Asus transformer TF300? - Transformer TF300T General

Has anybody tried to root or been able to root the NEW transformer? Its the one to replace the prime. I see that its competitor the ACER A510 has been rooted already and it came out after the TF300. Both have ICS.
Someone said that they tried to root it like the previous transformers and it did not work. Is this true? Anyone working on it?

If you accepted the ICS update (like I did....Doh!!!) Then it appears you're gonna have to wait a while until they crack the newest TF201 update. Very likely that whatever solution is found for the current TF201 will work for TF300, too.

Downgrade firmware to root.
Work for TF201

Asus released the .17 firmware on their site. But I need the firmware for the ww sku, they only have the .26 firmware for ww. Can I use another .17 version?

I rooted mine last week and then did the update. And thanks to voodoo ota root keeper, I still have root after I went into recovery and accidentally did a factory reset today. If anything I know I can keep root after a reset. Lol

I rooted my TF300 last week (using Sparky, THANKS) and then did the update, thanks to voodoo ota root keeper I still have root after updating to build .26 If you want to root your new TF300 do not do the OTA update, root it first or you will have to wait for a future fix.

when transformer gets ics do I need to unroot?

Title says it all.
Also is there any quick unroot tools like for the prime because I have to send this into Asus soon for repairs.
For ICS you can just wait for a dev to root & ROMify it. Shouldn't take too long.
With regards to sending it back to Asus for repairs, you'll probably want to revert to stock, not just unroot it. You'll also probably get it back in an unrootable form...
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
if you need to send it back it's easier to brick it so they give you a new one(and they can't tell if you rooted a brick, right? ). all of them can be rooted now.
as of right now nachoroot is patched in ics so if you lose root after ics you may be unrootable for a while..im sure it wont take long tho
it wont stay unrootable for long as Asus confirmed with the Prime ICS update news that they would be releasing a bootloader unlock utility for ICS on the Prime.
am holding fire with any ICS update for a couple of weeks, no doubt it will cripple some aspect of the device at 1st!
Afaik the tf101 and 201 have the same bootloader, maybe the prime bootloader unlock tool would work for the 101?

Recently Bought Used TF101

I just ordered a TF101 on cowboom today and I'm wondering if I should root it ASAP or allow it to upgrade to ICS and then root. Does it really matter what updated OS will be present with regard to rooting?
Let it update then root it (that's what i did when i got mine a couple of days ago). It's just as easy to root ICS now.

Yes it will work just fine. B70 just means you can't use NV flash, so be careful

The version of ICS does matter. The TF101G (the 3G version) of ICS is not currently rootable. Based on that, the next update of ICS for the regular version TF101 will not be rootable either, and, if the new thread someone just started about a new OTA firmware update becoming available now is true and if you hadn't updated to ICS before now, it may be too late to do so and still be able to root it.
In that case, instead of OTA, you'd probably have to root on Honeycomb, install Rootkeeper, use root to install a custom recovery, use the custom recovery to install a rootable version of ICS [because many, including myself, somehow lost root when upgrading from Honeycomb to ICS], root ICS if unrooted and unrecoverable from Rootkeeper, doublecheck Rootkeeper, and then hope the next ICS update does not unroot and block Rootkeeper [which is where most of us are now].

This sounds like I could be in for some trouble. I'm not the best at rooting(was able to do my Evo4g and Nook Tablet) but this seems like there are quite a few little details to it. Can I return the tablet if I am unsuccessful at rooting or will I void any return because of it?
Since you bought it through a kind of second hand store I don't think they will know the difference between a bad root brick and just an actual brick so you "should" be able to return it, but technichally once you begin the rooting process your device warranty should already be voided.
Although, a new update just came out today and if it does everything that it says it does you may not need to root to have a fully functional device.
Cowboom has a very easy return policy because they know they are dealing with returned goods (from Best Buy). All you have to do is send them a request for an RMA, and they'll send you one promptly. Just be sure to do it within the allowed return period.
It's too bad you didn't update to ICS prior to last night's update being released. It would have been so much easier to root ICS that way (using ViperMOD), but now the latest ICS is probably not rootable for the time being. If you update OTA now, you (probably) can't root, so decide first before letting the OTA updater do its thing. Or go the longer Clockwork Recovery route I mentioned above for root.

Interesting I used tegraowners black thunder root 6.0 and successfully rooted my tablet after official updated Acer a500. My build number is the 1.033 Gen 2. However on this black thunder root my build number is not listed as supported but it worked and rooted my tablet. Does it make any difference?.. also what is the remount app for?

