I just using the stock kernal till now i thought of changing so can anybody tell which kernal is best for W8 that is nAa or alfs.
Thanks in advance/...
The best kernel depends on you. Try it both
We might have same phone specs but with different experiences. So you cant really rely on someone who says this is the best..For him maybe it is but for you?? Its up to you to find out. Good luck.
Yup...plus, it isn't always entirely up to you to choose what kernel you want to use...some roms (take MiniCM 3.0.1 for example) use specifically built kernels just for that one rom...so sometimes you have only one choice for the best results on said given rom
For me , best are nAa kernels , on alfs the boot and recovert enter is slow...
Sent from my X8 running nAa and D_d piece of art called MiniCM9.

Hey ,
guys what is the best ROM rigth now for SGS ( ROM + kernel )?
im looking for good battey and the fastest that can be xD
i dont care about the design
what u guys think?
the ROMs i have been told that good are
Simply Honey
CM7
what u guys think about this 2 ROMs ?
I think the best one is the stock JVP, with a fugumod kernel. Install a deodexed so you can install mods, like gtalk with video, a Gingerbread theme and you're good to go!

i dont like the stock ROM
but what if i will flash that kernel with simply honey rom?
its may work or its will make a problems?
Try juwe you won't regret
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
juwe's with semaphore kernel
(ROM) GingerCriskelo V7x
[KERNEL] DarckCore 2.7.3
2gether are flyin'
I'm using the Simply Honey since 3.5 but the last one 3.6.1 is very nice and stable.
@Elia: just try some ROMs and you'll find your favourite one.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Go for what's in my signature.. And i've tried lots of gingerbread.
juwe rom + dark core kernel for me. fast n nice theme
Tweaky's ROM, DarkCore kernel, Gingerbread launcher from Market. Best combination for me. Fast, stable and nice looking (stock glass screen, stock Gingerbread theme, 3D app drawer).
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S running Tweaky's ROM with XXJVP Gengerbread
The best rom that i've just found for my SGS after 2 months is:
Rom: RomKitchen jvp (all the basic stuff, you don't need all the crappy things for Samsung) with Modem JVP
Kernel: Semaphore_kernel_JVP_1.2.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112908).
New drivers, compatible with Tegra: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087427).
I removed for caution software update process.
I OC'ed my phone to 1200 mhz and works very well. Only one freeze in 5 days.
The Quadrant score is ~ 2200 - 2750. (i know it's irrelevant but i had to mention about this)
The phone is really fast - i can compare with CM7.
The battery life is very very good.
Take a try and tell me if you like it.

agreed dont know how everyone can say get gingerbread when it has bugs that are not in 2.2.1..
there is a battery drain bug .. may be fixed in 2.3.4 not sue
there is a non working vpn bug over 3g
there is a non working adhoc wifi supplicant
bug
non of these bugs are in 2.2.1
also my favorite kernel for 2.1.1 is speedmod.. i gut almost 3 days of battery.

Don't forget that while CM7 is a fully independent ROM, and MIUI is based on CM, all the others are based on stock.
So by taking a clean deodexed stock and patching it, you can get exactly what you want - but not the crappy themes and buggy mods we often find in stock - based ROMS.
Actually the best ROM is probably the one yoi generate from the kitchen, but I don't know if JVP is available yet.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I've tried various gingerbread stock roms and found JPJV6 the fastest and energy saver
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Goatrip 2.0 for me, best ROM by far & I've been through a few
there is no one "BEST ROM" the question is what you looking for.
some have more battery time and some look better than the others.
so like isaid, the question is what you need and want
JVP with Tegrak under ONEnand Mode I suppose.

there are no such best ROM, but features u wanna have on custom ROMs. U need to know what is ur preference then choose ur own custom ROM.
Speed? definately CM7 but its still on beta.
Speed and features? Juwe's but a bit dull on the black and white.
SGS 2 apps? Tweaky ROM
Kernel? I suggest Talon 1200. Still on dev but still gives best performance and battery saving.
had darky, cyanogen, and now i'm trying Ryyu's EDB
i want the latest rom... like you not stock
Ok, I just realized (again, and until the next time) that Froyo Pro is the best choice for me..
But I will miss custom kernel.. I tried Alfs once, and it was all right but WiFi was not working at all. Copying Wifi libs from GDX didn't help
Can someone re-make Alfs kernel to make it work on FroyoPro? (some ramdisk changes and wifi fix)
I would be grateful... and I'm sure many others..
+1

