[Q] Stock ICS and ICS Google Apps - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

I'm running the shiny new Stock ICS rom made available yesterday, after having come from CM9, and everything's running well.
However, I'm missing a few things from CM9, namely the stock google apps - messaging and google agenda (at least the widget). Some will tell me just to go back to CM9, but I do like having access to the S-Pen apps so as much as I like CM9, I won't be going back yet.
So, just wondering if the specific google ICS apps can be extracted and installed onto the Note's Stock ICS ROM? And if so, any hints on how to do this would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Someone tried, it force closes.

Couple questions about Cynogen and settings.

Hi, I am currently running Cynogen 4.0.4 on my rooted Mytouch 3g. I used the one-click method to root it. I also downloaded the 4.1.11.1 to my computer just incase. Do you guys think I should go to the 4.1? Is is the same? How do I upgrade and will I lose all of my apps if I upgrade?
I was also considering to just go back to stock because Cynogen got stopped. Will Cynogen ever be making new Roms? If not should I be going back to stock because I just want to have the newest features and updates but still have a fast phone.
Just one more question now about settings, I have the Hero keyboard but I activated the touch vibration when I type and now I want to disable it. Everytime I disable it I start typing and it comes back. How can I fix this? Thank you.
You can't upgrade to Cyan 4.1 at the moment as he has taken his downloads offline because of the legal dispute with Google.
I would recommend RogersRom 1.5 (see my signature) if you want a fast rom with Cyan's kernel, compcache, betterbrower etc. personally I would not go back to stock as the mods made by the devs here at xda are worth keeping.
Not sure about your keyboard vibrating ... have you enabled haptic feedback in Spare Parts? You might need to turn it off in there as well as in the touch input settings.
Haptic feedback is DISABLED so I don't know what the problem is. I will just uninstall and reinsatll the hero keyboard. And just to be sure Cynogen is done completely with roms? If so are there any other good roms besides Rogers that are not hero. And how do you install a new rom on top of the Cynogen one I have? Thanks for you help.
to change roms just wipe and flash over it. as for Cyanogen I don't think he's stopping anytime soon. check out his website..cyanogenmod.com
read his updates,
he's still in full force.
There are several ways to get the cyanogen roms =P... Just do some search =P...

push the far right button on your phone and type "Cyanogen"
install cyanogen updater for the market and it still works
Install cyanogen updater from the market and it still upload the new roms if you want cyanogen 4.1.11.1 you will have to change in the setting to display experimental roms he has a new one out but it not in cyanogen update i just did this and all my apps wallpaper and contacts are still there

Missing Market

I flashed the CM eclair build and then flashed back my donut nandroid backup. Now I dont have the Market installed. Any ideas how to get this back? I tried reflashing the latest CM donut build but that didnt work.
thanks
The latest CM donut build wouldn't include the google apps like the market because of the whole C&D debacle from months past. CM doesn't include any more google apps. The fact that you flashed his CM5 build and then back to one of his donut builds means that you shouldn't have ANY google apps. If you somehow have all of the other google apps and are just missing market, then you need to find the vending.apk and push it using adb and reboot.
in the post where you got the rom for, under the link for the rom is the link for the google addon, it is the google apps like market etc., install the zip through the recovery screen, like you did the rom itself. it caught me offguard too.
go to the forums for g1 development and its the cm 5, would you like a pony

[Q] MIUI on rooted Defy+ with BL7

Hello
I have a rooted Defy+ with bl7, and I want install MIUI for it, but if I understand, I can't install froyo kernel and for a lots of MIUI need this.
So, have you any idea to solve my problem ?
Thanks
I installed the MIUI WhiteRabbit, As the rest you need to downgrade from 2.3.6 and every downgrade instruction I tried fails miserably. I love it I had ICS 4.0.4 and it was nice but this is faster. The battery seems to drain faster though, But I only just installed juicedefender and since installing it I have been on it for ages with all the things you can change and do So I guess that is a big drainer.
If its a problem then I am sure changing the vsel will work as I am running stock. It has V6 supercharger scrip in it so that could contribute to it and shutting or changing some of that might help if its a big problem.
Its not a true MIUI from what I understand but it is fast, smooth and great looking so it could be a start or if you have any luck downgrading to froyo then go the pikachu one seems very popular.
here is the link give it a try!

Thanks, I going to install this rom
yeah I enjoy it. Only thing I found is some root apps had unexpected errors when the battery got under 21% not sure why but when I plugged the charger in they all worked again which is strange. It may be just a setting in the power department or it might of been from setvsel I am not sure I didnt like many preinstalled apps so I reinstalled it and left setvsel off so not sure if that will help.
The good thing about this is you can opt not to install the preinstalled apps and opt to install other apps for CM7 and others in there place or you could find your own apps. Which is cool as on stock roms freezing or disabling them you will get errors all the time.
Only thing is if you use excaller and excontacts dont uninstall the stock contacts or caller as they will not work. I froze them and found that out if your unsure freeze the apps first so you can restore any problems.
miui scotland is available for defy+ bl7..

Missing some games/apps, no Play Books in Google Play

I've got an 8GB Nexus 7, rooted. It's still running the factory installed ROM, though, it's just rooted. I changed the pixel density so it could be in the tablet UI, but I noticed it was missing many games and apps (namely Angry Birds and Facebook), as is the entire section for Play Books. I reverted to the standard pixel density (213), but they are still missing. How can I get these back? Do I have to do a factory reset?
Usually changing dpi messes with things like that. I suggest installing a stock rooted rom and flash the tablet ui located in the android development forum or you could flash the Kaos rom which has the option to switch from stock to tablet ui back and forth in the settings. You might want to backup your apps and their data before doing anything.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Can you direct me to or recommended a certain ROM? I'd like to keep the full tablet UI, but I'd also like to keep the tablet as stock as possible and have 100% of the features 100% working.

Here is the link for Kaos - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797117
Great rom! It gives you options while installing, through aroma installer, practically any launcher and most kernels. I recommend you choose the stock kernel and the stock launcher. Runs smooth once you let it bake. Do not install the true tablet ui with the rom because you can switch to it in settings > system>status bar and it's under general.

Thanks, I will try it out for sure. I assume you flash via CWM?
Hey, thanks for the recommendation. It's an excellent ROM, and everything's back to normal.

[Q] Stock 2.3's lockscreen on Aurora rom?

Is it possible to get stock lockscreen of 2.3 rom while using Aurora? I miss my message/calls shortcuts with counters.
Please help.
Official ICS has an application called 2d unlock which is the same style of unlock, will experiment tonight and see if it can be pulled from stock rom and put into Aurora, no promises though.
Thanks
Thanks in advance.
Does not seem to be simple apk in any of the rom dumps I have. It looks like it is in the ICS app settings, but it must be a part of something else. Will keep messing around with it
