Hey guys - I have a few quick questions:
I currently have a T8585 HD2 with Android 2.2 + HTC Sense on it. Viber doesn't work on it, sadly, and Android with Sense takes WAY too much of my NAND memory.
If I install WP7 or WP Mango can I:
1) Use viber non-problematically and make calls though HSDPA (3.5G)?
2) Install viber without actually registering my HD2 in order to use the marketplace?
3) (This isn't really related, but) Assign the green call key to something different from the camera (maybe disable it)?
2. yes you can... deploying (installing) xap file to phone but without Live ID your contacts not be synced and saved to Live account
3. yes... many ROM's already have tools for changing key bindings or install LEO Advanced xap with this tools
Viber?
And what about Viber? I'm sure there has to be SOMEONE on this forum who has tried it out...
Viber for now is in beta and doesnt support calls but only messages

Oh... thanks for that... I didn't really know it. I guess I'll still check out WP7 for the fun of it, but I'm probably going to make my primary OS Android 4.
I have just installed and used Viber on WP7.5, XBmod, to answer your questions:
1. Viber is in beta on WP7 and is therefor not supporting calls, but the installation, message and auto sync contacts work as it should. Viber Team has said that they are "working hard on it" to get call-function available on WP7.
2. Yes just use third part XAP-installer like this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908293
I was used to find and install free apps via phone7market before I got my activation code. Just quick and easy. I didn't install Viber via Phone7market but it should work without problem, I think.
3. Yes and not complicated to change it. The WP7 custom Rom threads shall have a guide on how to. With XBmod I shall just install a cab.
Hi,
I'm an official representative of Viber.
Your device doesn't seem to be compatible with Viber, here's a list of devices we tested:
http://helpme.viber.com/index.php?/...oid-compatible-with-viber-system-requirements
Calls are not available yet on WP7 so you should be able to only text message if you decide to switch an OS. You will still have to go to the Marketplace to download the app.
We should make voice calls available for WP7 and Blackberry in the next few months so please stay tuned.
If you have more question for Viber feel free to ask, you can do that also via our Facebook and Twitter.
Thanks,
Viber Team

Ok, I am a big fan of windows mobile. I have used most such as BlackBerry, Palm, Symbian... There's only one piece of software I cannot seem to find for WinMobile. I would like to find something to make text messaging similar to the Treo or BlackBerry. Treat text messaging like instant messaging. Does anyone know of software that gives Windows Mobile the capability of this?

Old news
Search (hard) for "Palm messaging".

In searching for Palm Messaging I came across SMS Threader. It's awesome.
Thanks

Maybe you didn't have to search quite THAT hard : )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280256
By hard, I meant, accounting for the fact that the cabs have now been removed. But they're still available in various places....

yup yup
just funning with him
Ok.. found This as well
Palm Threaded SMS Application for WM5
http://ppcgeeks.com/threaded-sms-is-working-update-10-29-t978.html
this one's from O2SMSPlus
Is that O2 SMS Plus available to the public? Couldn't find it to download....
The Threader looks great, but i didn't want to install the CF 2.0 if possible...
By using these programs you don't get charged for text messages?
no, it's just a better way to text. these are still sending SMS's, if i am correct.
I try to install the SMS threader "to device", and get the error: cannot be installed..
HELP
did you install the .NET Compact framework 2.0 first?
You can download it here
It looks like this program needs this to run, which is too bad b/c i am told that takes up a lot of memory
I guess it cant be installed to storage?
Is it worth it to run this chat program....?
Thanks

