are you s-off? you need to be to change system fonts from phone or app. I just rename the fonts I want to use to DroidSans.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf copy and paste using a root file manager into system, font and reboot.
p.s clocktopia is your lockscreen clock font so renaming any font to Clocktopia.ttf and doing same as above will change clock lockscreen font.

if you are try it manually, the app should have downloaded the font to your sd card. find it and copy it to /system/font then rename it to overwrite the old ones and set permissions.
Alternatively, try a different font installer. i use absolute system tools and it works flawlessly on every rom i tried.

I started this thread as a reference to everyone on how to change the system fonts for Android builds (both Sense and Cynogenmod based).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are methods that I know of :
1. Via Recovery Console which is not yet possible on present Android builds as we are running this off SD Cards and not NAND.
2. Via copying to specific directory on the SD Card and then booting Android. I found this the simplest and using this method.
3. While running Android, unmounting system, replacing font files and remounting /system. This method almost always gives me a error during remount of /system...dont know why
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have attached 2 fonts and how to convert your own is simple as illustrated below.
Android Font Folder :
(Your Android Folder on SD Card)\root\system\fonts
e.g. SDCARD\Android\root\system\fonts
Android System Font Names :
DroidSans.ttf
DroidSans-Bold.ttf
DroidSansFallback.ttf
DroidSansMono.ttf
DroidSerif-Bold.ttf
DroidSerif-BoldItalic.ttf
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
So all that is required is copy your favorite fonts to a temporary location on your PC and rename/make copies according to the above names (self- explanatory).
Copy these files to the font folder as illustrated above. Create the folder if it doesn't exist (like Sense builds).
Boot away Android !!
PS : I have tested both Calibri and Nokia font on the Desire HD build and it looks sweet
Nice. Thanks for the easy tutorial. You do not happen to have any screenshots of the fonts in action do you?
Thanks for a very simple easy to use tutorial

Not sure if it will work on these builds given that they are booting from WinMo but it would be worth a try. Download Typefresh, and Andexplorer from market. Open type fresh, grant superuser permission, make backup of current fonts, then click on font that you want to change from list. Andexplorer will open, navigate to folder that you have placed new fonts in and check appropriate font. Click apply fonts, reboot when prompted (this is where there could be a problem i think) and once rebooted your new fonts are installed. Works like a charm on Android phones ive had in past, including this current phone.

Hi, I copied the folder fonts to root/system via usb in windows mode.
After that I ran the Android as usual. But I didn't find any difference in font.
DroidSans.ttf
DroidSans-Bold.ttf
DroidSansFallback.ttf
DroidSansMono.ttf
DroidSerif-Bold.ttf
DroidSerif-BoldItalic.ttf

It does work as I tried it after reading another thread about fonts in Android here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717548 and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=797533. My question is, in one of those threads and mentions only needing to change the DroidSans-Bold.ttf and DroidSans.ttf. But, VBN says to change all listed in the first post. I guess my question is which one ensures all fonts are changed??
From what I have gathered till now....DroidSans.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf are the most used but if others are not changed you may get artifacts in some part of dialogs, etc...
I am not 100% sure but those fonts are definitely there in stock ROMs
Ok, that's kind of what I was figuring. I mean, they wouldn't just be there for nothing. Not to mention, if you use Type Fresh to change fonts, it gives you the option to change the other font names you mentioned. But, you're not forced to. Actually, I loaded a font and it I guess Android didn't like it. So, it wouldn't finish booting. So, I had to copy one of your fonts into system...to get it to boot again. Just a tip for those that one to try Type Fresh and other fonts found around the forum.
Thanks VBN & Kwill for the font tips....

hey guys, im running rc7 also s-off but i have never been able to find the local folder... anytime i enter data/ its empty...
ive tried with different file managers but still empty.
any ideas?
not sure, but
I use cyanogenmod 7 rc2 (gingerbread) and had to put my bootanimation.zip to system/media/bootanimation.zip
Perhaps you've to put it there too, because the roms are very similar.
try it.

How can you add audio at boot? I mean were to put the file?
I copied an mp3 (that I used with another rom as a boot audio) into /system/media/ but nothing happened.
Alternate method to flash Boot Animation without PC
There is an alternate method to change the Boot Animation for HTC Desire without computer section for abd push.
1. Download Boot Animation Changer Lite, it needs Root.
2. Launch and Choose Change Animation
3. Select any Animation from the list and Install it
4. It'll backup the Stock animation in sdcard\bootanimStock folder as bootanimation.zip
5. Using any File Manager - Astro or Root replace the bootanimation.zip with the desired boot animation file (make sure you name the file as bootanimation.zip)
6. Relaunch the application
7. Choose Advance Settings
8. Select Restore Stock animation and reboot
9. You'd see your desired Boot Animation running
Cheers!!!
Good to know!

This is a troubleshooting method in case someone drops here and get all squares after rebooting:
You need to fix the permissions from root explorer. Just do this:
1- go to /system/fonts and long touch any original rom font (other than the one you copied) until the menu appears.
2- touch permissions
3- note the permissions (!!!DO NOT CHANGE THEM!!!)
4- close the menu and now take a look at the name of your ttf (the one that you copied) to ensure android didn't change its name when you first copied it. This happened once for me.
5- Repeat (1-3) this time on your copied file, this time DO change the permissions to match those noted in 3
5- close everything and reboot.
6- Do let me know if this fixed your problem.
Hey Guys ,
I know that there are ways to change font for rooted android ,
I tried Fixfont and ifont
However ifont shows error 7 when i change font and fixfont changes the font but only the basic fonts but others as clock , notification panel, status bar, launcher , etc there fonts are not changed any one can solve this issue...
Sorry for bad english
If your phone already rooted, you can change it manually using file explorer.
That's what I do with my phone.
Just navigate to system/fonts and replace all the files listed below to change the font including clock, notification panel, etc. Set the permission to rw-r-r
AndroidClock
DroidSans-Bold
DroidSans
Roboto-Black
Roboto-BlackItalic
Roboto-Bold
Roboto-BoldItalic
Roboto-Italic
Roboto-Light
Roboto-LightItalic
Roboto-Medium
Roboto-MediumItalic
Roboto-Regular
Roboto-Thin
Roboto-ThinItalic
RobotoCondensed-Bold
RobotoCondensed-BoldItalic
RobotoCondensed-Italic
RobotoCondensed-Light
RobotoCondensed-LightItalic
RobotoCondensed-Regular
Backup all your files and fonts first in case of something happens, and make sure the font weight are same before you trying to replace it. (i.e replace Roboto-Bold with Bold font).
I'm not responsible if your device bootloop or softbrick.

Btw, all the previous font that I used doesn't have all the mentioned files. I just make a copy of the files with the same weight and renamed it. For example, Roboto-Bold, DroidSans-Bold, and RobotoCondensed-Bold is all the same files. Only with different name.
for rooted phone please try fonster app its working super fine, ifont throws some error 7. when changing the fonts.
