So i was messing around with my X8 and i was thinking why S.E. din't give the X8 autofocus , and then i got an idea how to shoot macro videos and Pictures.

To shoot macro Videos and Pictures you'll need only 1 item: Magnifying glass. Just put the magnifying glass near the X8's camera and done, try it!

No its just that i doubt many will be walking around with a magnifying glass with their X8's...unless they're real Instagram enthusiasts
It does't have to be a magnifying glass. Also isn't it a bit helpful?
Yeah, but I'd be much happier if SE wasnt such dicks about our camera in the 1st place

think I need an additional lens for image quality
me think what spevky point is someone could make an accessory like back cover with magnifying glasses on camera holes

Not to pile on you or anything, but your lens appears to be smudged a bit. A macro shot should be far, far clearer than that, with any camera.
Try giving it a clean with a cloth.

I think there is a quality drop here
I remember someone pointed out a quality drop after root or the 23 firmware upgrade and I have just noticed the guy might be right.
the glasses pic was taken earlier before root on the 16 firmware.
the markers took just now after root with the 23 firmware.
the markers pic appears to have too much noise reduction and less details.

The Z1 is waterproof not water resistant. Waterproof = fully submerge in water and no water will get in. A water resistant phone will survive say splashes of water but if you fully submerge it, it will malfunction.
Also the scratches you speak about on the screen is the anti-shatter film protector not the glass itself.
Sent from my C6906 using xda app-developers app
Sonys website claims that z1 is waterproof but if you check the manual you can read there that its water and dust resistant.
Then if you damage your phone with water, they will say that water damage is not covered by warranty.

Forum Rules
I suggest you stick to rules 7 and 13.
Here's an additional pro-tip for you, Louie: If you are going to review products, don't write articles about patio workspace and every single Apple product you own. It just gets back to showing you are an Apple fan and extremely biased. XDA isn't the place for you or your attempts to glean page views. Just like twelvesouth.com isn't for us... Ciao.

Maybe you can show me how to write a review, even though I have written for Notebook Review, Brighthand, TabletPCReview, etc for about 10 years, I would be happy to read yours and fr you to give me more pro-tips :highfive:
Just because I write about Apple products doesn't mean I am biased. I also write about Android so does that make me biased on Android as well? Where is it written that I can't own a MacBook and a Nexus 5 at the same time? Or have a Windows gaming rig as well as an iPad?
If the MODs want to close this thread, they are welcome to do so and I apologize in advance for violating the rules. Last time I checked you aren't a MOD.
Anyway, just to get back on topic - I am really excited about the upcoming update for the Z1. Like I mentioned earlier, if it fixes the camera issues, then this product will be a winner.

I have to agree with you that the superior auto mode isn't very good. But if you understand photography and use the manual mode. You'd be able to take the best pictures for a android phone. There are quite a bit of options to play around with compared to the limited options of the Nexus 5.
You can tell by your review you do not have a very good understanding of this phone.
However, most camera photographers want to just pull their phone out and take a decent photo without having too much thought and effort put into it in which the iPhone and Nokia Lumia do a great job of.

Really, well you obviously dont really know jack diddly about photography as the Lumia has a nice array of camera settings that would benefit tweaking in most scenarios, just like any other camera phone or any camera for that matter.

it's been said many times to go with manual as SA isn't mature yet.
On one occasion it takes an excellent shot of spam, eggs and rice. It looks utterly fantastic and damn I am hungry right now even looking at this. Colors, contrast, white balance is all perfect with no post processing from me at all.

You like this. ISO 50, 1/399s, scn mode : landscape
But you don't like this. ISO 160, 1/64s, SA
You say..
And here we have a plate of Mongolian BBQ, on a different day, similar lighting situation and the picture looks dark, colors are off and has a lot of unnecessary noise. I don’t get it.
Click to collapse
- Only thing similar is there is a half hour time difference so you would expect similar light at that time of the day but the ISO is three times higher and the shutter speed is 6 times slower. The camera saw a darker subject and compensated with slower shutter and higher iso so it's not similar lighting. These two weren't even taken in the same location.
- Looking at the two photos, the first was taken in landscape SCN mode. why did you choose that scn mode for a food shot ?The second one has no scn mode set so its a SA one.
- Where is the noise in that second picture ?An ISO 160 does not give much noise. Start pushing 800 and you will see it much more. There is no camera shake in either shot.
If the shot does not come out right then experiment with the modes. Or exposure compensation, you will need this in darker or very bright situations. You can get that shot to be brighter with a lower iSO but you will need to rest you hands on something to get a blur free shot.
Remember that low light shots of still life are easy, relatively speaking. Moving subjects in low light are a lot harder.
Here’s a link to photos I took with the Xperia Z1 posted on Flickr: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjNvQniV
And just for fun, you can compare it with photos taken with the Note 3: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjNvQxN5

Unfortunately you have not taken the same pictures in the same lighting conditions with both cameras, so a random sample of one compared with an equally random sample of another does not tell us much.
In areas where I know the iPhone 5S or even the Galaxy Note 3 won’t struggle, the Xperia Z1 disappoints with poor white balance and contrast.
I would go picture by picture with you at full resolution but it would take way too much space on this blog. If I reduce the photos to a lower resolution, then of course they will look better but it won’t really tell the truth about the camera!

Pls do go picture by picture, there is no space limitation here
Lighting is key in photography, lower light can trick the camera to pick the wrong WB.
I'm going to buy the Xperia Z5 in a neighboring country. Arrived and the store owner sent me photo confirming that Rev 4! The Rev 4 is suffering from blur in the camera? It is software or hardware problem?
Rev 2 seems to be the best right now.. I haven't seen one in the thread that suffers from Camera Blur.

Blur, and uneven blur is lens alignment issue, and mine has strong blur on the left, right has normal lens fall off blur.
This may not be normal! It is a hardware problem for sure!
Well I'm going to chime in that on my rev 4 I'm not seeing any blur. But I prefer to shoot in 4x3 anyway.

Sure. Here's a few I took today. Took in wide so you can see the far edges. There seems to be a tiny bit on the left but it looks about even with the right so I'm hesitant to say it's the problem. If it is, it's quite minor to some other ones I've seen.

Hi Guys,
I purchased the Galaxy S7 Edge from Uae and now I am back in my hometown.
unfortunately my phone is only a month old and i just noticed that the front camera is misaligned by 1mm or so, you can see more of the black ring and the lens of the camera is more towards the right.
Although the camera works perfect and there are no problems, should i be worried?
I am extremely worried as the phone has no warranty in my country .

Thank God that is such a relieve as I don't have warranty support in my country and if i go to a service center they are known to rip customers off by selling unwanted parts especially to phones without warranty.
Is this normal, I saw this on other devices and some were aligned correctly?
Could you please share a picture of your device if possible?

But if you look at the black trim you can see where on the buttom of the camera it has more space then the top as its off center

It's not water its a reflection on lens. Unfortunately, heat will not help.
It's in the design of the lens hardware of the camera, how light reflects around the inside of the lens case at a certain angle. Much like the original Pixel had lens flare, its essentially a design feature(flaw) although some phones will have it more and some none at all (people with the iPhone 11 have been complaining about it a bit)There's nothing you can do about it except know its there and try and shoot so it doesn't affect the photo. I also get it badly from street lights at night from a certain angle.
You can see it here in this video at 55sec and 2.13
