Question for upgrading from custom gb to latest Ics lpy Rom - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

All friends, If I flash ICS LPY rom on my current Darky V3.4.1 via mobile Odin without replacing Zimage kernel, how can I do a full wipe when there will be no CWM installed? Or I can do a phone reset instead after flash?
What will be your suggestion or should I flash the CF root kernel together during flashing LPY rom? Any issues? Or should only use stock lpy without cf root?

Do the wipe before? Assuming it's not a leak kernel.

Follow this link and go with the instructions. You' ll have a fully rooted ICS Rom when you finish the procedure.

It is not a leak kernel. A kernel developed by Darky team called Notecore v 0.1. Do u think i need to do a wipe first before flash via mobile odin?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium

I was thinking about the same thing. However, I wanted to flash the rom image using mobile.odin. I would keep my root without cwm. I heard that it is one of the safest methods and.it is not wiping your device

I cant get PC odin to do anything it ALWAYS fails with this note. It works just fine on the AT&T one

Confused about rooting.

First of all I just came from Xperia X8 so this is a whole
New level. Forgive me.
Right now i know how to root sgs2 as i have already done
That to my friends one. But on mine i accidentally updated
To LP9. After reading many threads i decided not to root
With cf kernel as it is very dangerous so i have searched and from my knowledge,
I can root stock lp9 with siyah kernel right? So i just flash
The .tar with odin over stock lp9 kernel and my stock ics rom
Will be rooted?
Thank you all.
Just flash to XXLPQ and root that
CF_Root lp9 is safe. But lp9 is an old fw with bugs and wifi issues. LPG is one of the most stable 4.0.3 fw. As of your question, yes, flashing Siyah kernel will root it. Also, look at my signature if you want a less intrusive root method which is also universal to any ICS phone

Sorry one more question... Will it make a difference if i flash LPG(is it even compatible with LP9?) first then siyah than if I just flash siyah directly?

1) Install CF Root
2) Install Siyah Kernel
nah, you are free to flash any rom..

First, flash stock xwlpg over lp9
Then Siyah
You do not need cf root at all

Is it really that easy to install custom roms?

Or am I missing something?
Flash custom recovery through Odin, flash custom rom?
No root beforehand, no unlocking the bootloader?
Thx :good:

Yeah international i9505. I know it's not simlocked, but I'm used to Nexus devices where you need to unlock the bootloader 1st (the same with Asus Transformer tabs) before one do anything.
So... I need to be rooted first before I can flash a custom recovery?
Yep you dhont need ulcoking bootloader just go t android devolpment and djembay thread you will find odin end rooted stock rom

[Q] I need assistance please!

I want to update my i9505 to the latest android 4.3 through Odin but I don't want the new Knox bootloader, could someone please give me any instructions of how I could achieve this? I don't want to install the "custom" stock roms.
*EDIT*: Could someone also give me instructions on how to compile the edited firmware.
I tried to Google it but to no avail.
I shall be grateful to anyone who helps.

In order to remain on your old bootloader you will need to root. Any reason why you don't want to? Root, install a custom recovery then flash the pre rooted rom. They are stock based.

Thank you for your reply, I'm rooted with custom recovery. However I wish to create myself a Odin copy for emergency purposes, I currently have the official MGA firmware update for Odin. I want to create a Odin flash-able firmware update without the new bootloader,
EDIT: After going through the thread all the firmware files include the new know bootloader ;(
As far as I know you can't flash via odin. I suggest you flash the CWM version this has no bootloader. As your already rooted using the knox free cwm version is the safest bet at the moment.

No modem, you can install that separately via Odin as we can't flash modems using CWM. It contains stock rom and stock kernel.

please help! I made a dangerous mistake. I have a problem...

hi
I made a mistake when a I wanted root S3 with CF-Root kernel, and I flashed kernel of Note2
then display became Blue. and now it's touch doesn't work.
I flashed CF root of s3 and doesn't fixed.
even I tried Flashing original Rom
but it does not worked
and I lost my touchscreen
how can I fix that
I think kernel of note2 does not allow other kernels to flash correctly
(sorry ! I can't speak english good)

I m not sure about this...
Maybe you can try installing new kernel via adb...
Not sure if it will work though...
If the recovery is working than wipe everything there, system, data, preload, dalvik etc.. Then go into download mode and flash a official Samsung rom, some not branded 4.1.2, btu i think is the best, after that go into recovery again wipe data and cache, and than try to reboot. If that doesn't work try flashing only kernel via adb.

I flashed a ROM
it doesn't work
If you can get it in DOWNLOAD mode. You should be able to flash a stock rom with ODIN. Then re-root, flash Custom ROM, etc.,etc.
That's the only way I have repaired other peoples botched updates and stuff. :good:
The Note 2 screen needs more power than SG3 screen, so the kernel you mistakenly flashed could have damaged the hardware itself.
Do as fbarcenas says. If it doesn't work, I think you're gonna have to replace the screen unit. Try everything else first, of course, and good luck !

I remember that something similar to what you did happened because of a mistake from the developer and Codeworx and others tried to help and solve the issue, but I didn't follow that story until the end, so cannot tell you if they succeeded.
Try to use some Rescue Roms the ones with the pit files. Tough problem mate sorry?

u may want to consider getting a new screen...
If you have flashed a stock rom, that will have replaced all files, including the kernel, therefore if it's still not working something has caused hardware damage (the only option after flashing stock and wiping everything.
