I have recently agreed to a trade with someone for a Droid x. I am on att, and just want to use it as a media device for music. Can I bypass the activation or whatever when setting up my phone? I won't use it unless I switch.
Phone has a clean esn by the way.

Yep. Use it wifi only.

skip activation
I have a droid x which I use as a tablet, we have no CDMA networks in South Africa but I bypass the activation process by touching the four corners of the screen until it takes me passed the activation screen, I hope this helps.
+1. Confirmed.

Droid X GeneralAny way to skip activation
Touching four corners in a clock wise direction also works for Droid and now Droid X as well. 1+
Can also confirm this works

Has anyone found a activation bypass on the verizon galaxy tab? It would be much appreciated as i work in a verizon store and they have not provided us with a activated tab to demo for customers.
Well I bought my tab from Verizon and they gave me a wifi only version like I asked for.

Huh? The wifi only version isn't being released until 2011. They probably just let you waive the first month of 3G service.
So does the age old trick of tapping the four corners of the screen clockwise starting at the top left now longer work?
Sent from my SCH-I800 using XDA App
on the other devices you can touch all four corners of the screen clockwise and it will bypass activation. give it a shot and let us know
I will try it when I go into work in the morning. I will let you guys know.

The four corner press clock wise does work. Thank you.
At the activation screen using the volume key: up down down up up up down down down down.
Works perfect!

What?
I was expecting up up down down left right left right A B start.
UP / Down does work
I can confirm that the up down stuff works! Tried it on 4 Tabs already
Bypass tricks not working
I was a little too excited to start using our new Sprint Galaxy that I cancelled out the activation to get to the fun stuff. now it keeps telling me that activation is not complete. I've tried the 4 corners trick and the volume button trick and it still wont go away.
Anyone have any other ideas?

Im on the same boat . . . . .are we assed out?

I guess so. We've been on the phone all morning with Sprint,Samsung and best buy and not getting anywhere. When we bought it at best buy we had a choice between a sprint version and a Verizon one. But the Verizon needed at least a 1 month activation. So we bought the sprint. Now spiny and Samsung are saying that we need to sign up for an account to activate it or just live with the constant reminders.
There has to be a way around it though. Anyone? A little help here?
Okay, so shortly after buying my atrix, I decided to splurge and buy a bluetooth keyboard for it, so I bought the Microsoft Mobile Bluetooth keyboard 6000, which I've found to be a lot better than the moto branded one. Sadly, after about a week of owning the phone, I felt like I needed to change it up so I traded for a Desire HD. Now I have a keyboard and no way to use it, so I thought I would come to XDA first
I've only used the keyboard once or twice, and I can confirm both the keyboard and the numpad work. In fact, some of the keys on the keyboard actually become shortcut keys (I.E home, back etc) even the volume up/volume down/ mute keys work properly.
I got it for about 50 or 60 plus tax, but I'll sell it for 30, shipping not included. Or if anyone is located nearby orange county, California, I'd be willing to let them pick it up. If anyone is interested feel free to post.

I would gladly buy it! Would you be willing to ship it to Kentucky?
EDIT: Of course, I would also pay for shipping costs.
I can get a box myself but it may take a few days due to my schedule

Okay, you'll have to handle the shipping particulars (providing some sort packaging or box and handling the shipping costs) I don't have the time to pick up a box unfortunately

I have an s3 but decided to sbf back to stock to root and ROM etc.
I completely forgot I have to activate my phone before I use it on stock and I obviously can't because switching back from a 3g phone to a 4g is a pain.
Is there anyway to bypass this screen or at least get a recovery on this thing without activating?
Thanks.

I just got a Droid X for dirt cheap and ran into this same problem. After some googling, I found if you press the 4 corners of the touch screen it will unlock. Weird, I know but it worked for me.

So I accidentally dropped my moto x and now the screen isn't turning on. There's no physical damage to the screen itself of the phone except pressing the button to turn it on doesn't turn on the display. I can still get phone calls and I've tried to reset it but nothing seems to work. What could happen to it to make it so the display doesn't turn on? Is it frozen or unresponsive or could the connection internally to the display be broken? I'm not sure what to do here. I won the phone through an online contest and sold my old phone so it's my only option and I don't know if there's a warranty on the thing. Any help would be awesome.

I also wanted to mention that it is a 100% stock Verizon wireless developer edition running 4.4.2

Your second theory is the correct assumption.
There is a warranty on your device. But since you're not the "original" owner, not sure how far Motorola will help you. But you can give it a shot and see how far it goes.
This seems to be far better suited in the Q/A section.
Kenichi
Yeah that's what I was thinking. Should I just call Motorola directly?

if you dropped it, there is no warranty coverage. However, Motorola has helped other people out with cracked screens so it is worth a try.
