I keep reading that apps slow down when installed off to SD. I got a class 10 microsd and i wonder if that would still be an issue?
Do people in general observe a great slowdown in speed of apps when moved off to SDcard?
In my case, I don't notice it (Kingston 8Gb Class 4, EXT 1Gb).
No, they are running great.

I got a 8GB class 2 SD card , and I don't find apps that slow...
Class 10 would be really fast

So I've done the regedit deletion for the gsensor.dll but still encountering random freezes. They last about a minute and aren't breaking where I have to reboot but still annoying. Using a froyosense build.
I am using my stock class 2 SD card. I remember reading a few threads that the class 2 would cause freezing on games, even the game demos that came with the hd2.
Will moving to class 6 help the freezing? Any thoughts?
edit: Solved my own issue. Using G sensor lite or changing the g sensor in kernel to off will stop freezing. Class 2 card runs perfectly. Probably a class 6 would improve video/music but thats true of winmo also. Maybe if someone finds my post with the same question this will help.
no i bought a class 6 8 gig , and the only difference i really se is booting android faster and maybe a little better game play
Using a class 6 sandisk and stock class 2 card and I can def say there is a big improvement in stability and performance with my class 6 card. But it is only a 4 gig card.:-(
I am trying to use the 16 gig that came with the phone. It has major issues. The 1 gig card I have works well enough, but with some builds, it's not even enough space! This sucks. How can I even tell what class of card I have? I may buy a 2 gig card because I don't load music and stuff.
EDIT: I figured it out. I see this 16g card has the "2" on it for class 2. Lame.
As some people reported this sd card will cause multiple lags and slow down market place and app installing, others are saying its working fine for them.
Does someone know about a workaround?
Well I have a Kingstone 16GB card and I can confirm I am experiencing some lags while browsing & listening to music, i'm unsure of the installing speed issue since everyone on WP7 experience slow sync and slow deployment of XAP files, but it is terribly slow.
thinking on getting a new one just for WP7...
just test it without sd card for some time, its such a big difference
the question is if it can be fixed in some way or if its necessary to buy a completly new sd card
i've spent last two nights with installing wp7 on my kingston 8gb class 4 and my sandisk 2gb (hd2-bulk) over and over... my result: the 8gb kingston card is so much slower... not to speak about the annoying lags in marketplaas as described above and the multiple reboots on startup (up to 8 times till it boots all the way through to homescreen!) now i'm forced to stay on 2gb until a solution is found, or someone will sponsor a compatible 8gb card (or larger) to me

At least the 2GB sandisk works for you, i got 2 of them and none are even recognized
Well I have 2 more cards
one is a generic 4GB i tested WP7 with which was great! but I didn't cofirm if the slowdowns occur after installing apps and adding music, I only synced about 10 songs before deciding to install WP7 on my kingston one, so I can't confirm that it was better, it just didn't lag, I can't know if the lag is an issue after loading things onto the SD card.
The one SD card I have is another Kingston 8 GB, same model like my 16GB, so it would be stupid to even try it since i've got everything configured for now on my 16GB.
I'm thinking about getting a Sandisk 16GB but i'm afraid i'll just throw money and this issues will appear again because they are size related...
The thing is, Does everyone experince slow downs when listenning to music? (which is the main thing I do with my phone) or that WP7 doesn't load apps sometimes? or when sometimes you swype left for the list and the icons of the applications that are insatlled on the SD card are still loading (grey image with a star).
Facebook is slow.
Because if this is the base performance for everyone i'll just stay with my Kingston.
It just seems that everything that's related to the SD card is working on and off.
The Kingston 4GB class 4 I have is very laggy, big difference with it out. I bought one of those SD cards that where approved as WP7 compatible by Sandisk.
My HD2 is in repair at the moment getting a new digitizer so I can't test it until it comes back.

im experiencing the same, but as i said its probably related to the kingston sd card, its not the base performance
everything works awesomely fast without the sd card inserted...
Deploying applications takes ages, music in Zune stutters, games lag... It's clearly the bad performance of our Kingston...
I have 4 MicroSD :
sandisk 2gig class4
Sandisk 2gig class2
Kingston 4gig class2
Kingston 4gig class6
Sandisk 2gig class2 is the best.Class4 drain more battery and is more lag.
I have 2 MicroSD
kingston 16Go Class 2
kingston 8Go Class 4
16 c2 is perfect
8 c4 is lag and slowdown
Inersting but it seems all the laggy SD's are class 4, while class 2 works good, mine is a class 4 as well.
I have 2 MicroSD
Samsung 8GB Class 2 ( lag and slowdown )
Nokia 4GB Class 6 ( really fast and good battery )
I have a 16Gb Kingston class 4 and magldr doesn't even recognize it let alone wm7 I think its down to that, like the battery issues most are having, in time these will be fixed
I confirm, don't use Kingston class4 (I'll try to get a refund from amazon :/)
No problem with my sandisk class2
same here, 8GB class 4 Kingston doesn't even boot anything :-(
Yea I have a Kingston class 4 16gb that magldr doesn't even read, I have just put a post in the HD2 general about it asking about it

I will be using it for storing/taking photos/movies and storing lots of gameloft HD games on it.
Which is better for my x10 with what I use it for? Which one will have better performance when it comes viewing photos and movies? Will the games load faster on the pny class 10?
Or will the difference in performance from two cards not noticeable from everyday use?
Thanks
Not card wise but company wise, sandisk makes better memory cards if not the best in my opinion. I have never had a problem with their cards.
Choose them if the memory card you need is made by them.

