Hey guys i have this old HTC Tattoo i would like to use for a while i need to test things on.
HTC Tattoo (Orange)
S-on
1.6.61.43 custom firmware
rooted
But i have a problem, i need to get a custom ROM on it.
so far:
1. Would not accept sim unlock code
1. Rooted it once
2. used RUU_Click_Orange_UK_1.67.61.43_release_signed_NoDriver becouse it was needed to accept the simunlock code
3. Lost root, rooted it again with Universal root becouse old method didn't work anymore.
4. Everytime i tried to open recovery menu, it shows a picture with a orange triangle and the phone next to it
5. Installed ROM manager and put Clockwork, nothing.
6. Tried to back up, install rom from ROM Manager, still nothing =(
HELP D:!
Question: How do i fix it so i don't get this trinagle thing and i can go into the recovery menu
EDIT: I forgot to add, i THINK i made the SDCard a Goldcard, but i'm not sure... how do i cheak?

still no reply? kay:

answer
1. That triangle is stock recovery which isn't useful for installing custom roms.
2. You need custom recovery.
3. You need adb.
4 You can install recovery like this one click http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=950759 or manualy using cmd(adb needed).
If installing manualy: You need flash_image and recovery.img .
For cmd, commands are:
adb push recovery.img /sdcard/recovery.img
adb shell
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
exit
exit
Hope this was helpful for you
Sorry if you waited too much, I didn't have time to answer you.

I followed the instructions it didn't help, still same problem
no errors with the .exe, but no dice either
flashpermission denied with manual cmd
not enough memory on the device
in rom manager it says i have clockworkmod 5.0.2.0, might be the the problem that my phone is on orange or that it is S-on ? becouse i'm pretty sure it has custom recovery and it is rooted
i was able to root with this method before i used "RUU_Click_Orange_UK_1.67.61.43_release_signed_NoDriver" update
Now i am not able to use that root method, maybe it would have worked before i used it...
How do i downgrade or whatever from this RUU ?

Uninstall clockworkmod and return to stock recovery

sending my phone back into google, have frf91 back. need to remove clockworkmod now and install the stock recovery. googled it but no help with the current frf91, unless you can use the original shipping recovery image with it? also do you think clockworkmod might cause any concerns when they receive it if i cant figure it out? bootloader is not unlocked.
So, for some reason, I couldn't find a guide on xda...I know I saw one here...
Anyways, here you go:
http://androidspin.com/2010/05/06/guide-unrooting-your-nexus-one-its-like-it-never-happened-almost/
is there an easier way to do this if you used Rom Manager?
Nope, I don't think it's possible to flash a recovery with a recovery...(edit: there is no option in Rom Manager to select a specific recovery.img)
You might be able to do use the flash_image binary.
If you have adb setup, use: (you must have the recovery.img in the root of your sd card)
Code:
adb shell
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
Is that true for the paid Rom Manager version as well?

Annoying MyTouch 4G Reboot Freeze.

I know I read somewhere with a few people having this issue, but every time I am going into recovery, flashing or backing up, I seem to always freeze on a black blank screen. The only way out is to take the battery out and put back in and try booting with Hboot, or whatever its called when you hold volume down.
I am so annoyed with this after months and really just want any help or suggestions possible. I tried fixing permissions, wiping data and even factory reset from HBoot.
I am out of options known to me on fixing this. My last thought was to reflash the bootloader or something. I would just like to be able to reboot without having the phone freeze. Thanks in advance.

I have
Glacier PVT ENG S-OFF
HBOOT - 0.85.2007
MICROP -0429
Radio - 26.03.02.26_M
eMMC- boot
Try flashing a older recovery for the phone, then the new one. I had that problem before,I just pulled The battery an put it back in. Then it started to do the backup. It's a risky move though, wouldn't advise it. I'll try to think of a better solution

