Improve battery life! (must be root and rw system) - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Hey guys, I recently found out about this article, which may come in handy if you want to increase your battery life.

Inspired by the guide from this thread, I made a small (tiny) guide that might be helpful to others. The purpose is to change the delay in time after which WiFi will be turned off after the screen turns off, which is by default 15 minutes, that is if the Wifi sleep policy is set to "After 15 Min".
1- Get the file "settings.db" from /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/ using any approriate method, I used ES Explorer & copied to SD card.
2- On the PC, using Sqlite3Explorer open the "settings.db" file. (make sure you also have the dll file).
3- Right click on secure folders & choose 'Show Data'
4- Click on the green plus icon "Insert Record"
5- On the new (empty) column, Double click on name column & insert "wifi_idle_ms", then click update - and Double click on value column and insert the time for wifi to turn off in miliseconds. (60000 for 60 seconds, etc.) (click update on the screen were data was entered)
6- Click on the "Update" button to save changes.
7- Right click on the secure folder again & choose 'show data', to ensure that the new column has been added at the bottom.
8- Go to File and select "Close Database"
9- Take the modified "settings.db" file & copy it back to your SD card then to the same original forder, overwriting the original one.
*** Always backup***

I used ES File explorer to copy/paste to/from my laptop on the same network and it worked nicely! A reboot is required for the changes to take effect. Make sure you follow the steps in the post EXACLTY!
I find myself picking up the phone once every half an hour or so just to play a game or to check on stuff - this means I'm picking up the phone at least 10 times a day while I'm connected to wifi at home - this means that each time it goes to sleep, it will still stay connected 15 minutes before dropping the wifi link. This means 150 minutes wifi is on for nothing. I reduced the time to 1 minute which is a very good value for me. Hope it comes in handy for you guys!
Cheers!
PS - I could be wrong on the 15 minutes value on the Galaxy Note, but I know it takes a long time for wifi to switch off after the screen goes black.

I use Llama to do this, and a whole lot more. The big advantage (apart from not needing root or risking damaging your OS) is that I can disable it when certain apps are running, for instance Internet Radio, so leaving WiFi on.

In my experience, having wifi off has a negligible effect on battery life. Because of that, I just don't bother turning it off.

Speedbooster working well!

http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=speedbooster&tab=download
Just installed speedbooster v2 and I really like the application (under processes/add) speed up feature. I added new sms, new appointment and some common application I use often. The speed improvement is quite obvious.
I also have read that other users just adjusted all processes to high and have seen much faster speed on TP2 which I have yet to try.
Am observing the battery consumption but so far no significant deterioration after installation but still observing.
i concur, it has speeded up texting etc noticably when the right settings are tweaked.
Does this program just need to be run once or after every soft reset?
I have not noticed any major drop in bat life but will report back.
I noticed that a short cut shows up in "start-up". Believe it is restarted automatically after each reset.
By the way, there is a power saving selection that I have selected. After running it for almost a day, I have not noticed any significant drop of battery comparing to before the installation.

Can you share your settings you've tweaked? Thanks in advanced
yes a brief tutotial of what you guys did would be greatly appreciated
The setting I currently have... just to share.
1) Under processes: select highest for all. Select Refresh and select Monitor.
The best part here is the "Add" function which allows you to pick applications you want to add and speed up. Once you add, select highest speed as other processes. The improvement is really noticeable.
2) Memory: similiar to other clean Ram type of utilities. No setting required. Just hit Free.
3) Video speed: I select fastest and disable window animations.
4) Storage performance: Just select all to tick.
5) Tools: I only need battery hack (to last longer).
6) Benchmark & reset to default - as needed.
Hope this helps.

Thank you! That did the trick.

There is a "Default settings" selection to reset back your phone to original setting that you can try out. I don't have this problem... but perhaps you might want to speed up one process at a time to check which process cause your problem.

Your S3 Tasker Profiles

I thought it would be a good idea to share your Tasker profiles.
I recently discovered this app and after 3 years of using Android it feels like Android has a whole bunch of extra features.
My profiles are boring really but I'll share anyway.
My first profile puts my phone on silent between 2am and 10am.
My second profile turns off Bluetooth after 3 minutes of being unpaired.
My third and final profile waits until my screen goes off, waits 5 seconds, turns the screen on displays the time on an app called night screen lite (only between 9pm and 11am)
What are your Tasker profiles?

