download "font changer" from market.
- instal
- run it
- close the program
- you will get ".fontchanger" folder in your sdcard, put the font that you want to instal in your android
- run fontchanger, and choose the font.
thanks for the help, will try it now.

copy your font.ttf file and rename it to DroidSans.ttf and replace /system/fonts/ by your font via rootexplorer v then restart

This is a troubleshooting method in case someone drops here and get all squares after rebooting:
You need to fix the permissions from root explorer. Just do this:
1- go to /system/fonts and long touch any original rom font (other than the one you copied) until the menu appears.
2- touch permissions
3- note the permissions (!!!DO NOT CHANGE THEM!!!)
4- close the menu and now take a look at the name of your ttf (the one that you copied) to ensure android didn't change its name when you first copied it. This happened once for me.
5- Repeat (1-3) this time on your copied file, this time DO change the permissions to match those noted in 3
5- close everything and reboot.
6- Do let me know if this fixed your problem.

Being one to never stop changing the look of any of my Android devices I wondered how to change the system font on my Tab. First result was the ability right within the system settings app itself, but more clicking on "Get more fonts" ended up with only pay options. My Tab is rooted with z4 so I though why not see if I can just swap out the files. A simple install of Root Explorer and some file renaming later I had a new font installed on my Tab that even sticks through reboot. Here is how I did it (quite simple really):
Requirements:
- A Galaxy Tab of course, rooted
- Root Explorer, paid market app or other means if you are so inclined
- Your new font in TrueType format on your sdcard with the needed ttf's for regular and bold (eg YourFont-R.ttf and YourFont-B.ttf, etc)
Steps:
1 - Using root explorer, navigate to /system/font and rename DroidSans.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf (I just append ORIG to them)
2 - Still in that directory click the button "Mount as r/w" just under the notify bar on your screen
3 - Navigate back to where your new font is and copy the regular and bold ttf files to /system/fonts
4 - Rename each ttf file as DroidSans.ttf for regular fonts and DroidSans-Bold.ttf for bold fonts
5 - Go to Settings > Display > Set Font and set if to Default
NOTE If Default is already your selected font, select another font and apply then reselect Default and apply and your new font should be visible.
Your new font should now be used as the on screen display font. For reference my Tab is a Bell version and I used the attached font (Ubuntu font) as my new font.
Hope this helps some people.
Cheers
Thanks! Will try this out on my Sprint Tab later.
Any luck finding a way to do it without actually replacing the font? Surely if it allows market download of fonts then you can just add new ones and update some list somewhere...

I didn't fully replace the original font as I renamed the original files. This is the way I was able to use the built in font switching tool without spending money on font packs. Only drawback for me is that the font list will only ever be 2 fonts for me, Default and Helvetica Neue Something. I originally changed it as I really like the Ubuntu font on my Desire and wanted to sue it on the Tab.
Or just grab any font apk from this thread!

Create a new folder on sdcard (fonts) under that folder create 2 more 1) original 2) custom fonts or (what ever fonts u r using) go back to system/fonts and copy the original and save them on sdcard/original now download the fonts to (custom folder created)
Copy the fonts go to system/fonts and paste (Before you do this write the permissions )
After you paste change the permissions and you are done
Now go to display / fonts and/ change them to default
Happy fonting lol

I'm not sure I follow your explanation here. Is there a way to just add fonts to the font folder and they show up?

Hi the option to paste the font folder seems lost when I am opening the sd card ? Which program are you using to paste it into? Also I tried the first suggestion, renaming the fonts, but it says ...system file is read only? Your help is much appreciated.
Many thanks Devarsi

I am trying to change the Icon using Ninja Morph. I did exactly what the tread on "how to NinjaMorph" but it does not work.
It seems like I can change the color on the Icon's but it will not let me change out the Icon.
Here is what I did.
I start with New Project
go System than App
than I go the the app that I want to change the Icon
open Res, than Drawable-hdpi, tap the icon I want to change.
Than it opens a folders
I go to the folder with the Icon that I want to replace it with
I click on the Icon that I want use.
After that I exit
than I go to Finish Project,
It as me to confirm Action and couple of other question after.
I reboot the phone and the icon is not change.
What am I missing?
Note: I already did review the tread "how to ninjamorph" and it seem like I am doing everything correctly. The only thing is that the tread says that phone should reboot automatically and mine doesn't. I reboot manually.
When I change the icon color on "edit icon", it works fine.
By the way, I already have busybox installed.
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
What's the app?

There are some system apps that just wont take. Does the app disappear from the drawer after you edit it? If not then its not taking the change. Be wsue youre changing the png as they normally have a couple pngs that look the same but only one is the icon.
Have you tried manually replacing them?
I tried many different apps. I can edit the icon by changing colors but it will not let me replace icon.

When I edit the icon, it would disappear but when I reboot the phone, app will reappear. The only thing is that I have to mount the app in the system. Once I edit the app it was not reinstall with app manager. In other words I have to mount the application directly into the zip folder for the system then reinstall the theme or the rom.

I've had some experience with ninja morph not always accepting my changes. After you open your project, use astro to go to sd/androidthemes/workspace. Copy paste the files using astro and then go to ninjamorph and finish the project. Then I use root explorer to paste the app in system/app. Install it (sometimes says fail but it works) then change the permissions and reboot. Just match the permissions list with any other app in system/app as they're all the same. Then reboot. Hope this helps.

What do you mean by changing the permission? Also, can you be little bit more specific with instructions? I am fairly new to all this.
Also, is there a way I can try to change the icons with my computer? Is there a program or an app out there that works like a Ninja Morph for the desktop?

I actually use picsay on the phone to make small edits to the icons. I then pull them from my sd to my pc to convert the jpeg back to png and insert them. But you can also use photoshop to edit images/create your own. Theg have to be the correct size.
I gave up. I just decided to use Better Cut. I never knew/realized you can customize icons on your phone with icon.

ive tried with different file managers but still empty.
any ideas?
not sure, but
I use cyanogenmod 7 rc2 (gingerbread) and had to put my bootanimation.zip to system/media/bootanimation.zip
Perhaps you've to put it there too, because the roms are very similar.

I copied an mp3 (that I used with another rom as a boot audio) into /system/media/ but nothing happened.
Alternate method to flash Boot Animation without PC
There is an alternate method to change the Boot Animation for HTC Desire without computer section for abd push.
1. Download Boot Animation Changer Lite, it needs Root.
2. Launch and Choose Change Animation
3. Select any Animation from the list and Install it
4. It'll backup the Stock animation in sdcard\bootanimStock folder as bootanimation.zip
5. Using any File Manager - Astro or Root replace the bootanimation.zip with the desired boot animation file (make sure you name the file as bootanimation.zip)
6. Relaunch the application
7. Choose Advance Settings
8. Select Restore Stock animation and reboot
9. You'd see your desired Boot Animation running
Cheers!!!
Good to know!

are you s-off? you need to be to change system fonts from phone or app. I just rename the fonts I want to use to DroidSans.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf copy and paste using a root file manager into system, font and reboot.
p.s clocktopia is your lockscreen clock font so renaming any font to Clocktopia.ttf and doing same as above will change clock lockscreen font.

if you are try it manually, the app should have downloaded the font to your sd card. find it and copy it to /system/font then rename it to overwrite the old ones and set permissions.
Alternatively, try a different font installer. i use absolute system tools and it works flawlessly on every rom i tried.
