Is this HoneyComb for DS5? - Streak 5 General

http://bbs.zhangku.com/thread-35597-1-1.html
I incidentally found this forum and this topic; i guess it contains HoneyComb for DS5 and Stage UI 360 as an add on.

Judging by the screenshots it says that its 2.2.2 so froyo, having honeycomb on the streak 5 would be kind of a useless thing IMO since you'd pretty much have to throw the phone functionality out completely

I beleive this is 2.2.2 with Honeycomb theme but not sure tho. Someone may try to download this and try. Sorry!

It's clearly just a theme for 360, even the screenshots clearly show that.

Dell are idiots...no 2.2..
hollllllyyyyy snappppp!!!!!!cool...waiting for the release...thx m8 for sharing!
better than F**K all ......................................but not that much

Same here, plus Im using ADW launcher now with the droid X theme (looks great) which kind of negates a lot of the Dell stuff already and gives me loads of layout and UI options and portrait everywhere. So the things I really need now to make it a great experience is a better dialer. Keyboard fix - though I will prob install HTC multitouch, and most importantly proper multitouch which I assume this 2.1 build has.. which will finally allow for a decent gaming experince with emulators etc. I was actually quite happy with the camera interface, but the HD video is a big plus.
Sadly Dell screwed up with the software from the beginning and now they are rapidly losing potential customers with all this waiting around. The custom taskbar has its plusses but they would have won big if instead of wasting time customising the UI they launched this awesome device with a stock froyo build from release and then added custom touches, anyway lets hope 2.2 is on the way as the performance improvement would be great.
The point is we are supposed to get flash which needs 2.2 whens that gonna come next year?

Nice find. Am I alone in preferring the current look?

niiiiice!!!!!!!!!
I hoped in new and more transitions effects...
but the major thing i don't understand is why some google widgets are white, and others are black...why don't keep it coherent, it would result much better
Even though green is my favorite color, it didn't look to good in the low quality pics that had been leaked so far. They were all blurry and I think over-saturated as well. But seeing it clearly now it looks much better then I had previously thought.
Also, I like that it's being demonstrated on an N1 still. Take that NS
Here's a screenshot of it, for everyones convenience.
More thumbs from the video at Engadget.
The new launcher graphic looks awful; and what's up with the boxy look of everything? Basic UI stuff like radio buttons look AWFUL now. I'd rather they look completely flat (black/white only) then the cartoon-like gray-ish flat graphics they decided to use in Gingerbread - in fact, I much prefer the Froyo look. Popups are now boring looking, even more so than before which is quite a accomplishment. The status bar is a mixed bag, in the blurry pics I hated it, now I only kind of hate it. I think I can get into a black bar but the icons looks worse - not that the olds were perfect but they were overall better than what I'm seeing here.
Overall I'd rather have the old Froyo look with 3D-gallery-app-like UI overhauls of other central apps, more core OS animations and maybe HW acceleration.

Why? Google has never said what changes are coming in Gingerbread, and EVERY bit of factual evidence thus far has pointed to no major UI changes.
Hopefully you are able to choose between a white or black status bar and the froyo or gingerbread dock.

that my friend...i believe is actually true.
it seems as though gingerbread is going to be a somewhat minor update. changes to the market, maybe changes to music and one or two more things.
if it does turn out to be a relatively minor update (compared to froyo) i would expect that honeycomb will be released a lot sooner than expected...maybe February/march

Fair enough; but who wouldn't consider this to be the most significant visual change since Android's initial release? I would, and like I said, the visual changes in my opinion have so far been bad.

yea, the video has been removed by user.
ahahah i saw it but you can't
The people over at Google HQ obviously need to consult with the MIUI graphic designers (consult with someone, please..). No, I don't want Android looking like an iPhone, but the other various changes they made simply just kill the default Vanilla design. Especially the music application. Honestly stock Android looks pathetic at this point compared to other User Interfaces.. very disappointing.

I'm a dual iPhone/Android user, and while iOS is still ahead in terms of looks (stock vs stock), stock Android wasn't bad. I actually kind of like it to be honest, just needs a little bit more work. This though is a step back.