Hey guys, there's a thread going with lots of profiles etc, check it out here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754500
I have one profile used for automatically transfering calls to my car.
Bluetooth will switch on when incoming call and outgoing call. Connect to car Bluetooth. Transfer audio to car. And Bluetooth will switch off after the call.
With this profile, I do not have to worry about switch on Bluetooth and connecting it manually eveytime I enter the car. Everything is done automatically !
Its indeed a great software.

I have one for work that rejects all calls and sends a text, also responds to texts. Both say at work will call later, never sends the text to the same person twice in a row. Also prompts me to turn it off after normal work times. Our don't use location since I'm not always in the same place.
Also, while at work it sends my wife a random text once or twice a day. I can't have my phone at my desk and she used to complain that I never call or text during the day.
Also, face down full silent and the Bluetooth others have mentioned... Oh and low power disables everything but calls and sms.

When on home wifi..deactivate pin code security, reactivate pin when disconnected (need secure settings plugin)
Same as above when paired with my bluetooth car stereo. Also set display timeout to one hour. Turn wifi off. Launch carhome app.
The usual sleep one. Turn off sync. Wifi. Bluetooth etc. Phone to silent.

The 'Night Stand' profile requires an app called 'Night Clock' or a similar app. After a set time, when the screen has been off for 5 minutes and the phone is on charge, it will show the time in big text and stay on for as long as you exit. Very useful for quickly checking the time during the night.

