[Q] What's the most stable MIUI rom (non-ics) - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Along time ago I used a MIUI rom, and it was awesome. Rock solid stable and easy to use. I think it was MIUI.us 1.11.18, or at least that is the rom I found in my U8800 folder.
I want to go back to MIUI again, but stability is of the utmost importance. I tried Miui V3 2.4.20 [2.6.35 & 2.6.32] [U8800], the .35 version, over in developer forum. I've had a lot of task bar crashes, and a couple of other weird things happen. I'm downloading the .32 version now to try, and I also went to MIUI.us and downloaded the latest version there (1.12.9).
I see there are a lot MIUI roms in the forums. Does anyone know of any other ones that near perfection in their stability. I don't need the latest and greatest updates, I need stability. I use my phone for work related stuff a lot, and a crash can cause some problems.
Thanks for the help.
EDIT: Just realized this isn't the Q&A section. If a mod wants to move it, please do.

Very strange things about notify bar you say. I've using sbasil's miui v3 and it's very stable for me. No reboots, no crashes, everything working. Maybe you just didn't updated to 35kernel (installed official 2.3) and that's why this happens. If did, try to do 3 wipes, flash rom, 3 wipes and install it again.

yeah, I thought it pretty strange too. I'm on B136, which is 2.3, so I'll try wiping/flashing it again.

fyi b136 is not 2.3. you have to use a 2.6.32.9 kernel based rom.

Recommedation Required: Best Gingerbread Custom ROM

I've been using Micromod's v.19 GB ROM for about a month now, however, it's becoming more apparent that it's not very bug free as I use it more. The bugs seem to be increasing, I get more app crashes and weird bugs the more I use it.
I haven't tried a ROM based on the CM7 nightlies yet. Does anyone have a recommendation for any of the Gingerbread custom ROMs?

I've been tempted to move to LeoGingerBread ROM. It's based on AOSP with CM7 filling in the missing parts and is customizable through leoparts. Seems to be a complete package.
So flash another rom and see for yourself..
Micromod is a nice rom but has got a lots of bugs and is not as stable. Now answer to your question - it's really a personal preference, I am using CM7 nightlies since a month, its been improving and updating almost everyday, getting better with each iteration. Again, its a personal preference, but why don't you just try downloading those roms with gingerbread and try them for a few days one by one... may be you will find one which suits your needs.
I find CM7 really slow, compared to some Froyo ROMs (i.e. Enomther). Even LeoGingerbread is slow, as it includes CM7's framework (as of the actual version).

I've been very pleased with Micromod's Gingerbread Custom CM7 Mod. The only issue I have is occasional resets, but it sounds like that's a problem with other CM7 ROMs as well.
BTW, does anyone know if FM radio is working on any of the other CM7 Gingerbread ROMs? That's the main reason I chose Micromod's version over the others.
Using Leo's ROM now. Wait for 0.9.2 and flash (currently there's a bug in Apps2SD). It's a mix of AOSP and CM7.
Didn't encounter any weirdness yet.

I'm agree with you. I've been using MicroMod CM 7 v1.3 for almost a month and it works very well. It's too bad that MM left us for another phone :-(
But, thanks for your great effort MicroMod :-D
I personally like Geo's GRH55 build. Fairly stock, but it's speedy and has trackball awake - the only killer feature I needed.
[ROM] Gingerbread (GRH55), Deodexed, rooted, busybox, battery%, TB alert/wake 2/11/11
On the downside, HQ Youtube is not working on it, but it appears everything else is so far.

[Q] why are you flashing unstable ROMS? (please read)

hello all i recently joined xda because i bought samsung galaxy 3. now as i have been looking for the rom threads in developement section i noticed that i cant post there so i read couple of rom threads and i was stunned. as i see there are 4 main rom makers, lastatious, kyrillos, apocalyps and greenmod. but when i first watched lastatious rom thread i saw that there are MANY problems in lastatious 1.8 also the same thing happened in apocalyps thread, people complain about the rom and they say it crashes/freezes a lot and some even say that they have flashed their phone with the same rom over and over again (like atleast 5times) and still they complain... but when i watched kyrillos and greenmod rom thread people said that they are almost bug free, even tough that greenmod rom is in beta it looks like its far more stable than apocalyps. and as i see it kyrillos rom is more stable than lastatious(and it isnt in beta) but most of the people will flash their rom with unstable lastatious or apocalyps... why? and if the rom wont work they will flash it again and again... why? why wont you use almost bug free roms instead of crashing/freezing rom? as i see it lastatious and apocalyps are the most downloaded and favorited roms but they are also very unstable roms... and this post was not a hate post to the great rom developers out there, i just dont get it... please reply to my post
p.s this was too big first post right?
Hmm... I don't know (about the unstable ROM flashing) p.s that was quite big post but it doesn't matter p.p.s yes you need 10 posts to post on Dec section