CF2 is required by a lot of other apps as well; see for example http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/in...n_of_net_compact_framewo&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 for an almost complete list of the best CF2-dependent titles.
It wont let me install// I dont have free 24mgb internal program memory...
Having trouble installing Resco or Total commander also?
Thanks
NET CF 2.0 stinks. Too slow to load, etc. Maybe with AKU 3.2 it will be faster since it will be native, who knows.
The Palm app BLOWS all the other apps out of the water. Not even close. I hope you find the .cab, its worth it.
The Palm one dosnt require .NET Compact framework 2.0 ???
Anyone know where I can get the CAB?
i dont see or have any issues with netcfV2.0 yes its large, like 2meg, but i run programs that depend on it such as wififofum and hitchhiker, etc... i can choose the cab to install to my storage card and dont have any issues running the said programs.
and i do agree.. search very hard for the palm messaging app, this is one of my must install programs!! its fantastic!
Does anyone know of a grand central dialer program for windows mobile? The idea being that if you place voip calls from grand central, you can get free calls.
Let's say you have your mobile, a gizmo project account, and a grand central account. Placing outbound calls from your gizmo account (via a SIP application on your phone) will incur charges. However, if you add your gizmo account as a phone number on your grand central profile, and place a call from grand central, it makes outbound calls to both the number you are calling from, and once connected, to the number you're calling out to.
I hope that makes sense.
I have found such a thing for nokia phones here: http://www.internettablettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18802
But couldn't come up with anything for windows mobile. Seems like it wouldn't be a difficult app to write, and could give us all free voip outbound calls.
I have also been looking like crazy for one, it's very annoying to keep going to M.grandcentral.com to dial anybody, even though I set it as my home page...
could somebody make a dialer for Windows mobile,, pleazzzee
I'm really really in need of one of these. Wish someone would release something!
Heck, I wish they would re-open the ability to import contacts. I am sure this wouldn't be hard to do, as all the information is right at their mobile page.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge. Although I was more excited about the iPhone than your average person, I still haven't found any reason to switch over.
Sure the iPhone does everything it does BETTER than Windows Mobile, but it just doesn't do as much stuff. Besides that, every 3g iPhone I've played with is less stable than my old Palm - and that's saying something. Windows Mobile wins in a few areas - namely versatility and stability.
Besides that, the 3g iPhone is a generation ahead of any windows mobile phone right now. We're just going to have to wait a year before we start seeing a real competitor. Windows Mobile 7, anyone?
That said - I'd like someone to create that EXACT app for windows mobile. I dialer that integrates contacts. Something I can map my phone button to.
PLEASE!
The PERl Script that Grand dialer is based on
Hopefully someone else (As I am not a app author yet) may be able to do something with this:
http://groups.google.com/group/grandcentral-help-poweruser/browse_thread/thread/977c8c295edcf2e1
This is the Perl App that the Grand dialer app is based on. basically it married a dialer interface with the mentioned perl script to make the connection to Grand central. I am still reading and trying to understand the script, however there are many here much better at this then I. Hopefully someone can take this info and run.

I'm willing to offer any needed graphic services if a programmer could become interested.

I'm interested in doing this, and also integrating with iContact.
I'd like a grand central invite if they are even still allowing it . Then I would be interested in this also, lol.
I've started a dialer, iDialer.
Please see this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=429984
Maybe you can create an application that is seperate from any dialer, many people like to keep their dialers.

Plus on custom roms, there are plenty of issues and development has stopped on wm

I wanted to introduce only one programme to you.
This Messenger is what I looked for, its simple have all features I need, and it does his work...
I used Fring, Palringo but this are programs for trash, Palringo have every 5-10 minutes reconnect problems, and Fring look cheap...
I didn't know what your problem with these software is...
its nice but it sucks at the same time bcuz you cant send files thats my problem
is this app free or is it a trial?
Free... I used it about 1 Month and it run fine...
ok great. I know it costs $15 for the iPhone though.
is there any similar program that kills less battery? If i leave this on, it drains my battery in about 4-5hrs in my att fuze
This is the same version I posted on samsung-omnia.org for my old Omnia i910. It works great on my Touch Pro2 as well, so I thought I'd share it here.
I don't recall who originally packed the cab. I only take credit for weeding through all of the WLM versions available back when I had my Omnia to find a fully working version, and for finding that it works on the TP2.
I've tested this on my own Touch Pro 2 (details below, and in the screenshots) to find that all functions work properly. I have not tried this out on the GSM version. If someone would please try this on the following versions and PM me the results, I will add the details to the original post;
Sprint (CDMA)
Telus (CDMA)
TMobile (GSM)
Other (Please specify)
My ROM: WM Pro 6.1 (CE OS 5.2.21052 / Build 21052.1.6.5)
Carrier: Verizon Wireless (CDMA)
WLM Version: 10.6.0034.0800
Make sure you install this to your main memory, not 'My Storage' and not a MicroSD card.. the .dll's are mapped to work as if the application is installed in the main system memory, so you'll run into problems if you ignore this tip.
Also, this version does allow you to disable the contact syncing into your phonebook. It will ask you at the first startup/sign in, or you can change it in the options menu of the application while it's running.
If you sync your Windows Live contacts into your phonebook/phone contact list, do not manually delete them from there!! Simply run Windows Live Messenger -> Select Menu -> Windows Live -> Uncheck 'Store Windows Live Contacts in your mobile phone's contact list' -> Click 'DONE' -> Click 'Done' again -> Click 'Messenger' to get back to messenger.