If you could export the XML for your second profile to turn bluetooth off after 3 minutes of being unpaired, I'd be really really grateful, or just provide the steps in your reply.
Thanks
1). Pocket Lock - Detects when phone is upside down in my pocket and activates WidgetLocker.
2). Read Caller Aloud - Incoming caller name said aloud so I can decide whether I want to answer without looking at my phone.
3). Night Mode - From 00:00 to 06:00 Puts phone into silent mode, plus checks whether Wifi, Data, GPS, or Blutooth are on, and turns them off if they are.
4). Battery Low - When battery gets to 15%, and it's not connected to a charger, Says "Battery low, connect charger" and turns off Wifi, BT, Data, GPS.
5). Music Player - When headset is plugged in, loads music app.
6). Wake on Lan - Scan an NFC tag by my front door to send Wake on Lan packets to my pc to resume windows.
7). Home - Gets general location from cell tower, activates Wifi, disables Data & GPS. Exit Task disables Wifi, and enables Data.
8). Work - Gets general location from cell tower, disables Wifi, Data, GPS, BT, and Auto Replies to sms that im working and will reply when i can.
I'm pretty new to tasker, but have been pretty bored lately and have been working on an addition to my Work profile.
This profile will, use variables to save up to 5 peoples numbers and how many times each has txted me, and txt each of them back, using their names from my contact list in the body of each txt.
So lets say BOB txts me once, his number will be added as a variable, and it will begin counting the txts from him. On the first txt he is send a txt saying, something like. "Sorry BOB, im at work, will reply when i can".
Then DAVE txts, he will be assigned to Sender2, and have a txt sent to him like above, with the second Counter and Number (%CNTR2 and %SNDR2).
BOB, realizing it's an auto-reply, decides to be funny and spam txt me, thinking he will get a reply every time. However, tasker counts his incoming txts, (%CNTR1) and when it reaches a value of 10, send just one more txt saying something like (Thats 10 txts you've sent, seems Im still unavailable).
Profile: Auto Reply
Variables:
%SNDR1 <---- BOBs cell number
%SNDR2 <---- DAVEs cell number
%SNDR3
%SNDR4
%SNDR5
%CNTR1 <---- BOBs txt counter
%CNTR2
%CNTR3
%CNTR4
%CNTR5
%TXTVAR <---- Counter determining whether a txt received is from someone new or a number already saved.
Enter Task:
Code:
1). GoTo label Sender1 if %SMSRF ~ %SNDR1
2). GoTo label Sender2 if %SMSRF ~ %SNDR2
3). " " etc.
4).......
5).....
6). If (%SNDR1 ~ 0) then SetVariable %SNDR1 to %SMSRF
7). If (%SNDR2 ~ 0) and (%TXTVAR = 1) then SetVariable %SNDR2 to %SMSRF
8). If (%SNDR3 ~ 0) and (%TXTVAR = 2) then SetVariable %SNDR3 to %SMSRF
9)........etc.
10).
11). If (%SMSRF ~ %SNDR1) <-------- Label Sender1
Variable Add (%CNTR1 + 1)
If (%CNTR1 = 1)
Send SMS (Tells this person eg. BOB I'm at work)
Variable Add (%TXTVAR + 1)
Else If (%CNTR1 = 10)
Send SMS to %SNDR1 (Thats 10 txts you've sent me)
Endif x2
12). If (%SMSRF ~ %SNDR2) <-------- Label Sender2
Variable Add (%CNTR2 + 1)
If (%CNTR2 = 1)
Send SMS (Tells this person eg. DAVE I'm at work)
Variable Add (%TXTVAR + 1)
Else If (%CNTR2 = 10)
Send SMS to %SNDR2 (Thats 10 txts you've sent me)
Endif x2
13). If (%SMSRF ~ %SNDR3) <-------- Label Sender3
Variable Add (%CNTR3 + 1)
If (%CNTR3 = 1)
Send SMS (Tells this person eg. EMILY I'm at work)
Variable Add (%TXTVAR + 1)
Else If (%CNTR3 = 10)
Send SMS to %SNDR3 (Thats 10 txts you've sent me)
Endif x2
14). ......Etc.
15). ......
I'm still working on it, deciding whether to have the variables reset as they are all filled, 1 at a time, or to make them reset every hour or so. Also whether to make another profile purely for resetting those variables, or add them to this task. Bearing in mind that on my phone it gets rather annoying to manage/edit the task since its currently at 78 lines long.
As I said I was bored.
If anyone is interested in this I can post a backup xml of this somewhere.
Here are mine:
1. Kill a couple of apps on boot
2. Power Saver – mainly To turn off my WiFi profile
3. Call Brightness – while the phone's ringing, the brightness is maxed.
4. Keyboard Out – disables the display timeout for the time I've got the hardware keyboard out
5. Lost – checks for incoming SMS with one of two predefined phrases. On the first one it starts playing alarm sound (if I forgot where I placed it). On the second one it sends back the GPS coordinates and battery level and puts the same information in my google calendar, so I can see it from anywhere (source tasker wiki. Can't give the link, since I'm new here, sorry. PM me if you can't find it)
6. Sound Control – I hate the thousands chat sounds when I'm texting with someone, but I need them when the phone is not in my hand. So here's what this profile does:
Any time I turn the screen on, the sound volume will be set to 0, and phone will be set to Vibrate.
When I turn the screen off, the sound settings will be restored to their previous values, unless it's currently on MUTE. Then it'll keep it on Vibrate (!) until it's manually raised (in which case it will remember the new volume level). That's cause I never use my phone on "mute" (no sound and no vibration). If I want no sound, I keep the vibration on.
Sound Control Project:
Code:
[b]profile Display On[/b]
Contexts:
event: Display On
state: Not Call Incoming
apps: Not Alarms (or whatever alarm app you use)
Tasks:
Silent Mode: On (if %Mute ~ 1)
Silent Mode: Vibrate (if %Mute !~ 1)
[b]profile Display Off[/b]
event: Display Off
Tasks:
If %SILENT ~ On
Variable Set %Mute to 1
Silent Mode —> Vibrate
Else
Variable Set %Mute to 0
Variable Set %Volnprev to %VOLN (IF %VOLN>0)
Notification Volume —> to level %Volnprev (IF %VOLN~0)
7. WiFi Control – turns on and off WiFi when I'm at home/work.. wherever. The original source is from Tasker Wiki but it wasn't working properly so I did some changes)
Key points:
- It watches the Cell towers only when I'm not connected to wifi.
- It uses Wifi Near to check if I'm near the router ONLY when I'm within the Cell tower range and NOT connected to wifi.
- If I disconnect from wifi it waits a few seconds and checks if I'm connected before continuing.
WiFi Control Project:
Code:
[b]A: Cell Network Home[/b]
Contexts:
Cell Near {Cell towers at home}
Not Airplane Mode
Task:
Profile Status "Wifi Near Home" set to On
End Task:
Profile Status "Wifi Near Home" set to Off
[b]B: Wifi Near Home[/b]
Context:
Wifi Near {my router SSID and MAC}
Task:
Wifi On
End Task:
Wifi Off (IF WIFIC !~ 1)
... repeat A and B for each location, for ex. work
[b]C: Wifi Connected[/b]
Context:
Wifi Connected *,*,* (to any)
Task:
Variable Set %WIFIC to 1
Wait 15s
Stop (IF %WIFIC !~ 1)
Profile Status "Wifi Near Home" set Off
Profile Status "Cell Network Home" set Off
... set also profiles for other locations to Off
End Task:
Variable Set %WIFIC to 0
Wait 30s
Stop (IF %WIFIC ~ 1)
WiFi Off
Wait 3s
Profile Status "Cell Network Home" set On
... set also the cell profiles for other locations to On
I have one that sets usb debugging off at boot and displays permanent notification with usb debug status + theres an action attached to the notification that toggles debugging on/off.
This is to toggle debugging on when I need it and to make sure it's off when I'm not using it. I wouldn't want anyone to easily bypass the lockscreen should my phone fall in the wrong hands.

