Random Battery drops and charges - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I am facing sudden battery drops using the phone & sudden battery hikes while charging.
Attached are the pictures.
What can be the reason for this.
Present rom details are attached.
I have tried out recalibration via battery calibrator application & via recovery.
Still drops randomly.
Any solutions for this?

Can you specify, Which device you have, i mean Defy Red, Green or Defy Plus and is it from Eppy's or Quarx build??

battery hardware problem. i had the same issue. now i have a new battery and the problem is gone. so its hardware.

We can see a pattern in Drops.. it always drops on some specific Roms and usual drops is between 60%-40% .. We Just need to collect the info. for the Bug.. I am pretty sure that battery drops are experienced only for those who are using GB builds on Red Lens Defy and also who flash Battery Fix.

Calibrate it ?

Some issues

I currently have a Android 2.2 nand with magldr on my hd2.
I'm having a couple issues tho.
I'm having really bad battery life. I always let it die before I charge it but ill take it off the charger when it has a full battery and within 4 hours my phone will die. Granted I use it a lot but that's not good.
I'm also having problems with the TS. it freezes, buttons get "stuck" a bunch of issues with the TS.
help greatly appreciated.

For bad battery life, try a different radio. Although I don't suspect that it's the radio, it's just you using it too heavily as to why battery drains quickly.
For TS try a different kernel/build.

Hi,
First of all what build are you using? Try calibrating your battery, steps here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8993227&postcount=4
For the touchscreen freezes, did you try another rom? Im using tytung's Nexus HD2 Gingerbread, link in my signature and dont have problems with touchscreen. Maybe try this one. Is this happening in WM as well or only in Android?

This is what I had, too. What I did:
calibrate battery as mentioned (charge full (red -> green led), shut off, charge again full, put out and in battery, charge again full, start phone with android)
Install Gingerbread-Build with GPS battery drain fix - Currently I have http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060 (tytung's gingerbread hd2) with its known errors.
disable bluetooth when not used
When enabling bluetooth, I've got 60-70mA. With disabled bluetooth and disabled wlan I got 2-3 mA. When WLAN enabled it's mostly 2-5 mA but sometimes higher.
(GPS enabled!)
I hope, the bluetooth drain will be fixed soon....

[Q]PLEASE HELP, Which is the BEST KERNEL, without the problem of Battery Dropping?

Hello all,
As the tile says, i am looking for the best kernal for Blackstone..
With all the kernels i have tried, the problem is same, which is battery keeps dropping 2% every 20 seconds, and phone will eventually turn off....
Only one kernel works in my phone, in that one battery always stays 5%, no change.
I dont mind camera, only need a kernal without battery dropping problem...the one showing actually battery status..
Please help me...Thanks
15/16/June/2011 kernel will give stable battery drain.

That is a known issue, seems solved in the latest kernel but AFAIK doesn't work for blackstone, so we'll have to wait.

Random reboot battery level drops

Hey I was wondering if anyone running any GB ROMs experience huge battery level drops when/if they experience a random reboot or reboot manually (sometimes). My battery will appear to be doing great until the phone is rebooted and then the indicator drops to the bottom...the interesting part is the indicator will always boot to the same level (30%) no matter what level I was at b4 the reboot. I've experience this with both hurricane and stockyish ROMs. I tried resetting battery stats and that ddnt help...

That is a bug in CWM and battery level reporting. You can get your battery level back by either rebooting with a charger on or pull the battery out for 5 minutes and reboot.
Worked! Thanks!
i didnt think that it was a CWM problem... b/c i have noticed that since when i first got my epic on release day..
same thing just happened to me but im still on SFR Froyo so i dont think its a GB Rom, but i did the put the charger in and rebooted.... worked great thanks!
Glad I could help. Didn't realize some people saw this on stock. So it may be a reporting issue or momentary voltage drop. Either way at least we can work around it.

Galaxy 3 Shutdowns

It happens only when I turn on 3G or I do some installing or I play a game. It says there's low battery and the phone starts shutting down. I've rooted and tried various ROMs but still nothing. What could be the problem? I don't think its the software because I tried rerooting and hard resetting. Any help would be great!
Well it says low battery then it must be because of low battery. Maybe your calibration has gone wrong. Just recalibrate your battery and check.
Nope it's definitely not because the battery's low I charge it to 100% then for maybe 2 hrs its fine. But once I turn on 3G and use it for 5 mins it automatically shuts down. If I try turning it back on it does the same thing what can I do now? I tried to recalibrate the battery many times still nothing. I'll try some more but what else could be the problem?

Try changing kernel?? Increase minimum frequency. Maybe. If problem is still there. Flash your regions stock ROM and go to service center. Replicate the problem there.

Yeah I think I'll take it to the service center but before that I'll try what you said. Thanks for your help!
What if you keep the phone plugged in with the charger and then turn on 3g or install something? Does it turn off even then?
If it does not, the problem is with the battery so replace it.
If it turns off even when charging, something else is causing the problem so take it to the service center.
dude i have had the same problem. i did send it to the service center - will get it back tomorrow if not, then for tuesday for sure..i know what your problem is .. your phone does draine the battery very fast - if you do something, or not isnt it? then when you swith your data connection on, your phone drains the battery withing 5 minutes to 0%. in reality its not a battery problem - cuz i tried another battery of a friend and the same thing happend again. but the battery of my friend isnt bad. :S

Nope it happens only when it's on battery and yesterday I found out that it happens when I make calls too. When it's charging everything is fine. I'll try changing the battery then.

Yeah that is exactly the problem I've been facing too! In 5 minutes it switches off I've even tried different ROMs. Well since you've given yours for service could let me know how it goes? Thanks.
Yes. I reveived it today.. seems like the problem still exists -.- i dont see any changings.. it looks like it was just a waste of time to send it to them -.-

have you tried changing the battery
I have the same problem since one week (shutdown while i use 3G or Wifi, but battery is full !)
Revert to stock ROMs doesn't change anything, i've tried o lot of them (was on cyanogenmod before)
I probably get the Galaxy Nexus next year ; but it's a very very annoying problem..
I can't do anything (no calling, 3G or wifi using, pictures taking..)
Please help us.. if it's possible
Yeah I tried my friend's battery but still I have the same problem.

[Q] [H] i9500 Battery instantly to 0

Hello friends,
MY i9500 international edition has been having this problem for several months now. I have flashed about 3 or 4 ROMs and the result is always the same. I charge to 100%.. use for little while and then I do something like open the Camera, or xyz app and BOOM the screen goes black, upon rebooting the low battery popup appears. The phone will heat up during this process. Sometimes, removing the battery and rebooting acts as a temporary fix. The battery percentage reappears at a higher number and I can use the phone.. But, then the phone rings or I try to reply to a text message and BOOm screen goes black, etc..
currently using 4.4.2, kernel 4.3.5-CM-gbe05dd6 (SuperNexus ROM)
help!

Perhaps a battery problem? Try replacing the battery. Or borrowing first, at least.
cheers ~

well bro do you see the golden plates on your battery? So these pins might get damaged while flashing not every tym but it happens. Replace your battery or just sit and caliberate the battery which of no use.All the best.
easy sol wud b borrowing a battery frm a frnd to test
if u dont wana spend money on buying a new battery then borrow it frm ur frnd for a day n test if urs got any prob ..
the battery dont need to b in damaged state to do such malfunction .. i bought a new battery for my fone n it does same like at 20% fone switches off n after restart it goes to 10% frm 50-60
