Hi all, i am having problem with Motorola Defy, when someone calls or i call them, they cannot hear me at all, yet i can hear them.
I was given this by my Son, it had his Tmobile Sim in it and worked just fine, i have put my own TMobile Sim into it (registered my Google account fine) and yet i have the problem described.
I thought i had somehow busted it, but no, as soon as i put my sons Sim in all is again Ok.
Thanks
Ok Sorted guys, it was that motoBlur was still expecting to see my sons Sim card, so my own fault, as soon as i reset phone, and made new Motoblure account all working fine.
more reason to get rid of all that moto crapware. there is way to much of it and none of its needed. Well it is on the stock ROM as I tried to disable some of it and the phone was stuck in errors I couldnt get into or out of anything, had to do a factory reset.
Run CM7.2 now and there is no crap on there you have to install Gapps if you want to use google accounts

My friend wanted to try out my Exec so we swapped SIM card yesterday, I guess he had a voice mail along the way so we got a voice mail notification on the Exec after he put his SIM in.
After he played around with it and swapped back, the notification stays there even with my own SIM in there, and no matter how many times I tried to dismiss it, it just refuses to go away.. How do I get rid of it???? Thanks!!
soft reset?
Doesn't work.. It's staying there no matter what... and I've cleaned out my voice mail already too
I think you need something like Pocket Mechanic to inspect the Notifications Db.
There isn't any notification DB with WM5 I think
Have you tried removing the SIM? Check if the SMS is on the card.
If it's not there, it might be an operator SMS caught in the system.
Not really sure how to clear that, you could try talking to your operator. Tell us how it goes.

Leave yourself a voicemail, wait a minute or two to make sure that it sets the notification, then call your voicemail and clear it out.

I had this problem with mine. I even hard resetted and nothing.
In the end, I put my t-mobile sim in an 8850 and it decided to clear it!
The problem is with my own SIM, voice mail comes in as SMS instead of the voice mail icon so I can't get another voice mail notification with my own SIM.. Guess I'll ask my friend for his SIM again to see if I can clear it, this is sooooo stupid
Yeah, tell me about it!
The only way I managed to clear mine (having deleted the voice mail about 3 days prior) was to place it in another phone (8850) then I called voicemail and it magically vanished instantly.
Then when I put it in my JASJAR it removed it
I'm guessing if your friend has already cleared his voicemail, just putting his sim back in your phone SHOULD be enough. :?
When ever i turn on my HD2, i get the notification i have a new voice mail. but when i check to see i do i have no new ones it just the old one this is even happing when i switched to SPB shell. Is this hardware issue or something with my Sim or T-mobile? This is really getting annoying.
Anyone? can help me with this?
I have noticed the same behavior. In my case i had one saved voicemail and everytime I restart my device, i get notificarion of a new voicemail.
I have something like this too, its not just you.
I also deleted my saved voice mail. Does this have to do with the software or hardware issue of HD2. Tomorrow i'm going go get my sim replaced. T-mobile needs to get on these issues and send a new update.
I called Tmobile. They even went so far as to completely delete and reset my voicemail account. Didn't fix this. I switched to visual voicemail. Didn't fix this.
Tmo said they created a "trouble ticket" but I never heard anything again.
Obviously not everyone i having this issue...but us select few are. We need to determine what we have in common and then we'll know what is causing it.
Mine happened from Day, the very first time I put the SIM in. I had a Tmobile number already from a G1 that died. There were no new voicemails when I switched the Sim so it came up wrong from the very beginning.
I had the same problem, it was very annoying. Since I've switched over to energy roms it's never happen. I'm guessing it was a glitch in the stock rom.
i was having the same problem then i call tmobile and activate the new sim that came whit my hd2 and did a soft reset and my problem was gone (sorry for my bad english)
I figured out a fix for this!!!
I was said to be the first coustomer to notify tmobile about this problem.. I dealt with it for 2 weeks and even got a replacement phone...finally I suggested that they switch out my sim card.. IT WORKED.. this is now a known issue it is caused by visual voicemail on the HD2. the ONLY fix is to switch out your sim and disable Visual Voicemail for good...
I dont even have visual voice mail on..But i do have a a sim card from last year..So tomorrow after work i will stop by my T-mobile corporate store and see if they can fix it.
Whenever I try to set up the visual voicemail, it directs me to the website, and prompts me to add it to the package/bundle, and I do so, but it says that there is an error. Any ideas?