Who cares how you get root?!
Well, of course everyone has a copy of Windows conveniently located. I mean, it's a law, isn't it?
I admit I have sinned and don't have one that is easy to get to. I usually don't use it. Please don't burn me at the stake.

Unroot

I have decided i no longer care to have a rooted tablet. I have a B7O TF101 with SBKv2 and the idea that I don't have the ability top use nvflash has been holding me back from flashing custom roms. So many times there are issues with custom software and I don't wanna end up with my tablet bricked, there is no other need to have root, it's keeping me from installing OTAs when they come out. I don't wanna sound like I'm whining about it but really im justsick of having half functionality. So I'm gonna unroot. I have several phones I can use to fulfill my ORD so what's the easiest way to unroot a B7O on .11?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
IF you have CWM, just download the official firmware from Asus.
Flash it via CWM and you'll be unroot with stock recovery.
Like an update? The reason i havent upgraded to .17 was because I read that it wouldn't upgrade properly if you were on rooted .11. I've had the option to install the update since it was released but didn't want to brick it.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2
Why unroot when you can temp unroot with "OTA Rootkeeper"? You can always leave it temp unrooted, but it will still give you the option to change your mind.

[Guide] TF300 JB downgrade to TF700 ICS to gain ROOT access.

Warning: So far it's a one way trip to ICS, cannot return to JB. If it bricks your tablet, I'm not responsible for any damage.
There are two ways to flash an official update file.
1) Extract the .zip within the downloaded .zip file and place it in internal root directory.
2) Extract the .zip within the downloaded .zip file and place it in sdcard root directory and rename it EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip
If you use method 1, you'll see an notification in the notification bar prompting or upgrade/downgrade. If you don't, try rebooting it. If it still doesn't show up, try method 2.
If you use method 2, you'll have to reboot into bootloader, selecting RCK with volume up button and it'll flash.
To downgrade into TF700's ICS rom, make sure you are on the latest 10.4.2.18 for TF300. Next, downgrade to 10.4.2.9 (can be found in TF300's forum) using either method 1 or method 2. Next, you downgrade into 9.4.5.30 (can be found in TF700's forum) using either method 1 or method 2 again.
If you happen to have flashed the wrong file, don't worry, it doesn't brick. It'll simply have an error of "signature mismatch" and restart (however your tablet would have been reset by this point).
After it's in 9.4.5.30 you can use the 1-Click-Root method that can be found in TF300's forum and gain root access.
My original goal to downgrade to ICS is hoping that I can spoof the MAC address to fool the unlock tool and allow me to unlock (I know my MAC address that is on ASUS's server file, which is different than what it is on my tablet), however that is not working out...
I have not been able to flash back to any of TF300's JB rom or TF700's JB rom after getting into the 9.4.5.30 ICS rom. I keep getting the following error...
Installing update...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:resource mismatch, it's not mdpi!
E:check resource fail
SD Installation aborted
So right now I'm currently stuck on TF700's ICS rom.
I don't know if any of this is helpful to people. If it is to you, good for you. If you know how to fix the problem for me, let me know too, thanks.

Did you try to replace the build.prop file from TF300 ICS and try flashing the TF300 or TF700 JB ROMs?
Unfortunately, I don't believe this will help with allowing the generation of NVFlash files if you manage to get the TF300 to the TF700 9.4.5.30 ROM. NVFlash doesn't appear to work with 9.4.5.30 either. 9.4.5.30 most likely has the bootloader signature required by the JB bootloader, but thus prevents using the androidroot.mobi NVFlash one.
But maybe this can help people root without unlocking if there is a way back to the TF300 stock updates.
well I tried and replaced the build.prop
with TF300's ICS one... now it won't start at all anymore lol.

My bad
Think you have to push ICS of TF700 to Internal memory via ADB and reflash.
That should bring your tablet back. I would wait for senior members to comment to avoid mucking up further
lol it's fine no worries

Ok will this downgrade revert the bootloader so that nvflash can be used? I had just bought my tablet and jumped the gun updating to JB. Had I read about the bootloader change I wouldn't have upgraded until after I had done all the nvflash work!

Don't know if that was that good of an idea. The older devices of the tf300t have ics bootloader so they of course can achieve nvflash - but the newer devices didn't only get fixes in software I assume.
Read about ghost touches and so on which apparently doesn't happen on the newer devices.
Just get anyone you know to sign this petition so Asus might give us poor devils stuck on jb a chance to achieve nvflash

You are obviously getting an assert error when you try to allow stock recovery to install 10.4.2.9. Have you considered removing the assert and trying to install 10.4.2.9?
News? Did you try to update from tf700 ics to tf300t jb trought fastboot?
