Anyone tried KingDroid ICS 1.6 ROM? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Hi Guys,
Did anyone tried KingDroid ICS 1.6 ROM....any review or suggestion?...presently i am on CM9...is it worth flashing to it?

Dear abheshekk,
I am on v1.6 now and it is very smooth&stable... Cm9 is still in its early beta stage and may have much more bugs than tw based kingdroid v1.6... It is worth to flash according to me... V1.6 contains latest ported apps from sgs3 ics rom including toucwiz ux... Call rec is enabled and all spen stuff is working... I am very satisfied with v1.6...
Kind regards.

Every time you change ROM you should wipe, just be careful with the brick issue when wipe on ics stock kernel

Amazing answer XD
as for his question i was and yes it's smooth stable and has great responses, worth flashing if you are lookng for something realy stable and has lots of features (without losing the hardware function like in CM9).

My point was when someone is asking a group of people about opinion on something I will keep quite when I haven't tried it. Posting for the sake of posting in a thread is not a great idea.

I'm on LPF + bootloader flashed using Dr.Ketan instructions. Does anyone moved from this LPF to KDv1.6?
how do you do it? no matter if it does wipe.

It's fine, but I like Rocket Rom more. I don't know why, but I guess it's because I ran with eybee's old ICS leak which was awesome.
Rocket Rom v2 + my SGS3 theme = smooth as hell.

Alternatively the OP could have read the KingDroid thread and make his own decision based on what people report in that thread instead of making a new one that clutters up the forum.

Try it. Rom, is very stable, new touchwiz is amazing and s voice works better than just installing the app on other ROM.

I'm using it right now, it's mostly smooth but google maps randomly FCs and after hanging up on phone calls it freezes for 5 seconds or so.

Yeah I'm getting that issue too! But otherwise it's a stable rom though it doesn't really work to well if your planning on using I like better but I have a feeling that Rocket Rom is going to be my choice just because I loved the GB equivalent.

Fool proof instruction from LPF (Ketan)
First get these to files on SD(cant post links, google pls):
CF-Root-SGN_ZS_OZS_LPF-v5.3 (get the .tar since Mobile Odin can not flash .zip)
AbyssNote kernel 4.2 Final RedPill Touch Original Logo (.zip vers.)
and the Kingdroid Rom
Download Mobile Odin(pro) and flash CF-Root-SGN_ZS_OZS_LPF-v5.3
Now Boot into recovery and flash AbyssNote kernel, still in CF-Root go to advance and reboot recovery (so now you are in abyss recovery)
In Abyss first Wipe Data/Factory after that wipe Cache and then wipe Dalvik
Now install from SD and chose Flash Kingdroid rom
Reboot and enjoy GNote

Thank you for doing this. I was thinking the same thing. Nice job and this was definitely need. Much confusion about which, where and how to find them.
But where is the real V13 link ......
What are the differences between the different boot kernels?

Take a look at your CPU min value, if it's set at 100, that could be why your lockscreen doesn't respond. Bump it up to 200 and that should fix it.

Best performance/smoothness I have found using passion v13 and this kernel: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432051
it has lots of performance tweaks but really helps with the 65fps increase. all other kernels I have tested only have 55-56 fps. the 10fps makes a huge difference in the smoothness of transitions and especially in 3d apps.
you can easily test by downloading "FPS Test" on the android market. its free.
one drawback: I wasn't able to overclock over 1.1ghz stable. I had to use nstools to live OC as built in overclock did not have 1100mhz option with this kernel
Multiupload down...
can you make another link?
Thanks

Thanks for posting the links, cleanup link is not working in passion thread. I have few newbee questions
Currently i am running bionix 1.3.1 Fishmanmod.
1) I have read somewhere that one can install this over bionix 1.3.1 without cm7 and GB Bootloaders. Resulting boot loop can be fixed by reflashing ICS passion by removing the battery.
OR is better to JFD to stock froyo and install CM7 and bootloaders. Is the ICS_Passion_v13_boot.zip file i would use to flash booloader or should i download from bootloader link in ICS Passion post.
2) How to use clean up patch, do i use it before or after installing ICS Passion.
Thanks for your help.