+1............
It could be done but kernel should be made from cm6 core.because all kernels for x8 are made from cm7(gingerbread) core.like alfs, gdx, fxp kernel,nAa...so it would be hard, because fxp gave sources only for cm7 kernel, and most of our kernels are based on fxp kernel source.

nice. ....
Its preety easy.We just need to compile kernel from se source and everything should work even on eclair.
I will try and report.

oh god im waiting for Custom Kernel on Froyo sooooooooo much
and also if im on gingerbead and for example Alfs kernel when im by clockwork install custom zip with froyo i need to change kernel to stock right?
yeap, i love froyo pro and i also love alf's kernel, especially it's OC, i get by far the best results with it, fully stable 787 mhz with smartass v2 i just wish i could combine the 2.
yes yes yes +1 for a kernel for froyo
if we compile those kernels with the same Ramdisk that we have in Stock kernel, probably it should work better in Eclair and Froyo roms, right?
flash this in cwm and you will have working alfs + wifi on froyo pro
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20191172&postcount=490
Is this confirmed to work? TIA

I'm running Paul ics with Alfs v08 cm7
But the audio has not as much bass as with nAa,
I flashed nAa and then what ,
After 4 hours , phone restarted, then again after a couple of hours m listening to music with loudspeaker and !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Phone restarted unexpectedly.
And no problem with Alfs.
Okay and what you need ? Alfs is better for pauls ICS but there is one thing...i read somewhere that paul never finish ics and never release v03 etc. :-( i dont know if its true i only heard about it
But if it is true its only on you what kernel you change and bass or no try install Beats Audio or some player with equalizer as PowerAMP , PlayerPro etc...

The best it's the nAa 11
The best kernel it's the nAa 11 kernel ;D
Some people here are appreciating nAa ,
I want to ask a question to them that, how many times their phones restarted at 787MHz while daily using ???
Both kernel are amazing.
If you using GingerDX, u should use Alfs kernel for GDX.
Of you using MiniCm by NAa, then u should use the nAa kernel.
On every rom's thread, the developers wrote that wich rom is the better for their rom.
Now I'm using PrimeHD, with Alfsv8. It's a powerful combo

I flashed nAa kernel again and my phone never restarted with custom kernel. And yes Alfs and nAa are amazing Kernels but for ICS is better Alfs (Better performance, etc...) But if you using MiniCM7 or PrimeHD or other CM7 based ROM better is nAa. And 787MHz I am using daily and i have no problem with restart or other bugs. If you have some problems try reflash kernel or ROM with new kernel
NAa kernel by far

Alfs v8 is stable at highier OC settings and I am currently using it. If it weren't for the OC i would have used nAa kernel.
I've used nAa since i bought my phone and even with 806mhz never had a reboot as daily use

Pls suggest any one, best gaming custom Rom for stock kernel, real football lagging my current fde Rom I overclocked but same probblem

I can assure you that best kernel for gaming is ALFS v08 GDX without FPS-cap.
Although I'm using Lewa ROM and Fruit Ninja is running as like in Galaxy S2
But i can't proof-fully say that it is best!!!

Agree
GDx + ALFS is reportedly the best combination.
Also , next time make sure you post your questions in the Q&A thread instead of the General thread.
!!!!!!!!!!
he needs rom for stock not kernal

+1, you're right.
But also depends on the games,
For AngryBirds, for example - stock seems to be the best....
But now, after I tested this: Lx-XGin v7 - is the BEST!

try by yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GingerDX v28b + alfs v8a in my opinion . The advantage of GDX is that it's still developed, it's stable, fast and rather bug-free

Gps bug or pointing bug?
Because gps works for me, and for pointing fix search " LibSensors_patch_for_MiniCM-7.zip"
MV3 + stock kernel, hahaha.

Gingerdx is fastest but alfs has a lot of bugs (lags 2d, if you try to play fruit ninja on alfs you can see a lot of lags). All other roms (99%) are based on minicm and has not big difference. I am now using presto by haka, witch is a good minicm build. As a result there are two roms Gingerdx and minicm. Find the best for you...
Coming to XDA and asking which is the best rom is like going to a bar full of drunks and asking whats a good drink here..