The service has to be active on your account for the app to work. If you're having trouble doing it through the website, you can just call up 611 and have a service rep add VVM to your line, it takes them all of 5 seconds.
I just upgraded my AT&T account from a Blackberry bold to the Aria online. I just got the phone in today and for some reason, I cant hear anything when I make or receive a call unless I put it on speaker. I have tried everything myself, made sure call volume is up, hard reset, master reset. Nothing has worked. I have to put every call on speakerphone just to make it usable. I called AT&T and they said I could go to the store tomorrow for a replacement, but I just wanted to know if anyone else has had a similar problem or knew of a quick fix to save me a trip. Thanks!
SOLVED
Just an updated for anyone who come across this issue. I took the phone to an AT&T store and they swapped it out for me in about 10 minutes. New phone works flawlessly so it was definitely a manufacturing defect. Just rooted and flashed liberated ROM. Couldn't be happier!
I've been using my Nexus 4 as a phone by using Groove IP until I got my Straight Talk SIM. Now that I have the SIM, the native phone app won't work right. The first call will allow me to hear the other person, but they can't hear me. Every call after that, I can't hear them, and they still can't hear me, and unless I reboot, every other call is like that. Here is a logcat of the first call, and the second call. Groove IP still works. Any ideas on how I could fix this? Running bootloader locked stock rom.
I had a problem where I couldn't hear other people, and they couldn't hear me, and I could not for the life of me find out how to fix it. I was running rooted stock, it had been working fine, and then just one day this problem popped up. I assumed it was a problem with the phone thinking a headset was still plugged in, but all those fixes didn't work. Then I just reflashed the stock ROM on the phone (no wipes), and it worked again and the problem hasn't come back. Not sure if that will help you, but it might be worth a shot.
Hey xda techies and guru's, i need some major desperate help here...
This is going to be a long read, but its for the sake of understanding and what exactly is happening, I hope you read on and hopefully have an idea as to what's going on.
So i've been a Rogers customer for the past 7 years, i've been using the Galaxy S3 for 4 of those years using the same SIM card. Just recently, I decided to upgrade and purchased a Galaxy S5. I put my new sim card in the S5 and everything was working flawlessly for about 2 months and then one morning I was sending some texts out, and didn't receive any all day so i checked my texts and realized they did not send. I then tried to make a call and got a message stating "not registered on network". So being the troubleshooting/techy guy i think i am, i go to google and start trying every solution out there. I got so desperate at wanting to fix this issue i had eventually factory reset, and even stock rom flashed the phone...but nothing i tried or did seemed to fix this issue. I put my sim card back in my S3 and it seemed to work just fine, so I figured nothing was wrong with the sim card, it had to be the S5...so here i am out of solutions to try, i randomly grab my brothers sim card from his phone and put it in my S5, and to my surprise it worked! so i thought that maybe the sim card was actually at fault. so i go to my nearest rogers store and get a new sim card, low and behold it's fixed!!!
...a week later, my phone decides to repeat the same ordeal. "not registered on network", so i go back to rogers and get a new sim card again, seems like it fixed the issue once again. and then a week later, same thing happens yet again. at this point...my phone has a temporary fix, but is way to unreliable as i have no idea when this starts happening and can miss very important phone calls or texts. So now this happens again the other night, and i put the sim into my S3 for a couple hours, make some calls and then for the heck of it decide to try it in my S5 again, and it worked! but it worked for maybe 16 hours until repeating the same thing. so i pop it back into my S3 make some test calls, and put it back into my S5 and now it's working again...for how long, i have no idea...fact is it's unreliable and i hate always having to check my phone in paranoia that this may happen again.
what do you guys think is the problem here? Rogers is willing to help me get it serviced for free. but i feel like they won't find the issue with the time they are given with it...
desperate need of help/advice. thanks!
