I'm running GedeROM and I just installed CPU Spy but I'm quite sure how to make sense of the info provided..

I was browsing my system info and it seems my cou is running at 800mhz? Do u guys also have this as the standard

I mean when I view the system info in Quadrant, it says the cpu is underclocked

samsung built in an ondemand power bias, it will scale up to 1ghz if needed but will most of the time sit comfortably at 800
Cpu speed is self throttled. It won't run at 1gz unless required by whatever it is you are asking the device to do. This is to conserve battery usage. Ie: The phone doesn't need to run at 1gz to play solitare smoothly but might to play a video or 3d game.
Edit: I see someone beat me to the answer.

So I was trying to mess around with CPU profiles and I noticed that the low end of the CPU is clocked at 1GHz. If I lower it with Rom Toolbox, it just goes right back up after I leave the menu. the profiles won't stick, governors don't make a difference, and I'm a little confused.
Can someone shed some light on this for me?
I thought the lowest speed was 384 MHz? Install CPU Spy and check what it says.
It is 384MHz. The lower frequency change because of project butter that make the cpu run at a higher frequency when you touch the screen.

Dont you need a custom kernal in order to change the clock speeds?

No, we can already change it but it won't stick since it has its own frequency management.

Is this somewhat similar to perflocker in HTC devices? It had to be disabled to change any cpu settings AT ALL with the stock kernel.

You're right. I guess it just has its own profile to set at 1GHz when the screen is on, because the CPU Spy showed it in Deep Sleep/384Mhz for the majority of the night.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums and fairly new to Hacking and overclocking android devices. However I have been building and overclocking high end PC's for sometime. So I am no stranger to the risks or processes of overclocking.
But I have some questions that maybe you all can help me out with before I start overclocking my Nexus 7.
Here are my Current Specs and Software:
Nexus 7 Wi-fi version
SmoothRom v5.0 + LeanKernel
Currently I am overclocked to 1500 Mhz Max with 204 Mhz Min + Stock voltage
I have been able to find information about CPU overclocking. But after extensive searching I have not been able to find much on Nexus 7 GPU overclocking.
1. Does my kernel support GPU overclocking?
2. If so how do I enable it? Or where is it located? and what settings should I be looking for (Names)?
3. If you need an App to overclock the GPU are there any that are free (Or at least one worth paying for?).... and which one if any supports my kernel?
4. Are there any good Nexus 7 CPU and GPU overclocking guides someone could point me to?
Basically I am looking for someone who is experienced in Nexus 7 overclocking, to point me in the right direction and help me with some indepth questions that may come up.
Thanks guys
What temperature is your CPU?

According to System tweaks App 39c to 40c while idling in that program. I don't know how accurate that app is though.... so if there is a standard better app to monitor your CPU/GPU temps I am all ears
I have yet to find an app that allows you to monitor your temps during load. Again if you can suggest one I am all for it.
Try trickstermod

Download trickster mod from the app store you should be able to change the gpu voltage there

Alright I will check that out. But what about GPU clock settings can trickster change those too??? And if so.... What setting am I looking for because I saw nothing referencing GPU clocks in those words
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
It over clocks the GPU its on the 2nd to last page I think and you will see the clock speed and you can edit it, don't over kill though haha

Lean kernel doesn't have GPU over clocking settings. Try M-kernel, you'll find gpu settings in the specific menu of trickster mod.
hey my i9500 has very liw benchmark and hit only 19000 on antutu benchmark
im using phonix rom v4 plus presus v5 kernel
no overclocking has been perfomed and settings are set to their default
according to my screenshot from benchmark results, my cpu float point is lower than regular and I dont know why
plus ram memory hits very low score while I have only 0.9gb ram under use out of my 1.8gb
This is my benchmark using Omega v8 and latest perseus v5. All is well. Maybe your phone is too hot and cpu starting to throttling.

Can u plz tell me how measure or monitor if the CPU is throttling??? How can it be avoided???
Btw, I have Omega 9 with Perseus 5...
Thanks

you can use setcpu to monitor (set the min and max clock same as the one in stweaks) if you set e.g. 1700mhz at some point (if cpu start throttling) the clock will stuck at 1400mhz, or 1200mhz depending how hot is your phone, It simply can't avoided as far as I know, if you want to make a benchmark, cool down your phone first
As I already said, I had never ovrrclocked my device and never changed any settings.. cpu is set on 16000mhz as default. So I dont know what u want why using another applications

Hi all after wiping my nook and starting again I've had quite significant battery issues. I've now followed the general advice out there and removed as much as possible etc so far so good but according to cpu spy and nofrills cpu it's still using 600mhz and 800mhz despite me using nofrills to lock it to 300. Anyone any ideas on why it isn't working? It shows the success popup but just doesn't mean actually stop the nook using the higher speeds.

So to clarify when I change cpu settings with no frills cpu it says success etc and applies on boot too but cpu spy shows its still using higher cpu values outside of the range I set.
