Do you know from experience/confirmation that it will work on 2.3.5, or are you just suggesting someone to try it?
Dude... just stick with what works.
Pete's one click worked for me on my dx2
I suggest you do as infazzz suggested go over to dx2 forums. After root install dx2 recovery. DO NOT use koushes bootstrap from market.
Hope that helps

Can 100% confirm this works. Was on fresh 2.3.5 stock, ran self extracting and then installed eclipse no problems.

HTC devices don't use sbf, it's a Moto thing. Check in the Aria forum.

No you have to use one of the methods in the link on the second post. The D1 way won't work for the D2 Moto changed stuff so rooting is harder.

I am very new to using clockwork but I have installed the clockwork mod on my droid x and I installed a new theme. I decided that I hated the theme because it removed all of my apps, removed swype, and does so much less than the stock droid x. I tried installing another theme with clockwork but all the themes I tryed kept freezing on INSTALLING UPDATES. I just want to get my old droid x back. The way it was before clockwork. I didn't back up the stock version and I'm hearing from people that if I unroot my droid it will brick my phone since I don't have a backup. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!!!
There are 8 billion threads on how to revert to stock.

So maderstock, if you do a data/cache wipe first, will get you from any custom rom back to oem where you can accept ota updates again?
So I could use this to go from cm7 back to stock if I want to sell the phone?
I just bought a used DX and am still reading.

I wouldn't recommend this method. Google SBFing and go that route.

Hi everyone I have a rooted evo and I've rooted and unrooted a couple times and I am very compfortable with flashing roms because I do it all the time. My boss has a milestone x and she wants me to root it for her. I was wondering if someone could give me a list of roms that are stable and work well on milestone x also hotspot working! Also is there an amonra recovery I can put on. If anyone has the files I will need to root that would be great. On my Evo I just unrevoke then flash amonra and a Rom and its in business. Is there a big change on how to root this? Thanks a lot Droidxers I really appreciate it!

I rooted mine using SuperOneClick root and it worked easily!
As for a working ROM I have read that it is a long process to make Droid X ROM's work with our APN's and it is possible to get stuck with Verizon's network so I haven't even tried it.
What I have done that has made the experience much different is install some apps and script's that 180'ed the stock ROM and make it feel like a completely different device.
Well this is what I did, I searched gingerbreak on 4shared . Com website, downloaded, open it, then press root. The root is successful when it turns off, if it doesn't work redownload another apk..
For the CMW recovory..I searched droid x bootstrapper, again on 4 shared..pressed bootstrap recovery, then reboot recovery.
Far as custom roms go its not many that work on Milestone X, Liberty 2.0.1 does with no tweakin..
Miui and Cm7 works with a script kernel tweak seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?nomobile=1&v=vxZ7cBt2K-Q you just have to delete the Verizon kernel script with notepad and save the changes..the exact tutorial is under "show more" under the video..that should work

You have to manually remove Superuser.apk from /system/app/ before you can root again.

when you say 'latest gingerbread' do you mean 2.3.5?
i have a rooted x on 2.2.2, and i want to apply the 2.3.5 update, but i am scared that it will break my root, if i understand correctly i can apply the update then adb shell to remove su and superuser then re-root using pete's? is that correct?
i rooted originally with superoneclick 1.9.1

Odd, I haven't come across an unrootable build for the Droid X.
Also, are you sure 2.3.5 is correct the latest version of Gingerbread for a stock Droid X is 2.3.3.
