Hi forks, I have friends was trying to download the official rom of ICS for S2, but didn't know which one to. The main problem is to check the region code.
Here is the guide:
1. open the dial screen, and dial: *#06#, and you will get your IMEI number, write it down
2. dial this command: *#272*IMEI# and you can get your Region code.
Our just dial*#1234#

*#1234# does not give you your CSC code.
The easiest way without checking and typing in the imei is to use this app.

my sim card does not work, how can i unlock the phone to all networks? i hear theres a diy tutorial. im still on android 2.1
There's an SGS Unlock Tool App is in the Market. Search and Use that.
If it works, you'll get 2 set of codes. Unlock Code and Unfreeze code. save this somewhere like your PC or notebook. Don't lose these codes okay?
Now insert your sim again and it will then ask for the unlock code, enter it and bingo!
the unfreeze code is used when your phone freezes if you try entering invalid unlock codes several times.
Hope this helps.
thanks, i'll try this when i get home
should i update to froyo 1st?

nope. try the app while you are still in eclair. the app has some issues with froyo (i think) so better unlock it while in eclair before you upgrade your firmware.
let me know what happens.
wouldn't flashing it with a custom rom remove the internal branding and limitations?

Maybe but based from what happened to me in eclair, it did not remove the sim lock.

Yes, 0's means your phone is already unlocked.
Will be something either wrong with your Sim card, or the phone has been blocked by the networks

So your friend's sim on a another network worked?
Either your sim is bad or your network blocked the phones IMEI.

I need to get the CSC for my phone and *#272*Phone’s IMEI# isn't working for me.
Wondering if I'm doing it wrong or if it just doesn't work for the i9505.

Try using *#1234#
Thanks, I used that to get the firmware versions but the csc listed there isnt three characters like I thought it would be.
So i would like to confirm it another way, also *#272* is supposed to allow you to change it which i will need to do.

I'm in the same boat. running AP: i9505XXUAME2 CP:i9505XXUAMDD CSC: i9505EVRAMDB which I think means I need to update my CSC as they don't match. I just can't find out how. http://droidviews.com/2012/how-to-change-csc-in-samsung-galaxy-phones/ That guide doesn't help as the *#272*Phone’s IMEI Here# bit doesnt work. Any help would be great as well as opinons on whether there is a CSC mismatch. I'm getting sim not inserted errors that I think are related and need to pull battery, and re-insert the sim to fix this. It then triggers again after about an hour.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I gave that app a whirl. It seemed to want to auto generate the *#272*Phone’s IMEI Here# bit automatically, but was unable and set up *#272*# on the dialer, but no more. Shame.
Edit: sorry, my bad. I tried CSC Select. Let me have a go with CSC changer

- If the phone has region lock, you will see the detailed info on the box.
- I assume that you mean regional code is CSC code, isn't it? If so install this app Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app to obtain all key info.

As not everyone knows, phone components (ex. camera) have a firmware; now, firmware updates of these components are broght to the phone with full phone firmware packages, but they are not flashed to the components.
You have to do manually from services menus.
Here's a list of what I found, please contribute, I'll try to keep th OP update:
*#2663# Touck panel and hardware keys firmware (actually hardware keys have only 1 firmware)
*#34971539# Camera firmware
What are the pros please?
The pros of updating...
BTW, updating camera firmware gives an error for me.
My carrier disabled those special commands and there is nothing I can to to make It work..

If you have the Duos version, pls try this: Disable one of the sim and work only with one sim. Do the *#06# with only one sim working and it should work. Then re-enable second sim and the secret codes works now. It happend to me after upgrading to the latest French XEF firmware.

I got once an issue where my touchscreen responsibility was really bad and updating the "TSP FW" fixed my touchscreen responsibility problem. (*#2663#) :good:
Very interesting. I didn't knew anything about this.
I also got an error trying to update the firm.
USSD codes don't work, maybe an apk removed?

When codes don't work, it's a ROM issue. You can try downloading Phone Info, than run codes from menu (option 1, root needed).

What apks are needed for the two codes in OP? If anyone can look with phone info, search the codes, and say what apks are used for that, it will be usefull for people that can't execute the codes.

I don't think it's just apk related; on XtreStoLite the codes work, but when I changed my CSC they didn't work anymore. I can run them just from Phone Info app.

It's apk related, every code come from an apk, mostly from test apks, I can't open codes from OP with phone info.

Hi,
Edit your post and remove your IMEI and S/N. Just in case to protect your device from illegal tampering or any illegal things.
Where country did you live in? Could you check your phone box for CSC code? It looks like this: GT-I9500ZWAXSE or anything similar.
Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD
Your original CSC according to IMEI is XST
Model number is GT-I9505ZKAXST

Enter the IMEI and it should return the original CSC, which will be the last three letters of the model number, e.g. O2U in I9505ZKAO2U.

Install this APP and it will give you all the info you need about your device.
@Joku1981: He was trying to discover the original CSC/country code the phone was sold under, which is why he needed to parse the IMEI. Phone Info wouldn't help in this instance because it reports the CSC/country code of the currently installed ROM.

In this case, he lost his IMEI because he has flashed other modem and needs the original CSC code. So, Phone Info will useless.

Follow the link of Strephon Alkhalikoi.
Download mode shows your original Country code, no matter what CSC you flash
Turn off your phone, then press Volume Down + Bixby Button + Power button once for 4 seconds.
A blue screen will appear saying that do not flash non original firmware, press Volume Up.
A screen will come up saying at the top "ODIN MODE".
In this screen, you have some information about your device, but the one that we are intrested is a red line "CARRIER_ID: XXX"
That ID is your CSC code, no matter what firmware you install it on. Mine is PAN - the original - even though i currently have DBT installed.
and just press Volume Down + Power key for 7 seconds to restart to normal mode.

Using it is one thing. Replying to it is another. The thread is seven years old now, and the devices themselves so old they can vote. It's extremely unlikely for this device that anyone has anything useful to add to it that hasn't already been mentioned in other threads.