yeah i mean dev thanks for clearing that up
I myself do it to help the developer by testing his ROM and all of It's features, and then report results to the dev. Seeing as I've got very minimal skills or brain to contribute in the development I see it as the least I can do.
i tryed some. kyrillos did with every reboot a factory reset? i couldnt install apps and my phone got really hot i flashed it twice.. i tryed apocalypse but i got a softbrick when i rebooted my phone? I flashed back to indroid everytime becouse that one worked perfectly but when greenmods v1.0 is ill flash that one. it has 1% battery mod and it has neon theme that i like (sorry for my english)
Lestatious 1.7 worked bug-free.
Lestatious 1.8 has some minor issues with the kernel and Data2SD.
I'd still say Lestatious is the best ROM for me!

It's the urge to stay on the cutting edge and also the psychology of greener grass. I'm taking more of a backseat now as opposed the first few weeks of having the phone.
why flash unstable / beta ROMs? If you mean mindless flashing ('WOW, cool name, let's flash!!!') then I don't know
but if you want to help with development, testing, reporting bugs, contribute somehow, then it is perfectly justified
Apocalypse is in beta stage and of course it may have some bugs but will be fixed untill the final release.
Lestatious i think its a stable rom but v1.8 has an alpha version kernel which is not as stable as beta or final.
My rom has also an alpha version kernel with some freezes rarely.
I havent tried GreenMod but it seems that its nice rom

I flashed your rom 4.1 directly from DDJP2 with the hope that the camera and the faceobook touch site would open. But still it has the camera bug. So i changed to Stock european version new release. XWJPF and i like it.
Though its has the camera bug and facebook touch site wont open. Do you have any solution for this???

Will be waitng for your reply soon.
people flash unstable roms because they want to support the developer and test out some of the newer features of the rom. if nobody tests them, how are they gonna stamp out the bugs? unless you want to stick to the boring stock g3.
unstable as it is, its not like any real damage is done. whatever happens, you can just reflash it. no biggie

I dont think so because it was working perfect on my Stock eclair DDJG6. But after upgraing i am having this prblm. My camera is working perfect but if the location is enabled and if i dont have lock on my position my camera would force close if a click a photo. But if its turned off it works flawlessly. And in FROYO their isnt any option for turning off Geo-tagging.
Do you have any solution for this prblem..or a most stable ROM that doesnt have any prblm.

hi
i think u got ur answers here
but i have been using kyrillos13 recent rom and its quite stable and good for me
i think its more what one wants if ur a basic user like me its ok. IF u are a heavy user that is u want LWP gps & blah blah then yes u would have many problems
and no matter how good the rom is overclocking is always gona give u the problem because the manufacture has a reason why he has made the phone for a certain speed we try to boost it very very high then their will be a problem
somewhere i read that a +10to 15% is ok but guys here boost it like double so ur bound to get problems
Well basically we all like to stay on the current situation...coz if u miss out on sumthing ull get thrown behind eons...so its better to stay updated here on xda!
Plus checking out alphas betas n oder stable ROMs is quite fun...u get a look of what oder smart-brained dev did to ur fone frm a piece of junk to a heavenly piece!...Happy Flashing!

hey quick question on roms and which ones have been proven and are current..sorry

hey guys, and sorry for a question i know must have been asked before, but i am unable to find.
What roms are the best and most up to date as of now?
i was going to go with cm7 but saw we had cm9 and a few others out there, my real question is, anything better then cm7 out there?
this will be used for my wife, who just wants it to work, as little freezes and hang ups as possible, feature set means nothing next to speed and reliability.
this is my last attempt to make this phone usable for her before i take my 12 gauge to it. please please help! i have to her hear whine everyday with the 2.6.1(think that's it) kernel on there (hasn't been updated in over a year, so anything should be an improvement, it's just hard to get the phone off her long enough to toy with it)
In that case I would use either Superclean 3 or Geewiz
Both are stock EH03 based Touchwiz ROMS. Neither has bleeding edge features but they both just work and are the most up to date ROMs that come from the Samsung/Verizon base. Personally, I have found these ROMS to be the best on battery longevity.

cool, i already d/l'd the geewhiz but it's not taking like the other rom's i'm used to, flashed stock rom E3 and booted in to recovery and tried to update with gwiz through recovery, signature error of some sort, will try again with the other one you mentioned ..... or do i need to load the kernel using odin then flash rom through recovery?
I would also recomend giving Team Hacksung ICS build 6.5 w/ Icy Glitch v14 b4 kernel a try! No doubt superclean and geewiz are great roms, but I think you will like ICS 4.0.3 the best...just sayin.