Sure, here it is.
You need secure settings with "helper" installed for it to work.
This profile uses %USB_DEBUGGING var to store current state of the setting as there is no way to read the actual state from within tasker (as far as I know).
The usb debugging will be turned off at boot, you can change this by changing the "variable set" action in "Start" task to 1.

To be honest I never tried it before but after some reading I did it this way:
First put the xml file somewhere on your phone, go into your file manager, click on the xml file, a dialog should appear with apps available to open the file - there choose tasker. Do this for all files you want to import.
Now open tasker, open profiles tab and long click on it -> import, choose the imported profile name, "autostart" in this case. Then go to tasks and long click on it -> import, there should be the toggle usb task, exit tasker and restart it. The imported profile and two tasks should all be there. Now when you go to the "Start" task and click the triangle "play" icon (or reboot the phone) the notification should appear
Oh and I didn't notice that tasker did not export one of the tasks required for this to work, don't know why, so I'm attaching it here.
Sorry about the mess.

[Guide] Tips on saving battery + smooth + faster ROM

Announcement
If you have any suggestions/settings which you are using to improve overall rom performance/battery saving technique then do share them in a comment. I will have a look on those and if I found them useful then will include in the OP and give you the credits as well.
Here are few condition before you post..
1. You should not copy it from anywhere
2. If you are copying then provide the details from where you are copying those
So, lets come together and make this the best thread ever so can be used on any rom.

After being on custom roms around 2 years and flashing of roms more than hundreds of time I am sharing my experience on saving battery / smoothness / faster rom so if you dont agree or have any issue give me a PM and if I like your suggestion then will include in the OP with proper credits.
These are not all founded by me I have got the base from Jarmezrocks (A big thanks to him).
Recommended applications:
* Autostarts - this application is a paid app and worth it's weight in gold
* Juice defender - this app is one of the best on the market (I dont use it but have heard that its good by user so it is included)
* Titanium backup - (I would suugest to buy the pro version for the batch opperation and few more options)
Which roms I use?
1. Remic-JB
2. X-Bean
3. Mackay Rom
Which kernels? anyone of semaphore/devil/mackay i keep moving in between them.
Steps for flashing a a new rom / update of the rom you are using:
1. take full backup using TB by selecting 'backup all user app + system data
2. Reboot phone in recovery
3. wipe user data / factory reset
4. wipe cache partition
5. wipe dalvik cache
6. format system under mounts and storage
7. flash the rom and gapps (if dev has ask to flash gapps seprately)
8. reboot and loged in use your login credentials
9. let the phone settle down for around 10-15 mins
10. Load titanium and go to menu -> batch -> restore -> Restore all apps with data -> Run
11. Inside this sub menu click on 'deselect all'
12. Check the toggle 'data only' (this is the restore for system apps that you use and have stored settings or info i.e. Mms and settings and what ever)*note these apps will be marked with green text in the list or maybe red....try not to restore data for apps marked with red text unless you are absolutely certain that your settings are necessary. (*try not to restore your user accounts this way, sign into your Google account is best practice*to backup contacts and sms/mms use TB)
13. click the top button 'Run the batch operation'
14. Once completed return to the same menu again -> batch -> restore -> Restore user apps with data -> Run
15. Inside this sub menu click on 'deselect all'
16. Check the toggle 'App+Data' (you should do this for user apps only; try to restore data for only those apps for whome you need the data back like games, dont do for facebook, and such apps if you can avoid).
17. click the top button 'Run the batch operation'
18. Reboot into recovery and then delete dalvik and wipe caches and reset permissions
This way will gives you a fresh rom always to use with no traces of issue from previous.
Warning:- I use the above steps and will help you to my extent if you falls in any issue however I am not responsible if you burn/broken your device.
Modems
Choosing the correct modem.bin file to flash that is relevant to your device, your service provider and your region can have a huge impact on performance. And even if it doesn't you can make it have a huge impact on performance!
A great choice of modem could enable any user to reduce their wifi.supplicant_scan_interval from one value to an even lower rate. NOTE: The larger the number the better! (you can get all the modems from here).
The longer the period of time between subsequent wifi scans the less amount of battery you are going to use..
Note also that adjusting this value could improve or worsen your wifi signal and maintained strength and connection. Do so wisely.
Likewise that if you have great battery consumption yet you have faulty connection (if any?) then this can be remedied by either adjusting the scan rate (scan interval) to combat the issue. Compensating too much in either direction (for connectivity or for battery performance) may flag a need to change modems to something more suitable? View here for detailed example

