So, About 6 months ago, My camera stopped working after I dropped the Evo. It would just go to a black screen, and either freeze, or crash to desktop. I recently spent $20 on a new camera module, and once installed, the problem was fixed. Earlier this week, I dropped the Evo again, and it took a hard fall, and the camera stopped working. This morning, I noticed that the camera module was spazzing. The lens would click open and closed repeatedly. I pulled the battery and restarted it, and the same thing happened. This got me thinking that it could be a loos connection. The module is held to the motherboard by a thin sheet metal clasp that must be popped off to replace the camera. Apparently what happened when I dropped it (at least this time, probably last time) was that the module was shaken loose of its setting, JUST enough to stop working. To test my theory, I popped off the outer lens face and pushed firmly on all four sides, and sure enough, it popped back into place. When I turned it on it worked again. Hopefully this helps someone else who has had this happen.
Now (I think) I have an extra camera module that I payed $20 for... O well.

The protective cover on my front camera has disappeared! Given that I haven't even dropped the phone, this is vaguely annoying! I'm sure it won't come to much harm, but anyone know where I can find another?
My Ameo is now getting WM6; for some reason it went into a mad rebooting cycle lately and refused to work reliably before, eventually, locking up entirely. Attempting to access messages or similar resulted in a locked-up phone with spinning progress wheel.
Very annoyed about that, it's going to take ages to get it all the way I liked it.
spooky mine has also disappeared. Have only dropped mine twice. Both on the same eve (excess alcohol). Although hammered asssumed that i would have noticed things flying off.

oh wow... i hadn't noticed my lens was missing until after new year's eve also... my phone was perfectly fine on the eve of, but i guess a little too much Patron had something to do with that...
Same for me, I don`t know when. Thinking of going to a glazier to see if they can cut a small pice of glass.
BTW, I have also lost the small rubber thing on the joystick but this I have repaired with the eraser from a pencil (the one with lead) Cut the top of and glued it on the joystick.

Ok, some history first...
I bought my Herald 1 year ago, and after 3 months of proud ownership i dropped it into the toilet. (was just changing to my swimsuit in case you are wondering)...
After that underwater experience, the only kink was that the End button stopped functioning.
Fast forward to the present day. After opening my phone with the help of the service manual i found out that the fault was with the flex cable (the cable that has the keypad buttons, and connects the screen to the phone board)
So i hopped on Ebay and ordered a new cable, along with a new housing as my old one was full of dents, and had the parts delivered today.
I opened my happy ol' Herald, removed the screen protector (this is an important bit, just stay with me) and changed the cable and housing, hoping to transform it to almost-new condition.
After doing the transplant, and hoping that everything went fine, i closed everything and booted the phone up.
The End key functionality was restored, but the Touch Screen STOPPED WORKING!!!. It was registering some very strange positions and as i lifted the pen the cursor was yanking to the right, so i tried the first obvious thing of Align Screen. Since that wasn't registering ANY positions, i reopened the phone, reseated all the cables and still nothing was happening.....
I was at the brim of despair, after 5 hours of screwing, testing, unscrewing etc... and was leaving work... and just as i was packing everything up i picked up the old dirty and worn Screen Protector and tacked it on the screen (and since it was on my office the whole time it got very very dirty).
And lo and behold, everything worked with the screen protector on!!!
So this is the story....
Now, i have a couple of questions:
1) Anyone has a logical explanation about this??
2) I'm afraid to remove the screen protector in case i lose the touch screen again, so now i have a brand-new looking phone with a screen that looks like it was run over. What do you think will happen if i remove it?? (maybe open a poll on this)
3) I also yanked the keyboard (after discovering that its held with Glue on the casing). Now i have it tucked in place but it's not glued. Anyone now what glue is safe to use to make it stick in place ??
Hey guys so earlier this year I dropped my phone and the screen cracked. I ordered an lcd + digitizer from ebay and installed it myself. Everything had been working fine for a couple weeks but then randomly one day I woke up and the bottom 1/4th of the screen didnt work. Also, my screen is not very secure onto the device. I can peel off the lcd if I desired. I put double sided tape on all the places that a guide showed me but the screen just doesn't seem to stay in which causes dust and other particles to get in between my screen. Could this be the problem?
Some things i forgot
This started off with only a small portion of the bottom part of my screen to stop working. But then it turned into my whole bottom 1/4th of the screen not working. However, the first time this happened, I fiddle with the screen since it comes off and just moved it around and the bottom 1/4th worked again. However the problem reoccurred and I can't seem to fix it this time.
Thanks for any help!
Edit: Forgot to mention that I tried to open the phone again and press down on the digitizer pins to make sure they were secure. Still didnt work
sorry for posing this as it offers no solution
but just to say i have the same situation on a nexus 5.. came compete with frame.. worked for a week then bottom 1/2 inch stopped working
My upper 1/4th of the screen stopped working... Seems to be like a fairly common issue with the LG G2 and some cases appeared all of a sudden without drops or water, some other with a bit of liquid or slight drop to the floor.
In my case I think it was due to excessive moisture when I used the phone while sweating profusely.
A screen replacement is at hand right after I get my smartwatch
Yeah, I know the title said GPS, I'll get to it in a bit.
I got a Verizon S5 early on and I have a 64G card that I use for music storage. I Bluetooth a lot to my car in a my 1 hour commute. Almost since I got this thing, the music has skipped semi-randomly. Seems like it did it at a specific spot in the road, but most likely it was just random. Some days were way worse than others. Research indicated this was not an uncommon problem with android. Tried lots of things, but like prayer, who knows if it worked or not. some days maybe yes, some days maybe no. This same memory card worked flawlessly in my AT&T S3.
Then I noticed the GPS was wonky. I got a GPS test program and determined that only pulling the battery out would fix the weak reception, and then only temporarily. This went on for a week, so I called Verizon and a "tech" recommended I do the dreaded factory reset. Did it..nada, nil, zippo.
During the frequent removal of the battery to do a soft reset, I damaged my "KLIX Hard Case" by Empire, so i ordered another one. I used the phone with no case for about a week and had no GPS issues, but did still have BT music issues when played from the SD card.
I got the new case 3 days ago, snapped it on and the next day noticed GPS was out again. I kept removing the case, slowly snapping it down and confirmed GPS went away only when the case was all the way on. During this testing process, the power button finally quit working. A reboot via battery removal revealed it was hardware related (couldn't turn the $#@ phone on). I gave it a thought, and opened the back and pressed on the plastic near the power button and it started working. I then, after some experimentation and a few beers to get my fortitude up, placed the phone, screen down on a hard flat surface and began pressing down on the plastic near the power button with some force. I heard something snap into place.
No more issues so far, with BT music or GPS with or without the case installed. Pretty sure GPS is fixed, but need another week to verify BT music.
My best theory so far is that because the phones chassis is made of plastic, and the buttons and antenna are in that plastic chassis, and the main board sandwiches between the screen and the chassis, that the very rigid tight fitting phone case was slightly deforming the chassis, causing it to bow upward slightly, aggravating an already bad contact situation between the mainboard and the chassis. I other words, the phone case was squeezing them apart. There is a possibility, that I will not pursue, that the main board was not snapped down properly at the factory. Since there are many touch only connections (antenna, buttons, card slots) between the main board and the chassis, A poor snap fit would make this a possibility. You can see how the phone is assembled here in this tear down pic.