My phone didn't come with Windows Live Mobile, and the version I downloaded previously from Microsoft did not come with a real messenger, it came with a link to the web-based (WAP) version. I just downloaded another version from wl.windowsmobile.com that does have the messenger.
Terribly sorry, but this was a highly sought after item for the Omnia i910 and when I downloaded the first version from Microsoft that had no working Messenger, I tried this one I posted on samsung-omnia.org awhile back to find it was working for the TP2 and it has the Messenger. By posting it here I was merely trying to help others out, because I didn't originally find the version you guys are using that has the Messenger.
If you don't want to use it, that's fine.. let it disappear into the abyss of threads.

.mak, where did you download your "first version from Microsoft"? Did you download it from here: http://mobile.microsoft.com/live/en-us/mobile/default.mspx?
My verizon phone came with the same link to the wap version of messenger and I will be using this because it looks like it is better than the old pocket msn that I downloaded to have a messenger application.
Before in 6.1 Windows live was like Google Maps
Tell us where we are & find shops around u on map
now it has Added Mesgr or its just messenger now ?

Does anyone else have the problem with the Live Mobile app when they set the schedule to "as they arrive"? I noticed when I set this the app does not synchronize very often. I had to just revert back to the 15 minute sync schedule.
Just incase anybody have missed this... A new Windows Live package is available... I've installed it and I'm very impressed... I can even see Facebook status messages in the new "Windows Live Home"

Still don't know why they didn't give you an option to use your camera as webcam within the mobile msn version ...
Will it ever be available ? Or are there other options to achieve this ?
so does Messenger support MPOP yet?
This is very good. Note that you have to reset device after installing but it doesn't tell you to. Error messages on launch otherwise - "this is not a valid app"
Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed... blabla message (HyperDragon IV newest kaiser rom xD)

Lets see if the big Achilles' Heel is still there.
Pleeeeeeease tell me limit to 50 most recent messages has been fixed? if not totally kills its utility, what a shame. Hope they finally fixed this. Don’t even get me started on how great touch flo 3d grouping emails by contact is, except it can’t read other folders but inbox. No worries I'll just move everything to inbox. Dooh!.., only 50 to sort among all my contacts. What about wm6 great type & sort feature in pocket outlook inbox?, also rendered useless. Local search only, …yep still stuck at 50 most recent. So do the math, I have 50 messages to split between my whole phonebook, the majority of emails won’t even show up in tf3d for most of the contacts. Option,.. delete all contacts except 50 and pray no one sends me more than one email, silly right?
Why should a hotmail user not switch to any of the compets, if you can’t even get access to all you mail without the major inconvenience of launching a web browser? So now, just to work with mail I have to work in 2 apps? Hotmail Pop3 route is no better, zero folder sync with online, even at ground level no sent, or deleted items sync. Might as well be a seperate email account.
Really... POOM guys, whoever came up with that one, do yourselves a favor, send 'em to google or apple.
I really... hope after making such a big stink, I get to be all embarrassed and wrong.
how do you see facebook statuses?