Apps you can use to save battery
Here I am going to provide few names of those apps which can help you increase your battery life.
Autostarts -
This app will help you to disable few apps which auto start on any event. e.g. why Facebook messenger needs to run when I receive any sms and it is getting start and using our battery so disabling this and others will surely save battery.
WARNING:- The only way you could end up in a bootloop is because you disabled a needed system app. Now I didn't know a lot about Android when I first started using that app, but it doesn't take a brain surgeon to work it out....like what to disable and what not to disable. Read carefully into all System services, what they are used for and how they interact with the rest of the system BEFORE you just disable them.

Is there any way to install all apps from titanium backup without having to press install for each apps seperately.. i mean some kind of batch process which will asks for only once..
NVM
no warez on xda....I would advice you to change you comment
thats nice....if you want batch processing in TB then go and buy it.
i wouldnt recommend using the autostarts app, i just installed it and killed some apps and now i got stuck in a boot loop and couldnt get onto recovery, had to go back to stock and work my way back to JB through GB ICS then JB :\
Backup with TB or in Recovery ?

in recovery you take whole roms backup which can useto revert to old state if required however I have never taken that....and TB for all apps and their data.
also if you taken backup in recovery then you cant use that to restore the apps on new rom

I tried all of these ROMs and also CM10 has a good battery life, isn't it?

These apps work. Autostarts ALWAYS works for saving the most for battery. Take a look at how often google gets us to fire up Google Maps. For rediculous things like sending an SMS? What for?
Thats all wasted resources on an SGS1 (especially)

Should we post screen shots for the man erpurohit?
We are dealing with "smart" phones here, they are like little computers....and we are packing in a whole heap of functionality into these little things so of course they are going to use a heap more juice when we are making use of this functionality; and more so if you are using a LOT of the functionality.
Here is a screen from my old SGS1 http://sdrv.ms/SfN2rV (notice connectivity isn't on the whole time. I was letting the applications Juice defender control when my phone could connect.
I used apps like NoBars. (Free from the market) so when my phone had no signal it would not sit there searching and searching trying to connect. NoBars lets the phone check for connection at a given set period of time after having no connection for a specified time...say your out in the wilderness or remote areas with patchy signal or none...then your phone will last longer.
Lastly I cannot recommend it enough....V6 supercharger scripting by Recognised Developer zeppelinrox. This has by far improved my device running with battery. Why? Cause instead of running my phone O/C'd and on demand or performance "type" governors etc....I do the oppisite. I run the most conservative clocking and undervolting as I possibly can without strangling my device to death; THEN I let the V6supercharger scripting bring the performance of the device up to normal specs (as if the phone was stock standard - maybe leaning a bit more towards the snappier side of that scale I might add ). Sure, my phone won't get crazy benchmarks or scores, but it can last a whole day without needing a charger LOL. I mean these ARE actually phones first and foremost and I am not sure about you guys but I need to be contactable sometimes (people with ORD are an exception).
V6supercharger scripts ARE however a little bit tedious and involved to set up but they ARE worthwhile. It will change your device from a slug to a bullet
To get a good understanding of Governors and I/O schedulers check out the thread (appropriately named) by recognized contributor Simba501. Bare in mind the information in that thread is slightly dated now, and there have been some more governors and additions since then, so if you are unsure...do some research.
Make sure you have all of these settings backed up. Hence why Titanium is worth its weight in Gold. Big thanks to keramidas for that app hotlink to latest apk here (free)

