Apparently Sony, Gameloft, and MLG want to bring competitive(?) gaming to mobile devices. This "Xperia Mobile Gaming Arena" only supports Modern Combat 3 for the moment. From what I can see there are cash prices available.
The announcement video was put up today. The link to the site is here.
Personally, this isn't my type of game, but I like to see Sony pushing the Xperia brand so aggresively. Hopefully we'll see more PS1 games and other cool stuff (PS Store) officially come to the US soon.

I got it working with the PS3 controller using the Sixxaxis controller app. Took some configuring but seems to work pretty good. Haven't really had a chance to play it much. Was playing it on the iPad since it runs much better on there.

With this game coming on Xperia Play you will not regret owning this device.
Probably the best games graphics ever made for Android.
Desert Winds:
Following a beautiful princess determined to avenge the death of her parents and regain her desert kingdom, Amira, the beautiful, deadly star of the game Desert Winds, you will see one of the most visually impressive games ever seen on mobile and it's coming soon to Xperia PLAY. Can't wait! Here is a trailer from Qualcomm folks who are showing off their Snapdragon Adreno GPU with this game:

"Soon" is the last info I got
I hope that Square enix titles on Isucks will be available soon for this device.
***************
People should try playing MMO Dungeon Defenders Second Wave the graphic are absolutly amazing too.
(But it's not my type of games i prefer JRPG 2d or 3d like FF)

That was never in doubt. The debate was if it could Emulate the PSP or PS2

+1 there are many games out for the play already with textures just as good as the ps2, take battle bears for example, emulation requires much more power than the machine you are emulating though

More like "So maybe this phone can play ps2, psp, ps3, games after all."
It can play them if they are ported and made to fit.
You will never see PS3 quality on the Play or any current gen phone.

I quit buying Play. This looks much more interesting, seamless design, unlocked bootloader, no SIM-locks and 100% native SNES emulation! Xperia Play doesn't even have CD drive for running PSX games, and look at this!

lmao wat a joke
I just recently tried to download the new Dark Knight Rises game from the play store and it says that my device (GS3) is not compatible. I find it very odd that they would not include the GS3 with the launch of this game, it shows that some of my older devices actually are compatible, like my GS2 and HTC Sensation. Does anyone know why our phones are not compatible or included? And if it will be in the future? I was really looking forward to playing this game.
Not compatible for my Vzw GS3 either, or for that matter my asus infinity. Weird
I see a comment that says constantly crashes for my GS3, so they probably took it off the market for the GS3 until they come out with an update.
Plays really well for me, Sprint

you have to wake up and understand that there are more than one company who makes Android phones.
Tons of different specs like resolution of the display and different CPU/GPU.
Lots of games running on Windows still have problems related to GPU. Just read any driver's change log from ATI or Nvidia and you will understand.
And who really cares if you cant get the game the first week ??? Seriously...
I think it'll come out soon, when spiderman first came out,I tried to buy it ,said my device wasn't compatible, then after couple days I checked and it was available. I'm on the verizon network also.

Not every game works great. I use smaller isos or ciso's (some stutter). Or rips w cutscenes removed. Here's a zip w pics of my settings https://www.dropbox.com/s/771kysjq3pmw76n/Screenshot.ppsspp.zip
I just noticed the option to emulate either psp1000 or 2/3000. I never messed with it, it may help compatibility on some games too. It's mainly trial and error with settings and isos and some games just won't work.
What Neo and Mame emus do you use?

I love the high quality of games available for this device.
Currently I play Fifa14 and Frontline Commando 2.
I love to put this device to the test, so any suggestions for HD games (preferably free) are welcome!

I hope someone develops something like this. Maybe a slide version if possible like the Play so we can still use it as a phone without the gamepad getting in the way.
*.*
i need that when it comes out...
Anyway i think the Shell style isn't convenient, slider rulez
I agree slider rules. I may not have my PLAY anymore, but I still consider it to be the best gaming phone around. At least as far as emulators. I was able to run MC4 at 35-40fps by using app quarantine to kill all apps except mc4 the launcher and keyboard. And over clock to 1.4 with performance on lupus kernel. Game flew. Anyways sadly I had to sell my old xperia play some months ago. But I used it for almost 3 years.

This would be awesome to see and try out, granted it will never replace my xperia play which I found a keyboard that lets me type using the gamepads slbut sadly its only compatible with gb but I still have a select few games I can play without the use of the touchscreen
Looks really cool, would be nice if they did make a module like that

Lol ozzmanj1... You always bring us the juiciest of the news, even if it is a concept.
If people are looking into such possibilities, Project Ara might end up being the place to go after the Play.
Perhaps add extra battery capacity in the controller too? Or space for more Ara modules... Just a few ideas. lol.
On another note, Ara is going to be epic - been following it closely for a while now ever since PhoneBlocks.