Just about the most unimpressive home UI tweaks Ive ever seen.
They just made a few things green.
Maybe theres more but Im certainly not expecting it.
Someone needs to explain how some random guy makes Launcher Pro and thus Android home UI inifintely more usable and uniform. Yet google cant even get the dock portion right.
Googles reputation of making things not pretty continues. Im expecting 2.3 to be a very very big letdown.

Android 2.3.2 Not gingerbread

I have just put android 2.3.3 please for give my typo on the post title of 2.3.2 on my dhd expecting it to be gingerbread the interface looks nothing like gingerbread, it just seems more like an updated version of froyo exept it has higher quality audio recording in videos 44.1 khz aac 96kbs the firmware i loaded was Seraphic stock-rooted 2.36.405.8 but doesnt look anything like gingerbread and has no DSP equalizer option either, i did try cynogens 7 firmware but didnt like it the camcorder and camera app is awfull with a horrible grey border awfull 8khz sound recording and no focus function on the camcorder either which states by pressing the screen it does not work so i thought i would install a non modded version of firmware, is this normal for 2.3.3 to be like this or have i done something wrong?
Thanks
Err, It is Gingerbread.
Gingerbread has been officially labeled as "Android 2.3 Gingerbread" for months.
As much as it looks like the older Froyo 2.2, it still is Gingerbread.
Liam
yeah but the interface is nothing like gingerbreads?? wheres all the fancy extra audio options? also in the software version under about phone it would actually say gingerbread just like it say's froyo 2.2.

I think you maybe mistaken for the custom roms i.e. CynogenMod.
I know what you mean though... I thought the same but then I came to the realisation that is what the developers of the custom rom's have implented.
Liam
Your getting a little mixed up here.
Gingerbread is Android 2.3
What you are referring to is HTC Sense, the skin/framework that HTC uses to brand Android. HTC Sense has looked like this since the very beginning back with the HTC Hero.
just looking at pictures of some gingerbread builds the main home screen has different dock icons and thats something the developers did redesign, you dont swipe the screen down in gingerbread to inlock its sideways and when you shut down gingerbread the screen goes off with a white line effect like a crt tv being switched off, this build does not seem like gingerbread at all and the developers particulary said they where implementing new dsp equalizer features which are featured on the androids developers website, i also downloaded a very buggy leaked release of gingerbread which had developer test apps on it as well, the gingerbread battery and wifi icons are green not white and thats not because it was modded, the nexus has gingerbread which looks nothing like this release.
Yes the Nexus S runs Pure Android, which does not have HTC Sense, and as such looks nothing like it. You wondered why Samsung's TouchWiz looks nothing like Motorola's MotoBlur, Its because they were designed to look different from Pure Android.
The docks can be changed easily with different launcher apps from the Market. WiFi & mobile network icons are white when your not synced with Google, they turn green once connected.
HTC has removed some features, i.e the CRT animation as they probably feel it doesn't flow well with HTC Sense.
Have you tried MIUI?
yeah i use go launcher ex its just the developers at android stating a major audio overhaul which is no different to froyo i just thought it would look more like this

Oh god yes. And they are using Cyanogen colours as their inspiration. Who is leading who?
cannot wait to get it on my SGS2
It looks great, i expected everything would be gray/black themed like the new Market. Can't wait to see more. Also wondering the performence of the ICS.

Blue theme, they wanna degrade AMOLED based displays that fast I guess..
Mostly UI changes - many older devices (< 1 year old) should be able to run it

Err what? So nothing really major in 4.0 ?
Well, I am skeptical about these pictures.
On Google IO a "state of the art" UI was promised, but all I can see is the same look Gingerbread had, but with blue elements.
If I recall right, on IO the Google-Representative said they are "AIMING for a Q4 release", not "it WILL BE RELEASED Q4".
I don't think ICS is anywhere close to release at this moment. And even if it will be released Q4, which I highly doubt, then only on the Nexus Prime, the rest of the Nexus family, not to speak of non-Nexus phones, will follow in 2012.
I expect to get ICS on my GS2 around april to may 2012.
Dammit Google just because you made the statusbar icons blue doesnt mean u should make all the icons blue! !

Looks like the leaked photos from same guy.
Fake.
Truly hideous.
Clearly fake.
I hope they are fake (though the sites claims they are 100%) legit. Hardly looks like the total UI overhaul they promised.
Why is this under galaxy s 2? And this won't be on gs2, If it is, it will mainly be TouchGay, no AOSP. This is the picture of a nexus s...and they said it would be gingerbread and honeycomb, it is. Looks like all the themselves for sensation, nothings changed, just coloring and looks more confusing.