For batch restore, you need Titanium Backup 'Pro'

Advanced Wi-Fi:
disable network notification
Keep Wi-Fi on -> Always
Disable Maps latitude - Log off
I found these setting for juice defender and i tested them 1 week and all seems preety good so i thinked to post them here
Under ABOUT tab -
---------------------------------------------------------
:Backup/Restore:Remember this feature is available and based on user preference. When you see a noticeable difference in battery life. Save your settings!
:Screen: (Enable) Enable after unlock is one of the most crucial settings on this app. What this does is reconnects your phone with a network after waking up. Also this is a default setting.
:Use APN method: (Skip, recommended) this setting is determined by your phones ability to establish a connection under mobile data control. I would suggest skipping this until you see what effects your phone goes through by default.
Under STATUS tab -
---------------------------------------------------------
{Controls} Data, Wifi (Preferred, Auto disable), Autosync (Ping)
{Schedules} Schedule 30 min. Night (time frame based on user)
{Triggers} Battery 5%, Screen, Traffic 10kb/15s, 15s min
{Location} WiFi (your wifi and all other wifi locations your phone trains to remember) * Will explain later.
rofile: Each preset could result differences in overall performance. For this setup we want to use ADVANCED. Note that even the CUSTOM preset does not give you as much tweak possibilities as ADVANCED.
:Notifications: (User preference) Not much battery consumption other more memory usage if set to Graphical, overall no difference. The notifications appear under your phones status bar.
:Activity Log: based on user preference, overall no difference. Its a good tool for viewing all phones battery activity in detail.
Under CONTROLS tab -
---------------------------------------------------------
:Mobile Data: (Enable) This setting is pretty obvious. Note this setting will be affecting most importantly with the DATA Toggle widget which comes with Juice Defender * Will explain later.
:Tablet Mode: (Skip, recommended) (1)(2)
:WiFi: (Enable) This setting is pretty obvious, but also based on (User preference). Like the Mobile Data setting above this also is connected to your phones setting. Note this setting is most important and effective with your stock Power Control widget.
ptions: (WiFi preferred) Both sub-options work alike but for most effectiveness with Juice Defender choose WiFi pref. because this setting works together with your Location presets. * Will explain later
:AutoSync: (Ping) This setting is a bit confusing. If "ENABLED" it will allow all apps to sync in the background over any data source that is connected. Which will use more power overall. You have the option to disable. But with Ping this will allow only your google account to synced, which is most important. Ping reduces overall data and power usage. * Will explain later.
:Keep Enabled: (Skip, recommended) This quite possibly one of the most important settings. What this does is keep either the option of data or wifi to always be enabled even when the phone is idle. This setting is crucial. For the ideal settings make sure that neither options are selected, (not highlighted) If either is selected, that option will always be active in result drain your power even when phone is idle and not in use. Its best to skip. * Will explain later. (2)
:Bluetooth: (Skip, recommended) (1)(2)(3)
;Disable Timeout to Force Reconnect: (Skipped if Bluetooth is disabled) (2)
:Timeout: (Skip, recommended) (1)(2)(3)
:Keyguard and Home WiFi network: (Skipped if Timeout is disabled) (2)
:Brightness: (Skip, recommended) (1)(2)(3)
:Levels to Night tint: (Skipped if Brightness is disabled) (2)
Under SCHEDULES tab -
---------------------------------------------------------
[Important] - These SCHEDULES settings are partly connected to Keep Enabled settings under the CONTROLS tab.
:Schedule: (Enabled) This will allow you system to conduct periodic data syncs. Depending on the sub-options below. Wether WiFi or Data is active. This applies to that preset.
:Frequency: (User preference) This has 5 options. The longer the interval the less battery consumption overall. In short, this setting is only effective if either (Keep Enabled) options are active. (2)
;Duration: (User preference) This has 5 options. The longer the interval the less battery consumption overall. In short, this setting is only effective if either (Keep Enabled) options are active. (2).
[Please Note] - By default the frequencies are matched ideally to a specific duration. In theory the longer your system waits to update/sync the more data will be needed to be downloaded. So it might take longer.
:Controls: (Default) also a (User preference) option. Selecting custom allows you to either choose Data or WiFi to be used for scheduled triggers. Default = autosync = autoconnect. Which toggles each interface depending on which is being used the time if not disabled.
:Night: (Enabled) This is one of the most important settings in all of Juice Defender. This allows you set a specific time based on User preference to automatically disable both Data and WiFi during Night set times. This is where your battery will save the most power. You do not need incoming Data from either source when your sleeping.