I have always done the Odin JFD > CWM CM7 > Odin GB Bootloader > ICS.
The ICS_Passion_v13_boot.zip is the kernel from Passion v13rc1. The clean up patch is ONLY used after flashing the v13boot3 kernel. Using the v13 cleanup patch with any other kernel can possibly mess with your phone and require a Odin to JFD. (1st hand experience)
Thanks for this great post, followed it and was able to install ICS Passion on my vibrant. I have a quick question, now all the carrier names are displayed as numbers. Do you know of any fix for that.
One more thing i want to add is that my camera/video was not working and i had tried couple of different roms but all gave me this error "Camera failed". But now its working like a charm. Cannot post in dev forum right now but would like to thank the developer.
No wipe is a must.

The Kiss kernel is included with EuphoriaRC1, but Kiss v2.2 was released afterwards. Kiss v2.2 also solves many problems people were having kernels included with Passion starting with v12 to v13rc1, i.e. GPS w&w/o deepsleep and also Speakerphone issues.

yeah. they released a flow chart with percentages a week ago. if i find ill link. but based on the flow chart we have ~66% chance of official cm9 (do we really need it though?) we already have a AOKP, Gummy, MIUI v4, nightly kangs, THS and Codename (most of these roms from Stephen.k.spear thanks btw) so in all reality, would the world end with out offic cm9?

Looks like Paranoid is CM9 based so nearly no bricking risk there
Kingdriod is based on an official Kernel, so big risk of bricking .
I could be quite wrong here though.. do your own research.

The install looks very intimidating for new flashers.
And to complicate things, there is a list of prerequisites and DONT'S. IF.......

It's not confusing as long as you get the concept right. Just remember one thing.
All stock Samsung ROM are dangerous and you do not want to flash anything over them.
All AOSP ROM are safe and you can flash over them.
So what happens if you are on Samsung official like LPx, LBx, etc ? First, flash a gingerbread ROM with no wipe and then proceed with the usual flash procedure. This applies for ANY ROM that you wanted to flash not only Paranoid ROM.

no need to wipe anything when flashing kernels. wiping dalvik before flashing kernels is the same as washing your feet before flashing a kernel, one has nothing to do with the other.

Most Stable ROM...

I know this is another one of those very opinionated threads, but this isn't for MY phone. I rooted my friends Fascinate over a year ago and flashed a ROM for him. It did really well for a long time, but just recently his phone started getting really buggy and slow. Just wondering what you guys recommend for a really nice stable, but quick ROM?
Also...bit off topic, but are there any good Audio Mods for the fascinate..?
Any of the ones on the main page of the development section are quality Roms some may have a quirk or two but generally nothing that can't have a workaround,,
you just really have to embrace what jellybean is and what the developers have done for us
Which is give us the very latest/best android is offering right now that that runs on a package 3+ yrs old
Also spend some time and just read their main page and last page or two to see what they are all about...
Each one will require some degree of personalization to make it fit your/friends style/needs
With that said here are the main ones:::
:: CM10.1 nightly::
::BAKED blackbean-7:: Thread Link
:: AOKP PUB :: Thread Link
:: CM10.1 JELLYBRO (makelegs_Euroskank ) :: Thread Link
:: ParanoidAndroid 2.99 & AOSPA 3+ 3.00 :: Thread Link

Dam they got Jelly Bean running on the Fascinate?? I had a Fascinate way back in the day before I got a Thunderbolt...couldn't even get Jelly Bean on that haha...now I have a Nexus...like I said this is for my friend. I running PA on my nexus and LOVE it so maybe I will try that on his phone, but thanks for the suggestions!
Oh...what recovery do you recommend? Do you have to use ODIN at all...I don't have it setup on my computer and I remember it being a pain in the ass to setup and use
The new PA is an awesome choice
For guidance
The form holds the answers...
Particular this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho... Rom/CWM recovery/Root or going back to Stock
Look for a kernel thread too

