(REQ) Anti Virus ?

I am using a htc touch pro. Just wondering, is it possible for the phone to be infected by virus? Earlier on there was a trojan on my pc and it stopped the pc from detecting touch pro when i connect it through usb port. it could only read as a removable drive but no longer shows me the screen that lets me choose between active sync and disk transfer. the option to let me choose is still on though, but the screen wont appear when i connect to my pc.. so, any antivirus for the phone? {p.s ive removed the trojan from my pc too}
www.eset.com
nope, not really needed, but eset or avira provide them

WOW... Don't scream so loud, we are not blind...
Fact is that the chance of coming acros a virus on a PDA is too small for me to put up with stupid device slowing software.
I once installed Bull Guard on my ppc (HTC Touch) but after the trail period ended it was next to impossible to remove again. Even with the help of the Bullguard people.
My advice: Don't bother

hmm."no man should live in fear..for a man is just a man"
first point.this is a forum to discuss and share knowledge on ppc devices, its not beebo...save the *****in for there plz maadam !.....
secondly i did not insult the moderator,tnyynt...he is a respected member of the forum who has contributed several applications/contributions...i merely said he should do more research...no insult in that.
thirdly...i am someone commonly called"a darkside hacker" or a "black hat" (a very famous one in fact!) so creating multiple accounts in forums is standard practice.ALSO..IM NOT SHOUTING..I ALWAYS WRITE LIKE THIS.
fourthly...are you mad...windows mobile virus is A serious problem..a ppc is based on windows therefore virus writers need only change the code slightly to affect windows mobile,"they" dont because its not seen as "worthwhile" although some do,primarily to target buisness sector ppc users to gain access to thier work networks to steal !

Ahahahahahahaha! Oh man, this is the funniest thing I've read in ages. Keep up the good work there guy, this comedy persona you've come up with is excellent.
If he is a "darkside hacker"... maybe he can make the first serious virus???
Cheers

If you would have read the question on post #1 with attention, as well as my answer to that question, you would have known, before putting me to research, that I was saying the exact thing that this Microsoft report sais:
Important: Currently, we are not aware of any viruses that can be transferred from your laptop or your desktop to your Windows Mobile-based device.

he can also be "black hat" ... i am a bit confused.... can you be "darkside hacker" and "black hat" in the same time or you have to log out ?????
I used to have Eset... but this crap real-time scan slows down your mobile big time. You know what they say: Safe sex is bad sex.

Office 2010 beta questions...

If I get a new HD2 and install the Office 2010 beta, what happens to the version that is installed on the phone by default?
I assume also that the beta expires (I seem to remember hearing that it will expire in May) so what happens then? The beta users are left with nothing, or will Microsoft have the GM version released by then (not holding my breath given their track-record on released dates.)
Thanks.
You could install the old version back. If you search, you will find the cab file. And you can install it on the storage card.
If you uninstall the 2010 Beta, the normal office will be back!
Anyone know where I can get the cab for office 2010 mobile?

You can download it from the Windows Marketplace.
When does it expire?

Seen it there buy it will only install to main memory, i want to put it on memory card. No longer available direct from Microsoft.
Is there a way to install the supplied rom version of office to the storage card? Im guessing this would free up a decent amount of space?
G-sensor
Does this version support G-sensor or do i have to create/edit some regkeys?
G-sensor is part of your hardware......and some programs use it indeed.....but Office 2010 don't think so......

[Q] What will happen to Windows Marketplace?

So with WP7 coming out next month... What whill happen to the current 6.5 marketplace? Will it be merged with the 7 marketplace or be left to wither away slowly?
Thanks guys,
Nick
Interesting question.
I think WM6.x will continue and marketplace will too
A Microsoft manager stated, that WM6.5 will be still alive until all business features from WM6.x are integrated into WP7! So the Windows Marketplace will live until then, indeed!
But really, who cares? The marketplace is still new to WinMo6 and we did fine without it. You're on XDA so you must know how to install CABs. The only thing I can think of that's any good and is exclusive to Marketplace is Shazam.
Yes, but be sure and save the .cab files off somewhere as if Marketplace does disappear (as it inevitably will, from my 25 years of experience as a M$ customer) you may lose access to them.

Just like Marketplace knows who you are when you sign in, it will know what device you are using and probably only show you software for it since you'll be accessing it from your phone.

First Windows Phone 7 jailbreak

Long Zheng, Rafael Rivera and Chris Walsh this week launched the ChevronWP7, a tool that allows users to unlock any phone with Windows 7 Phone and make a side-loading applications to the device.
So that users can install applications that are normally published in the Marketplace, including those using native APIs or private.

Clearly, you have yet to look in the WP7 dev forum right here in XDA...

windows8 virus affected.

I installed windows8 developer edition in the C drive. No other operating systems. I have updated the windows defender from windows update.
Then i made some browsing and downloaded some exe's and installed them. But now i think my pc is infected with virus. Windows defender detected few viruses and quarantined them. I deleted them. Now my pc is having few issues. It is taking a lot of time to restart. Also the recycle bin icon on the desktop is now changed to bluetooth icon. I guess my pc is virus infected.
I heard windows defender is a full fledged antivirus solution for windows8. IS it not?
Do you recommend any antivirus solutions for windows8. What should i do now.
Actually i purchased KASPERSKY ANTIVIRUS 2011 which is compatible with windows7. My subscription is upto march 2012. But my bad it is not compatible with windows8. Any solution for this one too..
Windows Defender is not AntiVirus... You want Microsoft Security Essentials or whatever their calling it now
It's all incorporated into Defender now.
We will never get Professional Security from M$.We must depend on Professional AV Providers like norton,Kaspersky.
Why were you installing random executables? If you can't use Windows without F8cking up so badly then you shouldn't be using Developer Preview. GO back to Windows 7, most AV software doesn't work with W8 anyway.

Well those "professionals" are the most expencive AV in the market.. dont know if you get a % of it.. but there are some out there completly free.
The AV industry is like politics.. there are AV to Mac OSX and there is no virus there..
there is AV in Windows Phone and there is no virus there.. is just business
MS changed many things with time. you go instal something, and you have to confirm it and alow it to acess previleges if asked for that program.
that is just the problem.
people install everything even if dont know what is it .. MS cant do mutch unless start cuting some fingers to dont alow install even after warnings.

Agree with that so much, people fail at things so hard mostly because they don't read...
SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes should clean the infection up for ya, if not, try ComboFix.
i've never gone wrong with panda cloud av...and its free. i currently use it on my windows 8 m3 build 8102 x86, and it works just fine. as the tech of my friends and family...im always cleaning viruses from peoples computers, even though they have nortons, mcafee, sophos, etc...but when i uninstall them and use panda it almostr instantly finds viruses and malware the others didnt detect. i think av's are much better cloud based as you dont need to update definitions...just connect and you are protected in real time.
