[Q] - Omnia II General

how make dual OS....?

It depends on what hardware and what platform your phone is based on. But the general rule is this:
1. Take a phone you intend to use often.
2. Take another phone that has an OS that you intend to dual-boot with.
3. Get a case for each phone.
4. Glue the backs of the cases together, like so: ][
5. Put each phone in their respective case.
6. Congratulations, that's how make dual OS.

I actually started to write this but then just realized that a) I'm no longer a coder. b) I don't have the time. and c) there are probably a dozen people out there that can do this better than I can. I'd rather make a donation to someone that has a longer attention span than I do.
So, here is the idea....
Utilizing 3 different readouts:
1. Device orientation (http://www.koushikdutta.com/2008/07/using-htc-touch-diamond-sensor-sdk-from.html) Thanks Koush!
2. Light sensor changes (http://www.koushikdutta.com/2008/07/htc-light-sensor-sdk.html) Thanks Koush!
3. Active call (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.windowsmobile.status.systemstate_members.aspx)
One could write a utility that locked the screen when you placed the phone to your ear during a call and unlocked it when you pulled it away to enter digits, etc.
It's a pretty simple feature that if done right would make using the phone a lot easier and all the hardware components exist to support it.
Right now my Fuze locks the screen when I connect and for some reason only unlocks when I don't need to use the touchpad and I push the right combination of buttons in the right order. Very annoying.

my experience with the tattoo Vs Jade(Winmo)

hi
i just got my tattoo and having been a Wimno and HTC user for around 2 yrs i thought it would be easy moving to android but its not so
just wanted to share my experience
the difference i see between my jade and tattoo are
interms of specs both are more or less the same
1. installing aps on the jade is easy just get the cab double click and the phone asks were to install and its done
but on the tatto this seems to be a big process i need to connect the phone to pc and use the installer this i did not like
2.but the touch screen is much much more smoother on the tattoo than on the jade
in terms of looks guys the jade looks much better that the tattoo ie the jade is much more sleek than the tattoo the tatto seems to be bulkier as per my experience
3. rooting i still dont understand i thing it will take me a lot of time its called HSPL on the winmo and i did it on the 2nd day of buying my jade its just one file run it on ur phone via sync 10 mins and its done ur ready to flash any rom u want and i have flashed 50+ roms on my jade till date (see my sign ull understand )
but here im kind sacred as i dont seem to understand the gold card and rooting etc.
and sorry to say this no offense intended but in the jade forum their are many many guys who came to help when(i help a lot of people too even now) asked for but here i can only count 3 guys who are very helpful and guided me thanks again to them
i am thrilled at having the tattoo but some how feel that i did a good thing on not disposing my jade i feel that Winmo and android are a different experiences and u cant really compare the two
Well, you must take into account that most of the good folks are considering to buy another phone because of HTC's crappy support...did I say crappy? Sorry, that should have been "inexistant Support"!!! Really, I like my phone, but I never expected Bluetooth to not work (referring to file transfer) or having a camera where it's claimed to have Autofocus and then taking crappy pictures when trying to scan barcodes and such...man was I disappointed...
But it's fun trying to port ROMs or configuring options which normally aren't configurable (root makes it possible )...
BTW: Rooting is needed to flash custom ROMs in the end...the procedure is rather simple:
1. Root the phone
2. Get an image file for recovery and flash it via a binary called "flash_image" (somewhere in the forum)
3. Put a custom ROM onto your SD card (in form of an update.zip)
4. Boot into recovery, make a nandroid backup (this backups almost every partition on your phone)
5. Flash the update.zip and reboot
When you'll do this more and more times this gets pretty easy (steps 1 and 2 have to be done only once)
Greets
P.S.: To be honest, if I should succeed to sell my old phone, I'll sell also my tattoo to get a Nexus One - as far as I can see Google will develop OS updates on this phone, so there will be never issues with the f***ing HTC corp. anymore...