Well he is already rooted with a custom ROM so I am guessing I don't have to use all those steps again...I can just go into recovery, wipe and flash
Depends on what rom he is on...
Section 4 deals with foolproof way to go odin to jb,,, with links and all...just have to follow very closely

Ahh...well he is on an ICS ROM...I will just go the ODIN way I suppose
Last part of section 4...
*For those currently on a ICS rom and want to upgrade to a Jellybean rom or vise versa. Just download the rom of choice to sd, boot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset, then flash rom...should be no need to go all the way back to stock unless your having alot of issues with force closes and what not.
Only thing to add is you'll need to flash the ROM 2-3 times because of a new partition layout...
Don't do anything extra... And it should work fine

So keep flashing it over in recovery 2-3 times??
Any recommendations on a good recovery for him?
I highly recommend CM 10.1, although I had a weird issue lately where no matter what performance settings I was using my music would skip around every 10 min or so, but I'm sure jt will find a fix for it eventually. If you don't constantly play music on your phone like I do then you probably wouldn't mind that little gripe. I've been on Helly Bean now for a few days with no problems, which is basically CM 10.1 with a few extras and Devil Kernel baked in. I know Paranoid is a really good rom, but I haven't tried it myself. We're lucky enough to have great developers that all make excellent roms so just take your pick of the popular ones and have at it

He just means it will abort the flash to warn you that your phone is being switched to the new partition layout and you will lose all your data... it's just a formality and nothing to worry about. All you need to do is flash again after the warning and it'll do it for real

Oh and as far as audio mods, there are a few out there (Acid mod I think?) but if you use CM 10.1 it will come with DSP manager which lets you tweak it a bit, but personally I just use Power Amp and the EQ on that is just phenomenal and I don't even feel like I need anything else because of how good it works.
Alright thanks guys! Just trying to figure out what recovery to upgrade to...maybe TWRP?
Yes it will pop up and say error 7 or warning, but just go ahead and chose reinstall the same zip file again... And it will give error again, so repeat... After the 3rd time,,,, then reboot
The cwm recovery is built in
The hellybean roms have their own with some extra options,,, plus if you want to flash their kernel,,, there is a thread with the info

If you want to use TWRP then go to this thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2133358 but as hhp already pointed out, each rom comes bundled with it's own recovery so the only time you need to really flash your own is if you're coming from stock and flash CMW4 fixed for CM7

Ohh...weird...its been so long since I had a Fascinate and my TB and Nexus aren't that way haha. Thanks for all your help. I may just flash back to stock using Step 4 and then put PA on or something. His phone is pretty dam buggy, lots of force closes, or permission errors so I figure I will try to get it as cleaned up as possible
if lack of activity is any indicator(as in not too much complaints) then I just want to cast a vote for JellyBro. I am now on 2-25-13 version and its been pretty smooth and solid for me thus far.
it;s working well enough that I was considering setting up a device for my mom(who defintely doesn't have the patience for stuff that doesn;t work).
I use GeeWiz 2.8.1... it has Voodoo audio, and is super fast and smooth. Along with the KGB FA16 Kernel... All of which can be found in my sig including the theme.
I've tried dozens of mtds e.g ICS, JB, etc. and even GeeWiz 4.2... but the GW 2.8.1 is the most stable and fastest. You can also go with 2.9 from the main GeeWiz 2 thread. Even though it's Gingerbread... it's up there with all the newer roms for speed and dare I say even more stable than most newer Roms. AND.. Everything works... unlike a lot of the newer JB roms out there.
Hope that helps.

Just quick question JJ, is there anything special has to be done to flash back to that GB ROM , from a 4.2.2 ROM ?

from what I remember, your going to have to ODIN back to the stock EH03 then up to geewiz , this is because both of partitioning and recovery differences.
.
You don't have to Odin back to stock. The link in my dropbox is a full wipe odin... it's just like going back to stock but not. Just odin the tar and you're good to go. Full eh03 support.
