So the evo update that came out a couple days ago, was updated to include sprints connection thingy. Very interested to know if this can be incorporated or ported to work for us. I use juice defender when not at home and this sounds like a sprint replacement of that app basically. Interested to see how it works out.

The old palm pre had a similar homebrew app that did this. It worked pretty well; however, it took a toll on the battery because GPS and other location services were on constantly.

Looking at the womans epic which also got this in the last update, there aren't much for options, looks like everything is pretty much automatic. Its not a seperate app, its actually built into the system settings under mobile networks. Looks like this is being pushed to all/most devices so I wouldn't be supprised at this point if sprint comes out with another update for us to include this. I'm going to keep an eye on her connections and see if I can notice it working and how well.

This polls your location every so often, not a constant update on location. Also uses cell location, not just gps. Sprint has included this as a battery saver as well as a connection optimizer. Controls 3g, 4g, and wifi.

Truthfully, I don't think that many developers truly tried to port 2.3 to us. Supercurio got that test demo out, but no one ever put out a legitimate ROM. And if we have to rely on Samsung... Well, lets just get used to having Froyo.

No it's a work in progress. If it was ready believe me you would know.
I've been using it for less than a day, but no show stoppers if you know what you're doing. phone works, mms/sms work, wifi can cause kernel panics if it falls asleep (just set to never sleep)... you can thank atinm and the cmsgsteam for it, but CM7 is VERY MUCH SO on the way and in progress

also, I already see this as going to be my daily driver at this point. the only "problems" I've seen are listed above (oh and the camera doesn't work quite yet, can't actually snap photos, just FC's on trying... but barcode scanner works)
not to mention the battery life is about 10% an hour on light usage
im hoping for the best and would love a solid release. I wish I knew more so I could help :/

Been my daily for 2 weeks.
If anyone is prepared to do some work the rom is there. Just don't show up and ask how to install Linux, what is terminal etc. You need to be self sufficient, its not a simple cwm flash.

If you make a phone sized AVD from the honeycomb SDK, you get a very functional phone ROM. Looks very similar to gingerbread.

My build will take pictures, you just have to hold down the button and let it focus first. Otherwise, it will FC.

It really doesn't look like CM devs couldn't care less about the SGS.
So I just thought of something. I'm always flashing no matter where I'm at...church,school,mall,toilet..etc..
And I just was at the hospital...for burning my eyes with UV light (long story) and couldn't open my eyes for 3 hours..but as soon as I could I found myself flashing the latest cm7 nightly in the er... now that's dedication .. just thought it was kinda humorous and was curious where others had found themselves flashing in strange places..?

On topic: Usually at work (parts dept. at Honda dealer). I fashioned a nice little stand out of two pieces of radiator hose so my phone sits and about a 15 degree angle in portrait. Chrome to phone and dropbox make it so I don't have to bring my usb cable to work!

I was recently at a hospital in Florida for my wife's grandmother. Anyway we were got their at 3 am and I seen a new nightlie at 7am or so. I could connect to the WiFi at the hospital but the router blocked the download I had to go to the top floor and find a empty room to stand by the window and download via 3G
My works (DirecTv) WiFi also blocks the downloads of cm nightlie/stable

i hate sense, is there any way to kill it with froyo? i like the look of the stock ui better.
Only option is to download a 3rd party launcher like ADW or LauncherPro. Deleting the Sense launcher would cause a bunch of problems considering the framework depends on Rosie if I'm not mistaken.

I agree; the thread title is pretty clear as to the topic of discussion.
Loaded it on the wife's Slide. Download speeds from HTC were truly absurd; took 3 hours to get the necessary files. I flashed chiefz version of this when I was still using the Slide ... I found the leaked ROM to be sluggish compared to 2.1 stock; I've found the 2.2 official update to be virtually identical to chiefz version - a bit sluggish. I definitely like having the wireless "hotspot" on her un-rooted slide; helps to share our two 5gb data plans wirelessly. I tried to move a few large apps to sd (Froyo a2sd) and apps that should be able to be moved were not able to be moved and I'm unsure if that's due to not having root. HTC sync and bluetooth have turned on by themselves after I disabled them in settings ... very odd. My wife doesn't seem care one way or the other but I'm a root user so I have a different take on things. The bottom line is it keeps the system as it always has been and adds some useful features. It appears some bugs were fixed from the release notes but I have a suspicious feeling a whole new set of bugs may crop up. With all the time that has passed I believe HTC could have done a better job. Hoping the wife is is happy with it because I will never hear the end of it if she prefers the old stock ROM. Ok guys, so ive been getting a lot of request to update Xplod rom for the 4G, i know i said i was working on an update a few months back and i was and got one but i had some personal issues popup all at once so i had to stop for a bit. So here is what i plan on doing.
Releasing a new rom with the Xpria Style, Look & feel.

New mods
And very fast and stable, working MMS, 4g, ect...