HD2 - WP7 / SD Android Advice

Hello guys , Been a member here and a browser here for a fair while. And once again iv'e come to grab some advice from the guru's on site. My questions are.
1) Decent WP7 Rom , With Chevron ETC Built in. Im currently using XBMoD's WP7 but im having FAR to many troubles with it its unreal. One being when i ring my bank or anything with 'Key Input' it fails to recognise the keys i press. And i end up having to Remove the battery to turn it off. Cause the Phone sits on 'Ending call' for as long as its on i left it 45 minutes and it didnt end once.
2) Compatible DUAL BOOT Android Build that goes side by side with WP7 , Without to many hickups.
3) What size SD Card is most viable for Dual Booting? Im guessing something on the 4GB+ Side. I only have a 2gb one atm and im doubting that has enough space to work with.
I LOVE having WP7 as my Daily OS. But as i use my phone for ALL internet banking etc this problem is becoming a huge issue. Ive seen many new builds on the forums but im Nervous of testing , As i dont want to flash my phone to many times.
1. I can not give any feed back on a WP7 ROMs cause I have never tried any of them. Sorry!
2. I can give you feed back on a Android SD card build. A lot of people on here that dual boot WP7 and Android use American Android, plus it is made to use with MAGLDR. Read the quote below from post #ยน of the thread.
BOOTSDfromMAGLDR: includes optional rootfs.img that allows to boot build from magldr (!readme! in /sdcard/Android/SDMAGLDR)

3. You are correct about your asumption on the SD card. I would definitely suggest a 4 gig or higher SD card. Actually I would go with a 8 gig or higher if it was me, bit that is just me.
Hope this hels some.

[Q] Thinking about getting one for the cool factor of it, and questions

1: Since I'm coming from android: "Liberate"?
2: I'm guessing the above somehow allows me to disable the SnapVUE bit, and run Vista/etc in both tablet and PDA modes, well, am I correct?
it's always the same - why don't people read before posting?
But to show i'm a good guy:
1.: "Liberate" means to enable a connection between PC/Vista device and SnapVue/WiMo device inside Shift.
2.: You can run Ubuntu, Android or different copies of Windows on PC side, but SnapVue is stuck to WiMo6
due to hardware specifications.
2.b: it is possible to access programmes on PC side from SnapVue, but for this PC part is to be running
which will drain your battery pretty fast.
If you'd like to know more about Shift- it's all written down here in different fora- enjoy your search

Broken phone (two into one)

I purchased a Note 3 at a general auction of undeliverable post office items. I mention this only because some might wonder what I am doing with a phone locked by a PIN. It is legally mine, but I have no desire for the information on the phone...I only would like to use the phone. The phone appears to be fully functional, but it is locked at the PIN screen...however, I am able to boot it up, use the camera and know that the screen is functioning, that the audio appears intact, etc. For all intents and purposes, the phone is good to go but for the locked by PIN.
I see two possibilities to use this phone...either use it for parts from a broken second phone (say, has a broken screen) and so to use two broken phones to make one whole phone...OR, to buy a second phone and take parts from it, to replace whatever "holds" the PIN and data information on this phone (again, taking two broken phones and forming 1 whole phone). I would assume if I can get a replacement motherboard from a donor phone, that this might work to make one good phone from two "broken" phones. If not motherboard, then what part does hold the data and PIN information (I have no desire for this info...just need to know what part to toss).
I am sure there will be some who will feel that I am trying to take advantage of the original owner...if there were a way to figure out how to get it back to that owner, I would be happy to do so. This is simply one of those things that somehow happened within the post office system...and they then auction the lost/undeliverable property to the general population. Anyway, that is how I got the phone and would simply like to try to make use of my purchase.
So, can anyone tell me if there is a single item that contains the data and PIN that I could toss from this phone if I can get the same part from another...if so, what part exactly has this info? Or, alternatively, if I were to buy a phone that has a broken screen, how hard is it to move my screen (which appears to be functioning perfectly), to that phone? I see broken phones being sold all the time on eBay for a reasonable price...perhaps that would be my best option.
Factory reset the phone. From power off...hold home, volume up and power button to get to recovery and select factory reset

What great advice...couldn't have been more on the mark. Old data gone, and now I have a phone (well, android device as i don't plan to use it as a phone...just to run some android apps (my regular phone is from the dark side (iOS)). Thank you so very much.
Glad I could assist
