FOR DEVS
[For DEV] Samsung Galaxy S I9070 Advance kernel & platform source code
Before starting... (Read please)
- For those people wondering if it's possible to flash i9000 (Galaxy S) ROMs on the i9070 (Galaxy S Advance) the answer is NO. You CAN BRICK your phone. I'm NOT responsible of your actions.
- Don't use android sdk. use Odin tool with Kies installed.
- Samsung device drivers comes in Kies PC software. So Odin requires Kies to detect Samsung devices.
- Odin doesn't exist for Linux. Use Heimdall instead.
- You can't get in bootloader using Android SDK (an `adb reboot bootloader` just does a normal reboot).
- 'wipe data/factory reset' wipes only /data partition
- stock recovery usually performs signature verification for every zip-package you try to install. if the package is not signed by Samsung, then it will not be applied. you need a custom recovery to install zips with no restrictions.
- I don't have this phone, yet (I should buy it in weeks). So don't believe me without questioning. If I'm wrong, correction is welcome.
- A backup is always a good thing.

Hello everyone, I'm new here (trying to not be a n00b) I just purchased this phone and it's my first Android device, I like to learn how to do this sort of customization (I did with my PSP) so I read all I can before starting, to prevent messing my device. I think this post must be my start point, so thanks and let's begin.

Well, I read about flashing, the TWRP ,the binary counter u.u, cutom ROMs, Odin, drivers, well, almost everything on this index and finally I decided to flash my device and I did it sucesfully with JetMOD, which looks pretty nice.
Yeah, I decided to purchase this device cause it was on my possibilities and it have nice specs, just wish that the update to Jelly Bean comes soon, and of course I'll be checking for new CRs
On the other hand, I'm studying Systems engineering, I don't think I'll do something on custom ROMs but I really want to develop Andoid apps.
I don't have any doubts right now, maybe on the future I'll have but before posting something I use to search everywhere, so cya
Full Format your S Advance
People, is there any way i can format my full phone, including the internal memory wipe, everything, and then installing a new stock firmware with odin mode??
I gave it a day researching about it, and found that using Fastboot i can wipe out everyhting with the fast boot command lines :
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot erase cache
And so i installed the android SDK, adb and fastboot for it...everything was set, in cmd.exe, i typed adb devices and my device was found, and then doing a few adb command test i was sure about adb, but when i typed fastboot devices, nothing happened, no response..seemed like my device is not responding to fastboot
then i searched a bit on fastboot, and found out that it works in bootloader mode, if security is unsecure/unlocked (this i found it for nexus)..also tried the command adb reboot bootloader, but it just reboots my phone nothing new.
So im stuck at this point..!!
Please help me, PM me, Mail me anything...i want to know if im going in the right direction, if not, please guide me i'll be thankful!!!
PS: No issue if the warranty gets void, android is a open source platform unlike iOS, so it should be enjoyed to the fullest!!!
PSS: i may not know about command language or linux commanding, but im not a noob, and internet has a lot to give...also i learn quickly!!!:good:
USB OTG
is there a way that our phone can support OTG/ USB HOST, because even sony xperia go does support OTG (gsm arena says so, i have not personally seen/tested it)

I've searched a lot in the internet but I didn't find any videos about this yet... Its odd that no one made a Rooting video on this great mid-range phone....

Well I think this is the easier way (just for Windows), first you must go here -> http://www.samsung.com/mx/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/JSP and download Kies, this is for the drivers of your phone that you will need.
Now you must install it with your phone connected, but before you must update your java cause it can have troubles if you don't do so. When it finish you may reboot your pc and after reboot you must stop Kies services (on taskmanager), then download ODIN http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703998 and follow this video (to enter in download mode you mjust press Vol down + home button + power at the same time):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gqp69v68WVU
Is the same but with this kernel/firmware http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1873119
Now select your favorite ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1945806 and install as in this video (go to min 3:00 and the keys are Vol up + home button + power):

Finally, enjoy

AFAIK Galaxy S Advance doesn't support otg. otg isn't just a matter of sw support (kernel has to support it) but also hw, a specific chip is needed.
anyway if i find sth new, i'll update the 1st post.

PSS: i may not know about command language or linux commanding, but im not a noob, and internet has a lot to give...also i learn quickly!!!:good:

did you tried 'back to stock' in this index?
if you want to wipe everything you can do it via TWRP recovery (flashed via fastboot) and then using odin to flash stock fw and the rest.
not sure it odin flashes a blank device.
We dont have fastboot???

As far as I know this is the work of scritch and you are posting it here while scritch already has the thread about it
You better request Moderator to delete this
Both of the link of cm10 and kernel is from scritch so.....
Any moderators here, original-ganjaman or colossus...

