On the lines of the HTC One, the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be offering 50GB of dropbox storage for a period of 2 years.
Not bad if you do decide to go in for the S3.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Dropbox Offer
just another worthless sell argument...
you can't stream music or videos so what is 50gb worth for a phone then?
it's only for 2 years
and it was mentioned in the original samsung press release

I stream music and movies from DropBox too
BUT, I do kinda agree that it's a worthless sell since the space is taken back in two years. I'd rather they just give us, say, 10GB... and make it permanent. 10 on top of the free 13 I already have would be a nice cloud storage.

I'll probably just stick with the 50GB free for life at Box courtesy of HP when I got my (cheap) TouchPad

Suppose it's nice to have it but not a deal breaker for me. At least there's an sd slot so you can add extra storage unlike HTC's offering.

Yeah I have the free 50 from Box too... big deal... They give so much space free because the service sucks compared to Dropbox. Doesn't even have an auto upload feature. Oh, and I didn't even have to buy a cheap TouchPad to get the free 50.…they gave it to everyone and anyone who signed up awhile back.

Yeah but it's free for life so I'm not going to complain. Plus you never know it might improve anyway. Would be nice to know in advance what the Dropbox charges would be after the 2 years (do we get a special deal after that?)

Too bad it's two years only...
That's sounds like a "1 year free Norton antivirus" installed on your laptop when you buy it.
(OK to be honnest I prefer the dropbox offer
Also i have the feeling i will need the droppbox content when i don't have 3G connection.
If i buy a S3, i'll buy a 32Gb/64Gb microSD and won't use this "cloud" storage. So not a sell argument for me.

Yes but I think most people would change their phones in less than 2yrs, I had this galaxy s2 for less than a year now and I feel like buying an S3 so emmm I think 2yrs is enough, okaay its a bit little but does the whole 50GB go or they reduce it to the free storage ? and besides not many people will store many data because most is personal people will store for sharing mods and apps so u dnt need 50GB

heheheh well they say each account is linked to one SG3 :/, which seems a bit weird *-) like If I flash my SG3 it may not be recognised, or maybe its like once u get one u cant get another account , So lets say I flash my phone with another rom so my Android ID changes and it wld think that its another phone so maybe u can get many accounts .

Yes, that link takes you to the techintz.com web site which you would then think it's all above board and then you have 8 comments so obviously it's been downloaded.
.... but what I would like to know is why are they pointing to a mediafire download link and not google play for the Box App without first explaining the reason.

It's very tempting, but Technitz hasn't been around that long and it's run by some guy in Tanzania (not that this means much except that it's not a viable and reliable source and it's a country where there is likely little chance of legal recourse). The APK is questionable at best...so, while tempting, I'll pass. Its not like this is the first or the last of such deals...so I'll wait until the next legitimate offer.

I understand your concern about going through an unknown source but why not just try and download the box app from...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.box.android&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5ib3guYW5kcm9pZCJd
and follow these instructions to see if you can get a free lifetime 50GB Box storage.
How do I get my 50GB?
If you’re brand new to Box, you’ll need to download the app from your device and sign up for a free Box account. After the sign up is complete, log into your account from the device. Your upgrade should be complete and you’ll see a confirmation message.
If you already have an older version of the Box app on your device, you just need to sign into your account on your device and the upgrade should be complete.
Note that this promotion is only for free Box Personal accounts; if you are a Box Business, Enterprise or paid Personal customer you do not qualify for this promotion.

Nice way of collecting personal info, data mining, who knows, might be able to collect enough info for a fake passport, and some credit cards to fund a new home
I will still try it, just won't put sensitive info in there....
Thanks:thumbup:
Ps. Just read the link, the modded app more than likely sends your loggin details to the app modder?

Installed the app, got my 50GB, uninstalled the app and changed my password to something REALLY secure. Also under Settings -> Security in browser version you can activate 2-step verification for unrecognized logins, where after logging in a code will be sent to your mobile. And you can see when and where your account was accessed.

Screen seems to have issues, smearing and red pixels not turning completely off on black images. Hopefully they are software related (wouldn't surprise anyone) but they could be defects.

I already have a 64gb mem card thanks.. but all programs get installed to the internal memory and I have some bigs games and i'm getting fed up of making space.. Also you only get to use 11gb, not 16gb
Because I need my mem card to be formatted FAT32 so my laptop can read it I can't save files bigger than 4gb on it, therefore no HD films which i have to download to internal mem, which as that stands I don't have a 4gb spare anyway..
Using directory bind there is absolutely no need for bigger internal space

It looks nice, but the camera isn't great, battery life is hit and miss, I hate the button layout (why put the power button on the top left, yuck) and no room for extra memory.
none of the gpu s out there is enough for 1080p atm so ill stick with s3 better game performance than new phones and really very little difference on browser performance doesnt worth for upgrading atm.
HTC one also has no removable back cover/battery, so there's another negative. I don't like the trend towards 'apple'-fying new phones, having expandable memory & removable battery are very important for me!
I will keep my S3 32GB GT-9300I at least until S5, and who knows maybe untill S6 if i don't have problems with it.
it's perfect for me.

