This is needed, this hardware for 300$ is extremly high value!
This phone really deserves a own section. It is the only phone that has a top rating from Norway's largest website dedicated to mobile phones (amobil.no).
+1 for U8800 section
I also vote for this, I would like to see developers get into porting CM7 to the X5
Same, would be cool
i vote for U8800 too
+1 For Ideos X5!
Would be nice with x5/u8800/titan forum.
Ordered this one toaday and cm7 would be nice!
As said previously this phone is a bargin!
Phone with qualcomm msm 7230, 3,8" wwga screen!
Section for Ideos X5 (U8800) and also CM7 port for X5 please!
Getting one next week and will be needing root and custom roms as i'm so used to my HTC Magic with CM roms all the time!
If there are no 2.3 custom roms for this thing in the next few months i'll be highly disappointed!!
I got the Huawei U8800 last week. I've been googling all day for custom roms, etc.. So far I have gotten Z4Root installed and it seems to work, but now I'm stuck because I can't find a recovery rom for the phone. I want to create a backup rom before trying anything else. Anyone else played around with this phone?
Yes please, a forum would be great.
Got my X5 U8800 on the weekend, this cheap phone is great!
Coming from a HTC Magic i'm really missing the CM Custom ROM though!!!
This phone is quick, good build quality, why are there no clockwork/amonra recovery images yet? Read somewhere this is the same chip as used on the HTC DesireZ
This phone would rock with a custom rom as there are a few mods that need to be done urgently!! Like disabling the 'your internet will cost you money' prompt everytime the wifi stops! (So your 3g doesnt come on when you walk out of the house and you have to manually click the ok button to continue your internet connection!)
Come on, we need a Huawei section to get this phone moving!!
+1
Just picked up my U8800 and would love a custom ROM. I would also be available for testing.
I assume we will be waiting a little bit as this model has not been released in the US yet (mid-2011) and would need the user base to grow.
Yeah We have to wait till its released in US before a forum will be up(atleast what i think) The phone is awesome and I can recommend it for its cheap price and still everything runs really smoth
Figured out how to get rid of the 'Internet traffic' message, but had to resort to non XDA forums! (required a z4root and editing a text file similair to other Huawei models but slightly different name inside the build.prop file)
How much effort does it take to simply create a Huawei forum, come on and give us somewhere to centrally locate all the hints/tips/hacks on XDA
Flash ClockworkMod recovery ideos x5 u8800
when i tap Flash ClockworkMod recovery, my phone is not listed. i wish to go through this process to create a back up as I am happy with the ROM.
Is it ok to continue the install of Flash ClockworkMod recovery using one of the other phone names in the list, if you are only going to use the create back up option?
What other ways are there to boot to recovery, create a backup so you can restore phone to current state rather than to factory settings?
thanks in advance,

You must be my secret twin. I'm coming from the same phone and am also looking for some ROM love
Hi again. I have question about scripts. Since i dont want to change my ROM it can be usefull to use some of the performance scripts. But as i walk through the threads i really dont know which will work on my Blade. Can somebody recommend me a few good scripts for perfomance and smooth scrolling which are balanced and fully working (no bugs).
Thnx
Anybody?
I may be able to help but I really don't get the meaning of "scripts".
Sent from my ZTE Blade using XDA app
I mean the scripts which are build into custom rims and even standalone and you load them with script apply from market with root permission. For example supercharger v6 or scripts for faster 3g connection, performance and smooth scrolling scripts.

that's called a code not a script.
a script is a custom build method from preset methods lolz

If you want to correct someone then please first correct yourself and don't LOL on people...I don't ask for any codes but for scripts. Its tweaks that you load via script manager with root permissions and it changing the build.prop file. Like 3g turbocharger or supercharger v6 or juwes ram scripts. I'm asking here for help and for advice which to use not to be corrected in a bad way. Thanks

Try v6 supercharger....it is the only script I came across...will post here if I find anything else...

I just bought a zte blade...i flashed cyanogen stable 7.1 and now i wonder how i can unlock the 512 ram..cause the phone is bought in greece and for all i know the greek ones have limited their ram by software at 256 or something like this..
So...firstly..by installing cyanogen did it already got unlocked ,and if not how do i unlock it?
Mods,please move to general...

you came in just to say the obvious? (I found out just 2 minutes before that i was in wrong section)
Y U NO helpfull?!?!?!
Use this to unlock your 512mb ram (Greek Blades only) - http://amphoras.co.uk/index.php/downloads/blade-tpts#g2v2a
Read the instructions on the page.
Moved to general

It wont make any difference to speed at all. You can choose from either Gen2 v2a, or Gen2 stock, none of the others will work for you. Either version will unlock the 512mb ram. The only difference is how the storage space is partitioned.
You want the gen2 v2a version for CyanogenMod 7, or the gen2 stock version if you ever want to install CyanogenMod 9.
They will wipe your phone. You should backup in clockworkmod first & then restore from clockworkmod afterwards. There is a small risk of bricking your phone, especially if you do it wrong, so read all the instructions.
System is where the rom is, if it's smaller than the rom that you want to use then it wont work. Data is where your apps & their saved data are.
Cache is only used for market downloads, most custom roms will redirect that to somewhere else, so you don't need much cache because it never gets used.
If you use the v2a version you'll have more room to install apps, but CyanogenMod 9 & other ICS roms won't work, because they're too big for the small system size.
If you go for the stock gen2 then you'll have the same space available for apps as you do now. Apps2Ext is a better way to get more room to install apps, download Simple2Ext from Google Play to get it working on CyanogenMod 7.
This is all assuming your Greek Blade was sold to you with Android 2.2. If it was sold to you second hand with CyanogenMod 7 installed, then it's likely that somebody else has already done it & you don't need to because you already have 512mb ram unlocked. If the Gen2 TPTs from Amphoras' page don't do anything, then it's almost certainly already been done.
Make sure that you really don't have over 256mb, download 'Android System Info', look under RAM, at the Max, if it's about 420MB, then you don't need to do anything, you've already got 512mb ram enabled.
wow wbaw....that was really helpfull...so i have gen2 ,not the 512 ram...
now...if i follow the guide and unlock more space...i will have to first backup cyanogen7 with clockwork and after i unlock the memory,i restore again through clockwork, and ill have 512 AND cyanogen7?
Also if i want to install cm9 which one you suggest?
i know it is personal choise which rom to install but i need a starting point