Cant be ice cream sandwich. Pretty much the same as gingerbread.
If it is though,,... I and many would be greatly disappointed.
Touchwiz is cool stop being mean.
For those commenting, you do realise that even the leaker stated this is a very early build. Obviously it looks like GB, it makes sense that ICS would be built upon the GB platform, therefore early builds will clearly look like a tweaked GB rom.
Firstly I know the guy who provided us with the photos and he is the same guy who gave us screenshots of Gingerbread before it's release and they turned out to be 100% real.
Secondly ICS is not going to look that different from Gingerbread, but it will act differently.
You can see already that the notifications bar has changed a bit, the market has now changed (and available to all) music app has changed (available to all) and in the screenshot you can see the new widget page which is similar to honeycomb and the app switcher on the home screen again similar to honeycomb. The rest of the UI will look roughly the same as we expect as it works well on a phone.
One thing that will change is the way the UI and apps respond when the phone is in landscape. It will act more like a tablet when in landscape and more like a phone when in portrait.
Just wait for more information to come out and you will see that although it looks similar it will in-fact work completely differently.
well damn it google. they should have make a more beautiful AOSP theme rather than having themers making lot more work than them, which is beautifully done. for out the box UI, Android actually failed that. Sense is the most customized ones, though every version looks the same. I love how the updates from google make things work differently, but please~~ the UI~~ not everyone can customize and have the creativity, so make a beautiful one damn it google.

First screenshots of ICS and TouchWiz 5.0?

Saw this on the Samsung Mobile USA Facebook page. The screenshots don't resemble the current version of TouchWiz, is this our first look at ICS on the GS2? If so, I'm not impressed...
The footer does say screen images simulated, so I'm not sure.
Whats your opinion on this?
Source: Can't post until I have 8 posts...
PS: Please don't flame me if this is already known or just plain noob, I am new here. Just sharing what I found, as it may have some relevance.
ICS are blue themed, this is green!
Agreed - could be true that it is touchwiz 5 though to stop anymore lawsuits but def. not ICS.
all thing that we saw from ICS 4 was pics from galaxy nexus.May be the ICS for SGS 2 can be with some changes..
Both screenshots on the GS2 are rather different, so I'm not sure what it is...
Looks more like a custom launcher to me. Not very Samsung-ish or Google-ish
there are 2 different SGSII models, one with 4.2 inch and the other with 4.5 inch display.
each is designed for a different operator in us so the operator might asked for a different customization of the os.
the weather widgets are the same...
Is TW4

I couldn't agree more. I want as close to stock ICS as possible (since I think ICS is pretty close to touchwiz 4.0). I really hope Samsung add the wifi/bluetooth/gps etc to the notification bar again, I love that feature.

I don't think that the look of the upcoming ICS Rom will have a lot of similarities with the Google ICS look.
They'll stay on TouchWiz and it will look like TouchWiz.
Samsung created TouchWiz to give the Phone a specific look and feel and to be different/better to their competitors. They'll not jump into another direction now.
A BMW is still looking like a BMW, a Mercedes like a Mercedes. Even if you remove the Logos.
Actually ICS is to much hyped. Everyone is expecting to much.

Sorry, it was on the Samsung Mobile Facebook page, not the website. Silly error on my part.
It's feeling more and more like its just a mockup, not anything that Sammy will release. But we'll see.
Lmao definetely not TW5 or Ice Cream Sandwich.

Freakin' hideous!
hell no that looks ugly
The statusbar is kinda remiscent of HTC's sense. The icons are just ugly. Take away message of these ads is, one can customize an Android phone (skin) to the point of it being unrecognizable (as well as unusable?).
Touchwiz is just a luncher, icons and a blue bar. The blue bar I now like, the launcher and icons are easily changable even without rooting.
Obviously a marketing guy pulled random screenshots off the internet. The second shot is showing an HTC Sense wallpaper, so stop worrying that this is Samsung's rendition of ICS. Look at the Galaxy Tabs with Honeycomb if you want to get an idea what TouchWiz on ICS will look like.