i thought i saw that as a beta build, been around long enough to be proven?
[KERNEL][CM9][1/29/12] Icy Glitch V14 - BETA - LiveOC - Voodoo - DIDLE - USBhost
gotta bail from work will be back on with the tablet in about an hour.
ICS still has some issues and while it's good enough for 99% of people if this is for pure stability for a nontechnical user I'd say to go for the ROMs I mentioned earlier. Some issues on ICS are MMS doesn't work with wifi on, the datadata issue, the ui is a bit different from Touchwiz ROMs, phantom ring still occurs, CWM and nandroids still have some issues, and it's on a pretty rapid release cycle which would mean that you would need to update her phone fairly often.
ICS is great and it's what I'm running but I think the more mature EH03 ROMS are appropriate in this case.
EDIT:
The link you have goes to Glitch which is a kernel. That is part of the operating system but isn't the entire ICS OS. ICS ROM development is centered over at the rootzwiki developer forum. AOKP, Gummy, and teamhacksung's build are the premier builds.

Yeah, i figured if the kernel was in beta the rom would be as well, got her on super clean and she likes it , still can't tell the difference between that and a 2.6.1 build that was beta around a year ago, lol, thanks for the help and ics is sick , but bob nailed it in regards to my intentions.
That said , thanks to the both of you for bothering with this b.s. question in the first place , i was at work trying to sort her phone out , she needs her phone , life is chaos and time is short, thanks for making it all a little more easy. Also great to see such great support still going on for this, envious with my charge in regards to roms.
Hope i don't need to post here again for a while if you get what I'm saying, haha !! Thanks a ton !

It's no harder than flashing any other Rom. Just do a full wipe before install.
Roms based on stock firmware are usually more stable than CMs or other aosp, but I ran Jordan stable for a long time without issue. Might just need to wipe your caches and fix permissions, or do a reinstall of the current rom.
Please hit Thanks if I've been helpful at all.

[Q] Most stable Defy ROM?

Im giving away my Defy to my brother, who is not good at ROM hacking thus I want to install him a ROM that is as stable as possible. I've installed one of Quarx's 4.3 ROM to it (2 months ago), but after a few days it refused to boot (guess it was the data corruption bug). So I wiped everything, now it has stock 2.2 ROM.
Any recommendations on a newer ROM, that has as few issues as possible?

Do not install Slimbean for someone who doesn't flash his phone. Slimbean uses a customized version of the playstore, which means that the playstore won't work if google updates it.
There's nothing like CM7 for stability. I thought 4.1.2 was robust but it's starting to behave strangely after a couple of weeks of use.

Is Slimybean based on Quarx's 4.3 ROM? Cause that has several bugs - one of them is, that a partition gets corrupted rendering the phone unable to boot.

Check the link for sources. If you mean Master Quarx's kernel, then yes. But if you want to use another one in JB, your choises are very limited..
This build is too an unofficial port, so only Slim-parts can be called stable, to be more accurate.

Bottom line is, the playstore has a convenient auto update feature which Slimroms disables. His brother would have to go to slimroms.net to download further playstore updates. Besides, Slimroms.net could stop supporting the ROM at any time and he would be "stuck" with an outdated playstore. It would work but he would have to pass on any new features or fixes. That's something to consider.
Second thing to consider, every ROM is based on Quarx ROMs. This means that every custom ROM is likely to have Quarx's bugs AND the bugs of the cutomized ROM.
4.3 performs well but it is not 100% functional. I've read they had troubles with bluetooth and I found that some options don't work (adding APN for instance).
4.1.2 is mostly functional but it's not 100% stable. I had several reboots on a fresh install.
Epsylon's latest 4.0.4 is still a good pick. I just installed it and it performs better than JB on Kingdom Rush (it stuttered, crashed and reboot on JB and worked flawlessly on ICS!)
CM7.2 is awesome in every aspects BUT it doesn't have HWA, which means he won't be able to use some of the latest app. Of course, it doesn't mean much since the Defy is not very powerful. But there are some good HWA only apps that still work on the Defy.
I'll say Xperia D3.4 for Defy/Defy+ based on Quarx's CM10 (20130117). It's fast, clutter free, and stable. A very good music player, stable camera, and lots of other addons. Battery life is also not bad.
Because AndroidOS is a chopped/adapted Linux for every hardware (it doesn't contain large drivers library for space economy) is per se a not very stable OS. Even the original firmware isn't "very" stable so the various kind of mods is unstable either. Every mod ROMs is made to cover some aspects and for this cause you must pick the most appropriate for your needs. For beginner try to accomodate with original firmware first, after that try a CM7.x and if you wanna adventure pick a JB or a KK mod. Enjoy.