Anyway, I thought I'd post this for folks trying to track down a similar problem. Hope this helps someone. Don't crack your screen on my account. :crying:
EDIT: Bluetooth music is dropping out again, both from the card and the internal storage on the phone. So bad this afternoon, I turned it off, It was fine this morning, so none of this fixes BT streaming. GPS still works though.
Hi,
I have a problem with both Cameras, both are not working and all camera apps show the Camera Busy note. I did the usual (restart, factory reset) nothing solved the problem. Any advice....,.
What does the it say when you open the camera app?
Camera busy please restart the phone.
When factory reset doesn't solve the problem, most probably hardware related issues
I'm having similar problems, including flash light not working as well, I've seen some disassemble videos and noticed that the flash is part of the back frame, so if you remove the back cover and push down, next to the word "camera", on top of the metallic antenna strip, the flashlight will start working and camera sometimes as well, so I've ordered a T4 and T3 screw driver and I'll see if any pins are not connected properly, maybe raise a bit of the pins of the motherboard, that touch the flash contacts on the back frame and see if it fixes it
Let me know if you are still having these issues, if not, how did you fix it.
So I got the phone open and it's very weird, without the back frame removed, the camera works always and when I put it on, it stops working, so I thought that something was shorting some circuit, tried to isolate all contacts from the back frame, antennas and everything just to see it would still happen and it does, so it does not seem to be shorting anything, just the pressure of the cover seems to disable the camera, so what I did for now was add some plastic (old SIM card cut into peaces ), put it between the SIM tray and back frame and all working fine now. It's a temp fix, but it's a fix =D
Hope this can help someone with the same issue.
One more update, what I did on the above post, was only temporary, after a day, it started happening again, no camera, so went back in again, turns out this issue was being cause by the front facing camera, when I removed it, the main camera started working straight away. Now all is good, just no front facing camera which I don't really care for =P but if anyone knows where I can get one, there is a guy on eBay selling one, but £16 seems a bit much, if anyone knows where I can get a front facing camera for the Moto X Play, please let me know.
you solved it?