Price is low because you are buying the phone straight from Google and they are interested in you using their software rather than making money off the device like other companies. It's an amazing device on par with other flagship's.

To me, the ONLY negative is the lack of SD card slot. So you are only limited to 16gb of storage, and that's not the entire amount available to you. And coming from a device with 64gb storage it was a hard pill to swallow lol. I figured I needed a "diet" of apps and data anyways.
I absolutely love the phone and amount of love the devs have had developing for it thus far. I also still have my old Nexus one in storage .

If you want a lot of storage on hand and not in the cloud this phone is not for you. You can use thumb drives but unlike other devices you will need a power source and a y-OTG cable. As stated before the low price is simply to get you to use Google software and in my opinion the limited storage is a not so subtle push to get you to use Drive. This is my first phone with an embedded battery and it's surpassed my expectations. I get over 24 hours with minimal usage and 8 hours with what for me is heavy usage, this includes streaming music for 2 hours for my commute and my data is always on. Like the previous poster said, this is a great device. To optimize battery life, root and buy SetCPU.

Like the past repliers, low price is there because google is focused on the software, rather than making a lot of money off of their phones. It's a really great device, and I plan on using for a very long time (unless I get a N5 when it comes out, of course.) It's well worth the cost if you can get one. Even the it isn't the best phone out right now specs wise, it's still one of the best overall. It may not have the best amount of memory, but I easily overlook that with dropbox and box.

I was afraid about the low price as well but Google doesnt even want to make money on Nexus. They just want you to use their software and develop maybe!
So, just open your wallet and purchase one Nexus or two maybe! Then unlock it and flash custom ROMs and kernels!
once again, AT&T seems to have killed the free Dropbox again... probably because they are pushing the AT&T locker feature... damn you AT&T...
I got the 50gb about a month ago when I sign up on their web site. Had to install it on my s4, pc and one other thing I can't remember. Might be worth a shot if you haven't got an account already

When you signed up on who's website? Samsung or dropbox? I don't even see this offer anywhere but would love to get it.

Anyone know if the T Mobile phones have the 50 GB free? Might be another reason to get that one over the ATT version.

When I was playing with mine out of the box and clicked on drop box it had the 50GB offer. This was a Tmobile Note 3. I signed in with my existing account (already have 73GB from a previous 50 bonus from the SIII offer plus some promos hehe) and it did NOT give me 50 more. I suppose if I signed up with a new account it would have given me the 50 after meeting their requirements. Oh well...
I suppose if I really wanted it I could ODIN back to stock and try it again but I'm not doing that.

You cannot redeem the 50gb offer more than once on a single Dropbox account. You have to make another account to redeem that 50gb space. It doesn't stack. I've done it with demo units in stores where now I have multiple Dropbox accounts with the 50gb promo.

Yes, the T-Mobile and Sprint versions definitely have the 50gb DropBox promotion. I am not sure about Verizon though.
And what happened to the free year of Evernote Premium? Was that an incorrect rumor or do non-AT&T versions come with it?

Hmmm never thought of that. Create a gmail account and walk into store and link it to new 50GB drop box!
Link camera to demo phone and see what people are taking pictures and video of as well.
Dropbox 50Gb "FREE" account...the *DEVIL* is in the details!!!

You all know that this is a PROMO only and after two years, after you've accumulated ALL of your DATA into the account you have to PAY for it, otherwise, it gets deleted??!? If it was LIFETIME free, YEAH that's worth talking about, but c'mon, two years just so they can get you used to the idea, start save bits of data here and there...Blink of an eye, and I can imagine Willem Dafoe *BAMF* pop in the chair across from you with a sharp black suit and long creepy fingernails, dangling a PEN and asking you. "All of this could be yours, just sign on the dotted line"...
"got you by the balls..."
Sorry but no thanks...!

Completely agree, pointless to complain about a TEMPORARY offer.... if you truly want cloud storage then look for a solution that is permanent. There are quite a few choices for minimal cost available with most offering at least 10GB free.... how many of you are actually using 50GB of storage... very few I'd imagine.
24 months and 50GB. Mine is up to 73 due to other promotions and such. Not a bad deal for free. It's $9.95/month for 100GB.
It's a convenience more than anything else. I have several phones linked to this and it's nice to be able to take pictures or see pictures from another phone, etc. I have about 6GB on mine which is next to nothing.
If I decide when it's up that I don't want it and need anything I'll download it and that will be that.
No big deal but for the meantime I'll gladly use the space for free, for now.

Here's mine .