DEVICE MUST BE S-OFF AND ROOTED BEFORE CONTINUING!!
YOU MUST HAVE ADB INSTALLED, AND KNOW HOW TO USE ADB BEFORE CONTINUING, IF YOU DON'T KNOW, READ THIS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928370:
1) download the recovery image from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242901
2) rename the file to recovery.img
3) VERIFY THAT THE MD5SUM IS CORRECT (USING MAND5 APP FROM THE MARKET) IMPORTANT!!
4) move recovery.img to where ever your adb tools folder is located, EXAMPLE: C:/androidSDK/tools
5) reboot the phone into bootloader (make sure fastboot is OFF)
6) connect the phone to your computer, and your computer should recognize a fastboot device
7) type:
Code:
fastboot devices
to make sure your phone is seem by adb
8) then type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
ALTERNATIVE WAY:
1) download the recovery file
2) VERIFY MD5SUM
3) put the file in your adb tools folder EXAMPLE: C:/androidSDK/tools
4) connect the phone to computer
5) type:
Code:
adb devices
to make sure the computer sees the phone
6) type:
Code:
adb push recovery.img /sdcard/recovery.img
this will put the recovery image to your SDCARD
7) then download terminal emulator from the market (any one will work)
8) type the following:
Code:
su (hit enter)
flash_image recovery /sdcard recovery.img (hit enter)
reboot recovery (hit enter)
VIOLA! CONGRATULATIONS, YOU NOW HAVE MANUALLY INSTALLED CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY 5.0.2.0 TO YOUR HTC GLACIER!
hit the thanks button if it worked please!
Thank you very much!
My phone is OK. Thanks again

Do you have a custom recovery? If yes use adb to push a custom rom to the sdcard: adb push namerom.zip /sdcard/. If you have stock recovery try to get in fastbootmode and push a custom recovery (TWRP pr CWM) and do the above.
I assume you have root, if you don`t you have to reflash a factory image in fastbootmode from here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#occam.

Yes, that`a all. Place the rom you want to push in the platform-tools folder though or adb will not find it. It`s best to open CMD with a right click and open as administrator.

[Q] How to install kernel with ADB

Hi Everyone!
My question is can you install kernel (that is boot.img) with ADB?
I don't want responses like use SGY Toolkit (I know it can flash kernel but it does not use ADB), or use chamatht kernel restore, Kernel Backup/Restore.
I want this to be done by ADB,
because I don't want to wear and tear hardware buttons in recovery.
I have a idea, but I don't know if this works. Can someone test this and tell me?
NOOBS DON'T TRY THIS. THIS IS NOT CHILDS PLAY.
Code:
adb push boot.img /sdcard/hnk
adb shell
$ su
# stop
# dd if=/sdcard/hnk/boot.img of=/dev/block/bml7
# reboot
Can someone tell me is this proper way? Or suggest any other new working way.
Thanks in advance.

Do you know why I typed it?
There are n00bs who suggest such things. They don't bother what they type.
(This has been previously happenedd to a Recognized Developer, who used to live near my place).
So I added it so I will not get stupid notifications suggesting my own toolkit to me.
Anyway please do not post unless you have answer.

I appreciate your help.
But you have found wrong answer.
This has Fastboot.
Samsung phones are not compatible with fastboot.
In that method you need to go to bootloader menu (NOT AVAILABLE IN SAMSUNG)
In that method command is
Code:
fastboot flash [COLOR=red][U]boot[/U][/COLOR] boot.img
This flashes boot.img to boot partition (red coloured in above command)
But it is not for SGY.
Have you tried the code I have mentioned above? (OF COURSE AT YOUR OWN RISK)

maybe this is suitable
So your question was how to flash a kernel NOT how to flash a rom image, correct? The suggestions above are how to install a rom (update.zip or nandroid backup)
Here's how to flash just the kernel:
Assumptions:
- you have root
- you can use ADB
- flash_image binary is installed
- you have the kernel image you want to install on the phone already
Steps:
1). Boot phone into recovery
2). run "adb shell" to get a root shell
3). type "flash_image boot kernel.img" where kernel.img is the filename of the kernel image you want to flash
Note: you can ONLY do this via adb in recovery. Any other way will result in an error (permissions).

I have already searched shell and Android Debugging Bridge commands before asking a question in XDA Forum.
This does not work.
I think I will have to wait till someone tries my ADB commands set.