Hey buddy did you ask the creator of this for permission first? and also it would be better to post this in the General section because these guys will eat you alive for making mistakes like this anyway ask this guy by way of message:"original_ganjaman" to move or delete it IF you did not have permission to do this.
Reported this bulls**t.
okk i think there is a little prejudice here but, lets hear what the op has to say before shooting it down.
maybe this is A thread to combine all three?
nobody will know and if we become an ass right off the bat we might have just lost a potential developer for our device.
guys, please try to be patient. i believe that most of us here would really want to see cm 10running on x10

I want to think you are of good faith, if only the camera fix was not linking to my github repo but to a real camera fix, this thread would be ok.
You should have made links to my thread instead of linking hardcoded kernel and rom version, since (I hope) this will change quickly.
this is just a thread about a rom a few threads below.
reported this one!!!
also no credits added
How i can remove a thanks??

This theme was created to discuss the errors arising from the three developers of Jelly Bean. Here we will share our patches to fix bugs, and parse user errors to install the OS.
then you need to make one in general not in development.
and add CREDITS

OP, this thread is all wrong. You start it by saying you wish to start a discussion about CM10 development, then go on by posting other users work with no credits, or even a explanation why its here to begin with Discussions do not belong in the development section, adding other peoples work does not make it development. Now stop with these useless posts!
Hi,
I am planning to install the shining new 4.4.2 build (OmniROM unofficial) on my US Acer A500. I have an (*gasp*, *laugh*) unrooted stock ICS (4.0.3, Kernel: 2.6.39.4+, Build: Acer_AV041_A500_1.033.00_PA_CUS1), which I want to upgrade to this OmniROM build. So far, reading the thread, this looks like the installation dependency tree:
[ -> : Depends on]
OmniROM (4.4.2) -> CWM 6.0.4.5 -> skrilax bootloader (V8) -> nvflash
Can anyone comment on if my understanding of the dependency tree correct? Should nvflash be my starting point for installation?
Any other notes/pointers?
Regards.

Hi,
meanwhile i upgraded the bootloader to Skrillax V.9. I think that's the lastest version and it works without problems for me.
Bye,
Florian
Hi Florian,
Thanks for your reply - using Google Translate, I could get the gist of it. Very helpful.
Have you also upgraded to 4.4.2 so far? What version are you running now?
Regards.

I just upgraded to 4.4.2 (build 4 20140426).
I already have installed Skrillax V9 bootloader
I downloaded from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705989
* CWM 6.0.4.5
** installing with fastboot.
** install drivers on PC
** install fastboot
** Connect tablet to PC and install CWM
* Build4-ROM-Image
** Boot to CWM
** Factory-reset
** put zip-file on sdcard and install it from CWM
** put Super-SU-zip on sdcard and install it directly after ROM-zip
** then reboot
It seems to work very well.

That sounds about right. I would recommend blackthund3r's tool though which makes installing the bootloader a bit easier. You'll also need fastboot to load the recovery into the secondary partition as the normal recovery partition is to small.
ZTE officially updated the ZTE Open to 1.1 and abandoned it.
To manually update it to the latest and greatest, follow these simple steps:
Grab a copy of Ubuntu 12.04, and install basic pre-requisites:
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox_OS/Firefox_OS_build_prerequisites
You can follow this for a basic build environment http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2634107
clone the b2g repository:
Code:
git clone git://github.com/mozilla-b2g/B2G.git
now if you want to build 1.2 run
Code:
cd B2G
BRANCH=v1.2 VARIANT=user ./config.sh inari
Wait for it to build.
when it finishes run
Code:
./build.sh gecko
This will build only gecko at the 1.2 version
to flash run
Code:
./flash.sh gecko
this will update gecko to the version you chose, we now need to update gaia to the same version
run
Code:
cd gaia
MOZILLA_OFFICIAL=1 make production
This will leave you with the ZTE 1.1 stock rom, with a gonk 1.1 HAL base, but with the final version 1.2 Gecko and the final version of 1.2 Gaia.
1.3 upwards need a Jellybean base and we do not even have the true kernel source for the zte open, so this is the furthest stable rom you can get with the ICS based stock rom ZTE have given us.
You can build 1.3, 1.4, 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 gecko using the above method, but I find it very unstable and broken, due to the Gonk HAL being so out of date.
When flashing the Gaia layer to the ZTE Open use "MOZILLA_OFFICIAL=1 make production" instead of "make reset-gaia"
Doing this updates the Gaia layer as normal but with the official Firefox OS branding (thanks to the MOZILLA_OFFICIAL=1). This means the browser will have the Firefox logo and so will the logon and log off boot screens. More importantly, the "make production" command will make the build you create be optimised as if it was official. This means offline caching of applications. "make production" also does not add any testing apps to your phone, so it is as if the build you are using is official.
The code again is "MOZILLA_OFFICIAL=1 make production" and it should be used where "make reset-gaia" is in this post :good:
What's the difference between "VARIANT=user" and "VARIANT=userdebug"?

The valid build types are:
eng – this variant will have some development tools and predefined settings that developers need (e.g. USB debugging enabled).
user – this is the variant for a product that suppose to go out to the users. Will use only modules that the end-user will need and more restricted settings.
userdebug – A combination of the user and eng variants. It’s intended for users testing your environment, but not developing it.
