigel. You probably would know this.
Anyways i am using GO launcher with the nexus rom. Its working GREAT. For the interface, i just downloaded the theme from the play store. Haha a ICS theme on a ICS rom.

I used that theme on CM7 but it really doesn't give a full ICS interface without the 'card stack' transitions, and really that's all I wanted. The app drawer is really very good on ICS, but unfortunately none of the non-ICS launchers seem to be able to mimick that. I personally prefer the GO Launcher symbols on the dock though, seem more polished for some reason

its fast and smooth on the rom im using now
and has cardstack animation

After playing around with launcher Pro, i realised that the app drawer is quite laggy.
Funny thing is when i switch to the stock mode the app drawer is nice a smoood (yes Smoood lol)
Is anyone else having a similar issue ?

It is a launcher similar to launcher pro but free, very lightweight it is on the market i think there is a thread on here about it aswell. I can recommend it pal.

Still some glitches, but not as much as lp. But lp, might take centre stage when its re-write is complete.

after installing Froyo i also had a laggy Launcherpro.
i did a factory reset today. reinstalled everything and LP seems to work way better
( so is froyo btw )

I know what you mean, like you I am waiting for the re-write, I just felt LP got a bit heavy, and seemed even heavier now I'm on froyo.

I did that when I installed froyo, complete wipe of everything, I am a big believer in that but the problem still arose. Might re-flash again if another build comes out and see where it gets me.
Yeah launcherpro has been slow since froyo, I'm using ADW cause of that
Cool, I'm not alone then. Might give lp a rest till the new version comes, built for froyo. Using zeam as recommended. Kinda love it more than lp atm.

I actually uninstalled ADW and replaced it with launcher pro because ADW became laggy after the last update. I tried both again after upgrading to Froyo and didn't come to a different conclusion. It's too bad because I really liked ADW a lot before the last update ruined it. Sticking with launcher pro for now. Touchwiz also has lag in 2.2, similar to ADW but I have long lost faith in anything Samsung software related.

Zeam looks good but no extra widgets like in launcher pro... Can't make do without a friends stream widget. And why can't we use Samsung widgets in any of these launchers ?

Obviously because they were made by Samsung. They can't make their software compatible with their hardware so we can't expect their software to be compatible with other software

Apart from that they made it slow, nothing much is different as far as I can tell. A couple of changes to their widgets but you wouldn't care about that anyway if you hadn't shelled out the 3 bucks for the plus version.
Haha yeah. And now I've sampled and tailored zeam to my needs, I have no use for lp lol. Google should extend refund periods lol.

Ok so personally launcher pro is my favorite launcher but since I am running cm7 gingerbread its kinda laggy. Has anybody been able to optimize it for cm7 if you have can u please give me a link to download it.

LP + Froyo with the 3D app drawer used to run at what seemed a smooth 50+ fps. Now it's around half that, definitely took a visual hit. The zooming app drawer transition also took a hit. I've tried every kernel/governor and it's the same.

Dunno...it seems fine to me.
Works fine on my cm7 bit I mainly used adwex

You guys haven't gone back to a froyo rom yet. Check lpp on froyo compared to 2.3 and let me know what you think

Yep LP + CM7 suck. CM7 Open source...LP closed source platform, Team win win does not like to play with anything closed source... least thats what I was told months ago. I found a way to make ADW ex match my LP set up ... only thing missing is widgets.
I hope LP re write fixes this

LPP runs better IMHO on any rom other than CM7. I've ran Mikfroyo, fresh, warm
I only have one issue with LP on CM7. Whenever I reboot, it lags big time and then LP force closes. After the FC it starts right back up and then it runs flawlessly.

This is my understanding as well, it seems we will have to wait for the developers of LP to optimize for GB. There is a HUGE performance difference between 2.2 & 2.3 w/ LP
Fine for me on latest Nightly, however, you could always just wait for the rewrite update, which should be like any week now...

That's because none of those ROMs are gingerbread, all sense ROMs are still froyo

Mine seems to run fairly smooth, however, I also get the crash when I boot the phone, and it seems to occasionally lag a bit, but after a while it'll fix itself and be smooth once more.
OK so just wanted to give my opinion yes Lp does run smooth on GB but it doesnt feal as smooth by when i am running adw EX. And yes i know that adw ex is already rewritten for GB. But as soon as LP rewrites for GB going straight back to LPP. I just love those widgets. BUt i sure love the fluxed icons theme for adw. Is there a way to install the flux theme to LP?

Zeam Launcher is probably the lightest but you loose a lot of functionality. There's also ADW.Launcher, QQLauncher, Launcher 7, and 360 Launcher which marko! suggested though I haven't tried it. I love Go Launcher but that's just me. Try out the other ones and see how you like them.
Been using GO launcher for about a month now, i love it. But there is always Adw....

Wish the lockscreen worked have to plug phone up to get it to come back on, but besides that its real smooth I wouold says smoothest I've seen and go launcher is super smooth but I think 360 takes the cake thanks for enlightenment on this launcher marko

Touchwizz is great but it's laggy, did anyone try to use the stock apk launcher from the xoom or the asus transformer?
I found an apk but the installation doesn't work

Im curious about this too although i hate touchwiz... i would love to be able to get a stock build of ICS on the Galaxy Tab 7.7 and do away with touchwiz completely..

ADW EX is really fantastic!
The problem with TouchWiz is that it's much more than just a launcher; it affects the entire system from the way menus look, transition effects, the buttons at the bottom, etc.
If you really want a stock Android experience, we need someone to develop an AOSP ROM of some sort. Here's to hoping that the Cyanogemod team builds us a version of CM9!!!

Yeah lets hope they include the stock loancher with ICS. We are half way there now that Google forced all OEMs to include the stock launcher code even if its not used. Might enable us to use the Cyanogen "Trebuchet" launcher.
For now I guess Ill try Go Launcher and ADW later. Was not very happy with ADW on my SGS2. Lots of bugs.

ADW Launcher EX supports Themes, and in the market there are themes for Holo HC theme you mentioned.

Hey all. I'm currently running SparksCo's v1.1 Stable rom (CM 7.2.0) and everything is great except the lag/stutter I experience when swiping between home screens.
After using ADW for months, I said enough is enough and I am currently using Zeam Launcher, but there still is a slight hesitation/stutter after exiting an app. Miui is buttery smooth 100% of the time and even various Sense roms seem to have consistently smoother transitions than anything i've experienced on vanilla/lightly modified CM roms.
So if anybody has any recommendations, i'm all ears (or rather, eyes). Thanks!

Not to mention that it is the only commonly used thrid-party Launcher without spyware. Moreover, since the "devs" for Go launcher and Launcher Pro simply steal all of their code from Anderwebs, if ADW has issues for you, so will these.
Stick with ADWEX and play with the settings until smooth. If you run any Go products, cyou might as well write you credit card number on Tiananmen square, because all your personal info, pictures, etc, will be sent to China.

I'm a bit of a privacy/security nut, so I took your advice on Go Launcher after reading the broken English on their market page. I'll give ADW EX a try, but for a paid app it'll have to be perfect.

JK lol, AOSP is great actually running cm7 nightly 255 on the shift right now.
But i'd be hurting both your and myself by not recommending ADW EX. Way better than the free ADW on the market that comes with CyanogenMod 7.