Nearly all blades can remain stable at 710 MHz. However some, (like mine and karthiknr's) are stable at 748 too.
Ans while testing, DO NOT CHECK THE SET ON BOOT options

Download and do either of the following for a full backup...
the best way to do a complete and full backup of your device.. There are two methods
1 most common
download ROM MANAGER
you can from in this app install a custom recovery on your device..
Boot into the custom recovery and do a full anand backup. you can also flash other custom roms (custom android os)
2 what i use..
download goo manager beta from play store
in go manager click menu at top choose install open source recovery . follow prompts . It will download and install
same as step one you can boot into recovery from goo manager Its big botton fully touch base . And you can backup and restore as well as flash custom roms...
NOW WITH THE ABOVE SAID PLEASE READ thru the forums related to roms rom manager Custom recoveries .. and so on .. this will save you some troubles later .. anything you need to know or not understand Just ask We are here to help.
Cool, thanks! Could you point me to the best place for explanations about roms? XDA is huge and I am not sure where to look... Cheers!

I usually don't keep any one ROM and kernel on my tablet for more then a week (average is 2 days). I'm trying to resist flashing PARANOIDANDROID 1.992 since I heard 2.0 is around the corner.. not sure how long I can hold out though

To find roms on xda
Xda is a very organized web site for the most part finding them is easy. deciding which one is not so much
rom actually means read only memory.. But we will skip the tech stuff for now..
Here on the device development forums Rom is referred to mostly as a custom built Operating system for your device .
these can be built by one person or a team of developers . Most have tweaks and customization's a bit above and beyond the stock experience. ITS BEST before flashing any new rom is to into the forum thread of the rom read developer info and the comments made on the thread. Many roms have experimental software apps and tweaks.. Not all roms are perfectly stable..SO FINDING one that has what you are looking for is just a matter of reading and trial and error.
Most roms. well all you see anymore Come with a kernel. (The linux part of android .. Kinda whats under the hood) . Be sure to pay attention to this and the information. Some add features some over clock .
we have here for the n7 several types of roms .
original development .. these are based on the custom operating system pushed by google
custom based on the above but often has alot more customization's and kernel tweaks More likely to have buggs . but often faster and take up less storage space on device.. as well as having a personal twist for the developer on apps installed customization's and themes
I never give advice on what to use just go in the development section and start reading .
Be sure before you flash anything on your tablet know what it is and how to get out of it Back to stock and Have your backups backed up...
ALWAYS HAVE A WAY OUT FIRST..
Good Luck
So I am now on Paranoid Android, trying out the different Workspaces. Thanks for the help!
But I don't understand what Paranoid Android does. What does "This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually" mean in every day language?
Also, could someone explain where, in tablet mode, the three dots are for the settings of many apps. They seem to be covered by the status bar. How does one access them? Would be grateful for help as I really like the small tablet mode.
Hi folks!
I have been looking for some info about our devices and if it's possible to flash an android custom rom on it, but no luck. However, there is a very similar device to the ZTE Open, It's the Alcatel One Touch Fire. It has the same hardware and also brings Firefox OS by default.
There is a custom rom in development for this device and I was just wondering if it's possible to flash it on the ZTE.
I can't post the link because I'm new, but it's easy to find it.
Thanks in advance.

i have tried lots of Android Roms for ZTE KIS, Roamer2 etc.
all lead to bootloops.
resurrection is pretty easy though, just flash the experimental ZTE FFOS 1.2 and your good.
have not found a working ICS/JB Rom until now.
the phone is crap anyways, since you can't update higher than 1.3 (without any updates then) or stick to 1.1
there are no plans whatsoever from ZTE or Mozilla to remedy this.
Thought i could at least turn it into an emergency phone by flashing a usable Android on it, but it seems that's not going to work either.

"Dude" , whatever, 1.3 is not stable on ZTE Open - i tried. i have built a 1.3 myself (check on here) and the Browser crashes constantly.
there is no updated HW layer available for 1.3 and ZTE is not going to provide one.
Mozilla doesn't care either.
the only thing that happened is they gave you a coupon so you could buy a ZTE Open C cheaper.
burned once... no thanks.
Mozilla obviously is aware of the problem though and they do want to create a phone where they control everything.
that may change the game a bit.
also, all available FFOS devices are madly overpriced for the hardware specs.

I can honestly say Open C, is worth what I paid for it, I dual boot the phone, run android from sdcard, run FF from phone, the specs aren't the best but worth the price I paid for it, the flame clearly is over priced, and I wont be getting that phone. Open C is most likely the only FF phone I will buy, I like the ideal I can build my own OS, and choose from several different OSes to use. Also I can simply reboot into android when I need to run a navigation app, or want to run an android app.
I have never used Open so don't know about it's problems, Open C is a nice phone, FF runs very well on it as does android, Specs aren't the best this isn't a power house phone, but a very usable phone.
