Hi everyone,
I've installed WP7 on Nand and use various Android roms booting from sd card. I've tried the newest roms that include a kernel that enables HWA. Everything seems to be working fine for me except from the fact that I cannot access my SD card even-though the system boots from it.
I've experienced this problem in the "Unofficial AOKP m5 (AKA IceCreamTostidroid)" and in the "MIUI ICS 2.4.27[Securecrt&Dori 6.6D HWA]". I've formated the sd card and did a clean install of the respective roms but still no luck.
I know that it is a work in progress and I'm happy to wait for better versions of these roms but it seems to me, from browsing these threads, that not a lot of people are experiencing this problem.
If anyone has a hint to solve this "hiccup" it would be welcome.
Thank you in advance!
Mount SD card in MAGLDR (not recovery) and format with SDFormatter
Im guessing you are using DORIMANX kernel.

Well, I'm using two sd cards, one formatted for WP7 and the other for android use. So I did a format with Easus Partition (and another time with the windows tool). I rebooted three times but still no luck. I guess I'll have to wait for a fix.
Thanks for your reply anyway.
Deny boy securecrt kernel is based on dorminax 6.6c kernel
Well try formatting your SD with 32 KB blocks works for me

I'll try it right away. Oh, and I forgot to mention the kernel; yes that's the one
Thanks Thealshear.

I had similar issue but it get solved only by formatting with SDFormatter not Easus or Windows tool. Use SD formatter tool while mounting in MAGLDR (not recovery)
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/
This issue for me was present only with dorimanx kernel.
Denyboy,
I tried with sdformatter and it worked. Thanks for your advice!

Hello everyone, I would have posted this under:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881937
but my less then 10 post restriction is not allowing me to .
My problem is once the ROM boots up, as soon as it says "Preparing SD Card", my phone freezes. The only thing I can think of is that I have an incompatible SD card. I am currently using the one that came with my phone which is a class 2 16gb SanDisk. What would you guys recommend that I use?
Use a program called SDFormatter (from Panasonic) .. format it.
Then use windows format utility to give it a slow format 4096 cluster FAT32
Works great for me on "broken" cards.
He's right. The stock card should work.

A class 2 Sandisk should be fine unless it's defective. Maybe you have build setup wrong... have you tried a different build? Try that and see if it works. Are you trying to dualboot or anything like that? Or load the build with magldr?

Possibly and no I haven't tried a different build yet but I will if this continues to happen. I am not dual booting at this moment but I am using magldr to boot up android.

If you are using magldr, you need a build compatible with magldr or edit the init.rc file in the build to make it work with magldr. Look at the thread in my signature... post 2 has some builds that I edited to work with magldr. I'll be adding more soon.
Alright, well I've formatted my sd card and now it's worse then before. It just stays stuck at the MAGDLR screen and doesn't boot up at all. As far as I know the build is compatible with MAGDLR so I'm not sure what the problem is.
So I was using Kyrillos' 4.1 non OC ROM and I wanted an app to take snapshots of my phone and downloaded picme... After installing it, it asked for superuser allowance and I gave it but the phone froze... I rebooted and it stuck on the booting logo (green android with a circle)... I tried taking out the micro SD and it booted fine. So my problem is with my 4gb micro SD. I formatted it both with windows and EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition but still it doesn't work. I even had EASUS to check my SD for bad sectors, but nothing... I flashed Kyrillos' new 5 beta ROM but still it freezes on the boot logo... It's weird because my SD card has only 1 partition and no bad sectors. Help please?
Try another sd?

I did try the SD the phone came with but my non-working SD card is my bigger one... 4gb capacity. My point is that my SD card is usable on any other device except my phone until recently

I already did... In FAT32 and still nothing
clarkkov said:
Format it to ext. Kikiriki rom requires sd to be in the phone when flashing, it places swap and app2sd onto sd. This is one of the reasons you shouldnt use custom c#ap. If it does not work in ext, reflash kiki rom with this sd inside the phone. If it does not work after this, say good bye to your sd, kiki has fried its mbr.

