Please, someone update this forum with info on the Xperia X1 release dates before my wallet jumps out and buys a Touch Pro by accident.

It could well be that we get our X1s Q3. So don't go for raphael just yet! The january of next year could be just a plan b, and SE dont want to promise anything they could not keep anymore. I guess they will start shipping to operators and shops quite soon!

Ratio of ODM handsets was told to rise later this year, because of X1. If those marketing people can be trusted, it should be ready both-wise (soft/hardware).

Most of the pages i have seen are saying release date September or Mid-September.
So i guess we are all gonna have to wait for at least a month.. (Thank god.. if it came out in 2009 i would be able to get it with my T-mobile account..)

Presumably unlike other HTC phones which are customised heavily by the network the xperia should be as sony intended?

No,i will be in Pune on 17th,then to Mumbai with 1 of my friend.
Both of us are going for SGS 2,as per now the dealer has confirmed 1.2Ghz+Super Amoled Plus version.But the final price he is saying might go to Rs 32,000 also but then as two of us are going for it,we are quite confident of the deal for Rs 30,000

I would appreciate it if you would post some pics after the purchase. Ill take a trip down to Mumbai as well.

my thoughts exactly. a big authorized retailer would not risk the reputation and the relationship with Samsung by selling a phone [under the table?] prior to the official release date. But I have never been to India, may be it is standard practice there

Not really comparable. Nexus One was already available as from January 2010 in some countries, so maybe it was an import model I don't know...

Well, about that video. Damn that screen is nice!! I have been waiting for a vid to really show off the screen, this does it. Those blacks, omg!

Was it just me or was the Quadrant score in that video less then the one in the image posted a couple of days ago. It might be due to the processor speed or something else.

They might have the 1Ghz version.
I was thinking the same, I believe the score was 2500 vs the posted image of 3000.

Hmm. I thought so too but one of the responses in the YouTube video says that it was a 1.2Ghz model.

Perhaps running apps in the background might make a difference.

people like me any many other will wait for a few months until its prices goes down, i always buy a slightly used set, came from abbroad, i can save a lot of money like this.

i c that shophive have it for 59k but homeshopping offering it for 80k ... i have one x at the moment dont know if i should go for gs 3 or not... by the way htc one x is for 54k currently...

this isn't the actual official price.Even the GNexus first came here at 80k, now its 38k ($422) which is almost about 10k cheaper than the SII.

Homeshopping's quoted price is for 16GB not 64GB. Same will be true for shophive I guess.
Also, GNex couldn't compete well with S2... neither in market nor development. I hardly think S3's price trend will follow GNex's because of immense hype around S3 (S2 after a year of its launch has come down to PKR 40k mark)!

Yup you are right. Initial price always packs some premium for hype. Price will come down but may take some time.

That a great truth, but the possibilitys doesn't exist. If we got a little bit of lucky, is an ICS 4.0 update, the one that already exist but never came out. But is almost for sure a GB update.
Remember that Sony doesn't care about the people, but the money. They are able to do a perfect JB update for the Play, fully functional, but they need to force people to buy new Xperia models, so they wont do it.

Also if I recall I thought I remember Sony saying that since the ics didn't make it the play then they would release a updated 2.3.7 with some ice cream goodies.

you think that Sony, at this point would bother to get an update for Xplay GB? , And I think CM9 still not 100% functional, because until this day still taking corrections. And as much as it is, do not forget that not everyone has the unlocked bootloader. So, if that is an upgrade to ICS, will be very ultil people with locked BL.

yeah we know , but CM9.1 is not stabler yet , not touch pad support ., camera error ( sometimes )
surely , this update is a ICS , a GB doesn't worth as a new update ... markphyton has said this before ( they want to deploy a IC update for xperia play )

It wont if someone out there is still has a R800i Play with locked bootloader (We have 1 ready). If released to the public someone (or us) will make a FTF file to flash over any FW.

No, I trust this unconfirmed report from this highly respected source, I will bleat like a ****ing child when I don't get Touchwizzed 4.2.2 by June and I will let you all know of my anger in multiple threads on this and many other forums on XDA posting constructive commentary such as "**** Samsung" and "I'll never buy a Samsung device as my favourite Dev said so" and then I'll go out and order the S4.

I think 4.2.2 for s2 next month is very possible. If not official, maybe a leak.
I'm really curious, what new android 5.0 will give us.

In june will be galaxy s3 updated to 4.2.2, i doubt they will update s2 at the same time, maybe we get a leak in june, but i dont hope for more until 9th month.

For s3 there is a leaked 4.2.2 version thats almost identicaly to s4 (sammobile.com) hope we will get it

Just because the S3 is getting an update doesn't necessarily mean the S2 will get upgraded to 4.2.2.
Besides, I've heard that all the Samsung execs are that upset over the S2 "**** Samsung" crowd that they've decided that the next official update will brick the phone when flashing and using CWM factory reset.

Will this be the best rom ever? When is the exact release date? I wanna know it, and I think you people know more than Samsung itself, so that's why I'm asking.
Also give me download links and flashing-instructions right now. And how to root my device? I don't post a screenshot because you have to tell me what kind of firmware I have.