Read speeds can be significantly improved with the SD Speed Increase app developed by a xda member. Write speeds have no such cache fix available.
Unless you are writing very sequencally all cards are very slow. Technically a class 10 should be twice as fast with seq writes, but differences in materials and design sometimes reduce the difference.
A 32gb Kingston class 4 writes at 4.356 MB/s and a Lexar 32gb class 10 writes at 11.44 MB/s. But a Class 4 8gb Sony writes at 10.19MB/s! So what you actually get will be unknown until you have the cards.

Hi there, i just bought a generic 16gb class 10 microSDHC card off of ebay for £16, it was cheap so i was a bit skeptical, but i received it and did sum read write tests, i got upto 11meg write speed so atleast i know its not a fake, but its working well videos and pics are saving a lot quicker so im happy with it for the moment.
I have both cards right now, It was used for my sony camcorder.
How can I test both of them in my phone?
stan.s whats that app you are referring to? where can I find it?
THanks

I bought a PNY 16Gb Class 10 off PLAY for a bargain price (about £16) and am now in the process of returning it as I had to keep fixing errors using my PC.
I have had a lot of PNY flash cards for my camera with no problems, so hop this is just a one-off?
Hopefully the replacement card (a direct replacement) will be better.....

I'm using PNY 16gb class 10 for my x10....
is good.... no prb at all
It varies alot depending on brand but last time I checked android simply didnt take advantage from anything faster than class 4.. You can of course remove card plug it into pc card reader and fill it faster.. But android os is limited and wont take advantage of a class 10 card speed. Maybe on 2.3 or 3.0 ? But it doesnt on 2.1/2.2 at least

Hello,
Yesterday I bought MicroSD 8GB 4 Class memory card before I was using 8GB 2 class, so my question is that can I use my newly bought memory card for NativeSD Android Roms?
Will the performance be good and stable?
Once I installed NativeSD with the 2 class the performance wasn't good at all after I installed much apps.

I used to have the same setup and it worked fine
4gb class 4
8gb class 2 - a bit sluggish - not sure if this is even an authentic MicroSD
8gb class 4
now I'm using a class 10 32gb Strontium MicroSD 16gb(WP7) 10GB+4GB Ext4(Android NativeSD) so far everything is working normally.
So should I install any nativeSD rom in it?
Will it work fine?
I am looking to get a microSD for storing my music and photos to use on my note 4. I heard that microSD cards can slow down the phone's performance, can you share your experiences with the microSD and note 4 lag? Thanks
I'm using a 64gb microSD on my N4. I'm not sure on the lagging issue coming from the use of microSD or what since been using the microSD at beginning of ownership. N4 upgraded to lollipop

i have been using it since i bought the device and havent had any problem about it.. it doesnt effect your general usage but it can make pics showing slower in gallery if you buy a slow card.
I am using 32GB class10 MicroSD card from beginning and never have issues.

I did experience few delays when I used a class 6 microSD that I found in my old phone. Make sure you use at least class 10.
I'm using a Samsung 64Gb PRO - haven't noticed any impact on phone performance. I store all my photos and media on it, and even large 16MP images load instantly in QuickPic.
128 gb SanDisk class 10 here. No lag what so ever...
/CK
I've been using mine with a 32GB MicroSDHC Class 10 without a single problem.
Samsung 64gb card. No slowdowns due to it.

This is a bit of a loaded question.
Firstly, The speed and size of the memory card can impact the performance of the card. I use a 64GB Class 10 card and its around 90% full, i find that this does impact performance i do have lag when accessing certain folders.
The lag in my instance is caused with the fact i have over 3000 image files in folders/ subfolders and my app i use for gallery loves to thumbnail them all.
Games, and call recording etc result in next to no impact.
Scandisk 64gb class 10. Almost full, with a lot of music, pictures and documents. No lag at all.
i use a 32GB MicroSDHC Class 10 from transcend
It doesn't cause any lag but i'm testing the phone without it, suspecting it may cause overheating, even though probability is very weak
I have a 32gb Sony high speed I got on Amazon for ten bucks. Works great!
128gig here. Sandisk.
32GB class 10 since day one. Never had any lag.
I've been using a 32GB Sandisk MicroSDCard in my N910C for over 2 weeks now and I haven't noticed any lag at all. I mainly use my microSDCard for media, documents and photo storage. That way I don't have to worry about my N910C's internal memory running out.
128Gb Samsung Card
I'm using a 64GB class 10 Sandisk ExtremePro that I bought on sale and had used in my previous phone- I've tried the phone without the card and the lag is still there so I'm assuming the card isn't the factor. I'm on lollipop btw.
128 gb Samsung class 10 here...
im using a Viking Man 64 GB Class10 UHS1 U3 microsd card