:Start/End: (User preference) You should you set it to the times you usually sleep. Mine is set from 2:30am to 10:30am.
:Adaptive Start/End: (Skip, recommended) (1)(2)(3)
ptions: (User preference) Here you can choose what your phone does when in night mode. Pretty straight forward. (2)(3)
eak: (Skip, recommended) (User preference) (2)(3) This feature allows you set a specific time in which your phone will not disconnect from either source. Example if your a business type who needs to receive emails constantly. This setting will affect your battery greatly. Suggest skipping.
:Start/End to Controls: (Skipped if Peak is disabled)(2)
To keep it short;
:Weekend: (and all sub-options) (Skip, recommended) (User preference) (2)(3) This works like Peak but is used for specific days and times. To much micro-management. Very unnecessary.
Under TRIGGERS tab -
---------------------------------------------------------
[Important] - These TRIGGERS settings are connected to SCHEDULES settings under the SCHEDULES tab.
:Battery: (Enabled) This option is basically a lifeline. It will allow the following sub-options to be active. This will help your battery save its last bit of energy by disabling all incoming data and sources when triggered by the threshold below.
:Battery Threshold: (User preference) 5 options. The first 2 are most important. My setting is at 5%.
:Charger: (Skip, recommended) (User preference) This setting will allows connections to be made when connected to either USB or AC. Note, is disabled your battery will charge faster. (2)(3)
:Screen: (Enabled) This option will automatically connect to any Data source when your screen is on. When your actually using your phone. This setting is crucial to Keep Enabled. * Will explain later.
ption: (Skip, recommended) (User preference) Self explanatory (ignore on low battery) this option is pointless. It contradicts the entire battery threshold preset.
:Controls: (Default) Also a pointless option. This settings works exactly the same as the Autosync setting under the CONTROLS tab. It actually contradicts the Autosync. What it does is determines which data source will be connected based on preference. But with Ping selected. That alone takes care of that. (2)
:Traffic: (Enabled) Allows connections to remain connected when data is being transferred especially if phone is idle or enters Night mode. Then disables after.
:Traffic Threshold: (Skip, recommended) By default Enabling Traffic will automatically select a preset. This is also based on phones performance when it comes to receiving Data. This is also pretty confusing. (2)
:Apps: (Disabled) (Skip, recommended) (User preference) For best results its best to leaves Disabled. To much micro-management. Very unnecessary. (2)(3)
:Configure and Controls: (Skipped if Apps is Disabled) (2)
:Location: (Enabled) One of the best features on Juice Defender. After connecting to a preferred WiFi location. Juice Defender will train the system to remember the location allowing it to automatically connect when within range of the radius. This feature is connected to the majority of presets. Its the best feature hands down in Juice Defender (2)(3)
(1) This is also a beta feature which isn't fully tested. Could cause problems.
(2) Read the setting description for more info.
(3) Disabled by default.
As i said I would explain.
Juice Defender isn't complicated. For best results its best to use the widgets which come with the app, and place them on your home screen. Also use your Power Control widget to work hand in hand with Juice Defender.
The Run Down. Your phone is constantly connected to a data connection of some sort, whether its wifi or data over 3g or 4g depending on your phone. The reality is. This isn't always needed. And is the main cause of your phone to be dead by the end of the day. So I'm going to tell you how to manage your phone to get the best results.
The Process. Assuming you took into consideration my settings. Its best to make sure your Juice Defender is restarted. Simply click the back button on the app, then swipe down the status bar and watch it restart. After charge your phone. Give it a few hours even after it says 100% what this does is gives Juice Defender to get your battery calibrated and under control. Now. Your widgets. The key widget is your data toggle on/off. Simply turn it off. You don't need data 24/7. This alone will boost the life of your battery. Whenever you need to use the internet, send an email or stream music... Simply turn it on. Its that simple. Whenever your done turn it off. As i mentioned. Ping and Location are the very important. With Ping and Location enabled your phone will simply connect to your WiFi within range. Along with the screen setting. All connections are disabled when phone is idle. Once unlocked thanks to Ping it simply reconnects. Which why i explained that most settings are mangled together. Pretty straightforward. With the settings i provided and the simple instructions as to how to use it. Your phone with easily make its way up the x2.0 and up multiplier. Remember your Juice Defender needs time to get to know your battery. So don't expect it to reach the x2.0 multiplier over night.