Who talked about Kyrillos' rom being crap... Sorry but it is way ahead of most ROMs... Even for Galaxy 3 the speeds are light fast and I never ever had any problems with the ROM again... Some people like to push their stuff to the limits and not get everything a company gives them. Do we have an official Froyo update from Kies yet? Nope! Hence the custom ROM
I got it working... I formatted it to EXT2 and then formatted it again on my phone, and my phone can boot with the 4gb sd... Thanks clarkkov !!!
Hello, I need some help with partitioning my Micro SD card. It is an 8GB class 6, and I know the basics, but that is it. What I really need to know is HOW to partition my SD card and what the hell 'EXT2/3/4' is all about. Now, I have had different suggestions as to what to do, I have to disc all ready with Gparted installed, and I am ready to use it, yet I have been told by some members of XDA the partitioning isn't even a requirement for ROMs. Is this true? I have a Euro HD2, and recently when trying to partition my SD card through Clockwork Mod (CLK) my SD card's memory dropped from 8GB to around 6.5GB. I have tried formatting it as I always do, but nothing seems to come of it. Anyway, what I would like to know is how and why I need to partition, especially EXT2/3/4 as this particular partition has come up on most ROMs I wish to install.
I hope someone can shine some light on this issue.
Thanks in advance -- Joe
(PS - I will click thanks for anyone who gives useful information)

First thing
Closckwork Mod is NOT CLK, they are different
if your memorcy card dropped from 8GB to 6.5~ , then your partioning was succesfull , what you cant see is the EXT partion that only android can see,
Go ahead and flash a EXT supported ROM , have fun

Sorry, I didn't realise they were different (CLK - Clockwork Mod) But if you say that the partitioning worked, then does that mean I have done all of the partitions, or just one?
You just need one partition not many ... so I guess you can find out by trying an ext supported ROM... try coredroid 1.6

Ok so the problem im having is when i install an android rom (tried 5 different ones) the phone (EU LEO) suffers from random freezes which then either needs a manual reboot (battery out and in again) or reboots itself! :S The wierd thing is that if i flash WP7 to the phone it works like a charm! Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks, Ben
Edit: Tried a task 29, no luck, could it be an sd card issue after WP7 formats it?

You could try another sd card.
If wiping data/cache/dalvik cache (task29) doesn't work.. There is not that much to say..
Our hd2's are getting older :/
Definitely need to format sd card. Wp7 completely changed partition layout and types. Since you are running a eu hd2 many roms also require a 1gb ext3 or 4 partition for the system to write properly or for a2sd support. One other thing is to check your radio, I know there is a wp7 radio for running windows 7 on hd2 and that is incompatible with android. If you have this radio, flash the latest stock radio and reinstall android
Thanks for the replys guys, tried the sd card didn't work now to try the new radio! Wish me luck!
Which radio do you guys suggest? I'm not sure which one to use!
Cheers
Did you try formatting and repartitioning your SD Card again?. A glitch in the partition will cause random reboots. Have you tried just running Android on SD on its own as normal?(no WP,no partition)...if the same builds you are trying now works fine without any partitions, then its definitely not your phone nor could it be your SD Card...still you might want to try a class 6 SD cars and see if that solves it
I unlocked the SD card after wp7 using the storage unlock tool, then I repartitioned it using CWM recovery. Would you recommended another method of doing this?

SlimKAT looks good but i think i won't install it since i can only do NAND for awhile (broke my 16GB sd card and still waiting for my new Toshiba 16GB SDHC Class 10 UHS-1 to be delivered). If you know any good JB/KITKAT based ROMS compatible with NAND please let me know. Thanks!
Oh and I kinda made the sd on it work earlier (weird), i wiped dalvik cache, turned it off for a few hours, booted it up and there it is. Only annoying part now is that whenever i take off the sd card (not mine) there is this "SD card removed. Insert a new one." notification and i cant remove. *sigh*
Anyways gonna wipe it again later because ill use TWRP instead of CWM i use it also on my Nexus 7 and im fond of it
just saw the latest version of SlimKAT and it was compatible with NAND, was looking at the old version so gonna try it now...