[Q] Is there any way to turn off the fully charged sound?

I am 'on-call' 24/7 so I can't put my G2 on silent when I plug it in at night. Every time the battery is fully charged the damned phone beeps with the fully charged notification (and wakes me up).
Is there any way to turn this off?

I wrote a series of Flows in Automagic Premium that lets me configure when my phone should and should not play this sound. If I plug in my phone after 22:00 it doesn't make the sound. If I plug it in before, it does. I can also manually override this for a single time only with a widget. It's not that hard to get it all installed. If you or anyone else is interested I'll happily provide more details, but the gist of it is this:
1) Get the Automagic app
2) Download this file (save its source): (I can't post links, can anyone help me with this?)
3) Import the file from within the Automagic app
4) Execute the flow called "Initialization (Control Battery Full Sound)" from within the Automagic app
5) Install an "AM Toggle Widget" (comes with the app) for the variable "global_battery_full_sound"
6) Optionally change the default times from within the Automagic app.
The widget shows whether or not your phone will make the sound when it's done charging. It will switch states at 22:00 and 6:00 (configurable from within the Automagic app). It will not change states while it is charging.
Regards,
Wilbert
P.S. Optionally, if you don't ever want the sound, disable the flows named "Battery Full Sound Start Time" and " Battery Full Sound Stop Time", disable the sound, and delete the widget.

G930A FRM Bypass (Possibly other models as well)

This method requires a way to turn your Wifi on and off. I used a Mobile Hotspot from another phone for ease of use.
Begin by setting up the phone. Connect to Wifi when asked.
Agree to the terms and conditions. When it says "Checking Connection" (A few seconds after hitting Accept), disable your WiFi from the source (The hotspot, or unplug your router). If done at the right time, it will tell you 'Could not connect'. If it says anything else, back up, reconnect to WiFi, and try again. The timing isn't difficult. Hit next. Turn your WiFi Hotspot back on (The power), and make sure your phone reconnects automatically.
It should ask for date and time. Skip ahead until you get to the Privacy Policy screen with 3 check boxes (You have to scroll down to see them all). Click on the 'Privacy Policy' link. Scroll down to the block of text. Click and hold on any word. Click Share. CLICK AND HOLD on the button that pops up. Click Force Stop. Pull down the settings menu and scroll over to 'Ultra Power Saving Mode'. Turn it on. Select your language.
Click More, Click settings. WiFi will have been switched off; switch it back on from this menu. Back out and go to Internet. Go to https:// goo . gl/vzoLBx (Won't let me post links, so remove the spaces) and download the file (Quickshortcutmaker).
Exit the Internet. Click More. Click disable Ultra Power Saving. Click 'Emergency Call'. Dial 112. Wait for it to connect. Scroll to the right and select Internet. Search for 'Samsung Galaxy Apps'. Click the first link. Scroll down slightly, in the banner it will say 'Samsung galaxy Apps' and have an icon next to it. Click the icon. This will open the App. Search for 'Maxi Explorer'. Install it. This will require registering with Samsung, create an account if you don't have one.
Once installed, click the 'Play' icon next to Maxi Explorer. Find the file you downloaded (Should either be in 'Storage/Emulated/Download' or 'sdcard/download'). The file will be 'com.sika524.android.quickshortcut'. View, Settings, Turn Unknown Sources on, click OK, Click Open.
Once Opened, search for 'Google Account Manager' Click the drop down arrow next to it. Find the FIRST 'Type Email and Password', click on it. Click 'Try'. On the upper right, hit the 3 dots and select browser. Login with YOUR gmail account. Once you're back at the menu with 'Try', restart your phone.
From here, you should be able to go through the normal process without any issues. Hope this helped, I can provide more information or screenshots later.
